I'm a Navy SEAL on a mission to find out what's happening in a politically-charged environment. When things go horribly wrong, I find myself saddled with my exact opposite: a female scientist who never runs out of questions or words. Now we're stuck on a deserted island with no way off and information vital to avoiding World War III. Will we make it off the island in time to warn the world what's coming? And will we do it with our hearts still intact?
Ashley:
They sent me to an island to find out why the marine life off the coast was behaving strangely. The only problem? It's a contested land inhabited by terrorists. When I find myself stranded on the island with a Navy SEAL who saved my life, I don't know whether we'll make it off alive. But one thing I do know? I might be falling for the man with the haunting blue eyes. Before we find out whether we have a future together, we have to escape terrorists, get off the island, and save the world.
Department of Defense Series:
Dead Ahead Blue Falcon Joint Service Indirect Attack
This book had a lot of promise and could have been so much better. The first 50% of the book the two main characters refer to each other as woman and man. Despite their situation an exchange of first names is what adults do automatically. These two behaved more like lost children. Triton then reflects on how he treats women like tissue paper. Wrong on so many levels. I loved the premise of the story. This book could have been better written. The author needs a beta reader as the typos were all over the place.
This story has adventure, danger, suspence, action, and a little romance keeps you sitting on the edge of your seat and keeps you turning the pages to see what happens next until the very end. Looking forward to reading more books from this Author
Stopped half way through. This book was going along so great. I was really liking it and I liked the characters. I liked that they were not immediately and constantly monologuing about the others incredible looks in extreme detail. It felt real and normal. And I liked the story telling. But by the time the “romance” (if you can even call it that) starts it felt so jarring. It came out of nowhere and took me way out of the story. It felt so unbelievable and unnatural. It didn’t flow at all and there was no progression to it. It was like the author wanted a sex scene so badly she just tossed it in without building to it in any way. The timing was just weird. They kinda give the excuse that they “just needed it” after all they’d been through but that was a flimsy excuse for something so far out of left field. And it didn’t need to be so abrupt. The way the story is being laid out it would have lent perfectly for them to be able to develop at least some kind of relationship, some kind of build up or progression to the romance part. The progression and timing of romance novels are tricky to get right in my opinion because most books I’ve read struggle with this. But that sex scene really felt so disconnected from the characters and the overall story that it made me want to stop reading. As well as when it occurred. It sort of felt cheesy or corny even because of how different it was from the rest of the story and how abrupt it felt. Like a different author wrote it without reading the rest of the story and then they just stuck it in. Anyways the rest of the story might be okay I mean, the first half was good but I just can’t reconcile the characters from the first half of the book with the characters of the second half after that romance.
Triton is a navy seal sent with a team to check out an island by Russia and Japan. His team comes up on a group of men shooting what looks like a research team. Tri finds in the fire fight Ashley who was in the building. Tri and Ashley are the only two that are left of their teams they get off that island to land on another island. Very good story line. I really enjoyed this book and will read the next one in the series.
I enjoyed the overall storyline and suspense this book had, however it was too quick of a read and too insta-love for my taste. There were also spelling errors and mistakes throughout the book, but I was able to ignore most of them. Do I find myself reading the rest of the series? No. Do I think the epilogue was weird? Yes. Wish it would’ve been about the couple and their future instead of the weird finish.
Life lessons, some are hard and memorable. Tri definitely had those moments, but they came in handy when protecting Ashley. I loved how Ashley surprised him when swimming and with bamboo! Great intensity and hot moments on a deserted island. They really do need to save the world to get to their happily ever after. I enjoyed this read.
Lexy Films has gotten her hero and heroin in a mess so quickly! Tri gets teased over his name for his whole life and does not find it funny! When Ashley finds out what the name of her hero's name and before she can stop it she laughs and then has to apologize! Will this become a happily ever after? You must read to find out!
Great characters, romantic, exciting and dangerous! Lots of stuff going on and bad guys all over the place but there’s some very tender caring moments that makes you want it to all work out ! Love this story and I’m looking forward to seeing what happens with the rest of the brothers 😁something about a HEA, gets me every time 💞
I actually learned factual things from this book that I knew nothing about. Internet cables under the ocean floors.. I never thought about how we communicate except through satellite. And to think how far back this goes.. boggled my brain. LoL I love how detailed this is. Realistically written. I look very forward to the next chapter. Keep up the good work!
This was my first book by these authors and it won’t be my last. Ashley is a marine biologist on a research mission who end up tangled with Triton a Navy Seal. It was a great story and I will definitely be reading more from this duo. Just right amount of heat, action and a solid story with a HEA.
Well written and great characters very enjoyable read. While reading this book I could see a whole new story playing in the background. A lot of things happening, loved the brothers getting involved. Found that I have read some of Lexy Timms other novels and even have some not yet read. Guess I will work on them for a while.
Where normal meets clandestine mission. A marine biologist on a research trip and encounters terrorists and is saved by the navy seal. And they get to know each other on a deserted island .
Excellent story idea. Different characters, different plots, different terrorists groups all add up to a lot of people, action, and edge of your seats thrilling reading. Great writing job, easy read, highly recommended for afternoon reading.
While reading this all I could think about was the movie Speed when Keanu Reeves said “high tense situations never Lead to long term relationships. That’s that whole book….
Also my name is Ashley and they misspelled it a few times. How annoying and distracting.
I liked all of it, it was sad that their colleagues got killed and they were stranded on an island, but I loved the ending where he asked Ashley to marry him. I would recommend this book to my female friends and family.
Truly enjoyable with chaos, bad guys and a Navy Seal arriving in the nick of time! Ashley is no shrinking violet for sure, able to swim like a seal and be a part of saving the world with her own knowledge benefiting their survival....totally cool!
This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the first book in the Department of Defense series. I could not put this book down, and I loved it so much. The characters just came to life, and I was so worried about the characters. There was so much action in this book. I will have to keep reading this series. There were some steamy times in this book. I loved getting to know the characters in this book. The romance was super fast moving, but the action and suspense was what this book was really about.
