Two packs, two wolves. When they meet, their lives will change; for better and for worse.
Rival wolf-shifters find love in the most unlikely of places–a contentious meeting between packs. Dallas Polvere envisions a new life, far away, while Jack Scopelliti dreams of finding his one, true mate. Star-crossed and naïve, the Alpha lovers find themselves barred by tradition–torn between love and hate. When tensions reach a peak, young love defies reason, led by a light at the end of the tunnel. They pack their bags, ready to embark on a new adventure together. But fate has other plans for them.

*Spoiler free: any plot references can be understood from the book description and reels on instagram promoting the book 5/5 stars 5/5 for spice
First off, I literally could not put this book down. I read this in just over 12 hours, and it's even that long because I fell asleep reading the book... Right off the start, this book hooks you. This is a dual perspective book and I feel that sometimes dual perspective is done poorly to the point you are dragging yourself through a certain POV to get to the POV you like, but this was not the case for Fated Enemies. I thoroughly enjoyed both POVs equally and was invested in what was going on with each character. The transitions between character views was done seamlessly, and did not feel jumpy or disjointed plot wise.
Additionally, there is a time jump early on in the book. Time jumps can also be done poorly, but again Fated Enemies did not disappoint. From where the book jumped from and to was done so well, there was not too much back logging explaining what happened during that gap of time and enough information was given to understand the current state of the characters (both physically and mentally). This transition was smooth plot wise, and added to the plot due to tension built.
The plot was so well thought out! The core plot (in my opinion) did not have any gaps or random inserts that didn't flow with the overall story, and the side stories with the main characters and other side characters in the book were congruent and made sense with the core plot. The main characters's personalities were unique and fleshed out beautifully, but I really appreciated how you got a full sense of the side characters's personalities and unique quirks. The side characters did not fall flat, and honestly my favorite character isn't one of the two main characters!
SPICE. So my 5/5 rating for spice is not just strictly based on the quantity of spice in the book, but rather the overall quality. I have read some SPICY fiction (a certain monster cafe series comes to mind...) that gets a 5/5 for quantity but not quality. Fated Enemies found the perfect balance because the spice added to the plot rather than overwhelming it. When the scenes did happen, they were not out of left field for the sake of having a scene, but came very naturally from the plot. The description of the scenes were tasteful (no cringey/awkward vocabulary or overly used descriptions often used in spicy books), but left little to the imagination that made this a spicy read. Also, there are a handful of tension building scenes without certain intimate features, and dang is that tension done well!
I truly loved this book, and I could see myself rereading it because there is so much to the plot with spice rather than spice with a plot thrown in. You get invested in all of the characters, hold your breath during fight scenes, get excited for the good, and mourn with the sad. As with any book with trigger warnings, please read the warnings before you start. However, the scenes are graphic but to me they were not nearly as bad as I thought they would be when I originally read the TWs before starting. Take that with a grain of salt and listen to your personal preferences before you read! Again, great book and I am excited to see if more books come out of this series!
I gotta say the writing style and vocabulary was fantastic in this book. I’m a bit of an oddball where I get bored or disinterested depending on the writing style or vernacular used in a book, and this did not disappoint!!
This book follows two characters that are from opposing packs and listen…. I am a sucker for a good shifter/werewolf story. So the second I heard that’s what this is about, and they’re enemies???? I HAD to jump in asap.
The pacing was done so nicely, this plot and details didn’t feel rushed or prolonged too much. There’s great character development, and you truly feel the dynamics and the stress between these packs and characters.
This is just written so well, I read this all in a Sunday afternoon/evening and I could not move. I refused to move or look away from my phone until I knew what happened next!!
I found this to be a very easy read and just keeps you captivated. I kept thinking to myself throughout the book “I can’t wait to see where this goes” or “I wonder what the ending will be!!” And the emotions and passion within this book- BEAUTIFULLY DONE.
Oh my goodness, thank you SO SO MUCH Erica and Olivia for giving me the opportunity to read the ARC of your first collab project together! I'm so excited for publication day! I hope you have fun plans to celebrate!
Okay, my honest, unfiltered thoughts on the book. (Real quick, I apologize for how unnecessarily long and detailed this review will be. I wrote my feelings down while reading and I'm just sort of slapping them together for a review.)
Here goes: Honestly, it took a while for me to get into. Around the 20% mark I really started to enjoy it. As an avid fan and subscriber/patreon of Books N Betches, reading this was an absolute must purely to support Erica, but I ended up becoming incredibly invested in the story, the characters, and absolutely enjoyed the book just for itself!
I have definitely gone through a Shifter book phase (although generally the KU romances aren't my go-to type of romance novels) so I was expecting something a bit different when I jumped into this one. Again, it's a bit slow in the beginning, but I very much liked the characters and their sweet and puppy-love-esque romance as it develops piece by piece. (Don't worry, it gets spicy later ;p ) The tone is lless action-packed in comparison to some other shifter books I've read, but this allowed us time to bond with the leads and really feel for them. I really loved how we got to feel each characters' emotional state, and get to understand what was going on for them even before we bonded with them as a couple. It felt like a really strongly developed story, not just a romance, and it's super great! I loved this about the book!
Ack, I really loved the world-building! This book definitely feels different from other Shifter books I've read, and absolutely in a good way!! It (the word building) was really interesting. Understanding how the packs live sort of isolated from the "real world" and how they chose not to have modern connections or necessities such as an ID or Driver's License (living off the grid, I suppose) was such an interesting take on our world and how the packs fit into it. I love how we have a clear idea of where the story is located and how isolated the packs are. We very quickly have different vibes from each of the packs and how they chose to live their lives. One pack being secluded and comfortably uneducated and focused on their land and shifter community, while the other is more "developed" and integrated into the "real world."
Another thing I really appreciated was how independently the characters were created! I often find that in romances, if one of the leads doesn't exist, the other doesn't particularly have any personality or self reliance. I could see each character as an individual, not just crafted to fit into their fated puzzel piece.
The authors really did a great job at blending and melding the story, the complex and the tie-ins. I always notice this in books (when it's done well) and it gets me really excited and hyped up! The big climax and little twist that happens near the end was unexpected yet was slighty eluded to earlier in the book! I love that it wasn't so obvious that I was epxecting something right from the get-go, but I realized, after the fact, that we got little hints or clues earlier! Excelant job, folks!
Anyway, the book was super good, sweet, fun and spicy! I loved it and I am so SO happy and grateful to receive an ARC, thank you both so so much!
4.5⭐️ I really enjoyed this book. It tugged at my heart strings, made me laugh, and I devoured it in a day. Good plot, good spice, great ending. I loved the wolf aspect of it and thought it was really well done. The first person writing was also excellent. Definitely recommend!
So, I’m going to start by saying miscommunication is something I loathe. Hate it. So the first third of this book, I was skeptical. But then it magically turned into this crazy, witches, wolves and murder (oh my) run away train. In theory, the plot is simple. Star crossed lovers from the wrong sides of the tree line, parents want them to have nothing to do with each other while they wage war on one another, and then of course, they are torn apart (by miscommunication which makes me murderous). But then the book steps into a whole new sub plot about enemies to lovers/touch her and die/I’ll do anything for you vibes and this is the magical part of the book. The action and twist and turns that roll out make it unable to be put down once you’re in its grasp. If you were Team Jacob, believe in soul mates, and have three hours uninterrupted, pick up this book.
I'm a huge fan of Olivia Rose, so when I saw she had ARC applications on her Instagram, I had to sign up. Side note: you should definitely check out her other book and novellas.
If you want a well written shifter romance, then you're in luck. E.L. DePinto and Oliva Rose's first collab is what you're looking for. It was so well written and it had a good flow that made it impossible to put down. It had a dual POV between the FMC and the MMC in the first person. Dallas and Jack are a modern day fantasy Romeo and Juliet. Their fathers are neighboring rivals and it is clear from the beginning how much they dislike each other. Even through all of their issues, Jack and Dallas fall in love. As a dual POV, we got to know what was going on in both of their heads on their feelings towards each other and how they felt about all the curveballs thrown at them.
This is a fantasy shifter romance story, emphasis on the romance. There isn't a lot of spicy scenes but the touches here and there, eye contact, and other intimate moments are seeping with sexual tension. The scenes add to the overall story and it doesn't feel forced as other books can.
I love a good side character, and this novel had a few. Jack's brother, Enzo, is such a cinnamon roll ❤ I love how we get to see his relationship with his brother and with other packmates. And not only are there shifters but there are witches as well. The ones we meet in this story are hilarious and gave the book a bit of levity.
If you love rival families, forbidden romance, a world with shifters and witches, strong FMCs, and new book boyfriends then check this book out. As always, please check out all trigger warnings before starting a book.
Thank you Oliva and Erika for the opportunity to had an ARC to your first collab 🖤
Hell yeah. The paranormal Romeo and Juliet I can get behind. The kind with a good ending that's actually a love story. Likeable characters, romance you root for, angst that makes your heart ache. I gobbled this book up in a few hours and wish I had more. More Dallas and Jack please!!! My first book by both these authors but definitely not last, I loved their writing. *I received an ARC from the authors
This book was so consuming that I didn't notice the time go by until I finished it and it had reached 5 am. Honestly such a great book, I loved the characters and the plot was simple and easy to follow. But, it wasn't predictable - I definitely did not see some of the things coming. Usually I hate reading time jumps because it gets really confusing, but the authors did such a good job writing the time jumps in this book that I had no problem following the plot. I definitely recommend.
Olivia and I worked on this together, basically writing exactly half and half! Can you guess who wrote which parts? Ha! We hope you enjoy this smutty shifter book as much as we did writing it! Paperbacks coming soon... possibly novellas for other characters coming soon as well!
The initial plot is loosely based off Romeo and Juliet with two rival pack leaders finding teenage love in each other to only be violently ripped away from one another. Picking back up years later, the two ex-lovers find their way back to each other and uncover the truth that no one meant to find.
Honestly, I wasn’t sure how much I would like this ARC once I realized it was pretty much a Romeo and Juliet retelling with heavy miscommunication tropes (which I notoriously don’t like). But the authors did an amazing job of making me invested in the characters, enough so that I didn’t even really mind that it was miscommunication. Also, the pacing and time jump really helped alleviate some of the annoyance that I have with this trope too by moving the story along so it didn’t feel like it was dragging in the miscommunication.
Moreover, the ability to successfully write a split POV story where I’m invested in both characters, as well as implement a time just that doesn’t have a winded backstory, but is there to truly further the plot along impressed me.
Additionally, the authors did an amazing job at tricking you into a sense of security where you feel like you know all of the plot lines and can guess what is happened, but then realize you barely touched the surface on the underlying plot and nuances built into the story.
Overall, there was a lot packed into this book (not even mentioning the spice 🌶😏) that was beautifully done and I think it is well worth the read.
I don’t actually mention shifter romances a lot here but the actual fact is, I bloody love them! So when Olivia told me about her and E.L. DePinto’s new book, Fated Enemies, I knew I would devour it.
And devour it I did.
I started the damn thing at 9pm and it was finished by 9am the next morning. And I slept in that time too!
The world building in this story was so refreshing. Spending just the right amount of time on our fMC and MMCs backstory, then launching us to present day.
This is a forbidden love mixed with betrayal, witches, growth and lots of nudity (it is excellent so it needs to be pointed out).
The quick wit is impeccable, the villain is vile and this was an all round fantastic story.
I had so much damn fun with this book. My only criticism is I want more!!!
I adored this book! It’s so well written, the pace of the story is great and the characters are really well developed! It’s a fated mates, friends to lovers to enemies to lovers, second chance romance! The story mainly revolves around the romance between the main characters, with the plot creating events that get between them. I really enjoyed that the hierarchy that’s usually at the forefront of shifter books wasn’t here and was slightly different! Olivia and Erika did an amazing job with this book and I do recommend it if you are into shifter romance! Always check the trigger warnings at the beginning of the book!
A solid four star rating for this dual POV friends to lovers to enemies tale. Dallas, heir to the Washington pack, falls for Jack, the Lafayette’s next leader. Cue Romeo and Juliet-esque feud as the two are kept apart on the night they’re to run away. Will fated enemies eventually become fated mates? Or is the feud too big to overcome?
I devoured the first 2/3 of this book. The story is fast-paced and the prose reads so naturally. It was easy to keep swiping next on my Kindle. Unfortunately I wasn’t a huge fan of the last 1/3 of the story. I personally felt that a lot of new storyline material was thrown in at the last second to complete the tale. Little drops of details (especially regarding the witches and vampires) peppered throughout would’ve gone a long way to better lead up to the ending.
I also couldn’t help but visualize a bunch of naked shifters fighting among one another in the final scenes… that could just be my own mental issues, but it made it difficult to take a serious scene… seriously.
If you love friends to enemies to lovers, with a side of shifter thrown in, I would recommend this book and look forward to more by this pair (perhaps a sequel featuring the vampires is in the works?).
I devoured this book in one day. It was so so good. I loved the angst with the miscommunication trope was just perfect. I love the idea of it being a Romeo and Juliet style story. I haven't read werewolf romance in so long and this definitely hit the spot. I enjoyed the FMC Dallas. I really think she found her strength in the book. I enjoyed the spice so much. I can't recommend this one enough.
Fated Mates is recommended for 18+. I really can't recommend this one enough. I wouldn't be upset if we got another book in this world from other characters...
*I was given this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review
Fated Enemies by Olivia Rose and E.L. DePinto ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 🌶️🌶️🌶️
ARC - Will be published on Kindle on 8.31.22
Jack and Dallas are each the children of the Alphas of their packs. The packs and especially their fathers don’t see eye to eye, but that doesn’t stop these two from being insanely attracted to each other.
The miscommunication in this book is one of the best written examples of the trope that I have ever come across. Both of the characters say the right things, but because their understanding of the problems are so skewed it just leads to further misunderstanding and when things finally become clear, it doesn’t fix all the damage. I love that.
I really enjoyed this book. I love a good shifter romance and this one had a couple fun twists. I think the title alone gives you a very clear idea of the journey you are about to take. You will get star crossed lovers, miscommunication, magic and shifters. If that sounds like it’s up your alley, I do not think you will be disappointed.
I always recommend reading books written by fellow readers. They know how to do it right. And Olivia and Erica nailed their first collab.
📚 𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲: Shifter romance
📖 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀: Dallas and Jack are two will-be alphas from Rival packs, but their attraction sizzles anyway. But one unfortunate night rips them apart. Years later, Dallas is back and town and the same draw is bringing them together again.
🌟 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: This book had everything the Shifter community absolutely adores. It checked all the boxes.
Big growly alpha? ✔️ Fated mates? ✔️ Pack politics and fights for dominance? ✔️ Swoony moments ✔️
I loved how this read, especially the second half, which had me turning pages so fast it felt like it flew by. Can't wait to see what else these two put out in the future.
A big thank you to the authors for letting me review an ARC of their book!
3.5 /5⭐ 3/5 🌶️
This book is written really well. I usually don't enjoy the miscommunication trope, but in this case it worked really well. My biggest problem was that I felt like the pacing got rushed towards the end. About 70% through, there's a plot point that felt like it came out of nowhere. That plot point along with where I thought the plot was originally going, made the end feel a little messy to me.
I really enjoyed this book! The two main characters were so well written. The writing really created the scenes in my mind so clearly. I loved the vocabulary & felt the plot line was really well laid out for a short book. I can be picky if I don’t feel there is enough time for a love story to bloom or for us to hit the spice. That was not one of those times. I was hooked right away & loved this binge worthy read.
This book was everything I hoped it would be. Not only was it a quick read but it had suspense, passion and some tragedy. I highly recommend this book for readers who enjoy the paranormal shifter genre. Great read overall.
Like many of the other reviewers, I could not put this book down. I fell into the one more chapter game, till my husband yelled at me to "go to bed"! If you have been in a book slump, if you have been looking for something fast paced, but with an amazing story line, this book is for you. So many little twists and turns, I can't say enough good things about this book!
Shifter book at its finest! The characters are likable but still complex. The steam was fantastic but didn’t overpower the story. And the story? Not predictable and totally enjoyable. If steamy shifter books are your thing (how can they not be?!?!) you absolutely will not be disappointed!
DIOS.
This was my first shifter book and was an ARC! I really enjoyed the storyline. The Romeo and Juliet-esque nature of it all. The angst was solid! It was definitely an enjoyable read and I liked Jack a lot 😍
“Hearing her voice for the first time was like a religious experience; I’d worship every word she said if given the chance.” Fated Enemies
I’m normally not a shifter romance lover, since I’m a mood reader, I have to be in a specific mood to read this type of romance. But this book was absolutely addicting and really made me want to read more shifter romances.
It gave me the same feeling Blood & Chocolate did (a book I’ve read 1000 times) which was extremely nostalgic for me. It brought me back to why I read. Which is for the feeling a book gives you. The romance was cute, the sex scene was a great build up to with tension, the plot point kept me interested, and overall this was a good book. I kept turning the page wanting more and I really enjoyed the characters as well. Dallas and Jack showed character growth, attraction and chemistry, and they were entertaining to read about.
I’m giving it 3.75 for a few reasons, one being the beginning. It was a little too much insta love for me (which isn’t my fave trope), so if that would have been written to be a little longer I would have been a bit more attached to the relationship as a whole. Two, I wish the miscommunication tension was drawn out longer too. Get a little more angst and tension to really drive that final connection (the spice) to one another and make the reader feel that spark. Which I did feel reading it, it just would have been a little more elevated to have more tension added into the mix. Also, a little more world building would have bumped this story up as a whole too. Because the witches, vampires and shifters were fascinating but I wanted to know more detail as a reader.
But overall, I really enjoyed Fated Enemies and I would most definitely be reading more books by these authors in the future. They have a knack for story telling and drawing the reader in. And I really loved the feeling this story gave me. Especially because I could not put it down.
So if you’re looking for a quick shifter romance to keep you intrigued, this is definitely for you.
Thank you to the author Olivia Rose for a copy of this arc in exchange for my honest review
When I first heard werewolf romance I had to read it and I’m glad I did. I really enjoyed this book! That’s why I gave it 4 stars.
Dallas And Jack are children of rival alphas. Star crossed lovers from birth but you can’t help yourself from rooting for them because of how lovable they are. Jack will do anything for his family and Dallas the only female in generations is very strong willed and smart.
I loved how their story started right away it wasn’t necessarily an insta-love but you definitely felt the tension and angst between them. It was fast paced and had me flipping through the pages. The spice was really good and one of my favorite parts. Last I wasn’t expecting some of those twists in the last half of the book! Definitely kept me on my toes.
I received this ARC for an honest review. That being said I loved this book! Friends to lovers to enemies to lovers! Amazing. The tension was delicious! I thought I had the plot figured out and I was pleasantly surprised! The spice was amazing! Plot kept me guessing! Best shifter romance I’ve read in a long time! Pick this up you won’t be disappointed!!
“Hearing her voice for the first time was like a religious experience; I’d worship every word she said if given a chance.”
“He’d been attractive at 18, but in a cute, approachable way. At 22? He was mouthwateringly, unattainably sexy.”
“Because when it came to Dallas Polvere, I didn’t have a single fucking ounce of self-control.”
“Souring the kraut?” “What the fuck is a kraut?!”
“I cannot believe I’m on Polvere burial grounds, digging up a dead Polvere, while also being assaulted,” he pointed a glare towards me and exaggerated, “by a Polvere!” “Oh my God, you are so dramatic.”
“I don’t think I’ve ever heard you use so many consecutive syllables.” “I don’t know what consecutive means,”
Enjoy some of my favorite quotes because I could not just pick one 🤷🏼♀️
This book was delicious. Absolutely delectable. Dallas and Jack were so perfect for each other and I was obsessed with them by like 15% in. Dallas is the daughter of the Alpha of the Washington pack, making her soon to be Alpha. While Jack is the son of the Alpha of the rival LaFayette pack, making him soon to be Alpha.
This book is basically Romeo and Juliet meets Wolf shifters and I loved it.
ALSO, can we talk about Enzo and Zora?? These two are some of my favorite side characters I’ve ever read about. Enzo is Jacks brother and the kind heart this boy has is the cutest. He’s a little mamas boy and I adored him. Zora is a little firecracker. She is the witch that helps Dallas out and boy is she fun. I want to be best friends with her. Zora trying to spell out $ex for Dallas without actually saying it is one of my favorite scenes in the whole book (if you’ve read it you know exactly what scene I am talking about)
Overall? Amazing. The only reason this doesn’t get 5 stars is Jack is infuriating sometimes. This book does ride on miscommunication and mainly that is because Jack is so annoyingly stubborn. HOWEVER, I think Dallas balances him out well and he does eventually get better.
If you like shifter novels, you should definitely read this, even if it’s just to meet Dallas because she is sassy and fun and my absolute favorite. Also, the soda trying scene was one of my favorites and every needs to read it 👀
