☆☆☆☆☆ One of my top 2022 reads! Don’t miss this one.
The utterly twisted plot and the unpredictable ending are the perfect way to heat up a cold and snowy day! Ms. Sloane does a fantastic job at keeping her readers flipping pages until the very end. I didn’t come close to guessing the conclusion!

This is a fairly long book and I didn’t realize it until I picked it up. I try to keep my books under 400 pages but I was delighted that I was entertained throughout.

Teenage girls can be mean. They can be best friends one day and enemies the next. And money adds a whole new level of wickedness. It’s crazy how most girls will follow the cues of the most popular girl. Although when you’re that age it doesn’t seem so crazy.

The setting was one part of this book I found fascinating. I spent part of my childhood around that area so I was familiar with places that were referenced. Ms. Sloane is an excellent storyteller!

Thanks to Kate Rock Book Tours for the invitation and e-ARC of this five-star book!

Even though this book is pretty chunky, it didn't read like it! I read through it really fast. Part of the reason is the way Bianca just writes her characters so well. Second is the story...the murder of a popular teenage girl that eventually has ties to another murder that occurred years before in a different place.

I loved all the POVs. I loved getting to see into the minds of everyone involved. I felt for all the teenagers... The meanness and jealousy of some pointed at others. Social media can be such a cruel hunting ground for teens.

At one point where I had figured the murderer out, I was still really drawn to this person and why. When all the things started snapping into place, wow. It was just so thrilling and the ending was unreal!

Why haven’t books by Bianca Sloane have ever been on my radar before but now? I’m going to search out her other books because I loved this one. This is a long book with many characters and POVs, but it’s worth it because the characters are interesting and believable. The story is captivating and I sped through it because I couldn’t stop reading about the mean girls and their antics. I guessed the killer early on, but didn’t have a clue about what the final ending would be. 4.5 stars rounded up to 5.

Because I read the e-copy before my ARC came, I didn't realize this was a chonker that clocked in at 472 pages. All I know is that I was invested and read this book in just a few sittings.

The saying goes, "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned," but an equally correct phrasing is, "Hell hath no fury like a teenage girl." Pretty, popular high school student Whitney Dean is brutally stabbed to death, and despite her being universally loved, there is no shortage of suspects: her former best friend that she had a public falling-out with, her current best friend who perhaps doesn't want to live in Whitney's shadow, and the new male English teacher who was been known to get too close to female students at his former school.

The dialogue, motives, and what drove the teenage characters were so expertly done. It's hard to accurately capture the essence of a teenage girl, but the author did it with ease. I scrutinized each suspect, and to my frustration, each had a legitimate reason to want Whitney dead...but then one started to emerge who had the most twisted motive of all, and when disturbing details of a past crime eerily similar to the present one emerges, the tension escalated until it was almost unbearable! The author's notes mention her inspiration for this book was the real life murder of Kirsten Costas by her classmate Bernadette Protti in 1984, which was dubbed "The Cheerleader Murder." What a rabbit hole that was!

Thank you so much to Kate Rock Book Tours and to the author for both an e-copy and a physical ARC. AND WHEN I DIE is available now.

And When I Die is my kind of thriller. One that is inspired by a true crime.

In this book the teenage girls are not as goody two shoes as everyone believes. They are mean, inconsiderate and two faced. High school can be hard especially when you can't see danger coming from the most unlikely place.

Whitney is somewhat of a bully and used to getting her way until she is stabbed to death. There are a lot of suspects and the thrill is trying to figure out which one took Whitney out. It wasn't like they all didn't have a reason because they did. The suspense in this book is so well done just when you believe you have the right suspect something happens and you have to start over again.

The characters and personality are very different and their actions make it hard to pinpoint the killer, but once it is revealed, it's definitely not who you would think it should be.

This book just made me even more of a Bianca Sloane fan. All of her books are worth reading.

You can never go wrong by giving me a good murder to solve for Christmas! Thank you so much @katerockbooktours for sending us this advanced reader’s copy of And When I Die by Bianca Sloane! What a great way to pass the time on a cold December day by the Christmas tree!
Whitney just turned 16 when she died a horrible death. The prime suspects- her former bff, her current bff and a shady yet handsome teacher at her school.
She was the most beautiful, the most talented, the most liked, the most popular girl in school who had her whole life in front of her. However, not all was as it seemed. Whitney had a darker, meaner side to her that only a few people got to see…was it this darker side that got her killed? Or just plain old fashioned jealousy???
This one was a good one to try to figure out! I had my prime suspect in mind about halfway in but all had good potential as the true murderer. If you know someone who loves to solve murder like I do, this is the perfect gift for this holiday season! Check out our Amazon Storefront (link in bio) Happy reading! 🌺💕

3.5

I really enjoyed the writing in this book in the beginning but felt like it dragged toward the end. The multiple POVs is really fun, but then you start getting things repeated and I found myself skimming.
The characters in this are so catty and it really was like reading a soap opera but in a fun way. Then there’s a murder in the mix to make it even more dramatic.
Halfway into the book you get a shift in the story that starts taking you to a different point in time. The entire time you’re drawing connections from the past to the present. The killer is revealed around 80% into the book, which personally was too early for me. There was so much I had to read afterward to get the why and details that I found myself wanting to hurry up and get that closure.
There were great “oooh” moments in this. I enjoyed the wrap up at the end saying what happened to everyone. A nice way to end the story for sure.

I am all for a good thriller. On a cold night reading in bed while hearing the unknown noises in the background. That's the atmosphere I enjoy being in while reading a book like this.

Now I'm that reader that doesn't give details of the story, because I feel you should experience it the way I did. You will not be disappointed

This is the first time I've read a book by Bianca. After reading this book, I have to read more of her work. I loved everything about this book. You did that and I'm glad that I had the opportunity to read it. ❤💐❤💐

RE: Sad but Enthralling Story

At first, I found myself wondering why we are offered all the details included as Sloane creates the backstory. But later, it all made sense. Despite several moving parts, all of them potential suspects, Sloane is eloquent and efficient in her storytelling, drawing readers in, elevating heart rates and leaving us more and more intrigued. The ending is…well, as any good work does, it leaves us wanting more.

Okay black author! Okay black author writing about palm colored high school mean girls lol.

I liked this. I figured it out about 45% through and I was running in circles like you better not do a crazy twist. But…it wasn’t. Not to me. And I felt good about that. I thought it was interesting, the….illusions that were sprinkled were nicely added. I wouldn’t call it a favorite but definitely a 3.5

Twisty to the final chapter!

Just when I thought I had this figured out there was another surprise. This book is chock full of them, right up until the very end. I also enjoyed the antidotes and nostalgia in this story. A great read!!

Even though I didn’t find any of the characters particularly likable, this book was still very compelling. It felt like a combination of Pretty Little Liars and Desperate Housewives. Lots of POV changes.
