It’s one thing to get attitude from my teenagers, but when my newest ghost in distress is an in-my-face, snarky teenage boy, I have to lay down the law.
When an unidentified fourteen-year-old boy takes a dive off an interstate overpass, to solve the case, Atlanta area detective Aaron Banner calls me to get the truth about his junior John Doe.
Was it suicide or murder?
The problem is, the spirit can't remember who he was, or the night he died, and prefers I focus on an unknown energy instead.
Only I’m getting mixed signals from that one.
The teenage boy spirit takes me to Atlanta, where my ghost of a mother discovers rap, my best friend yields a gun, and we’re face-to-face with a gang of saggy-pantsed hoodlums ready to take us out.
If we don’t figure out that unknown energy quick, something bad is going to happen. I can feel it in my bones.

In 2021, she introduced readers to detective Rachel Ryder in Damaging Secrets, also a number one bestseller on Amazon. Overkill, the third book in the Rachel Ryder series, was one of Thrillerfix’s best thrillers of 2021.Reviews have praised her work as ‘compelling, and intense,’ and ‘read through the night, edge of your seat thrillers. The Angela Panther Series...what can I say. For those of you who don’t know me, I’m somewhat frugal. My husband would disagree, but since when is a husband happy about his wife’s spending habits? I read the first two books of this series and went to Amazon and bought them for a friend. How’s that for a recommendation? Uncharted Territory is the third book in this marvelous series and is every bit as witty and wonderful as the first two. I was thoroughly entertained by the dialogue and characters. Carolyn Ridder Aspenson is a gifted author and I hope this series continues for a very long time. I’m now a fan! Angela Panther is a lacrosse mom (aka soccer mom) with two children and a sexy, simply loveable and wonderful husband (yes, I’m so envious! LOL). She has a teenage daughter Emily who has given her fits with her angst and issues (I’m so not envious, been there done that.). She also has a son around age 10 who’s wonderful, loving and respectful, plays too many video games (pretty realistic, huh?). Oh yeah, Angela can see and hear dead people! Angela could do this for awhile as a child, but the ‘gift’ faded for most of her life and she forgot about it. Then her mother passed and suddenly there it was again. Hopefully, you’ll also read the short synopsis of the first two books, probably before or after this. Suffice it for now to say she’s struggling with this ‘gift’ changing her normal life to something...well...abnormal. Yeah, it seriously would! In this book, Angela works with Detective Aaron Banner to help solve crimes and deaths. In the previous book, Unbreakable Bonds he witnessed her gift firsthand and asked her to help him, unofficially and unpaid. Her best friend Mel, recently divorced, is one of the main secondary characters in the books and the relationship is absolutely entertaining and serious fun! Mel is witty, wild, hurting and horny. The two together with her dead mother, vastly surpass the wit and humor of other well-known detective-mystery type series characters (aka – Stephanie Plum), at least in my humble opinion. The team tackles the cases of a young ‘thug’ who died from the fall off a bridge. Did he jump, was it murder? He doesn’t remember... Another case is the girl in the white gown, who disappears before getting to give her much information, is she actually dead? This and much more make this book a completely entertaining and wonderful read. Grab a great drink, snacks! Jump onboard the Angela Panther train...ride along and watch her develop this marvelous talent. Don’t forget the tissues, there tears both happy and sad, but totally awesome coming! The laughter continues in this book! In fact be prepared to break out in giggles at various points of the book! The characters are so well developed that you wish you could actually meet them and hang out. Their friendship enhances the well woven plot and brings you hours of entertainment. This also leads to lack of sleep as you won't want to put the book down. Add in ghosts with attitudes and you'll almost have an idea what a "day in the life" for these characters is like. In this book Angela is trying to help the detective figure out who a dead teen is when he comes at her with attitude and tells her that she needs to be helping a young girl instead, but it turns out Angela's gift is evolving and the race is on to help the girl before she actually becomes a ghost. I seriously can't put these books down!
I'm liking the books quite a bit. Just wished it stuck to the more important parts of the book. Meaning we could use less of the coffee meetings, less or the inner monologue and plain stick to who she is helping. Why do I really need to know about Mel's toy???? I know the Author tries to make things funny but come on.
Now what I mean out of order the last book I read Mel was already dating Aaron. In this one she isn't and they just set up a date. It gets confusing.
I really liked this one. It was a fantastic mixture of humor, crime and a friendship that is going to make it through thick and thin. I try to save my five-stars for books that have challenged me or changed my thinking a little bit, but otherwise this would have merited a top rating. It’s the perfect book to take on vacation when you want a story that’s intriguing without killing you if you need to put it down for a little bit.
Angela is practical, stubborn and has a mother who is lovingly over-involved at times. The description of the afterlife is pleasantly comforting. I liked Aspenson tendency to be flippant about what happens after death. It is a great reminder not to take things to seriously and to make time for the things that really matter in life…without getting too mushy.
Warning: Contains some violence
Who should read it? Folks looking for a fun mystery with a paranormal, and funny, twist.
Please note: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review courtesy of Sage’s Blog Tours.
Grab your latte, your box of kleenx, and a change of panties. Carolyn Ridder Aspenson has done it again. She has delivered another 5 Star book in An Angela Panther Novel series.
Working with the police means physic medium Angela Panther is dealing with some serious, not so glamorous cases. This isn’t just passing on a message to a loved one from a ghost, this is unsolved murders and missing children. Hence, you will be needing the klneex.
On the lighter side, Mel’s divorce is almost finalized. Her new best friend “Vinnie” is there to take the edge off, but Mel needs a man and she has her eye on Detective Aaron. When Mel and Angela get together let the hilarity ensue. Add Angela’s ghost mom, Fran, and there is no stopping these ladies. From lattes at Starbucks, to breaking and entering, nothing is off limits to these gals. The Naked British Guy makes a brief appearance too. I love him! You might just pee in your pants from laughing so hard!
Lastly grab that latte cause you are going to be awhile. Once you pick this one up, you won’t be able to put it down.
I love this book! This whole series is hysterical! And this book had me rolling! I laughed until I cried! The relationship between Angela and Fran is amazing and so is the relationship with Angela and Mel and all three of them together is fantastic! The whole idea of these books are awesome! And the things Angela experiences in this book are crazy and make you happy and sad at the same time. Not to mention Angela is like (I blame the use of this word on Emily) 137% more brave than I am! Another great addition to an amazing series! And the ending!! Oh my heart! Hope that means we have a book 4 to look forward to!
Carolyn Ridder Aspenson keeps delivering great stories! I loved the addition of Angela’s new “job” as psychic sleuth, as well as the addition of the character Aaron, the likeable yet cranky detective. Working with a homicide cop will give Angela so many more great opportunities to meddle with the dead and the living!
Aspenson’s signature wit shines in this book. Of course Fran and Mel are great as always, and Fran delivers some inappropriate one-liners that had me cracking up. I laughed until I cried when Angela and Mel found the dead cat.
The ending threw me for a loop. I can’t wait for Book 4 now!
I have never read any thing like this book. I could not put it down and I fell in love with Angela a psychic medium, her ghost mom, her best friend Mel and homicide cop Aaron. (Everyone should be so lucky as to have a friend like Mel.) Most of the time I had a smile on my face and tears running down my cheeks. What this lady does is touching, scary and wonderfully amazing all at the same time. I can't wait to read more of this series. Who would have thought death and ghost could be so much fun.
'Unchartered Business' was a great addition to a fantastic series. The storyline was great. I laughed so hard at times, and had tears at others. It definitely pulled at my heart strings. The way it played out was interesting. Angela is getting better at using her gift and the little curve balls the universe throw at her are quite funny. I loved the humor throughout. The characters were awesome. Mel and Fran are hilarious as always. I can't wait to read more. A great add to your tbr list.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This next book in the Angela Panther series is great! Angela, Mel, and Fran are up to their usual hi-jinks and it is hilarious. This time Angela has more than one mystery to solve and her ghosts are giving her trouble. This is the best one yet. Don't miss out on this great read!
I just finished this and am blown away by the characters and story line!! It totally caught me from the beginning and held me till the end. I can’t wait to start the next one!!
Angela starts off helping spirits cross over in a hospital. That's good.
She still drinks to much in my opinion and that's not so good.
There's a boy who may have leapt to his death from a bridge. Or maybe he didn't? Time to work with his ghost to find out. If he can remember what happened, that is.
Angela's ghost mother says Angela's ability are growing. The question is how may more problems will that cause? Also, is something wrong with Mel?
There's also a couple of times in the book that don't necessary make sense and that relates to a couple of times when just sending Angel's ghost mother into a place to start out with would have been the logical thing to do but instead Angela seems to want to relay on just going on in without her mother's recon. There were a few times in previous books that the obvious thing to do was not done either and this just sort of seems a little sloppy writing to me.
This review is basically for books 1-3. So many people leave reviews only for the first. If I read a book and go on to read the next few and enjoy it/them that’s where I leave the review, I still leave the star ratings on each. These books are so good. I’ve always liked V. Laurie’s Psychic Eye books as my favorite comedy medium type of book. I have a new favorite. These are hilarious. Do not read late at night when your hubby is sleeping next to you, he won’t like you keeping him awake. The best review I can give is having to put it up for the night from laughing out loud and trying not to “tinkle”, lol. Hey I’m 52 and I don’t have a young bladder, 🤷🏻♀️.
the early years of Angela Panther learning of the to her initially dubious gift of being a psychic medium. working her way past her personal losses and their effects on her skills, she follows the pains, sorrows, suspicions, and support from some key people in her life. her deceased mother is not only an important part of that journey, she is freaking hilarious, and touching as well. intense emotional and paranormal drama, action and mysteries this book especially addresses issues surrounding public knowledge of mediumship skills, police pluses and hazards, and problems for family members when skills begin to be more publicly known
This is the third book in the series. This book really knows how to get ahold of me- I got Green Acres theme song stuck in my head now. I don't mind tho. Lots of fun 80s references. A few different mysteries in this one. It kept Angela, Mel, and Fran very busy. Teenage ghosts! Sigh! One doesn't know who he is and the other has no idea where she is. Some parts were too TMI but kinda funny. Hot detectives! Aww a sad ending! There is a lot to talk about in this book but I don't want to give anything away. Fun read!
The third of the series and another great read. Amazing characters, funny, sad and relateable. Tevin, a recently deceased young man asks for help to solve a young girls disappearance, the only problem is she pops in and out and he can't remember his past.
Fran again is a hoot and her ever growing group of decease celebrity friends is interesting and I sort of hope heaven is like this.
Normally the banter between best friends Angela and Mel is funny, but there was too much juvenile behavior and sex talk for my taste and I did not feel it did anything for the storyline.
I had read reviews before and was shocked that some people criticized some of the characters. It is a book. Fiction. Personally I loved it. The characters are witty at the right times and the friendship is wonderful. It reminds me of the question, where would you be if your friend was in jail? Me, I would be there with her wondering if we could do it again. My bestie of over 60 years would probably have it figured out. Angela, Mel, keep up the good work. I am so ready for the next book!
While completely not within my usual genre, this story-which can be read as a stand alone, but will hurry you back to get the 'rest of the story', made me laugh side-splittingly at times, especially at the crazy antics between Angela, Fran and Mel. I highly recommend reading this tale if you are looking for a 'get your mind off things', funny romp on the-mostly-unseen side of life!
This is truly a remarkable series, with very likeable characters that inspire hope. It is funny, touching, and just downright entertaining! Whether you believe in ghosts or not, the whole storyline is an inspiration that maybe someone like Angela might really exist. Or, not, but either way it is probably one of the best series I have read, and will continue to read as long as the author chooses to share these wonderful characters!
While I felt the first Angela Panther book was a bit pedantic It was at least too PG, I still found myself getting book 2 and reading it cover to cover in a day. This one is truly the best of the series to date. Coming to grips with her not so wanted so called gift of being a psychic medium, Angela still doesn't want her skills getting out for her family's sake. Despite that she ends up helping the police solve a murder of two or three and now she's in a while new jurisdiction having her ghost of a mother opening locked doors for her. Well Worth the read.
I now am I search I the first two books in this series! Angela and her sidekick Mel are a perfect team along with Mama Fran of course. The author does a great job u developing the story and going into just enough detail for the reader to actually visualize and become involved.
Another enjoyable tale from Carolyn Ridder! I sometimes wonder if she is able to talk to the dead. She gives Angela Panther so much empathy and a true desire to help the dead if not the living and she keeps growing in her skills and that empathy! This time it involves children and the nearly dead. A true good read!
I just finished Book 3 in the series, and sincerely hope there are more to come. I love the friendship between Ang and Mel. Ma is a kick and the way her character has evolved is hilarious. It’s fun to read about a family who loves each other, even as they bicker.
Book is chock-full of twists and turns and ups and downs for Angela, it's a wonder she can continue putting one foot in front of the other! Let's not forget fabulous BFF, Mel, loving hubby, Jake, and 'Enlightened Spirit', Mom, who always have her back. This book is the best yet!
The story line was okay and the ending satisfying, but I could have done without all the repetitive banter between the MC and her bestie and also her mom. Mom's language took a dive, too…other than the gang speak…and I found it irritating.
Overall the series is interesting and I'll finish it, but I’ll continue skipping over some of the idiotic conversations.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I've read and enjoyed almost all of these middle-aged Medium books so far. But this one stands out because of the massive number of errors from misspellings and typos to missing parts. The errors distract us from the story. I hope the editor gets back from vacation in time to edit the next book!
Angela gets a visit from a boy that has passed but he wants her to help a girl instead of him. Angela soon finds out that the girl had not passed yet and needs to be found.
The third book in this series has twists and turns in the story which makes it exciting to read. My favorite is the little stories inside the main one which gives you insight to the characters. I can't wait to start book number four.
I really enjoyed the characters and their intertwined relationships. Two girls can truly love each other as friends. It's fun to relate as a mother to the hetorine.
