Issac Templeton is a successful attorney with a thriving law practice in downtown Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Aside from a few recurring nightmares, Issac is happy where he is in life, although he knows there is always room for improvement. Issac’s relationship with his headstrong artist girlfriend is challenging, but he understands that all good things take time and must be earned.
Yes, Issac has built a successful career and a fulfilling personal life, one brick at a time. It is said, however, that life can change dramatically in an instant. Issac’s comfortable life is about to take a sharp turn into dark and unpredictable realms that are more horrifying than even his worst nightmares.
Only one thing stood between me and my dream of becoming a creative writer: I couldn’t do two things at once.
Upon retiring from my career in marketing communications, I decided to devote my full attention to writing fiction, thereby solving my multi-tasking challenge.
I began my creative writing journey by enrolling in the online Writers’ Program offered by UCLA. In a series of courses taught by professional writers, I learned how to craft memorable characters, create colorful worlds, and outline suspenseful plots enriched with drama and conflict.
Taking one baby step at a time, I managed to bridge the gulf between writing promotional copy in short bursts to rendering full scale novels. As an interim step, I wrote three screenplays.
My three feature length scripts; "Love Will Find You," “Joshua’s Decision, and "A Prescription for Happiness" have reached the finals or placed in several major screenplay competitions.
My first novel, a Science Fantasy, “Three Days to Darkness,” was nominated to the James Kirkwood Prize for creative writing.
My publishing company, Entelligent Entertainment, has also published "Scarlet Ambrosia" and my latest novel: "Micromium--Clean Energy from Mars."
Time Terminus is a novella that could easily be expanded into a full-length novel. This sci-fi action story is about Isaac Templeton, a high-powered lawyer whose puzzling nightmares foreshadow the need for him to eventually travel back in time to save the life of his girlfriend.
Through a series of complex plots and subplots, dipping in and out of time travel that is made possible by alien life, author David Gittlin tells the stories of Isaac and his complicated girlfriend, an inventor and a serial killer with a taste for disguise. The idea at the heart of this compelling story is a good one. There are twists and turns in the plot and plenty of action interspersed through lengthy passages of dialogue that propel the plot forward. The flashback technique Gittlin uses is handled quite well, although there are times it feels like some ideas could benefit from further exploration. The author gives his characters a great sense of depth and range and I wish that the novel was longer so that we can stay with the characters and learn more about them.
The best part of Time Terminus is the skill with which the author handles the complications and paradoxes inherent in any story that deals with time travel. It’s clear he has thoroughly considered the effects on the present if you could go back to the past and do things differently. However, I would have liked to see him explore this in more depth.
Time Terminus: Expect the Unexpected is a quick and entertaining crime and mystery novel that uses interesting time travel elements to really liven up the story overall. The many subplots hint at a much more complicated story than Gittlin gives us, and I look forward to reading more from this author.
Time Terminus: Expect the Unexpected written by David Gittlin is a short suspense and fantasy story. It is less than a hundred pages long, but don’t let its length fool you into thinking you are going to read a simple narration. This book is captivating, complex and very well written. This novel has a solid plot, supported by very well-explained facts and events that help to build an original, imaginative and compelling story. Readers will find well-written descriptions and peculiar characters that will capture their attention until the last page. If readers are looking for a spine-tingling fantastic thriller, they shouldn’t miss this book. It’s worth reading it. I enjoyed it a lot.
I liked this piece of wok very much and I felt trapped from the first chapter. This is a quick read with suspense, intrigue, adventure and easy dialogues but at the same time a compelling development. As regards the plot, I thought it was a bit predictable; I knew some things before that were revealed. Also, there are phrases over used; however, those weren’t bothersome at all because the author has got a kind of magic that made me forget about the small things I didn’t like. The characters grow a lot throughout the story and it’s nice to see how people can change dramatically in an instant when they face unfavorable situations. Without any doubt, this is a very good book!
Gittlin keeps readers on the edge of their seats in this short but highly entertaining novella. Issac Templeton has a successful career as an attorney at a bustling law firm in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He's recently moved in with his headstrong artist girlfriend, Anna, and is learning to navigate through the highs and lows of their relationship. This includes Issac's growing concern for Anna's safety after three of her paintings are stolen from a local gallery and the growing number of reports of disappearing young women in their area. Things begin to take a turn for the worse when Issac's assistant Ilana, mysteriously disappears followed by Anna's disappearance a few months later. But in the days following Anna's disappearance, Issac begins to question his sanity and reality itself when FBI reports reveal that Anna has been reported missing for over a year. Meanwhile across the pond, Shaun Hennessy, a former physics professor now sheep farmer, has found an odd shaped rock with bits of metal in his field, After a few experiments, Shaun discovers the rock is capable of time travel and looks to business man Peter Alastair for help in funding his time machine. Peter agrees on the condition that he's allowed to use the time machine to resolve some personal matters. At first glance, the three men and their stories have little in common but as the novella continues Gittlin makes small connections between the three and how they intertwine becomes more obvious. The chapters are short and the pacing is quick being that the story is a novella and so the story is a quick read. The story has enough potential to be novel but by leaving it as a novella, there were a lot of plot points that felt underdeveloped. This is a good beach read for readers looking for a thriller with a touch of sci-fi.
Readers who read David know his writing style and approach. Well, you will be surprised when you read this one, although I cannot tell you what the surprise is, I can assure you it is a pleasant one. So here I am with my thoughts on the book.
Read on forward, there are no spoilers ahead.
The book is a beautiful collaboration of Sci-Fi with a seasoning of romance and complemented by adventure. For me, this is a recipe for brilliance. And it was. I loved the book. The characters are very well written and equally well portrayed. Their struggles are evident and their development is gradual. The various concepts in the book are very clearly explained but not too much, so there are some fillers here and there but they are enjoyable ones.
The story wasn't the unique thing ever but again it's the storytelling that matters. A brilliant novel in the hands of a not-so-brilliant writer can turn into a horrifying mess and vice-versa. The book has excellent storytelling which is not easy with a plot like this.
Last but not the least, I really hope this book will be a series like The Promise of The Visitor because I loved that series. Anyway, If you haven't read the book and show the author some love and support. Thank you to the author for writing such a great book.
Time Terminus - Expect the Unexpected was written by David Gittlin. Shaun Hennessy finds an odd-shaped rock sprinkled with gleaming metal in his field. He conducted several scientific experiments and discovered he could travel back in time. He visits Peter Alastair's office recounting his acquisition's tale to gain funding to build a time machine. The plot starts with several things happening at once. The back stories alternate between a serial killer, a lawyer named Isaac Templeton, who experiences strange nightmares, and a man who can travel back in time. The introduction of the characters and their respective backstories were presented in a way that made it difficult to make a connection immediately; however, as the author goes deeper into the plot, readers will be thrilled by this page-turner.
In this science fiction novel, relationships are strained when temporality becomes muddled. This is a classic time travel story where the main protagonists aim to go back in time to perform a save and rescue mission. Time Terminus’s episodic structure makes it easy to pick up the volume for a quick read. Three stars were given for this book because it was a short read with a plot that needed more development.
"Time Terminus: Expect the Unexpected" by David Gittlin takes readers on a gripping journey through the unexpected twists and turns of life. Isaac Templeton, a successful attorney in Fort Lauderdale, seems content with his life, despite a few haunting nightmares and a challenging relationship. However, as the book's description hints, life can change dramatically in an instant, and Isaac's life takes an unforeseen plunge into dark and unpredictable realms. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a mix of thriller, suspense, and psychological intrigue. The author's storytelling captivates with its ability to blend the ordinary with the extraordinary. The book provides an engaging exploration of the human psyche and the resilience of the human spirit when faced with the unexpected. It is an enthralling read that will keep you on the edge of your seat, pondering the unpredictable nature of existence.
Time Terminus by David Gittlin is a well written novel that kept me at the edge of my seat. This story tells the life of Issac, a successful lawyer who owns his own law firm. He has a great life that is going very well both professionally and personally, in general terms. However, he has some differences with his girlfriend, which is quite a challenge. Out of the blue, Issac's wonderful life takes a 180° turn and he will go through not pleasent moments. Always being a fan of dramatic narratives, I really enjoyed this book. It has some science fiction elements, but the author did a good job when making these elements easy to understand and follow. Another point that I enjoyed is the writing style present all along the novel. The unveiling of events and relationships is great. I recommend this book 100%.
Time Terminus is an exciting and entertaining science fiction novel that keeps you on the edge of your seat from the first page to the end. Throughout the plot, the author presents well-developed characters. Each character has their own personality and their own role in the plot, which makes it easy to empathize with them.
The narrative is fluid and easy to follow, and the author manages to maintain tension throughout the entire plot. Twists and surprises keep the reader hooked and wanting to know what happens next.
The author also does an excellent job of blending sci-fi elements into the everyday life of Isaac, who is a successful lawyer leading a full professional and personal life until one day everything suddenly changes. If you're a fan of science fiction or just looking for a good read, this book will definitely grab you.
Time Terminus was an easy read that held my attention with a nice flow of dialogue and suspense. It was great to read this story as it developed quickly without a lot of fluff. Although this book has science fiction elements, the author did a good job of making these elements easy to understand and follow. Initially i was introduced to characters that were not obviously tied together but eventually the author revealed their connection in unexpected ways. There were some unpredictable elements that helped to keep me as the reader engaged and curious about what was coming next. Even the ending left me wondering about the future of these characters. Certainly a good read, I would recommend to anyone but particularly those who don’t like long books.
Time travel is something that has fascinated people for generations. But what if it causes more trouble than we could ever imagine? This concept forms the basis of author David Gittlin’s Time Terminus: Expect the Unexpected. The story follows Isaac, Peter, and Alastair and how a meteor shower provides them with the ability to build a time machine. What happens next will make you really stop and think as a race begins to undo crime before it’s too late. I really liked the fast pace of the book and how the author weaves such a believable storyline. I also like the character development and how easy it is to relate to them. Overall, a fun and exciting read, Time Terminus will make you think and second guess what we know about reality.
Time Terminus: Expect the Unexpected by David Gittlin is a genius sci-fi novel. Issac Templeton has built a successful life for himself and like life affairs go, he is still working on getting his relationship with his headstrong girlfriend to be. Everything seemed to be in place for him except save for a few recurring nightmares. But unexpected things happen when we least expect it, and Issac's life is changed forever with something dark and horrifying. The best part about this storyline is the unexpected mixing up of the sci-fi with the life of Issac. There is constant suspense and intrigue which kept me engaged till the end. The author’s narrative is splendid. Mystery, fantasy, romance and sci-fi mixed together makes it a must read.
Readers will either hate Time Terminus, or love this beautifully written novella and its cleverly crafted plot sequences. David Gittlin sends readers on a whirlwind journey that stretches the imagination, using smooth narrative and realistic dialogue. With such a short story, Gittlin doesn’t spent much time on character development, letting the plot elements carry the book—some almost distracting in their detail—which creates obvious problems for readers unable to settle down before being jerked from one brief chapter to another. A singular head-scratcher is Alastair’s evil alter ego, but readers will have to resolve that one for themselves. If they can survive the first ten pages, Time Terminus will either disappoint, or in a quirky way, leave a satisfied afterglow.
“Time Terminus: Expect the Unexpected” by David Gittlin is a great novel that shows the dark sides of life and how fast it can all turn around and go just the other way. The main person in this book is Isaac Templeton, who is a very successful attorney in Florida. His life seems close to perfect. Having a great career, an amazing personal life with a girlfriend and a balanced day to day. But nothing lasts forever in this life and that’s definitely something that this book shows. I personally loved the hard but true facts that this book presents about what life is like. It’s definitely not a book for softies. But I can really recommend. It was amazing to read.
A greatly written sci-fi novel with twists and turns that really make you keep going. This is a short read of about 154 or so pages but it's packed with action, intrigue, crime, mystery, you name it! Gittlin has a great writing style and I love how he uses flashbacks to keep the plot going. With such a short read, you'd think the characters wouldn't have enough time to be well-developed but this is something else that Gittlin has done well! The characters and the range and interactions between them were wonderful. This story has time travel in it as well and I wish that it was a longer story to explore more of the time travel aspect and to delve deeper. Not because the story was missing anything just a personal preference. Maybe we can see this further with Gittlin's work. I sure hope so!
"Time Terminus: Expect the Unexpected" by David Gittlin is a novel that captivated me. The quality of the writing, the intrigue and suspense in the plot, as well as the character development and the combination of various genres, made the book highly appealing to me. It's an exciting and captivating read that drew me in from the beginning with a story full of surprises and diverse elements. The blending of science fiction elements with the everyday life of the main character, Issac, added a unique touch to the narrative. Gittlin uses a smooth and easy-to-follow narrative, creating a connection with the characters and their fate that makes you unable to stop reading. If you enjoy science fiction novels with intriguing and well-written plots, I highly recommend reading "Time Terminus."
Great book! I enjoyed reading it - mostly. The book starts out telling three different storylines, which confused me at first. Maybe a little headline or chapter name to designate a separation between the stories would have helped me switch gears mentally. And I really prefer not to read graphic descriptions of murder so I cringed through the serial killer's portions. Otherwise, I liked this book. I liked the stark and stiff writing style; it made it feel like a noir book. The time travel aspect was a little basic and not explained well, but that's ok. I did like how the three stories started out separately before interweaving with one another by the end. The book is short and sweet and a fun and easy read, if you don't mind reading a bit about serial killers.
An absorbing novel "Time Terminus" is an enticing and entertaining novel penned by David Gittlin. It tells the story of Issac Templeton, a successful attorney who maintains a tranquil life in Lauderdale. He has a thriving job, a lovely and determined girlfriend but all of the sudden, his life turns upside down. This novel will leave readers at the edge of their seat because it has a lot of suspense and intense moments. The characters are dynamic and well-portrayed. While you read, you can see how they change and adapt to every situation. Their dialogues are so realistic that they make readers feel inside their lives, problems, and thoughts; it’s really engaging. I enjoyed reading it and I highly recommend it.
An entertaining fiction David Gittlin is the author of the novella titled “Time Terminus”. The story tells the simple life of a lawyer called Isaac Templeton. Templeton has a common routine: a good job, a house in Florida and nothing else to expect from life. He knows about his simple life and he works hard to improve and to learn from all the experiences. However, something unexpected makes his life upside down. This unexpected event kept me at the edge of my seat, though I must say I expected much from the ending of this title. I give this story three stars because I was entertained, but the book did not blow my mind.
It is a perfect book for people who don't have much free time and want to enjoy a good thriller, because it is short and intense. Issac Templeton is a successful man, both professionally and personally. He is an attorney with a thriving law practice and has a good relationship with his girlfriend; but his comfortable life will take a sharp turn into really creepy dark and unpredictable realms. I read it in one sitting almost without realizing it. The author deftly handles sci-fi elements and integrates them in a natural way, for that reason it was easy to read and understand. Also, it keeps the intrigue throughout the plot. It is a great book!
A suspense science fiction that is easy to follow, no complicated scientific jargons. Time Terminus is an easy read thriller about a lawyer having an existential crisis. The plot was entertaining but I felt like it needed more or has a lot of potential to expand or explore. I liked that it was set in Florida. Having worked with lawyers around that area of Florida made me wonder if one of them is as troubled as Isaac. The writing was good, well described setting that when Isaac smacked Alistair, I felt the blood jump out of the pages of my kindle app. I would definitely recommend a short suspense read.
This short fictional tale by Gittlin has a little bit of everything a reader is looking for: suspense, fantasy, mystery, drama and romance. The author is a brilliant storyteller, he seems to have an innate ability to catch readers’ attention by putting us in front of details that make us place ourselves inside the story. Through powerful descriptions, he masterfully creates images that appear clearly in our minds and even the sounds which are part of the story seem to echo in our minds. All these effects are definitely thanks to the author’s gifted way of portraying events in a narrative. Gittlin is now one of my favorite authors!
Although I usually read science fiction and suspense stories, the announcement of “Expect the Unexpected” keeps inviting me to choose a book. This was the case of “Time Terminus” by author David Gittlin and it did not disappoint me.
Although this is a short length book, this science fiction novel has it all: identifiable characters, time travels, suspense scenes and a plot full of surprises. The reading takes along with ease throughout a really engaging story. Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down as I wanted to know what would happen next.
I am sure this book would keep any kind of reader´s eyes glued to the pages!
At first glance, the cover may suggest that the content is not very appealing, but let me tell you that readers should not judge this book by its cover. That happened to me when I came across this book, but I decided to give it a try and the truth is that I don't regret it. I love stories that take many turns and where the lives of the protagonists take a 180-degree turn. David Gittlin is the author of “Time Terminus”, a great science fiction novel with time travel, where Issac Templeton's life changes in the blink of an eye. I recommend this book to all lovers of science fiction and stories with many twists and turns.
Time Terminus: Expect the unexpected is a fiction novel written by David Gittlin. The book follows the story of Isaac Templeton, an attorney living just a normal life back in Fort Lauderdale. After unusual and inexplicable events, his life turns upside down when he meets Hennessy, a scientist who discovered a strange alien rock, with unimaginable power.
I enjoyed this novel; it checks every box. The story starts a little bit slow in my opinion but is necessary for a better understanding of the characters and the plot. Time travel is a common topic in literature, so is hard to write something fresh and non-predictable. This is the case, an amazing story with a mind-blowing ending.
Time Terminus: Expect the Unexpected is a good book. I usually avoid anything with the word TIME in the title, but after reading the reviews, I decided to try it anyway. I am definitely not disappointed the story kept me interested, and the author didn’t use the time aspect as a patch for lazy writing. It’s an authentic part of the story. I also liked how I thought I knew what was going on in every chapter only to find myself re-evaluating in the next one, and as I’m writing this, I’m even thinking about reading it again now that I know how it goes. All of the characters are great. Excellent work! I recommend this book to everyone.
A sci fi time travel thriller the is relatively short. Isaac is the main character and he is in charge of his life. He has a rocky relationship with his girlfriend and when recurring nightmares unexpectedly uproot his life he will have to choose what he wants in life and how he will fight for it. I think the book has potential. The characters were somewhat fleshed out and some didnt have a solid tie to the plot. I also think another proofreader would be good as I found a few spelling errors. As a whole the story was interesting even if a few places didnt make sense.
First of all, I want to mention that I LOVE novellas! I wish there were more of them as I think it’s a genre with a ton of potential. That said, “Time Terminus” by David Gittlin feels like maybe it should have been a full-length novel as the author packs so many ideas into this short novel that could have been explored more fully. Nevertheless, Gittlin still manages to deliver a sci-fi and time-travel themed story with plenty of interesting elements and unexpected twists. It’s a nice option for when you don’t have a ton of time to read but want an unusual story. I do recommend a good proof-reader and editor to get this book from 4 stars to 5 though.
“Time Terminus” by the gifted author David Gittlin, is the perfect book to read if you want a satisfying experience that does not take up a lot of your time. Well-written, this novella is to the point and has pleasant, bite-sized chapters. Personally, I found the turn in the story to that of nightmares and horror, not at all to my taste. However, I am giving the book a four star rating all the same because it is well written. If you enjoy this sort of thing, then this might be the perfect book for you. As you follow the life of an attorney and his girlfriend, be prepared to plunge into some unexpected and terrifying pits.
Time Terminus: Expect the Unexpected is a catching novel by author David Gittlin. The book tells the story of Issac Templeton, a successful attorney from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. His life runs smoothly, a wonderful professional career, a fulfilling personal relationship but as we all know, life can change in a blink of an eye. All of the sudden, his dream life turns into a horrible nightmare. The story is full of twists and turns that make it impossible to stop reading it. Readers are kept on the alert throughout the book and are eager to reveal the mysteries introduced. Fiction fans will find a gem in this magnificent, engaging and intriguing novel.
