L.I.F.E. Too

Rate this book
Rider Williams is a typical high school student. He has classes, plays guitar, and dreams of being a journalist. He’s out at school, even if it wasn’t his choice, and he’s secretly dating a boy from the basketball team. Okay, so he’s not your typical high school student.

While Rider might be out, his relationship with Cameron Walker is not. Cam loves their time together. What he feels for Rider is something he’s never felt before, but despite being head over heels for each other, both struggle to say how they truly feel.

Maybe the class trip to New York City will be the push they need to grow even closer? Or maybe not. Turns out Rider and Cam have to share their room with Octavius Spencer and Michael Myers—two of Rider’s biggest enemies. Relationships are difficult in high school, and even more so when they’re half in the closet.

Can Rider and Cam survive their senior year?

There’s still plenty of the school year left, but Rider knows L.I.F.E. is just getting started.

L.I.F.E Too is a winner!

I loved Felyx Lawson's "L.I.F.E." Introducing us to the delightful adventures of Belmont High School students. But I have to admit, I think the sequel, "L.I.F.E. Too" is even better than its predecessor. The reason Lawson's books are so readable are his characters. Rider is a small fellow with bangs of hair and hypnotically beautiful dark brown eyes. He's geeky and clumsy and adorable. He is also a young man of conviction and strong character as he walks Belmont High hallways as an out young Gay man. Rider's boyfriend is Cameron, a star on the school basketball team, and his sensitivity and thoughtfulness smash negative jock stereotypes. "L.I.F.E. Too" deals, in part, with Cam's coming out. There is a friend group of well-developed characters - Jane, Sam and Lloyd. One plot concerns a transgender student. There are fires to walk through - violent hate crimes and obnoxious insecure students who harass Rider with verbal pejoratives. One student enemy of Riders has an awakening to the harm of her homophobic behavior, and she transforms during the story and becomes open-minded and caring. Another star on the basketball team surprises expectations by showing a strong allyship. The center piece of this warm, charming, and romantic YA romp is a school trip to New York City and the mischief that ensues. Felyx Lawson is an excellent wordsmith, and his plots never drag. It's hard to take a break from reading once you turn that first page. The book is a winner for its charm, realistic characters, humor, pathos, and its undeniable readability. I can't wait for book three!

I fell in love with the first book, LIFE and LIFE Too was no exception. I don't think there will ever be a time when I'm not in love with Felyx's writing or characters.
LIFE Too is Cam and Rider's continuing story and I was hooked by page one. Cam and Rider are a joy to follow through this book as they face their own worries and build on their relationship. There's so much going on in this book, love, hate, worry, forgiveness, and not everyone is what they seem. Felyx does a wonderful job pulling you in and letting his characters steal your heart.
Rider is much too sweet for this world.
There's a lot that's learned in here and a lot that happens. Rider's water curse follows him even to New York, Trish and Quintin are the best allies/friends in this book and the New York trip is so fun! The little bit of foreshadowing leaves you wondering what will come next...
It's all so cute and all so fun!
Overall I loved this book and recommend it to anyone and everyone.

Needs an American Proof Reader

I still really want to support this series and author (and will totally read the next one) but the writing on this one seemed a little rougher than the first book. There are a number of situations and words that just don’t sound right. From going “to hospital” to overly using the word “jock” to something like soccer rules for subbing in a basketball game, I hope the next been gets a read through by an American (since it’s set in the US). Situations also seem turned up in a lot of places, no shades of gray. Would recommend for people who support YA M/M authors.

More of the same from the first book. The author does a lot of great things with the continuity of the story/characters.

I like how each character grows - even some of the mean characters from the previous story.

My opinions didn't change from my review of the first book so not much more to say other than this just feels like I sat down and read a 1000 page book instead of three separate books, in a good way.

Awesome!

The continued story of Rider and Cam and all the love and difficulties that exist in life. It’s a beautiful story about the depths of life and love. Bravo!

I probably shouldn't have read the sequel to a book in which I felt like the characters acted in a way that real people don't act.
