Dark power stirs beneath the throne of an ancient empire, but the dragonriders are not far behind …
Maylea Broadfeather is not a dragonrider like her parents. That small detail hasn’t stopped her from sneaking aboard Reigh’s latest mission, though. Why? Because she has a mission all her to rescue her childhood friend from a gruesome demise in the distant land of Nar’Haleen and prove that her family’s legacy of greatness hasn’t ended. But trying to fill her father’s shoes may cost Maylea more than she ever imagined—especially when the God of Life, Paligno, offers her power in exchange for loyalty in the divine war now looming on the horizon. Is binding her fate to the will of an unpredictable deity going to be enough? Or will the grand game of divine power, dangerous secrets, and vicious motives seal her fate just as it did her parents’ long ago?
Clarke is hiding something. Tormented with visions and confusing nightmares, he suspects that the fate of the Compendium Library may have had something to do with him and the strange power that threatens to overtake his mind. Clarke fears that confessing his suspicions would also mean banishment to the dangerous jungles of Nar’Haleen where imperial forces may kill him on sight. But as his power grows and reveals divine secrets buried for centuries, Clarke can’t hide the truth for much longer. Will he be left to survive alone? Or will the depths of a long-forgotten temple finally unveil the truth of the power that threatens to drive him mad?

I love all of the Dragonrider books and this one does not disappoint. Reading the story from different characters' perspectives adds to the excitement of the story, and I can't wait to see how all the pieces come together. I love the combination of characters from older series teaming up with new characters from this series to continue the adventures in this world. Excellent storytelling and I am looking forward to the next book.

Action packed from start to end. The author told the story from 4 characters points of view. So it was like getting 4 books in one. It was really suspenseful when the story jumped to another character's story, leaving you on the edge of your seat wanting to know what happens next in the previous character's story.
I finished this book on the morning of the third day, but I could have devoured it in one if I didn't need to sleep, eat and do .. other things.
It doesn't really end on a cliffhanger, but you definitely know there's more to come. Personally, I want the next book RIGHT NOW. Sorry, Nicole. You'll have to skip Christmas this year so you can get the next book out ASAP. Just kidding. We love you.

What can I say? I literally couldn't put it down! The characters become more real, like old friends. I love the way Ms Conway blends all the past histories of the characters and adds love and depth to them. A little bit of romance, a lot of action and a fantastic plot! What are you waiting for? This is a book you' be been waiting for!
Oi, a more potent cliffhanger than any I’ve read before.
I won’t spoil it for the next reader by speaking of the plot when Nicole writes better prose than I can hope to muster. Just start at the beginning of this series so you can enjoy the violent, touching ride I just took reading this sixth book. Book seven had better be coming soon or I’ll have nightmares.
Incredibly good book. I loved the paragraphs upon paragraphs of lore!!
The only thing that irked me was Maylea and Lukani's 'romance.' Lukani was fighting battles while Maylea was being born. I get it, technically he's still a kid by his race's standard, but just like with Garnett and Thatcher, it's off.
I love this series it has just the right amount of snark and fights. I would really, recommend this series and the other series that go with this one. I would probably start with "Fledgling" by Nicole Conway as it's about Jaevid Broadfeather and would help you understand a lot about the Dragon Riders, etc.
Of course I enjoyed this one two. I am liking the new romances and of course classic Thatcher has to get injured to the point of almost dying. Can’t wait for the next one when it comes out in a hard copy.

What cost wilMaylea have to pay? What is going to happen to Thatch? Will Reigh and Violet finally admit it to each other?! And when will we see that drake again?!
