I love fantasy, adventure, and magic. More than that, I adore my readers.
My books are written to entertain -- fantasy adventures filled with compelling characters, spectacular magic, thrilling action, constant intrigue, and a sense of discovery. I equate them to the "Marvel Movie" version of fiction, intended to be a fun escape.
I would love to have you join me and my quirky characters for one outrageous adventure after another. With over a million published words, my author journey has just begun.
Best wishes, Jeff

My very favourite thief is back in another marvelous episode of his unique shenanigans! I can't get enough of Jerrell, he surprises me constantly, keeps me on my toes and I hear this voice in my head whispering for me to join him on his adventures. Who am I to discard such sound advice!
Oh does Jerrell like to stir things up! Especially when his sense of right and just is attacked. Bullies are his pet hate, his methods very unorthodox but you can be guaranteed there's fun to be had amongst his many dealings and he certainly has lots of those! Most books have one major event or adventure that unfolds throughout the book, not so with Jerrell, the author takes him from one escapade to the next, each one highlighting Jerrel's prowess and skills, each one so fitting to the plot, each one carrying me with it's brilliant pace never knowing what was going to befall Jerrell next! Wonderful!
His narrow escapes are audacious, although I do think Jerrell is extremely talented at getting himself into the most difficult of circumstances! His ingenuity saves the day as well as him! I love his antics, just love them.
His quick tongue, his clever sharp wit, his charm and his fast reactions stand him in good stead, well, most of the time. Other times these exact abilities have landed him a beating or two or three.... not to mention some extremely perilous situations! But Jerrell being Jerrell either charms his way out or uses trickery. I should mention that one of his greatest assets is his charm, when he turns it on, not only are the ladies eating out of his hand but any he sets his sights on. His love of making a quick buck is hardly ever quick or for that matter, easy but boy is the adventure he takes me on entertaining! Nothing gets him down, he somehow manages to wiggle out of the most dire situations using all the assets and skills he can come up with, combined with his unbound daring, are some of the reasons Jerrell is is such a likeable character.
Haelynn is a really memorable character, not only because it was she who managed to outwit Jerrell and steal his money, not once but twice, but also for her sheer beauty and savvy too. Loved her. Another delight was the first glimpse of Harlequin, a character I love from previous series, she didn't really have a part to play, just that she was named sent a thrill through me. I'm loving this new series, I'm loving Jerrell more and more, a feat I thought impossible! I guarantee you a fun ride!
- in which Jerrell teams up with Haelynn (semi-romance, also she might be my new favorite, just saying…) and together they create so many alternate identities, this story is so fun! Haelynn gets cranky having to ride on horseback, and Jerrell crawls through a mine and befriends a mouse (like a mine’s canary, but surprisingly cuter). This is my favorite of the three – Haelynn is pretty kickass and provides plenty of twists in a very twisty tale that does not disappoint.
- tie-ins to other wizardoms: So many! Portia is back in a very touching scene between her and Jerrell; the Whistler makes an appearance; Lord Malvorian chases after Jerrell and Olberon hires him for a contract; Thurvin is seen in passing; and my favorite—on a ship called Hassaka’s Breath, a female captain attracts some attention—Harlequin, of course.
“For Jerrell, the anxiety came in the waiting for some unknown occurrence to send the plan into disarray. When it actually came to pass, well, that was when he was at his best.”
Jerrell Landish definitely knows how to get himself into and out of so many tight and sticky situations! I’ve never read any other character that was able to find or often seek out so much trouble. And the wonderful thing about Jerrell is, that although he tends to get into these mischievous situations, that often seem to spiral out of hand, he always manages to scheme, fight, and sometimes even charm his way out of them in usually some hilarious and unbelievable manner.
HOWEVER…this is not the case in this final installment of the Outrageous Exploits of Jerrell Landish. In this final story we discover that even Landish can be outwitted if he lets his defenses down and puts his trust in the wrong person. If you have read the other Wizardom series you of course know that Haelynn somehow betrayed Jerrell, although, you never learn how or why. It is left a mystery. Well, in Charlatan for Hire we get to unravel the mystery and finally discover the how and why, as well as, the when and where of the origins to the distrust Jerrell has of Haelynn.
Although things appeared like they were looking up for Jerrell and his business at the end of Trickster for Hire we soon discover that things didn’t actually work out as well as he had hoped. A man known as The Whispering Man has also set up shop in the bureau and now rules the underbelly of the city. So Jerrell makes a deal with Haelynn (who just happens to be the blond bombshell who robbed him of his gold in Thief for Hire) to undermine this new player and make a fortune of their own. Schemes were made, plots thickened, gold switched from player to player and hilarious and crazy events took place and they all finally led to the FAME Jerrell truly desired.
I absolutely love the way Kohanek was able to take us back to the beginning of Jerrell Landish. He took Jerrell from a young, extremely opportunist, fame seeking, extremely intelligent but somehow nieve character and throughout the three novels showed his development into the Wonderful Jace that I adore so much in both the Fate and the Fall of the Wizardoms series. As the readers we got to experience how the Great Jerrell Landish came to his fame, why he always “worked alone”, how he was able to somehow manage to get himself out of every crazy situation he got himself into. We got to meet the man behind all the seemingly outrageous stories and see how they all combined to create a character that so many people love and adore.
I truly enjoyed every last one of these fantastic and hilarious adventures Kohanek has created! It has been such a blast getting to plot, scheme, charm, and fight our way through so many Outrageous Exploits through the eyes of one of my very favorite rogues!
Our rogue Jerrell Landish is back, and he is messing around with so many wizards and enchanters, but this time he finds himself partnered with a beautiful woman called Haelynn. Now this woman had already betrayed him before, but he still went along with her plans, as he did not wish to join the assassin’s guild led by the crime lord, known as the whispering man. However once a betrayer always a betrayer. I love this rogue’s caustic wit even when it is turned against himself, and his lack of fear even when jumping headfirst into situations he has no control over. Somehow he always manages to land on his feet. He is my favourite character in the Wizardom Series, and this trilogy about his audacious exploits is the cherry on the cake. I really enjoyed reading all three of the books and will miss Jerrell’s fun exploits but for those who have not yet read the wizardom series this was just a taster and the best is yet to be enjoyed!
Jerrell Landish is my favorite thief, and why not? He is certainly creative with the jobs he takes. He is very charismatic, daring with never a dull moment. I fully enjoyed this book. The author has given us characters full of life. A story of adventure, danger, intense situations, close escapes, mystery and enough twists and turns to make anyone happy! This is a story that draws you in and makes you want more! So here you get more adventure, more magic, more action! What more can you ask for!!!
A great ending to the trilogy. Jarrell finally made a name for himself while he had several dangerous escapades. This leads him to the events in the Fate of Wizardoms.
