Cinder Ella's heart stopped the moment she took her first life. It did not beat again until she had killed Prince Charming.

What happens at the end of the love story?

A dark path to happily ever after.

Cinder Ella Fletcher never imagined she would be a princess and she thinks all of her dreams have come true with her marriage to Prince Caden Charming. After the wedding is over though, Cinder discovers life at a royal court is no more than an elaborate pageantry of deceit and infidelity. Hoping to find some happiness in her new role, Cinder befriends a group of misfit courtiers that show her that there are ways that life can be fulfilling from within the walls of a gilded prison, if you know how to play the game. A secret affair with an artist and Prince Charming’s increasingly hostile behavior, leads Cinder to make a choice between wilting away in her royal prison or taking a stand to become the fairest of them all.

It is time for the fairytale princess to write her own happily ever after.

The first half I thought this would be a 4 star review for me…but by the last page of the book, I literally applauded. It was such a good read! It really shows that most villains have a history that creates them.
I loved everything about this book!

Cinder Ella fit the glass slipper, married the prince, and lived happily ever after right? No. Turns out royal life isn’t the fairytale she was led to believe. After feeling like an outsider, Cinder Ella befriends the group of misfit court members that others look down on for not fitting the mold. But when Cinder learns who Prince Charming really is, she realizes that only she can save herself this time.

This retelling of Cinderella was the most different retelling I’ve ever read. Rating in at a spice level of 3/5, the *consensual* spicy scenes are easy to skirt around and don’t contribute much to the storyline, other than depicting her affair with one of the court members. However, please check the CW/TW due to repetitive instances of marital rape/SA and domestic abuse. This dark fantasy romance is definitely not for everyone.

An absolutely captivating tale of "what happens next" for Cinder Ella and Prince Charming after their well known happily ever after...or is it?

Cinder Ella is adjusting to her new life as a royal and discovering it's not all it's cracked up to be in so many ways. And when she reaches her breaking point, she decides to become the author of her own story and bring about change in a way that no one saw coming.

A beautiful lesson on how standing up for yourself can change drastically your story, Immortelle will have you forgetting you were supposed to send reactions to the author because you couldn't put it down 😅

Massey has taken a classic and dumped it on its head. Plucked from obscurity Cinderella is set on a path that will teach her that not all that glitters is gold, and sometimes one needs to get their hands dirty to get what they truly desire.

I loved watching Cinder grow into herself. Told in a classic fairytale style, Massey's authorial voice is strong and her ability to weave beautiful scenes with words is something I've yet to experience with an independent, self published author. I very much look forward to reading and experiencing more of Massey's work as she is gifted with understanding how easy it is to walk the fine line between light and dark.

My only qualm with this is that I listened to this on Audible and the narrator, while having the perfect timbre and tone to her reading, often forgot to pause between scene breaks making it difficult to differentiate between scenes. I did have to rewind a couple times to make sure I understood where I was in the story.

When I say this book captured my heart from the Trigger Warning page, I'm not at all exaggerating, the author took great care to make sure the readers knew what they were walking into, as a survivor myself, I could easily recognize the signs that the author has been through her own share of trauma and that the comfort of her readers was important to her, and she pulled ideas and themes from her book to give us a heartfelt pep talk about finding your worth, I loved that more than I can express

The book itself was incredible, I love twisted fairy tales and have never particularly been a big fan of Cinderella because of what I viewed as her lack of agency in the story, but this really sheds new light on her story, on what it means to only be presented with bad choices, on how strong you have to be to survive and rise above that

This book is the feminist fairytale I have been waiting to read.

A twist on a classic fairytale

What happens after the line Happily Ever After in fairytales? Do they just poop out rainbows from the happiness? Do they get along with their in-laws? Are they sure that whatever they saw was nothing but a glimmer of freedom and not really a chance at happiness? Is it True Love? Do they decide to be a pretty flower blowing in the breeze or a tall brooding tree?
These are all questions Cinderella should have asked before saying yes to the Prince?

I absolutely loved this book! It was a fun read that I had trouble putting down.

A retelling of the classic Cinderella tale, but set in a realistic setting with no magic. Reminded me a lot of the Kirsten Dunst movie Marie Antoinette. A really enjoyable read.

I have always been a lover of fairytales, but this was better than any fairytale I’ve ever read. The storyline is different from any other fairytale adaptation I’ve come across, yet it carried a sense of realism that so many of the genre are often missing.
I didn’t want to put it down. The character of Cinder was a breath of fresh air. You saw the growth and development that she experienced throughout the story, in a realistic perspective that had your heartbreaking for the things she dealt with, and wanting more for her as the story progressed.
The Narrator’s voice was simply perfect for the story and added something extra to the enjoyment of the book. I loved how distinct she made each character in her voices and made them come alive in the story.
If you’re looking for a story that will simply break your heart in the best way possible, then put it back together and give you a new appreciation for the fairytales you loved as a child, you need to grab Immortelle ASAP!
This is the story you never knew how much you needed!

This is not your kid's Cinderella. This book poses the question of did Cinderella really find true love and happiness after going off the castle? The answer looks a lot like a historical lesson mixed with murder and mayhem. Ole Cinder may start naive, but by the end she looks more like the evil queen. This book has so many dark parts it could have been plucked from the Grimm's original tales. Lots of character depth and a very intriguing retelling. I volunteered to read this book via Booksprout.

In a world full of fairy tales, it is hard to open your mind to any other story other than the disney classic we have all come to know and love as Cinderella.

But what if Cinderella decided to save herself instead?

I was unable to blink much less, put the book down as I dived into this re-telling of Cinder Ella and Prince charming. This novel captures your attention as you learn that happily ever afters are not always what they seem and former "bad guys" may not always be who they appear to be.

I read this cover to cover in a matter of hours and I can't wait till the release of the hard copy to add to my book collection. A day in bed very well spent!

A dark retelling of the Cinderella story. We all know Cinderella got her Prince and lived happily ever after... but what if she didn't? What if that was just the start of her troubles?

This book was a wicked tale of class structures, marital abuse, secret lovers, extravagant balls and political intrigue.

The story is underpinned by a heroine who is out of her depth and has to learn to find her confidence to stand up for herself and strike back with what seems like the whole kingdom against her.

So this book isn’t in my normal genre, but the author is one of best friends. I might be biased but it is a well written book. The story explores what happens if happily ever after isn’t so happy.

The characters are interesting and well-written. Even though it’s not my normal genre, I couldn’t stop turning the pages to see what would happen next!

While there are millions of Cinderella retellings out there, I am always curious to read a new one as I love to see the author’s take on the source material. Immortelle takes the fairy tale and gives it a darker twist. Before beginning, the cover and blurb caught my attention and made me very curious to read the actual story. This is the first novel in the Iranora Tales series which feature fairy tale retellings within the land of Iranora. I loved that the novel included a map of Iranora at the beginning as it helped me further visualize the world. Before beginning the story, it is important to note the trigger warnings, which are also listed in the novel. They are Partner abuse, sexual assault, infidelity, death, violence, and misogyny.

The story follows Cinder Elle Fletcher who has married Prince Caden Charming to have her happy ever after. It begins right after the marriage began where the reader (and Cinder) learn that this ending is not what is expected. Cinder soon learns that Caden is not the person she thought he was, and the royal court has a lot more deception than meets the eye. Cinder has to learn how to navigate this new world and it was very interesting to see her grow throughout this journey. She goes through a lot in this story, and I enjoyed how each topic was handled with care. Her journey is not perfect as she faces many obstacles along the way. There are some missteps and some steps forward, which added some nice realism to the story. As the story focuses on Cinder, it was nice that she became a character the reader wants to root for as her emotions and actions were well-written.

Overall, the story captivated me early on and kept me turning the pages until the end. The story is written is a fairy tale style with the magic and wonder yet it is a lot darker than the more famous versions. The author has an interesting style where I can see myself continuing to enjoy her works in the future as it was easy to read with some complexity to make the writing unique. I enjoyed that there were some nice twists and turns throughout with a nice epilogue that wraps-up her story in a satisfying way. The build-up fit the character and plot and it was a novel that was worth the read. I am not sure what the next novel in the series will be called, but the descriptor of a retelling where a beast takes destiny into his own hands definitely makes me want to read more.

**I want to give a special thank you to BookSprout and the author for a review copy of this entertaining and enjoyable novel. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.**

A wonderful but twisted retelling of Cinderella and Prince Charming, who may or may not have been so charming 🤨

This gave me 16th century vibes with gladiators as guards and best friends as mice in the Disney’s story of Cinderella.

Cinderella, a sweet but naive girl who fell in love with Prince Charming, enters the royal family who aren’t so lovely and welcoming with open arms. Having to navigate through weatherly storms of trials and tribulations as a princess, finds herself voiceless and choice less when it comes to living her own life. She finds someone who truly shows her what true love feels like.

Prince Charming, the only son of the charming family, Courts Cinder. After their first time as a married couple, he stops courting and wowing her, she slowly understands that he may not feel the same feelings she had for Prince.

It was great to see Cinder finally unravel and hold down the fort physically and emotionally. Finally putting herself first and not allowing anyone to stand in her way, deserving everything that she fought for to finally possess what she desired the most!

If you love story retellings, this one is for you.

Trigger warnings
- Rape (HEAVILY DETAILED)
- infidelity
- partner abuse
- Violence
- Murder (HEAVILY DETAILED)

Firstly let me talk about the cover photo. It is absolutely gorgeous and attractive. I literally signed up for this tour because of the cover photo and also because it is a retelling of Cinderella. This is one of the best retellings I have read till now. There are so many retellings of Cinderella I have read before but this one is going to stay in my heart.

The writing skills of the author are flawless and she has definitely made the book very gripping and unputdownable. I finished reading it in two sittings. And as I am a big fan of Dark Fantasy I will definitely recommend this book as it is one of the best.

The Storytelling and the world building is really good. The character developments and plot twists were also really nice. There was no excess drama in the book which was really just perfect for me. It gives out a lesson too that only you can help yourself and change yourself. Nobody else can do it for you. But when you do you will surely achieve whatever you want. So have faith in yourself.

This was not at all what I expected but I was pleasantly surprised.
What should have been Cinder's happily ever after became a painful lesson to her.
Leaving her previous life should have been a blessing but it became another cage.
Her marriage is a lie that contains absolutely no love and she is used yet again.
I really felt for Cinder and her heartache pours from the pages as she watches her Prince wander.
Her own comfort is in another man's arms and I found myself enchanted by their relationship.
She has to lose herself in order to find herself again.
A deep and emotional story with dark elements which provoked so many thoughts upon completing it.
This was wonderfully written by this skillful author and is not the fairytale I expected.

This story is about Cinderella and what happens after the (not so) happily ever after. Overall the story was good although I felt it took a while to get into the story and I found myself skimming to get to places with more dialogue etc. The transformation of Cinder throughout the book is a coming of age story but I wish that it was a bit faster paced and more action filled. I found the reason why prince caden didn’t remain in love with her in the beginning a bit weak as it’s meant to take part after this incredibly romantic story of being seen and chosen at the ball.

A Cinderella retelling story, which I really enjoy reading. A steamy Cinder Ella story. The author wrote her version of this tale with great imagination. The author threw in some twists to keep the story interesting, I hope the author continues writing retelling stories, she has the knack for it. An amazing read.

I almost DNFed this several times because it was such a slow read and I was so bored. The entire first half of the book was about how terrible Cinder's life is and how trapped she feels. She doesn't even have her own personality so there's not really any character development. At about 60% it goes from 0 to a brisk 45 and there's actually some story progression. All the action on the entire story takes place in the last 20% of the book. Incredibly dull...

I really enjoyed this Cinderella retelling. It's dark, twisted, and definitely not your kid's bedtime story. The road to happily ever after isn't so cut and dry. Cinder finds this out the hard way, but sometimes what's broken can be put back together and fortified. Check this out if you're curious about what can happen beyond the end of a tale.

Please please note CW/TW before picking this up. Spousal abuse and SA are amongst them

This is what happens after Cinderella's marriage to Prince Charming. Please check TW in this book. The biggest one is marital rape. This was a great book of her finding what she really wanted with some heartbreak on the side. I liked it a lot.

I would say this is a dark book but ends up HEA for her at the end.
