Puma's Pride: Demon Dawgs MC Las Vegas - Book One

Rate this book
Get Dirty With The Dawgs! These aren’t your typical heroes. This MC Romance Series has hot alpha males with smart and sassy females. These men protect the innocent and aren't afraid to inflict biker justice. These fast-paced novels have plenty of action inside and outside the bedroom. Get ready to be seduced by these seductive outlaws!

Puma

You know what you get when you play ball professionally? Everything. Money. Women. Fame. Know what you get after a stupid mistake destroys your career? For me, I became the President of the Demon Dawgs Las Vegas Chapter. Which means I now have even more money, more women and a whole lot of infamy. So what happens when the woman you want only sees you as a player? Well, you try to prove to her you’re not. Easier said than done when a woman from your past shows up with your child in tow. A child you knew nothing about.

Alisa

Puma can have anyone he wants. For some reason, he seems to think he wants me. But I have too many reasons not to go there. Foremost is my little girl, Elina. She doesn’t need the heartbreak if, and when, he tires of monogamy. But the bigger reason is the man who killed my husband. Because I know he’ll kill Puma if given the chance, and that would destroy me.

Author’s These books contain mature themes and possible triggers. Each book covers the developing relationship between its protagonists, each with a HEA. While each novel ends our focus on the protagonists, the novels are by no means the end of the story for the club. Each novel contains a lead-in for the next novel. Highly recommend reading the books in order.

DNF'd at 16% in the middle of chap 6. Pg.38/226..

Even though the title says this is the first book in this series, the book reads like it's picking up where other stories began or ended.

There are tons of different characters thrown at you at once early on, who are all pretty well acquainted with one another, like you're supposed to already know who they are, who they are to each other. So there isn't much set up here.

Also, the scenes are choppy along with the dialogue. Making it difficult to keep straight who is talking and why or what is actually happening..

So just not a fan of this Author's writing style..

Walking 🚶 away from this one..

New spin-off, but needs editing

While this is a new spin-off of the Demon Dawgs MC (DDMC) Las Vegas chapter, it is NOT A STAND-ALONE read. There are concurrent timelines, multiple reoccurring characters, with common overarching themes and antagonists. The stories are also interwoven, so a lot of details that occurred previously would be lost, as they cannot be adequately explained within another story.

** There are multiple scenes, themes and references to subjects that will be difficult for sensitive readers. These include abduction, enslavement, mental health challenges, and trafficking. A high-level list is included below. **

— Although I try to watch it, if you have not read this (or the previous stories in the original series), the following may contain spoilers. —

I love the characters and how the universe is developing with each additional story. There is so much potential within the DDMC universe that I am excited about future stories (as long as they are edited 😉).

I am both enjoying the different way these are written and wanting additional information via a flashback, memory, etc. because K.L. Barstow doesn’t utilize the same methodology when authoring any of the stories I have read to date. The H/h have already met, some in a previous story and some off script. Regardless, they have already been in a relationship, with some professing their love, so there are no details about their first touch, kiss, etc. Therefore, the story is about how they resolve issues, overcome obstacles and take things to the next level as they work their way to a HFN.

I don’t care how much I love a story, I cannot give 5 stars for one that has numerous grammatical and formatting errors. It is a testament to the strength of the plot line and potential that I didn’t give it even less. Mainly this is because I visualize a story as I read it, so multiple issues make it impossible to get, or remain, engaged, which is very, very, very frustrating.

That is why this needs to be proofread and edited by a professional. Examples of what I found include: missing words, extra inserted words, incorrect word tense, incorrect word choice, typos, and incorrect punctuation (so many I only documented them here and there). There are also formatting issues from the beginning to the end regarding character dialogue. I uploaded my notes to goodreads for anyone interested and forwarded my notes to K.L. Barstow.

This story features Puma, the DDMC President of the Las Vegas chapter, and Alisa (and don’t forget Elina 🤗). Normally I try to include how a story begins, but I’m not even sure where to start with this one. That is because if you haven’t read the original series, it will contain spoilers. I will just include that he is a former NBA player that joined the DDMC after a car accident ruined his career. This story begins several years after that time and should be read after Reaper’s Rage. It begins with the details of what occurred when several of the various DDMC members visited the Standishs, etc. in Chicago.

⛔️ SERIES UNIVERSE contains references to, or scenes detailing, subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some, including, but not limited to: adult language; derogatory terms; mental health challenges with depression, anxiety, panic attacks, PTSD, etc.; steamy adult intimate scenes with elements of BDSM with dominance, submission, consensual / non-consensual acts, spanking for punishment and pleasure, etc.; violence throughout typical of the outlaw MC genre such as kidnapping / abduction, murder / death, torture, assault, rape, fighting, trafficking, enslavement, mental, physical and sexual abuse of adults and children, prostitution, blackmail, etc.

Missing the 1st half

Half the story is missing. The first chapter drops you in the middle of their story and takes off running. It's a great book don't get me wrong but... It's the flippin start of a series that starts in the middle of the dang book. You have 0 idea of what in the actual heck all is going on and there is no back story or pre-romance! This is a continuation of a romance that started in another book (THAT CAN'T BE FOUND!!!) I like romance and this is not romance this is post romance!! Where's the start??? I would love to read that dang book PLEASE 🥺🥺🥺

outstanding

I love this story. It has some club tensions but it also has a family drama focus. The kids are a riot. Puma discovers he has a child from a one night stand he had when he played basketball. He is also in love with Alisa and her daughter. It all works out and several get their HEA. At times it is a bumpy road. Enjoy. Highly recommend this book and the series. No cheating, no cliffhanger. It does lean in to the next books drama.

Great story

This is the best story so far of the Demon Dawgs FC. The main character Puma is quite enigmatic and is portrayed well by the author. His love interest, Alisa, we met earlier in another book and of course she has really interesting times happening around her. These coupled with surprises in Puma's life make for a great read. Sorry no spoilers.
For me 5 out of 5

Demon Dawgs for sure

These books just get better and better. Puma is super awesome, I certainly wouldn’t like to meet him as an adversary. I’m not sure if the cartel problem is resolved, but I’m intrigued with the new situation with Chill.

Puma's Pride

Whew these Demon Dawgs always have drama. Personally I think Sal is weak and can't control his minions, he better warn his son. Puma and Alisa were so right for each other. I love Elina and every time something happens with her I chuckle.

This one seemed to drag a bit, but I'm thinking I might just be getting tired of the MC genre. Maybe it's time for a break.
