Spicy Fae Romantasy · Enemies to Lovers · Villain Gets the Girl · Deadly Trials · Forbidden Love · Obsessive and Possessive · Multi-Couple Series

MORTALS CALL US MONSTERS. BUT WE’RE FAR WORSE THAN THAT.

For centuries, we’ve ruled over this world. But one night, three human sisters broke our rules. So we punished them, forced them into our dark, dangerous, and decadent realm. In the land of Faerie, we made these rebellious women play three deadly games.

We didn’t expect them to defy us. We didn’t expect them to win, much less to consume us with a forbidden desire, to seduce our black, sinful hearts.

Now they’re our fated mates, our equals, our everything. With the slightest touch, these women stoke a passionate fire that burns eternally.

Indeed, we’ve become even more vicious than before. Because now we have something to protect. Something more valuable than power, magic, and dominance.

A fatal battle looms between humans and Fae. And we’ll do whatever it takes to keep our mates safe. Even if it means tearing apart our world—and risking our immortal souls.

Dark Fables: Vicious Faeries is a hot multi-couple adult romantasy series that must be read in order. Perfect for readers who want a dark, high-stakes series finale where obsessive fae love, epic battles, and a final war between faeries and humans bring the series to its unforgettable conclusion.

As much as it pains me to give a story written by miss Jaster anything but a glowing review, this was just not It.

First of all, I just think this book was a tad unnecessary. This conclusion might have been reached just as well within three books, albeit more fast-paced ones (and a bit longer) than what we got. Second of all...as much as I simply ADORE Natalia Jaster's poetic, flowery writing, it felt a touch over-the-top here, especially with the sex scenes.

All in all, this was a story heavy with smut. And I can't quite believe I'm saying this, but it was maybe...too much? Like, I love me some steamy sex scenes, but here, I found myself skimming them. They were too long, too over-the-top (like orgasms shaking mountains over-the-top and velvet-wrapped-steel over-the-top, so...not good 😅😅) and I felt like reading through Thesaurus of expressions connected to pleasure, noises and verbs connected to bodily fluids 💀

Examples (because if I had to read it, so do you, I'm selfless like that):

"She rides my waist and oozes all over my erection."

Please, please, I BEG YOU ALL, never write "oozing" into the sex scene 😭😭 Maybe I'm overreacting and this is actually sexy, but personally? This is what was going through my head as I read:

"Even if that means controlling the brutal drumming in my cock. Even if it means resisting the divine throbbing in her cunt."

I don't know which of these afflictions sounds worse to me: "brutal drumming in one's cock" or "diving throbbing in one's cunt" 😭

"The rest of my hands weld against her, stilling my lady so that she feels each inch as I swipe my cock out...and in...and out...and in."

This "in and out" thing was repeated many times over the course of the story, with weird verbs like "jabbing", "swiping" or "flinging" and let me tell you, maybe I'm lexically-limited, but a man swiping his cock around does. not. sound. good.

Anyway...

On the more positive note, it was nice to get back to this world, and reunite with Lark, Cerulean, Juniper, Puck, Elixir and Cove. I just sadly didn't feel as invested in their stories as when I first met them, because the emotional stakes were somewhat lacking. BUT the ending itself was certainly emotional, and beautifully-written, as usual. When Thorne, sisters' father, calls Puck "son" and invites him, Elixir and Cerulean to their home, I actually cried. It was a deep, touching moment.

“And the dragon said, ‘I shall protect what I don’t yet know, for therein lives my strongest magic.’”

What I also enjoyed was the general theme and conclusion of this series: the power of words, stories. How persuasive a written word can be, and how a great story can unite. In that regard, "Defy the Fae" delivers a strong message, and it's a beautiful one.

So all in all, while this has not been my fave, and I've delivered some criticism, I'm still very much in love with this world, and this series has been an intriguing, emotional journey. I do hope Natalia Jaster revisits Dark Fables world, this time the dragon and elven realms mentioned before.

“What has been written is not where things end. There will always been new Fables to tell, new stories to pen, and new ways to interpret them. It is eternal, like the wild itself.”

ARC received from the author in exchange for an honest review.

To bear arms takes strength and courage. But to defy three warring fronts takes a different sort of power—a true kind of sacrifice.

Once again, Natalia leaves me in awe with her storytelling. This book is a lot spicier than Natalia’s other works (for now, at least). I tend to steer clear of super spicy books. However, Natalia has a way of writing spice that keeps me intrigued still by the story and characters. I might have been able to binge in one sitting if my household had allowed me because Defy the Fae held my attention from beginning to end.

What I love most about Natalia’s writing is that she always keeps me guessing how the story will end. The plot twists are never wholly predictable. But if you’re paying attention to the crumbs that she leaves in each couple’s book, you might be able to predict the series’ ending. And what a beautiful ending it was!!!

If you love fated mates, whimsical storytelling, loads of spice, and lovable complex characters with just the right amount of angst that’ll beat your feelings to a pulp, read. this. series!

"I'm going to fuck you softly, and you're going to make love to me hard."

The finale in the Vicious Faeries series. Cerulean, Puck, and Elixir will do anything to protect their human lovers. Even if that means going against their own. But if they can figure out the second way to saving their lands, they won't have to. That is, if there even is a second way.

Wow. Wow.

Natalia Jaster did an amazing job with this last book. It was bittersweet. It brought out all the right emotions. Happiness, sexiness, nervousness, sadness, anger, but always ends with happiness again. This has action, spice(pure smut honestly), romance, and fantasy.

This is from Cerulean, Puck, and Elixir's perspective which I really enjoyed and appreciated. I didn't know it would feel right but it did, seeing the closure to their stories and the outcome to their world from their eyes. She writes the book in almost three parts. So you experience the first chapters with Cerulean, then Puck, and it ends with Elixir.

If you felt like Cerulean was lacking in spice in Kiss the Fae, well prepare yourself. Natalia definitely fixes that and turns it up. I can't get over their public tower scene. "Now fuck me. And do it with your wings out." Oh. Okay. Lark is still her sassy, sensual self. Their love feels so passionate and intense. I went into this book with Elixir being my absolute favorite, despite loving all three fae. But I think Cerulean truly won me over. I was also distraught with what happens to him. It was hard to read honestly.

Which leads me to my first little gripe. I wish the author didn't make it so strict when it came to whose perspective it was. There is a very sad and emotional part with Cerulean and Puck. Cerulean definitely gets it the roughest but you get to read it from Puck's and Elixir's perspective. I really wanted to see it from Cerulean's eyes and his reuniting with Lark. I felt like that moment was really big in their relationship. I'm really bummed I didn't get to see that.
.
.
"She's so open, so wet, so mine. I'm so buried, so hard, so hers."
.
.
I know I've mentioned not liking the "surprise pregnancy" trope. It's my least favorite. If you read the previous two books, I don't think it's surprise what happens with Puck and Juniper. I actually liked it in this case. I thought the author was going to use it as the second way to saving their world. She didn't. Which made it that much better. I think I would have felt like that was a cop out. But this whole thing made for some really tender moments between Puck and Juniper which I think was cool to see. Puck makes some great jokes in this one.

The ending is all in Elixir's perspective. I was looking forward to his the most and though I really enjoyed it, I was a little let down. I was hoping to see a lot more heat in his part with Cove. It didn't compare to their previous book, Curse the Fae. It was still good but I've seen better between the two. I did enjoy seeing his perspective when it came to the ending because it was more emotional and deep which isn't Elixir.

It also made sense because of who their main enemy was. You really needed to experience that with Elixir. It is also through his eyes that you get to see the fae meet the girls' father. Which was just funny. Puck has a great moment there. The second way ends up being way more simple than even I expected. I didn't mind that though.

The actual ending though had me almost in tears. Natalia really made it feel like, "This it it. There is nothing else. This is goodbye to them." It really tugs at my heart. I really enjoyed this world. I hated saying goodbye. It feels wrong to even try and imagine anything past what she wrote.

But despite the romance and heat, one of my favorite things was seeing how much these boys love each other. The jokes between each other and how defensive they become for one another. Elixir and Puck's worry and love for Cerulean was tear jerking. If you haven't tried this series, I really recommend it. It has all the things. Not many triggers, if any.

Goodbye Cerulean, Puck, and Elixir. I'll definitely miss you.

This series has been a real favourite of mine as I feel like the writer's style really suits a series about the Fae. The prose will be a bit too purple for some. For me, it was really only during the sex scenes that I felt it was so overblown is drew me out of the story. But in general the way the Fae world is built is impressive in its complexity and beauty.

The overarching plot of the book is a good one and engaging. However, the pacing is a bit off. The book is told in three sections, from each of the male fae's pov. This actually worked well, however, what didn't work for me was the amount of sex scenes in each section. It really did feel like at least a third of the book wa setting multiple sex scenes if each pairing, and the level of detail meant that each scene was super long. This was fine, at first, but my the last few I was bored and skimming them.

Yhats my only real criticism, but it's enough to make this 4 stars, not 5, as I loved everything else about it!

Unfortunately this last book of the series did not impress me. Yes there was spice which I normally like but it was overload & became annoying. I feel like 80% of book was sex scenes. Additionally the writing in this one wasn’t impactful and it took me a long time to get through the book, not because it was intellectually hard but did not keep my attention. It was very repetitive and predictable. I loved the first 3 books but this one was a disappointment.

You can find this review of Defy the Fae on my blog, my link text

Received an Advanced Reader’s Copy from the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!

I’ve been a part of this series as a reader from the very beginning and it’s a little bittersweet watching the series end. But at the same time, I’m ecstatic to see what Natalia has up her sleeve next.

Natalia has a certain way with her writing, where her words flow like a poem. She draws connections and makes comparisons between two very separate things that you wouldn’t have thought to imagine in the same sentence. This is something I personally enjoy reading: her use of a very whimsical style to depict her world. The writing also suits the personalities and situations of the character narrating.

ALSO, I want to commend the style with which Natalia designed this book. I thought it was the smartest, most comprehensive way to have written the story. She also wrote three different perspectives and I felt that she’d done true justice to the characters’ voices, matching their personalities to their perceptions and our expectations. Definitely a fantastic feat in my head because I’ve always found that perspective-writing of a male protagonist we’ve seen in another character’s narrative over a series can be very tricky.

The plot runs through the first three books that are narrated primarily by the female protagonists. Those books focus on the specific struggles of those characters and settings, which are then intertwined with the major plot. I thought it was perfect Natalia wrote another whole book to complete the major plot-knot.

One aspect of the book—the most important one—was so interesting to me that I have to mention it. It can seem a little spoiler-y so maybe don’t read this part if you’re not interested in knowing anything (even in its hidden form) and would like to find out on your own.

The book has many elements (hehe) to it and there are some that feels perhaps a little unbelievable at times, but I personally believed them a split second after having that thought because of the nature of the set up. These moments are also all fairly touching and I liked the meaning and emotion behind them. *insert puppy dog eyes emoji*

A five star read for me. KU subscribers the world is your oyster. This is a complete four book series that you can binge in one shot (lucky you). Check trigger warnings before entering as always!

Even though the writing through the series wasn’t done super well, I really did grow to love the characters in it. Lark’s story was my least favorite, but I am wondering if it just because her and Cerulean just weren’t characters I truly connected with. I enjoyed the theme of the story, just not so much Lark. Book number two, was my favorite… Juniper and Puck were characters I liked so much, and their story was one I really got into. Book three was also one I enjoyed. Cove and Elixir were characters I mostly enjoyed, although Elixir could have been a little more vicious, for how much he was built up in the first two books.
All this to say, I enjoyed the books and their premise. This last book provides us with answers, but it was rushed. 70% of the book is sex. Believe me, I LOVE the spicy scenes, but these were redundant and eventually became boring. I would have favored more build up with the politics within the faery and human world, and the civil war brewing as well. The solution was all of two pages, and could have easily been handled with more depth and intrigue.
I read the other three books in 1.5 days each…. This took me 6 days, bc I had to push myself to read it.
I’m glad I read the series through, but also glad I’m done!

I am happy to have finished the Vicious Faeries series following Cerulean and Lark, Puck and Juniper, and Elixir and Cove. I found the last book to be my least favorite, because of some unnecessary plotlines to me, but I am always happy to see what these characters are up to. I almost wish this series had simply been a trilogy for the couples, but I understand why the author wanted to solve what would happen between the humans and fae. I am not a fan of a certain trope used, but I enjoyed the final chapter following that character. Overall this was a super fun and whimsical fantasy romance series that I am glad to have read.

I will be happy to never think of this series again.

Cheers to the weirdest, unenjoyable, wildest series I may ever read in my life. You can read this book pretty fast if you skip every sex scene that’s in this book, I didn’t read a single one. Just plowed through the plot. What was the plot? Couldn’t tell you. What was the conflict? Couldn’t tell you? How did they fix the problem? Couldn’t tell you. How is Elixir describing stuff when he’s blind? Couldn’t tell you.

Somehow juniper and puck were the most enjoyable in this novel.

This was a good conclusion to the series and I really like how it weaved all of the individual stories together. I like how this combined all of the loose threads from the previous books and it was nice saying goodbye to the series with all our main characters back together again. Like with the other books in this series, I do think this probably could have used some editing down and tightening up, but overall it’s a good read.

Natalia does it again with a brilliant ending to the series. I loved seeing the way all 3 couples worked together to save the wild. This series has the perfect level of banter / spice /story, and this book is no different. Plus, who can resist a "meeting the girlfriends dad" moment! Amazing book as expected and well worth the read!

Thank you the author for proving me with an ARC!

I was so excited to read the conclusion of this series that I've loved so much. This fourth installment follows the POVs of the original character's love interests and it was great to see the conclusion of this story from their point of view. As usual, this book was full of Natalia's truly unique writing style that paints such vivid pictures.

If you love enemies to lovers of all types, Labyrinth retellings, and numerous super hot 🌶️🌶️🌶️scenes, I highly recommend this series!

2.5 I wasn't impressed with the ending. I'm glad it ended on a happy note. I don't like sad endings.

The author isn't the best with action or with surprises in my opinion. Also, out of all the books, this one is the only one that had enough emotion in one part that I thought finally I feel connected. Like it seemed she tried to get emotional but she never landed for me except this one part. But then it was ruined by another adult part. I like adult situations but a whole chapter isn't nessarry it doesn't do much for the story. Unless she was meaning for it to mainly be about that? Then she accomplished what she was going for. I'm not sure if I would re-read the series again? I didn't hate it but idk.

"This is a game where no one wins. The difference is how much we forsake, how much slips from our fingers like water."

Soooooo good! If you like your fantasy books with a great story, complex characters, lots of low key angst, enemies to lovers, slow-burn romance and steamy AF scenes then the Vicious Faeries series is for you!

If you haven't read the three previous books in the series, Kiss the Fae, Hunt the Fae and Curse the Fae then stop now, download and read them, because Defy the Fae is NOT a standalone.

Defy the Fae is the fourth and final book in the series by the ethereal Natalia Jaster and this time we are treated to the closing story from the boys' (Cerulean, Puck and Elixir) perspective. Now, given that Natalia Jaster has totally TURNED UP THE SPICE in this final installment, throwing their POV into the mix is just *chef's kiss*.

It's impossible to say much without giving the storyline away, but suffice it to say that the three couples' HEAs are hard won, the romance is sizzling hot and the action is frenetic.

If you've read Natalia before, you'll know that her writing is just beautiful, her world building and character development exquisite. She writes with an almost poetic, descriptive quality, that just sucks you in from the first sentence. And if you haven't read her books before, do yourself a favour and start now with this series.

5 sensational stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Vicious Faeries chapter of the Dark Fables series comes to a close with the fourth book, Defy the Fae. Of course, this book was incredible, Natalia has a whimsical way of telling a story that hypnotizes me.

The story is told from the guys' perspectives, I couldn't tell you how excited I was about this. Not only are all the couples banded together in this but I get a better understanding of the guys' thoughts and feelings. I got a glimpse before but to understand the guys' bonds to each other, as well as, Cerulean's love for Lark, Puck's need for family, and Elixer's need for vengeance it was eye-opening. It reminds me of why I feel for them in the first place, especially Puck, he's still my favorite.

Of course, the girls were present and just as badass as I remembered but it was the togetherness as a group, as a family that I enjoyed. Speaking of family, Thorne (their dad) had his role, I enjoyed seeing the familiar faces of Moth, Cypress, Coral, and more. I love seeing them again and that they're part of the group. A big secret that one of them have comes out and I'm glad, it was time for that wound to heal and I'm pretty sure it does.

Like I said before Natalia's writing is whimsical and detailed. I love the descriptions and names of the locations in Faerie. The story easily leaps off the page and I get engrossed. Where others might have because it's the final book, Nat didn't slack on that.

The plot of this book was wild and complex. Lark, Juniper, and Cove may have won their game but a new one is afoot with three new players, Cerulean, Puck, and Elixer are playing against the Solitary fae and their leader, and the humans of Reverie Hollow. Everything comes to a head towards the last fourth of the book. There was a lot of excitement not to mention

Defy the Fae was a spectacular conclusion to the story. Everything wrapped up nicely, not only were all my questions answered but something that readers knew was finally revealed and integrated into the story. Like many fairytales, there was a HEA but Nat also left readers with the sweetest epilogue. I'm not ready to say goodbye yet and maybe I don't have to. That epilogue has me thinking that maybe another book set in this world with my favorite characters making appearances could be a possibility in the future. I sure hope so.

1st reading: I can't believe I'm about to say this, but there's too much sex in this book.
I enjoy sex scenes as much as the next person, but if you're going to have sex in a novel that's not just glorified "porn-with-plot," then it needs to drive the plot forward or tell us something meaningful about one or more of the characters. While a couple of the sex scenes in this book *do* fulfill these purposes (specifically, the ones between Puck and Juniper), the others are little more than gratuitous (and not in a good way). And BORING. Honestly, the number of times I nodded off or went off to do something else *in the middle of a sex scene* is ridiculous. During one of these scenes I actually missed that they'd climaxed because my eyes had glazed over.
Part of this has to do with the way the author writes her sex scenes. They're overblown and complicated, full of purple prose. While I found her writing style difficult at first and then intriguing in the first book, by the time I reached this fourth book in the series, I was. Over. It. Occasionally there's a shining sentence describing a character's intense feelings of devotion, but one line amongst pages and pages of superfluous prose isn't enough.
Note that this book took me over two weeks to read. Normally a book this length would take me a couple of days (if not less if wholly engrossing). TWO FREAKING WEEKS. I had trouble forcing myself through it.
One other nitpick. While I have no trouble whatsoever with an author adopting a word and giving it a new meaning within their imagined world, it helps if that new meaning can actually be explained to the audience. Since this wasn't done over the course of four books, I can only assume that the author has NO IDEA what the word "league" means when used to refer to distance. It's THREE MILES, Natalia. When someone says "they're a handful of leagues away," do you really mean 15 miles away? When you say the villagers are nearing the border with the Solitary Wild and that they're 100 leagues away, do you really mean they're 300 miles away? SMH
Despite the difficulties in wading through the morass of pointless narrative, the underlying plot was actually quite good. If the author had stuck more closely to this, rather than getting sidetracked by her overblown libido, the book would have been much better.
I'm glad I'm done... so I can move on to something else.

Loved 💖

I laughed and cried equally throughout this book 💖 Natalia always guarantees HEAs but you still get heart attacks along the way... there were some real special moments along the way which yep made me cry 🤣 Puck is still my favorite he just always cracks me up!!

Spoilers ahead

After the sisters all won their games in more ways than one they all chose to stay in Faerie with their luvs but the solitary mountains, woodland and deep are all showing worsening signs of the failed sacrifices as the 13th year grows closer. They're yet to figure out the hidden fable message of the second way in which to save their world without more bloodshed.
When Fauna begin turning on the Triad leaders they discover that one of their own is leading those that have turned on them. Elixir especially knows the foe well and whilst they try to trick him in a game they do not succeed. When the discovery that Juniper is indeed carrying a mini Juniper/puck for the first time they're both stunned into silence for they had been under the belief such a thing couldn't happen but when her body begins struggling to carry the young seedling her brothers and sisters seek out a plant that could save her but the problem lays that it is now enemy territory where it grows. Obtaining the plant was the easy part but with the Triad changing their quest leads them right into the hands of poachers in Reverie Hollow where Puck and Cerulean face a brutal capture.
Getting out will not be their only struggle, the humans seek vengeance for how the fae have wronged them and as the time draws nearer they'll realize that a bloody battle is inevitable but with foe all around them they're severely outnumbered on both sides of the triad and when it all comes to a head history will repeat itself with some unlikely allies the ones to bring unity but the final answer to ensuring the survival of the solitary will lay not in the current fables but in a new one not yet written 💖

Sad to let all these characters go but so glad i was able to read them and love them...

I loooove that this one was from the guys' perspectives. This book def lived up to my expectations. Story focuses on the three couples essentially trying to figure out how to keep the wild from fading. It also centres around *spoiler* ...

Junipers pregnancy. She has a girl...🥰 ah! The big battle between the mortals and fae was pretty intense but i think what made it such a powerful scene for me was essentially what stops the fighting and what i think is the main message behind the story...a young mortal boy and young fae end up protecting each other in the battle and this basically makes everyone stop and take stock of what theyre doing and what is possible. Two kids showing adults that people from different worlds can be friends, family, lovers.
"Nine years ago, three sets of children crossed fated paths. The males came from a world of dark . The females hailed from a place of natural fortitude. Knowing so little about one another, these pairings found a connection, a crawlspace that existed between hate and love. Our feelings had varied, but the links nevertheless formed, steering us from one extreme to its opposite"

They end up writing their stories and thats what saves their wild. I liked the epilogue. Its about juniper and pucks daughter, Glade. She talks about how much her family still suffers from their past trauma and such but basically they're...happy. The ONLY thing i wish was different or something was that im pretty sure lark and cerulean are still the only ones considered mates by the end. Call me cheesy or whatever but i would've liked for the other two couples to have become "official" mates cause...i mean if theyre not then that kind of leaves the story open for them to one day stumble upon their mates and get caught between the one they love and the one theyre "supposed to" there is always the possiblility that the mating bond hasnt clicked into place yet i suppose like in other fated mates stories but i dont recall that rule being in this story. I dont recall the mate mythology in this one too well.

Defy the Fae (Vicious Faeries #4)- Natalia Jaster

The fourth and final (hoping that will change) book in the Vicious Faeries series is awesome providing so many feels I had to read it a second time. The three main male Fae each tell their story form their POV as the overall story advances.
Three leaders of their regions, Cerulean, Puck and Elixer have all played the game with the women Lark, Juniper and Cove and the women not only won the game but also their hearts. There is also history between the characters from 9 years prior that pulls at all the emotional heartstrings.
This series works best starting with book 1, Kiss the Fae, and going in order. the author has wonderfully reworked the first two books giving them a lot more steam and emotion. Changing these up to triple the level of hotness (Adult level )was a great move and served the characters (and readers) so well (thank you Natalia). Adding the spice in just the right places cemented the bonds between the couples.
All three Fae are bad/good characters, have that special naughty leader quality that is magnetic for fantasy/romance/spice loving readers. Cerulean the pretty Fae of Wind and Sky, Puck of the woodlands, the sexy mischievous satyr oozing sex appeal as well as a very naughty tongue (in all ways), and Elixer the broody leader of the deep that has so much more to him than what appears on the outside.
The first three books in the series all intertwine and weave together the overall themes and backgrounds of the story. The fourth book wraps up the different storylines as well as the main overall story with resolutions and of course the hard won HEA.
The book is a fantastic blend of adventure, excitement, suspense, love/romance, fantasy with all the sizzle that served the characters (and readers) so well. This is a amazing series of books that I have already read twice.

This book was structured a little differently than expected. It was split into three parts, with each part fully from one of the fae men's perspectives - Cerulean, Puck, then finally Elixir at the end.

While I didn't have an issue with how the author decided to organize the book, I had a lot of issues with the plot and writing itself. The ending with how they all realized how to save the fae world without human sacrifice was a little kumbaya and contrived and not very satisfying to me. I couldn't remember if the previous books were like this, but the smut scenes were quite over the top and very long with so much purple prose that I started skimming them - I could only take so many metaphors of body parts and sexual acts... Lastly, I didn't believe that the POV writing from Elixir were truly narrated from someone that was blind - too many subtle emotions were described that I couldn't believe that a blind person could detect. While I understood the written Fables were important to the magic and fauna, I was directly told they were rather than recognizing that the writing was significant in some manner through their contents - they ended up being a very confusing aspect of the plot.

The Fae, fauna, and humans certainly had the beginning of a peaceful treaty at the end, and all three couples had their final HEA, but I think the individual books following their romances were a better re-read than this final book.

For the eternal wild

I have religiously followed this series since its introduction and damn this is one hot conclusion. Defy the Fae is a culmination of the Vicious Faeries series where the characters try to salvage the deteriorating fae landscape all the while trying to save their women and protect themselves from humans.

The book is written from the POV of Cerulean, Puck and Elixir. The POV takes off in the same order as the books giving the readers a good dose of story and smut. Oh my... The Smut. Natalia has laid it heavy.

The story has a seamless connection from one character to another with a simplified yet beautiful resolution. All you story and fable lovers, this is your zone. My favourite in the series is Puck and Juniper. Their nerdy yet sexy banter always makes me smile and I enjoyed their chapters the most.

On the flip side, the smut scenes do feel a bit repetitive as we move on from POV to POV and a particular smut scene of my favorite characters left me in bad taste due to its placement in the storyline. Other than a few grammatical errors and some really cheesy lines, this book is a great read. Kudos to the author for writing such a wholesome book on nature and the harmony that is needed with it.
I accord this book 4 stars.

This honest review is written in exchange for an E-ARC from the author.

I spent most of this book bored, I can't lie.

I don't think that I liked the format that it was written in. This book was told from the men's points of view rather than the women. While it was nice to see things from their points of view, I really missed the relationship between the sisters.

One of my favorite things about book 3 was the way they loved each other, talked to each other, and interacted with one another. I was looking forward to seeing more of it in book 4, and instead, it was told from the points of view of Cerulean, Puck, and Elixir. Not only that, but it was broken up into thirds, and each one got a chunk of the book and moved on.

It was hard for me to really connect with any of the guys because their parts were over so soon. There just wasn't enough oomph in this book for me.

I loved the addition of their father. It was really the only part of this book I found enjoyable, and I absolutely teared up at their reunion.

I just don't think this series was for me. I never connected with this world, or really any of the characters in it. While I loved Puck and Cypress and Cove, it kind of ended there. The way everything was broken up into parts really made it hard for me to get into it and really invested the way I wanted to be.

Defy the Fae
Dark Fables: Vicious Faeries #4
Fantasy, NA

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I found the pacing of this book a lot slower than the others in this series.

There's finally different parts with different POVs from Cerulean, Puck and Elixir which I really enjoyed. It was great to see their opinions, how they viewed things and to see them all working together to solve how to save the Fae lands.

I did predict the plot twists but I still enjoyed the lead up and how it all played out.

The world builing has been great throughout this series and I really appreciate how it feels like the same effort was put into each book so none of them lost traction or fell flat compared to the others.

I think the writing style is great, it flows smoothly and there isn't a boring moment. There's definitely more spice in this book and sometimes I skipped the spice scenes as it felt like they were there to fill the book out because it's already shown in the other books how the couples become obsessed with their partners and love them.

This is a great series and I'll definitely be checking out other books by Natalia Jaster.

Disclaimer: My rating on this book is mostly based on the fact that I got to like the characters of this series and that I was intentionally looking for a smutty read. But if I was less prone to letting my emotions influence my ratings than this would probably be a 3 start read for me.

The author’s writing style did annoy me a little bit with this last instalment. And although I appreciated seeing things from the guy’s perspectives, I still kept thinking that I would have loved to hear the girl’s perspectives too for a lot of what went down.

The plot did feel secondary to all the smut going on, but hey I went in expecting it so I’m not in a place to judge.

I did appreciate getting closure around the mystery of the second way they had been searching for and I quite liked the dad bits in this book. The ending was not epic, but it did feel somewhat satisfactory to me since I’m (like the author) a sucker for “power of writing” moments on my fantasy books.

Oh and Puck. Still would marry the guy. He deserves a star all by himself.

Defy the Fae by Natalia Jaster

🌟🌟🌟🌟 and 🌟🌟🌟 🌟 ½

This is the final book in the Vicious Fae series and I’m bouncing between and 4 and 4 ½ stars here. I loved how the story ended and the epilogue was gold for me, but I struggled with a few of the chapters a bit when a certain character was in the POV.

What I loved was that we got the POV of all three of the male characters- Cerulean, Puck and Elixir. It was great to get into their heads, with how they felt about our amazing leading ladies, but also it was nice to see how they thought of each other and their world. I love the message and how the story wrapped up. It answered most of the questions that I had, and that’s always a plus.

I’m honestly a little sad the series is over because I love thes characters so much, especially Puck and Juniper. They are my absolute favourite.

So if you like smutty fae books, with a great fantasy plot check out this series.

What a great series! It was such a fun adventure, and I will definitely be rereading this series! This last book was a fun way to wrap up everyone’s stories! The audiobook is absolutely top-notch! Tim Campbell is one of the best voice actors of this time in my opinion! The spice is well placed and goes really good with the plot. You get to see and live the point of view of the three main male characters. I love seeing everyone’s different point of view, so this was really entertaining and enjoyable for me! This is a do not miss read and a do not miss audiobook as well! I would’ve given this book a four star because it is a little slower than the first three but the series was so good that this just had to be a five star! Enjoy Bookish Friend! I remember if you love a book talk about it!

Quite frankly, I hate calling any one book perfect. My five star reviews are hard earned. But Natalia Jaster keeps hitting the ends of her series out of the park!

It was beautifuly written and full of twists and turns that, even as a long time reader of her's, I couldn't see. The way Puck, Cerulean, and Elixir kept me absolutely captivated was book hangover inducing.

The 🔥 scenes were awesome. I usually bookmark those scenes for a reread and I didn't really need to with this book because each couple was just so passionate. But it never felt like too much. In some books it can feel excessive but not the case.

In short, I absolutely loved it. I love this series and I love this author.
