Book 1: Blue Blood Meets Blue Collar Book 2: Trapped with Temptation
USA Today bestselling author Cynthia St. Aubin wrote her first play at age eight and made her brothers perform it for the admission price of gum wrappers. A steal, considering she provided the wrappers in advance. Though her early work debuted to mixed reviews, she never quite gave up on the writing thing, even while earning a mostly useless master's degree in art history and taking her turn as a cube monkey in the corporate warren.
Because the voices in her head kept talking to her, and they discourage drinking at work, she started writing instead. When she's not standing in front of the fridge eating cheese, she's hard at work figuring out which mythological, art historical, or paranormal friends to play with next. She lives in Colorado with the love of her life and three surly cats.
"Trapped with Temptation" is part of "The Renaud Brothers" series. I enjoyed reading Shelby and Bastien's story. When Bastien wasn't responding to Shelby's voicemails about doing a solo show at her father's gallery, she went to him. Her goal was to convince him into doing the show. She didn't plan on getting snowed in with him. Cynthia always does such a great job with her characters and stories, and this one did not disappoint at all. The scene about the dedication piece had me smiling like crazy. I enjoy reading about the Renaud Brothers and can see myself re-reading this book.
This one was pretty decent. I liked Bastien and Shelby--grumpy/sunshine is becoming one of my favorite tropes--and when he got all growly over her it was perfection. This is another second in the series where I haven't read the first one yet, and once again I was left wondering if having read the first one would have given me more of the MMC's background then I got here (more specifics about his stint in jail, the brothers' relationships, etc). Shelby and Bastien's relationship was a bit more rushed and less in person than I would have liked--hearing some of those voice mails might have helped, maybe? It is a shorter book, though, so page space *is* limited. Overall, though, this was still a pretty good story--I just wanted to know a bit more about the before than we actually got.
And can I just say--Bar Harbor?!?! And Acadia?!?! (only on Shelby's hat for the park rep, but I'll take it!)

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
The recluse Renaud brother has had a rough go at life, between his father’s criminality and his own time incarcerated Bastien needs some good. Shelby is part of a wealthy art collecting family, adopted young she still hasn’t gotten used to the lifestyle. After numerous attempts asking Bastien to allow her gallery to display his art she takes matters into her own hands. Their personalities are quite similar, the intensity between them is powerful and the intimacy is off the charts sexy. This is the third Renaud brother, Law was part of another series and Remy had the first book, however the stories are standalone.
I am a huge fan of Cynthia St Aubin and pretty much read everything she has ever written, so it pains me a bit that I could not give this book more stars. Even though I liked the characters and they had good chemistry, the book just felt rushed to me, I guess I wanted more of them. Also I would have preferred more backstory since it gave me the feeling I was missing something. But overall I liked the read and it was well written and I will definitely get the next book in the series.
I enjoyed Bastian and Shelby's story. I saw another reviewer call this a grumpy/sunshine trope and it definitely is. Bastian is a full time recluse and wants nothing to do with Shelby. Like clockwork she leaves him a weekly voice mail until she suddenly shows up at his hometown. The banter, push/pull and sexy times made them cute couple. I was intrigued by her siblings, as we didn't get much of them. but omg, the soon to be stepmom is a piece of work. Loved the epilogue hea.
