I enjoyed this omnibus version of books 1–8. Book 8 was a little confusing for me because of how the second to the last battle was written. I enjoyed being able to read all the way through and being able to follow Stephanie growing up and becoming a young woman. The books are full of action and tempered with downtime that allow you to keep track of what is going on. There is a teaser backstory that I’m sure continues in the next series of Stephanie’s adventures. The omnibus version is 2100 pages though….so be warned!
First, a great world and character building saga with a mesh of The 5th Element, Guardians of the Galaxy, and maybe Mad Max, lol. I almost always enjoy a female lead touched by Anderle, so getting this series was obviously intentional and worth it. That said, he may have overdone Stephanie's magical growth, under-did her personality transition and kept the veteran team a little too immature, but maybe it was in an attempt to be a coming of age story? In any event, that was my only irritation; I obviously kept reading and will move on to finish the series, so it's definitely recommended.
8 BOOKS in a box is fantastic! You have happy ever after and war! A citizen of three worlds who have a common avid enemy with the determination of destruction no matter who is in the way! There is a foe against The Morgan on her own home! There is a hit order for her death! Will Stephanie survive? I don't know! I want the next box but it is $19 almost $20 and I don't have the funds! 😂 Michael Anderson please put it on Amazon or Audible for $.99 or for free!! 😇
I thought I'd try the first book in the series, big mistake I ended up binge-reading the whole box set all eight books one after another I just couldn't put it down. If you love new magic systems nonstop action aliens space battles that are of the charts this is for you. Throw in a kick ass heroine a sentient AI and a team of top-notch protectors to keep the Witch of the Federation safe as they race toward the battle to save three planets from the killer aliens that are coming to annihilate all of them. Highly recommend you really don't want to miss this series, a must read. I'm off to find the rest of the series, enjoy, Baz.
This book Will keep you reading for days lol. It reminds me of a Clive Cussler book. The drama and exaggeration they have. His books are awesome tho lol. As is this. Can't wait to buy next in this series.
Ugh. Did not finish. I've liked Michael's books until now. Liked his sense of humor and interesting battle sequences. But when you pick up a book called "Witch of the Federation," you expect secret missions, cool magic effects, etc.
What you get is teenage angst, a diatribe on bureaucratic corruption, and how much it sucks to be poor in the near future. There's a conspiracy that's hinted to, and the Navy that wants her bad, but it's motives are so nebulous and revealed so slowly, you really don't care.
It's obvious even the author got bored with sending Stephanie to school, and then later work, because he keeps sending people up capture her. When that fails, shift scenes to a battle simulation... or better yet, shift to the war and characters we've never met. Because that's where the readers--and the author wants to go. Hint: no one cares how Ms. Badass was in high school. If her backstory is relevant, you can always show in flashback.
For whatever reason, Mr. Anderle wanted to show how this character develops into an unstoppable killing machine, but Stephanie isn't that interesting, her parents are perfectly loving, and her best friend/inevitable love interest is... Well, every one of his readers, and that's unnerving. Elizabeth would be cool if she didn't have the share time with the other mildly cool military contractors. The aliens are... Meh.
So don't make the mistake I did and buy both boxed sets in hope of a long enjoyable read. I got to book three and kept coming up with reasons to justifying continuing to read it. Mr. Anderle, you should have just started with book four.
I read the box with all 8 books in a couple of days and liked the fast paced action. But i simultaneously disliked how fast the story progressed. I might have given a higher rating but I was really disturbed by all the giggling in the book, there was almost not a single character that not giggled. I think "giggled" might be one of the most common words in this book and after seeing it like hundreds of times it gets quite anoying. When every character, even those who are supposed to be hard core military veterans and high politicians are either giggling or snickering .. it just seems silly.
I'm reading this whole series again. The characters grow nicely and plots develop. It starts with a Federation of 3 major planets plus various colonies. The human Earth has major problems, social, political and environmental. The main character gets unexpected help from the main planetary ai. That triggers a growth pattern of both girl and the ai. Add in various enemies and there is a lot going on.
What an outstanding book. The author should be quite proud of this. It screams for more. Personally, I want a pair of those cats. A small shuttle would not be a bad idea either as I am starting to hate driving. Overall very nicely done. Good plot, good character strength and vivid locations. Please send me some of those cats!
Michael Anderson adapted his sword of words into another gang buster series that made another woman an epic character. His sarcasm and wit helped Stephanie be a beautiful and endearing person you couldn't help but root for. And terrific sidekicks that added to the comedy yet also were totally human. Good job
Liked the action family values just need a little more romance, characters are very well described 👌 as well as the specific scenarios of each place in the story. All in all a good read
Pleasant easy read. Consider this a alternate history rewrite of the Kurtherian series. Noted that a previous set Witch of the Federation - Federal Histories (3 books) was another collection of this boxed set.
So well throughout and interesting in its flow and form. Life within the three federation allies is complex but handled in a very informative way. I can only hope that the next series completes a very interesting storyline.
Use of the sh__ word was too much. Men are bastards not bitches. Language used is from the gutters and so are too many thoughts. The concept was very good however but could have been better.
This is a great series with a lot of action. Not over complicated, nor are the books overly long this box set is a great starter for those who are avid readers like myself.
This is perhaps my 5th time reading through this series and it continues to amaze me by just how much I continue to love it! Simply incredible storytelling, world building and writing.
Great character development. Lots of magic- and action but also normal human concerns. Will be getting the next series as soon as this review is posted.
Another great series by Michael Anderle. A must read if you like reading about the future and what it could hold for us if we don't take care of our planet.
Just rereading a favorite series again, love the author and I highly recommend him if you are looking for a entertaining read that will keep you up late
This whole set of books read like a sequence of incredibly well done movies. I felt like I was right there, observing and feeling all of the emotion, action, drama and joy. Michael Anderle is a superb writer, but having read only half of the series, I feel confident that this may be his best work of all his numerous books. I am loving every minute of reading these books and cannot wait to get into the next half of this amazing, compelling story. If you enjoy reading, you will fall in love with Stephanie, as you follow her progression in life. Incredible! Unbelievable! Magical!
Well here we have yet another high octain, full on adventure with sassy and lovable heroes (and big cats) on a....so far....heart pounding, a few laughs, and so much more!! Time to go see about the next box set (HINT hint MA!!!).
