Asher Gideon finds himself in a fight for his freedom. His only way to get clear is to work with the one woman he wants to possess. Will their passion get in the way or will it be the key for Asher to gain his freedom and the woman he loves?
That's just my own preference. Some of the BDSM stuff was triggering for me. That is why I just did not feel the connection between Asher and Carla. their story seemed just to be about sex with no depth. The mystery in who killed Antonia was well done but after Asher was released after being accused to have murdered Antonia, I struggled to finish the story. I personally found the other brother's stories to be more interesting.
I wish the author would have explained to us the meaning behind mianich and Oishin. What language do they come from? If one likes reading BDSM this story is for you. I also wish that the author would have reminded the reader who the different characters were and how they are related to each other. There were a slew of characters in this book and I found myself trying hard to remember who each one was and who they belonged to. I've read all of the books and I found this a little difficult.
The only part I really liked was when Asher put a Karen in her place for disrespecting Carla. I still love the brother's relationships with each other and their wives. They are indeed sisters. Now Carla has a whole set of sisters she never had before.
NOTE: My favorite book excerpt “Oh sweetie, you can go and check on the other tables. Your boss and I have some things to discuss,” not bothering to even spare me a glance. “This—” I begin but a look from Asher stops me. “Karen, was it?” “Um no it’s—” “Karen, there are only a couple of things I can’t and won’t tolerate—one is disrespect, and the second is desperation and you have managed both in two sentences. So let me answer your question in the most disrespectful way possible, I wouldn’t let you suck my d*ck clean after I finished making love to Carla. The joys you’d share with me tonight or any other night is getting the f*ck out of my restaurant, and don’t come back. You’re not welcome here. F*ck outta here! and take your minis with you.”
Nell, J. . Asher: The Gideon Brothers (pp. 152-153). Kindle Edition.
Somewhere in the beginning of the story, Carla the FMC describes her work background.
Why I'm even mentioning this is what she said made me instantly disconnect from the character. She said she worked to defend a rich child molester who impregnated his teenage babysitter, so he "hurt" her to cover himself and keep anyone from finding out.
Carla complained more about the work hours dedicated to getting this man freed than ever mentioning she felt bad for essentially helping a terrible person.
Just disgusting. Add to it, she would deliberately dress scantily in front of Asher and his family, and then act shy when they were alone?? One minute she's saying she know she looks great and is proud of her body, and literally the next.. she's hiding and embarrassed by the same body she's been showcasing in see through clothing? That makes no sense. The whole shy and embarrassed part didn't work well for this character, who bravely wore see through shirts and bras that displayed her nipple rings.
Nope. Not believing it.
Also, she decided she wanted a baby just on a whim, and then became fanatical about it. He had to make her see a specialist, which was odd considering how smart and resourceful she was about everything else.
Asher.. Carla had to bring in a team to help him resolve his case, even after court. He didn't seem very capable of reviewing his employees, hiring a PI, and so on. He also went from lusting after Carla to immediately thinking of her as his wife after sex.
No real relationship build up as most of their time together had been spent working on his case.
There's a lot of inner dialogue and I had to skip through multiple pages, just to find a conversation.
What saved this book for me.. was Skai. Skai's part was hilarious and there was very little comedic instances in the story, but Skai took care of that.
Also.. what do Carla and Asher look like? Specific features? Baby Malachai? Skai? More description was provided for the twins Eliza and Emerson, than the main characters and that's a big problem. You can't connect with someone you can't envisualize. Setting, scenery, characterizations are critical.
I encourage others to read the book. The architectural mentions were interesting. The drawn out climatic plot.. just felt like a let down. Most of the people that wronged them, they actually helped out, so no retribution or action.
Asher and Carla are a super hot sexy match. From the moment they laid eyes on each other it was inevitable they couldn't keep away for long😊.
I love all the Gideon men and Asher is def up there next to Jag on my list. This man is one freaky, nasty man😈😈😈 that I wouldn’t mid submitting too😜. His BDE is on full display getting the attention of one sexy, confident attorney, but first he needs to clear his name😬. I love Carla’s personality and the way she carries herself professionally is “BOSS" and her brattiness towards Asher is always a sure sign of spicy kinkiness🥵😈🥵. Love unfolded for them easily but they had roadblocks in the same area of life they needed to overcome😰. I get why they wanted to do things themselves and I’m glad they realized family support was important and I loved how everyone in the Gideon clan rallied around them🥰🥰🥰. The two E’s locating the culprit that had falsely jailed Asher was not who I expected😳. It’s sad that he took that route causing more harm to a child that didn’t deserve it. As always it was great to see all the family make their appearance in the book😘.
This couple was super hot and their sex scene will want you wanting a man like Asher🥵. Oh and I can’t forget about the club he built, Hedonism 2. Like, how can I get a membership to that place😜. I’ve enjoyed all the books in this series and I'm ready for the next one and whichever brother it is I know Ms J. Nell will bring it! Highly recommend this book.
I have been in love with The Gideon Brothers series since I read Jag (Joshua & Savannah). Every book J. Nell has put out has been amazing and fantastic in it's own right. But this book....this book took me on a journey I was not prepared for but would gladly take again. From the very beginning you learn that Asher is not nor will he ever be a pushover. His personality is strong, confident, fierce and demands respect. Everything an Alpha should be. But when he meets Carla he realizes his world is about to change. Carla is strong, loyal, a fighter, an advocate and just as demanding of respect. There's immediate fire and chemistry between Asher and Carla. Asher realizes somthing very special about Carla. But circumstances prevented him from exploring it. For a time. No spoilers! But let. Me. Tell. You. This book was fire!! 🔥🔥🔥The passion, pain, sexiness, sensuality, the trust they build between them I found to be so beautiful and raw. Asher and Carla's love journey was not all together without it's hiccups. But once they weathered that tsunami.... There was nothing but rainbows and Ribbons In The Sky for their love. If you've read any of the books from this series then you know J. Nell doesn't half step with her books. And trust me she didn't with this book either. Hence why I gave her ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. I highly recommend this book. You will not be disappointed.
This was a action, love, sexy book and I knew J. Nell would not disappoint me with this story. Jag is still my favorite but Asher comes in next 🥰🥰🥰…I will say this again I love the family dynamics of this series, this family does not play about about each other and I love it!
Asher Gideon my gawd 🤤🙌🏾🤤, I definitely see why Carla was like ‘yes sir’ because I would have been the same way. The way that Asher made Carla feel loved, protected and free I was all for that and more. I loved them together because they had each other’s back till the end. That engagement and wedding I was like 😩😩😩. Ma’am these sex scenes just keep getting better and better and Asher’s wing is my favorite for sure!
J. Nell this twists and turns that you give us in these books have you at the edge of your seat. I though the killer was someone else but then when you find out who it was I was like 👀👀👀!
I want to visit that club, they compound, resturant’s and all 🤣🤣🤣. I need to find me a Gideon in real life because all these men are amazing. J. Nell don’t take to long to give us the next book 🤣. Download today you will not be disappointed AT ALLLLL!
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ POV: Multi Ending: HEA Relationship Dynamic: MF Recommendation: Yes
MMC: Asher FMC: Carla
Asher finds himself in a bit of trouble when a body is discovered in his club. He is the last person to be with the deceased and now has become the main suspect. His main lawyer is not able to help so he sends in reinforcements by the name of Carla. She is a bulldog of a lawyer. She and Asher cannot deny their attraction to each other but due to their current work relationship they choose not to further any feelings until their work relationship ends. This book is full of suspense, excitement, drama, and smut. The smut is top tier, I’m talking 🌶️🥵🍆🔥🔥🔥. Where is my Asher? The ending is what made me write this review. I 😭😭😭😭 like a baby, it was so sweet!
Carla has infertility issues(PCOS) that are discussed in this book so if that is a trigger for you proceed with caution!!!!
Asher is "The Man" and Carla is "The Woman" who brought him to his knees. Carla becomes Asher's attorney and handles things like a female version of Johnny Cochran. My tears did fall when Asher told the family how he felt. I love how Carla tested Asher every chance she got knowing she was poking the bear. The sparks fly but business comes first. When business is handled, the full effect of claiming begins. The chemistry between these two is off the charts. The family coming together at all times is what makes them the ultimate family. Skai is just like her mom..one of my favorite scenes. Never expected the culprit at the end. I also want to move in their domain. JNell KNOWS she can write them scenes we want to try but 100% won't lol. The wedding was AWESOME!! So looking forward to the next Gideon Brother.
This book was so good, these Gideon brothers are so intense and Asher is no exception. Adversity brought him and Carla together, the sparks flew as soon as they met. Their sex life is off the chain so hot "whew"!!! All the other brothers, wives, children and family make an appearance and are intricate to the plot. Looking forward to the next book. P.S. I so want a 3 story closet !
I really enjoyed this story, and the characters were very entertaining and believable. I loved the chemistry between Asher and Carla their relationship was smoking hot and intense. Their journey was one of drama and intrigue with lots of romance on the side. Chemistry Ms J. Nell is an awesome writer. This series is wonderful, and I have even gotten my daughter reading this series. I highly recommend this series you will not be disappointed.
Author J Nell I know nothing about BDSM so I try to stay away from those books but I loved every page of this. You know I love the Gideon Brothers (especially JAG). This book compelled me to read it and LOVE this story. I love Joseph but was not a fan if Joyce but....I really liked and connected with Asher and Carla. I loved it. Congratulations

I am a fan of The Gideon Brothers but, I am disappointed not in the story but, in the very poor editing. The sentence structure and grammar errors are very noticeable. I feel like the author did a rush job on this book. Not caring about fans or their money. Four stars is a gift.
Short but amazing, my first Gideon brothers book and now I need to go back to book one. Love the interaction between Asher and Carla, even the BDSM was dirty but sexy, the story regarding PCOS was a added bonus showing the struggle that some women face regarding wanting a baby..
This was a good read but not as good or exciting as the books before this one. One thing that bugged me was when she said about her first case. Was the babysitter an underage teenager or and 18,19 teenage. Both are bad but why defend a pedophile if that was the case. Over all it was a good read tho.💘💘
I love these brothers and the women that they make their family. Asher was a caring guy, it was good that after he was cleared of murder that he continued the investigation into Antonia's death.
I read into Carla from jump. And I think I may have skipped some. I think also this stems from me rushing to read through it so I can get to Jasiel. I will read it again I finish the last book!
I am loving these books so much! Every book has me laughing and smiling hard. I love how the women match the crazy of their men. The romance is romancing. I’m happy I found this series.
Asher and Carla took me on the ride of my life. Loved the chemistry they had because like his brothers, he knew Carla was his future. I’m glad they got their HEA!
The only way to describe this one is fast paced and yummy! There was conflict, but not a lot of hand to hand combat. However the struggle was just enough... 😏
I love this series. Can't wait for hopefully the next book in the series! Great writing J. Nell. The storyline was interesting b and kept you enthralled.
Wow just wow I have just discovered this author and hope i get to enjoy the rest of this series I'm on pens and needles waiting I can't read them fast enough
Why should you read this book?🤔 👇🏻 👻My Recommendation 👉🏻 “awesome ” 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 •
👍🏻The best part about reading this book was that I had already read the first 4 books in the series so I was really looking forward to it! But no worries if you haven't read the other books, I feel it can pretty much be read as a standalone too!
👍🏻I liked the Author's style of writing, it was engaging and I didn't drift away from the book, the storyline was really good!
👍🏻The story has a suspense vibe from the start, and I could definitely see myself trying to work out the story which is what I really liked about the book, I didn't get lost or distracted and it very well took me to the end.
I am really looking forward to more in the series❣️
👍🏻My recommendation: If you are looking for a hot romantic suspense, you should definitely give this book a chance!🖤
