Three months. One contract. Will it be enough to save a marriage of twenty-eight years?
Walter Winslow thoroughly enjoyed his orderly and predictable life. He left for work at exactly the same time each day, ate the same thing for lunch, and returned home to revel in the comfort of a home-cooked meal and his favorite programming on the telly. Though not particularly thrilling, his life was utterly comfortable. That is, until one day, Wendy--his wife of twenty-eight years--asked for a divorce.
Wendy Winslow had spent her life doing exactly what was expected of her. She got an education, married a sensible man, birthed two lovely boys, raised them to adulthood, moved across the Atlantic to Colorado to be a part of their lives, and then...she had no idea what came next. Somehow, in the child-rearing and homemaking, she'd forgotten everything about herself and then some. Now living in a strange country with a life that felt anything like her own, she desperately needed to rewrite her story...and was fairly sure there was no room for Walter in it.
In a hail-Mary attempt to salvage their marriage, Walter proposed a three month do-over in what he knew was Wendy's dream location: Paris. With contract in-hand, Walter makes the most terrifying leap of his life to chase the woman he thought he'd be with forever. But it may be too little, too late.
I loved this book and this author specifically. Cindy Gunderson has an amazing way of writing and making you feel like the characters are really real. I loved this story from beginning to end and I was rooting for each main characters happiness all throughout.
A perfectly lovely read! Captivating right from the start, readers can relate their own relationship challenges to those of Walter and Wendy. Gunderson explores with tenderness the perils of getting comfortable in a relationship, and maybe some insight into how to avoid that. Her robust imagery let's you experience the streets of Paris along with the characters, and her thought provoking exploration of human nature will have you taking sides, and then maybe changing sides. Easy reading and hard to put down. I enjoyed the tale to the end.
I received an ARC copy of this book from the author. I've enjoyed her books in the past and enjoyed this one as well.
The protagonists are real people, caught in the complacency of many years of marriage. Having been married 28 years, I could certainly relate to some of their challenges. I enjoyed see the situation from both protagonist's point of view, and enjoyed watching them sort through their personal challenges and perspectives.
A fun, easy read, and it asks some good questions.
Is a well-written Christian clean romance. 28 years of marriage is not nothing, but if everything seems to go wrong, can the marriage still be saved in three months in Paris? Wendy and Walter go for it and through many ups and downs they get to know themselves and each other better. They try very hard but don't know if the experiment will succeed.
Super cute book! Very realistic look at what can happen in a marriage if there isn’t good communication and priority isn’t placed on maintaining a good relationship.
Walter is happy with his life, same routine but not so for Wendy. After many years of marriage, a little change is needed. Definitely realistic. Loved everything about this story.
5.0 out of 5 stars A lovely later in life romance! Reviewed in the United States on October 18, 2020 I really enjoyed this story. The characters were well developed and the story was very realistic. It was interesting to receive this story from both viewpoints. I definitely recommend this book! I received an ARC and this is my honest opinion.
5 amazing and fun stars for a book that kept me entertained and enthralled from page one. In a mundane life where everything is done the same way for 28 yrs, a married couple find themselves in need of more. Where did the years go and how did they get to this place? It is a very good story of change where two people can improve their relationship and it is worth a try to spice up your love life when you have hit a rut. I truly enjoyed this very real story with two very real protagonists. Very fast read with little lag in the story line.
Thank you to the author for allowing me to read this book via a giveaway on goodreads for an honest review.
Nice little romance. Not my usual type of read which could be why it took so long to finish. No big surprises. Setting in Paris was fun. If you enjoy romances, this is a quick little story.
"Let's Try This Again: But this time in Paris" by Cindy Gunderson A fun story. I enjoyed my time within this story and the British accent of the lead character, but unsure how it was she was living in Colorado, USA. This really is a sweet clean contemporary romance story with excellent narration. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Happy Reading ! ! Notes: I was gifted a free audio book of this title. This is my honest opinion.
The book was a bit up and down for me. The book starts with the fact that Wendy has looked after Walter, who is stuck in his ways, mostly without complaint, for 28 years! but one day decides she’s had enough. What I thought really odd, she decides to act by leaving her grocery cart in the middle of the supermarket and walking out! Goes home and when Walter arrives home she throws boxes of his clothes etc out the bedroom window and he “faints?” But I did like that Walter, although totally shocked, because he had no clue, (men!) lol. does want to be better and comes up with the plan of 3 months in Paris (interesting plan, not what you imagine!) There were times I liked Walter a lot more than Wendy who could be quite unreasonable! But I did enjoy the story. It was totally different and I found Walter endearing. The book gave the impression he didn’t get involved in the children’s lives, yet it was obvious he was always overjoyed to hear from his kids. It was him who wanted to follow them to America. What I didn’t get was Walt and Wendy lived in Colorado and the boys lived in California What I didn’t enjoy was the editing errors, she left her cart in the supermarket, yet later it said when she’d finished unpacking the groceries ! ( I notice stuff like that, and there were several) They were British but followed their sons to the states! One chapter said 9 years ago. One said 15 years ago. Even at 9 years, 28 years married means their eldest son would have been 18! So time lines didn’t make sense. If not for the editing this book would have been an easy 5 stars for me.
I loved Walter. While I do understand Wendy's frustration I thought she was a little selfish. A couple who have been married for years hits a bump in the road or is it the end? Wendy has lost herself and is just ready to end the marriage. Walter had no idea she felt this way and begs for a chance to save the marriage. Really enjoyed hearing both of their points of view. I didn't care for Wendy's bff Mary. The narrator was amazing and now one of my very favorites. Did an amazing job of switching voices and accents. Will time in Paris be all that Wendy thinks she wants? Or will it be what Walter wants? There are some sad moments and aha moments. Liked the ending but wish there had been an epilogue.
4 stars Very cute book. I finished it this afternoon by the pool and loved it. It was not your usual rom com. It held a lot more depth, and I loved that. The characters were interesting and had thoughts/dreams that were really relatable and touched my heart. I was really quite invested in their story and couldn't put the book down. My only regret about this book is the ending. It seemed almost a little rushed and thrown together. I would have loved for it to end with them possibly renewing vows or something of the sort. Although, that could just be personal opinion haha. Overall loved this book.
This was a relatable story, written clearly with struggles that sometimes hit close to home. It was great to see it unfold. Wendy & Walter had plenty of depth & clarity along with true turmoil to work through. An enjoyable read!
⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 This was a very different book from my usual read & I enjoyed it!
I am not married & never been. I still could see family members in the characters here.

Book Synopsis: "Three months. One contract. Will it be enough to save a marriage of twenty-eight years?

In a hail-Mary attempt to salvage their marriage, Walter proposes a three-month do-over in what he knew was Wendy's dream location: Paris. With contract in hand, Walter makes the most terrifying leap of his life to chase the woman he thought he'd be with forever. But it may be too little, too late."
Walter and Wendy Winslow are in a rut after 28 years of marriage. So when Wendy sees a fashionable young woman in great shape and appearing very happy with her life, Wendy has an epiphany. Divorce her husband, the solid but stodgy guy that he is, and get on with her life. But Walter can’t imagine life without Wendy. I mean, who will iron his shirts and prepare his perfect meals? Doesn’t even seem to notice they have NOTHING in common besides 2 kids and an address. SMH!
When Wendy asks, no, demands, a divorce, Walter is shell shocked. But he surprises Wendy by begging for 3 months to try to work it out. Her response to that is, ok, but in Paris, separate lodging, and only 2 ‘dates’ a week during that time.
The rest of the story is about their Paris time, their self-discovery, their impressions of their spouse, their sons, and their success or lack of (don’t want to spoil it for you). To me the story, as written, was very unbelievable. I mean, who would go 28 years living in a totally platonic marriage with barely and verbal communication between them? And very little life outside of their home?
3 stars because it was an easy read and it did have a bit of excitement towards the end.
I really enjoyed this story. While rooting for Wendy to live out her dreams in Paris (I mean who wouldn't?) I started dreaming about what I would do if the opportunity ever presented itself and where I would go. Wendy and Walter are relatable on so many levels. It was fun to read and follow along with their daily adventures.
I enjoyed the ending and Walter, the husband, was endearing, so four stars. Also enjoyable for bringing a note of realism: the growing confusion of Walter’s wife, Wendy, as she realizes that much of her dissatisfaction is self-created.
Much of the novel, however, was slow-paced — more of a three star read.
