Where Love Leads

Rate this book
Sometimes love leads where you least expect it.

When socialite Melanie Sotheby finds herself abandoned on the wrong side of Los Angeles, she has few options. With no phone, credit cards, or identification, the means to get back home to New York seem slim. Not until she is rescued by a tall, dark stranger in the middle of the night does Melanie think of a plan.

With a felony on her record, Milo’s life seems hopeless. She works a dead-end job, lives in a rundown apartment, and has no clear prospects on how to make things better. When she hears a woman screaming for help in the night, a series of events unfold that might give Milo an opportunity to start over. All she has to do is drive Melanie across the country.

What sounds like an easy prospect turns out to have more twists and turns than either Melanie or Milo could have imagined. Only one thing is certain, by the end of the journey, both women will be changed forever.

“Where Love Leads” is a sweet sapphic love story that follows the physical and emotional journey of two women as they drive from Los Angeles to New York City.

I love KC Luck writing. And this book is also a great reading experience. She told a very entertaing story with Where love leads. It‘s a slow burn romance with an age-gap and poor-rich-girl theme in it. Two very lovely MCs who learn to open up to one another about their life experiences during a car ride from L. A. to NY.
5 ⭐️ and I highly recommend this book.

I was hoping for a super fun road trip story, but what I got was hostile MCs, cheating and lots of complaining and manipulating.

I also get how this book can come across differently to other people, this is just how I feel about it. The “dark moment” also came very late and was quickly resolved, but I just didn’t care about any of it. The only part of the book I cared about was the family connection and that was only ever fleeting…

This was my first book by this author although I didn’t like the story or the MCs I did appreciate the writing style and I’ll be trying another book by KC Luck. Wish me luck ;)

A unique and interesting story, about a Billionaire's wife (Melanie) who ends up abandoned in LA, and in desperate need. Enter Milo, ex-felon, trying to scrape by in life, but finding out no good deed goes unpunished.

The two women are stark opposites, and yet may have more in common than you think. Melanie could be snobbish and unseeing from her privileged perspective. While Milo was harsh and judgmental herself of the stunning socialite. Both find an attraction to one another, and a desire to help. There were a few slight plot-holes I found. But it's definitely a plot you just need to not think too much about, and enjoy the ride.

I did enjoy going along with them, but there was some gaps and lack of depth I would have preferred to have been filled with more detail, and growth for both characters. I would have liked both women to truly come into their own, and feel more of the connection between them. There was just some bits missing for me, that means I can't quite give it a 4, despite it being enjoyable.

I would recommend it to other readers who like those road-trip, forced proximity, rich girl/poor girl tropes.

love a good road-trip

4.5 Stars

I really enjoyed this opposites attract romance. Milo was a great character. I’m pretty sure Melanie was supposed to be 52 but in my mind she acted more like 32. The age gap between the two characters is never mentioned, and it didn’t read like an age gap romance at all in my opinion. All that being said, this was a great story and a very fun read. I love a good road trip and enjoyed the two MCs getting to know each other and their growing attraction. If you have Kindle unlimited and the premise sounds interesting to you, I definitely recommend reading this book.

This is one of those books that you consciously try to slow down your reading time because you want the story to last longer. Well written, believable interactions between MCs. Of course it is beyond the limited 5 star rating.

This starts out very much like a comedy, but the longer those two, Melanie and Milo travel together and fight the chemistry between them, the more earnest the story becomes. For both the road trip is going to change their lives as they try to find the courage to fight for their future together.

The dialogues in the first third had me laughing quite a lot, then their emotional struggles touched me deeply and in the end I was ready to hope for someone murdering Melanie's husband, but the actual resolution was even better than that? but I am not going to spoil things here :)

In all reading this is well worth the experience.

Melanie, the wife of a billionaire finds herself in a bad part of LA, without her phone, ID, phone or credit cards. She's being attacked by 2 hoodlums, when Elizabeth Milo comes and saves her. Melanie needs to get back to NY, and after awhile Milo agrees. This is a beautiful slow burn/age gap/ opposites attract road trip love story. I highly recommend it and it's better than 5 stars!

I have to be honest, it's taken me a bit to even write this review. Because I just don't want to. I know, awesome start.

It's always tough when you don't like a main character. I know Melanie had to become something that fit into the world she wanted to be a part of, and I do commend her for surviving...to a certain extent. She was still a bitch, regardless of how/why she got there. And she demeaned herself to survive, let herself be a plaything, a trophy wife, a bragging right, rather than an actual human being. She lost respect for herself for what, money? Security? I know she didn't have parents who taught her any real values, let alone self-esteem, but still. Again, how many excuses do you make for who she is? Still a bitch.

I liked Milo, would have liked to get to know her more, as someone other than the woman falling in love. I feel like I got an incomplete picture of her.

But also, and this is just raw honesty, I was really triggered by the book for one particular reason. And that created a bias against the whole story, I realize that. So Milo set a budget for their journey, as she only had so much in savings, and she needed that money to survive while she looked for more work or whatever. She didn't want to depend on Melanie's promised payment, which was smart, and plus, she had other plans for her savings. Now, no number is given as to what she has saved, just that there is a budget. And Melanie is over here wanting to stay in fancy places that cost $520 per night, and she wants the nicest clothes she possibly find in such 'squalid conditions', and she needs a nice suitcase.... I got pissed. This uppity, spoiled brat is a little too eager to forget that not everyone is married to a billionaire! If Milo goes broke, you are screwed, dumbass! She has no idea the worry over money, the utter panic that can come from thinking you might have over-withdrawn your bank account, AGAIN, or the anxiety that comes from wondering if you can eat much this week. But she NEEDS nice accommodations and NEEDS expensive makeup and she NEEDS to be left on the side of the road! Milo only even got mad at her once, right before they left, when Melanie kept acting like all of this was no big deal. But even once they got going, with the detours and the fancy place to stay and everything, she never exploded again, or even raised her voice or scolded Melanie. Which she really f*cking deserved. Okay, so I'm triggered, because life is tough for some people, and I would have left her ass at that fancy lodging she picked out, by HERSELF and with NO money to pay for a room. And then I would've driven to somewhere affordable, gotten some sleep, and come back for her in the morning. And that would've been the nicest option.

So it's hard to enjoy a book when you're so angry at an MC and want them to fall into the Grand Canyon. I got about halfway through this and ended up just counting pages until I could be done. There wasn't even anything satisfying about the ending that made it worthwhile.

When wealthy socialite Melanie is left stranded and penniless thousands of miles from home, the tough, grouchy Milo is the last kind of person she’d imagine coming to her rescue. But when the seeming short term emergency expands into their taking a cross-country road trip together, the two women grow surprisingly close, but it’s hard to know if their connection can survive away from colorful roadside attractions and their classic Cadillac convertible.

Where Love Leads is a beautiful, funny, and tender sapphic romance with two very different but equally compelling main characters. Melanie is entitled and petulant at the start, but Milo’s kindness and the act of slowly unpacking her own complicated past helps her uncover her true warmth and strength. Milo begins the story as a kind of blue-collar hermit, with little interest in human connection, but her desire for seclusion is frequently thwarted by her natural compassion and integrity. Her emotional walls are no match for Melanie’s vibrant personality and slowly unfolding vulnerability. The emotional and physical attraction between them builds and ignites with both laughter and sigh-inducing moments. Watching the two characters challenge and inspire growth in one another in the midst of this attraction is entertaining and heartwarming.

Lovers of sapphic romances that intertwine deep emotions with humorous situations will love Where Love Leads and will probably wish they could ride along with Melanie and Milo for another thousand miles.

Not Your Usual Formulaic Story

KC Luck delivered an exceptional, emotionally charged story of socialite, Melanie Sotheby, and blue collar Los Angeles worker, Elizabeth Milo (aka Milo). Melanie and Milo meet under very unusual circumstances, when Milo rescues Melanie from being attacked in LA following being abandoned by her husband on their way to LAX. Without a phone, cash, credit card, or clothes, the story that follows details Melanie’s adjustment to a vastly different lifestyle in Milo’s six hundred square foot rundown apartment in LA. Melanie’s husband won’t help her return to New York.

Eventually Melanie offers Milo a large sum of money to drive her to New York. A cross county trip from LA to New York ensues and becomes a fantastic travel log of incredible moments between the two women. They even stop in Texas near where Melanie grew up and she reconnects with her sister. With a husband involved, luckily this is a HEA story for Melanie and Milo. 4.5 stars

Ever thought you and the home coming prom had a chance for love.

Milo heard the screams of woman who did not belong in her poor neighborhood and just. Had to help her and it did not stop there with her continually helping her.she didn't belong here and had to get back to New York and the awful husband who left there with no phone, money,or i.d., and she was rich. He always treated he could care less and with all his lady friends! Milo understood her pain and always treated her her special. She listened to her and was moved to change her rules for her.
When it all came down to her returning to the man she never ever loved with all his money or Milo, and her selfless love, she wanted to be happy finally in her life.

Exciting, Refreshing and Leading Right To Love!

KC Luck and her storytelling just keeps getting better. This is a story of two women who are from different lifestyles who paths cross. A couple of unfortunate incidents happen and both find that they need to help each other. One needs to get to New York and the other needs the money the rich women is offering to get her to New York. The adventure that takes place has each revealing things about themselves. Both were broken and desperately needed repairing. Will this trip lead them to where they need to go? A Must Read!

Melanie is married to a billionaire whe treats her like a possession. When he abandons her the wrong side of town in LA she finds trouble. Her screams for her are heard by Milo, a minimum wage folklife driver who rescued her from two thugs. Melanie hires Milo to drive her back to New York. The road trip for two opposites is a journey of discovery and adventure. Wonderful sapphic romance.

Another great adventure

KC Luck has the ability to make the reader feel like they are right beside her characters, taking part in their adventures. Milo and Melanie couldn’t be more different on the surface, but once they started their cross country adventure every thing started to change.
Get comfortable as you travel across the country and sit in the back seat and see first hand how two lives begin to change.

look back with a different perspective …

Beautifully written story of Milo and Melanie’s journey to a loving, trusting, healthy relationship. Their meeting was serendipitous yet violent. Their trek to New York from LA was rife with indecision, new discoveries, revisiting old haunts, and the realization and acceptance of each other’s love. A very good read. I enthusiastically and unequivocally recommend this and any other works by KC Luck. Thank you Peace

Good stuff

Wealthy socialite's nasty billionaire husband ditches her in a bad part of LA; she's rescued by a grumpy, poor, but kind felon. After some further adventures on the lousy end of the City of Angels, they borrrow a lovely antique car and begin a cross-country trip, which takes them - figuratively and literally - to places neither of them had ever imagined they'd go to.

Good writing, very likeable characters, and engaging plot. Good stuff!

what a lovely story

Definitely an enemies to lovers trip across the country. For two people from absolutely opposite sides of life to find one another and then fall in love, this book was a delight. I loved their experience at The Grand Canyon. I had a similar one when I first visited it. Captured the awe and beauty so well.

Milo and Melanie meet it the worst way possible. Maybe because Melanie was about to get raped if Milo hadn’t stepped in. Their story begins in one of the scariest moments in a person’s life and things just grew from there. The road trip was amazing and running into Melanie’s sister was fantastic. Amazing book.

Adorable!!

This story was fun to read. There are so many obstacles and distractions for Milo who is trying to get Sotheby's back to NY.

And, all the while, Sotheby is forced to deal with her own past, as they both fall deeper for each other. Loved it!

Very entertaining road trip between two unlikely "travel" mates :D Towards the beginning of this book I was quite ready to throw Melanie out some window, but as the story developed, the woman grew on me. Like I said, entertaining.

Imagine being abandoned on the wrong side of Los Angeles in the middle of the night, far from your home with no phone, cash, credit cards, or even ID.

That’s what happens to Melanie Sotheby, wife to billionaire Monty Sotheby when he leaves Melanie on the side of the road and heads back to New York without her. Melanie finds herself in deep trouble until she is rescued by a tall, dark stranger. Elizabeth Milo ends up saving a woman near her apartment only to be reminded of the old saying, ‘no good deed goes unpunished’. Saddled with a felony conviction and in a dead end job, Milo is not the type of person Melanie normally hangs around. Now the two are thrown together, and Melanie comes up with a plan that might help them both.

Where Love Leads by K.C. Luck is an absolutely superb age-gap, opposites-attract love story with more than a touch of adventure and a fair amount of angst to create even more conflict. This is definitely a character-driven story since the two mains practically jump out of the book and sit beside you to tell you their tale. The author does an excellent job with the narrative and descriptions. The reader can almost feel the blisters forming as Melanie is forced to walk the dark streets in her high heels and evening dress. The descriptions of the road trip the two take in the classic Buick convertible are equally realistic.

I must be honest and say I didn’t see any connection between Melanie and Milo at first. They are just so different in their lives and experiences, but of course, that is the essence of a true opposites-attract tale. The author did an outstanding job of bringing these two together and setting up the slow spark that builds into true chemistry.

Where Love Leads by K.C. Luck is an exceptional novel that will appeal to all lovers of romance. It has my highest recommendation.

I received an ARC for an honest review.
