In less than two years, Erik Ashendale turned his city upside-down. He’s fought — and won — against vampires, werewolves, ghouls, goblins, lizardmen, wurms, drakes, as well as angels and demons alike. But he is only human.
While recovering from the trauma of his previous adventure, Erik finds himself chasing literal ghosts as he stumbles upon a plot involving a despotic Necromancer, a power-hungry business mogul, and an ancient grimoire called the Necronomicon, which can not only raise the undead, but also summon creatures from Beyond…
Can Erik and his rag tag team make it in time to once again save the world? And why does he have the feeling that he’s the one being hunted?
Erik and his team are back for a fourth adventure, this time battling a Necromancer and his minions for possession of the Necronomicon. There are tantalizing tidbits from past novels, but they are not necessary to enjoy Judgement’s plot.
I found this book to be a gripping page-turner. I really enjoy Erik’s snarky one-liners. Amaymon, his demon-cat familiar, is hilarious and seems to channel most cats I’ve known. There’s a fair amount of pop culture references and modern slang that may not appeal to everyone, but if you’re curious like me, you just Google it.
Add Erik Ashendale to my short list of favorite wizards!
The first book I read in this series captivated me from page one. And each book since has just gotten better! Erik is a smart mouthed wizard with more power than he knows what to do with. And his "family" includes a twin sister, a hybrid witch/succubus, and two demon brothers....for starters. This book is packed with non stop action, magic, danger, and even humor. Five full stars to a job well done! Looking forward to the next book....
I feel like I can’t keep saying this but, I really liked this book. It’s like I keep waiting for one of these books to suck. However, once again. It was a great book. I enjoyed meeting some new characters and the action, like always was spot on. Love the story and I like how Amaymon is becoming more and more a feat character. He’s like almost human. Almost. Lastly, I really enjoyed The Mummy vibe.
I was told about this series through a facebook group and it is worth it! It has a Dresden files feel but the MC is young and powerful, if somewhat irreverent. With a demon and succubus for a sidekick plus a quasi estranged sister, the adventures experienced are humourous and very entertaining. On to the next book!
Someone is after Erik, but who and why is a mystery. Can he work out what is going on or is this situation too much for him to to handle. This really is the best book in the Legacy series so far. The characters are stronger than ever, no one is what they seem and the story tight and fast paced. Highly recommended.
This version very well edited and smooth writing. Once again the action is fast and plenty of twists to try and figure out before the good guys do. Really enjoyed Erick and Amaymon's relationship in this one. New players introduced in this one. It should be interesting. Does Gil have a soft side? On to book five.
I truely love this series! It is right up there with Shayne Silvers and Orlando A. Sanchez, Robert J Crane. This book is interesting in its complex mythology and it’s simplistic writing. Must be hard to keep coming up with great monsters!
Quick read . Through everything but kitchen sink . Lot better then the 2 nd book . After a necromancer of the dead . Great sarcastic humour. But does go over board with . Good heroes and better villains make a fun read 3 -1/2 stars
Judgement is the perfect fourth book in the Legacy series by Ryan Attard. The author comes up with an interesting plot that takes a sinister turn in this book. The plot is much more straight forward in this one it seems and better developed I found. The pace is a constant action packed plot that follows Erik and his friends on his adventures. In this book however he faces more than just his regular enemies, he faces a potential friend to be a foe now, one he did not anticipate for sure. As you are now used to, or should be at least, there are lots of twists and turns, secrets revealed and more secrets that you are trying to figure out still!
Erik continues to struggle with his inner demons and life just doesn't seem to get any easier. He has great support with Abi and Amaymon who are always there to help him with his crazy stunts and I often shake my head and wonder what they will get into this time.
This series is definitely a fun read that will have you hooked. Even though each book is a stand alone I would recommend to read them in sequence since they do build upon each other to some degree. Plus these books are fun and you may as well just start from the beginning.
In this book we get numerous new characters. Some are a welcome blast, i.e. Greg. Others should have Djinn shoved up whatever orifice causes the most pain, . Amaymon gets to cut loose. Erik gets to have a social life. We finally meet the “big bad”. And one of the stupidest events of the entire series happens.
I read a preview of this book as a proof-reader. Again, I received the book in installments.
I loved it! I must say, Ryan Attard just keeps getting better. Many twists and turns, some I could guess and some took me by surprise. Amaymon could be the uncle your parents hate because he helps you get in trouble. But Amaymon always has Erik's back. Always.
Great character development - every book we learn a bit more about Erik's world and the people who surround him. I eagerly await the next book in this series.
The fourth book in the Legacy series keeps up the exciting action, snarky humor, and great characters found in the three previous books. While presenting a resolved conflict, it also builds a long-term storyarc that has magical hunter Erik Ashendale working toward what will surely be an epic battle. I'm eager to see what's next for Erik, his friends, and his enemies.
Great read. Ryan Attard has moved near the top on mylist of favorite authors! His books have it all, nonstop action ,warlocks, talking cats, magic, sarcasm, & humor. I very much enjoyed this book & Can't wait for more. It was a cannot put down story that I read in a matter of hours, adding to the storylines from his first books. Thank you Ryan Attard
