When Alec collapses with a fever, it falls on Shiori to nurse him back to health. But it’s not just Shiori who is left worried—powerful friends from Alec’s past appear, intrigued by the housekeeping mage the magic swordsman has grown so close to.
Alec then picks up a request posted by Shiori herself: taking her familiar Rurii on a trip back home. The trip marks a chance for the two to get to know each other better, but it might also mean surviving a literal ocean of slimy magical beasts in the wondrous winter environment of the Blue Forest...
Got distracted and took a loooong break in the middle of this one. Still a good adaptation of the light novel, with very few things to dislike. Cute and heartwarming, most of the time. Does have some darker themes show up in this one and that will most likely be in the next - but these were handled really well in the light novel and I hope they will be handled well in the manga as well.
I am liking this story. It has all elements of a good romantasy: kind and thoughtful hero, a timid but strong mage/heroine, and some twists and turns. Worth reading.
Continues to be a cute story, and a few of the minor qualms I had with how the relationship seemed to jump ahead on Shiori's part got dialed back in this volume, which was nice to see.
I'm glad we're getting more backstory on the characters, though I still find some of the stuff with Shiori's old party...odd? Too over the top, maybe? They're veering on clown villain level of assholery, and I'm finding myself wishing either for a little more explanation (or maybe I'm just hoping for a better one?) for why the old gm was in on it too. It seems to be just about making some more money off her? Idk, I'd like that unpacked a bit more.
But otherwise, it's a cute story and I love the side cast. It's still a tad 'simple' for me in how the plot and tropes are being approached, but it's an enjoyable read.
