Can a closet organizer fit herself into a single father's hectic life? Or will this female billionaire choose work over love...again?
Owen Church has had more than his share of heartbreak, and to fill the void left in his life by his ex-wife, he manages everything at the premier hotel in Getaway Bay, tries to do the best he can with his two teenage sons, and ignores the loneliness like it's part of his job.
When Gina Jackson, founder of Classy Closets, comes to the island to spruce up the closets in the biggest suites at Sweet Breeze, Owen is smitten by her fun, flirtatious personality, and they start a secret relationship he doesn't want his boss and best friend to know about. And it's not because Owen is ten years older than Gina, or that he fears his sons aren't ready for him to be in a romantic relationship. It's because Gina is a self-made billionaire and might be more focused on her career than she is Owen.
Can Owen be content being the billionaire's boyfriend?
3-time USA Today bestselling author Elana Johnson writes adult contemporary beach romance. She is the author of over 130 books across two names, and there's nothing better than sun, sand, and swoon-worthy kisses! Unless it's a sweet-and-sexy cowboy - read those under her pen name of Liz Isaacson. Or an emotional, heartfelt women's fiction novel - read those under her pen name of Jessie Newton.
I will admit I almost couldn't get through this story. It was deeply rooted in pain and working through your past to embrace the present. I am amazed at the love this man had to stay by Gina's side no matter what. A psychotic episode or whatever. That is the endearing, lasting love anyone dreams of and it's powerful. I am happy I finished this beautiful story. It is not light and not really fun for a summer read. But it's probably the most deeply rooted story is lasting love I've read in some time.
3.5-4 Stars I was worried this would be a repeat storyline from the previous books. But I liked that it was different. I love Owen and was so glad to get his story. I especially loved Owen as a dad. Gina had a lot to work through. But ultimately I liked Owen and Gina together.
Owen has not dated anyone on over ten years when he found his wife cheating on him and then she left him with his boys. Gina grew up in foster care and has never had anyone care for her. She worked hard to put herself through college and then build her business. After her partner took everything and she rebuilt she doesn't trust people easily. She needs to be in control of everything. She came to Getaway Bay to do the closets at Stacey's B&B and then gets hired to do an almost yearlong job that has her working with Owen on a daily basis at Sweet Breeze. Then she and Owen start dating but she doesn't really let him in. When the manager of her business back in Dallas doesn't show up for days, she leave immediately hops a plane back Dallas to figure out what is happening and thinking the worst. Owen offers to go with her but she tells him no. She is so busy that they don't talk after she gets to Dallas. When she finally realizes that she needs help she calls Lexie to come help her instead of Owen so when they finally talk Owen breaks up with her. Will they be able to work things out? Will Gina ever be going back to Getaway Bay? Will Owen forgive her?
I enjoyed The Billionaire’s Boyfriend. I liked the main characters, Owen and Gina. I loved the relationships that Gina had with her Beach Club friends and the relationship that Owen had with his sons. The book moves along at a good pace. While it addressed some serious issues: foster care, infidelity, and betrayal by a business partner; the book focused on the future and how the characters dealt with those things, which all occurred in the character’s pasts. I would recommend this book to all sweet romance readers and definitely plan to read more of Elana Johnson’s work. I received an ARC. I chose to review and share my opinion.
I love this series! I've really enjoyed this series so far and that we still get glimpses of the other couples we've come to love. Owen has been a constant from the beginning and I'm so glad he got his own story. We think of people with money being unapproachable and clueless about life, but this series reminds us that they are human too and I've enjoyed that. Gina has had a rough life and she's still struggling to get past some of that, and I love that she finds that healing among her friends in the beach club and the nine-0 club. Gina and Owen are very sweet together. I enjoyed their story.
This is a story that really made you think about children in foster care who learn to rely only on themselves so they don't get hurt if they have to go to another home such as Gina. It also brings to light how infidelity can hurt a person deeply, as Owen had to live it and raise his sons by himself. So the relationship between Gina and Owen had to build on trust and patience, lots of patience and time to open up to each other, Gina more so than Owen. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing.
Another intense read for this series. Author continues to amaze as each book consistently contains captivating dialog to hold the reader's interest. This book covers the emotional journey and relationship trauma of two primary characters. A father who has raised his two sons to their teenage years finally meets a woman who he is interested in. Unfortunately she has had many disappoints in life from childhood to adulthood which makes for a heartbreaking and tenuous courtship.
Owen Church is the general manager at Sweet Breeze. Gina Jackson has been hired to redo the closets in some of the long term suites. Gina has a hard time trusting people and Owen asks a lot of questions. Will Gina ever let Owen in or will he give up and forget about a relationship with her. I love this series and getting to catch up with the other couples. If you’re looking for a sweet romance, then these are definitely the books for you. I can’t wait for the next two books to release in August.
Both of them have relationship issues. She has never been married but been screwed by a partner in the past. He was married and has two kids whose mom ditched them when they were young. She owns a closet company who is working on the hotel. He is the General Manager of this hotel. They are each other all the time. The issues that they both have caused issues with their relationship. It is an emotionally charged story. This ups and downs are crazy. Love the friends that help them out. Wonderful book.
When Gina goes to Hawaii to 'remake' the closets in long-term hotel rooms and meets Owen, the manager of the hotel, they form a special relationship. Gina is from Dallas and her thoughts are to have a branch office in Hawaii. When she is called back to Dallas because her office manager is missing, Gina begins to wonder if moving to Hawaii is God's plan or is His plan for her to forget Owen and stay in Dallas.
As we get older, we look back at our lives and the things we have accomplished, and question what we have done and what has formed our lives. Gina is terribly afraid our all decisions she has made in her life especially since she has had no one to turn to for advice, feeling lost. Owen has been a force she could not conceive of and now running scared. With love and reflection she is now capable of continuing forward in her life. Excellent read
I am so happy Owen got his story. He is a wonderful father, a great friend, and a hard worker. I love he doesn't want to play games. Gina has lingering issues from her childhood, and I'm surprised it has taken her so many years to try or want to overcome them. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
Gina has a bit of a crush on her co-worker, Owen, but feels like he is out of her league. Owen is drawn to beautiful Gina but doesn't think she will give him a chance. What will happen when they are forced to spend most of their working hours together and Owen comes to her rescue when Gina gets injured on the job? This sweet, dreamy story kept me glued to the pages all the way to the end!
This is another sweet romance in Getaway Bay. Owen finally gets his turn! I really liked that it wasn't a big deal about the age gap, it was more the lack of trust that caused a huge problem! I also liked that therapy took time and was hard, because it's not easy!
Owen, the overall manager of the resort, where he works and lives with his 2 sons, is doing a remodel. They hire former owner of Classy Closets, Gina. They have a hard time since they are attracted to each other. Neither know what to do about that, Owen not wanting to get heartbroken again, Gina felling insecure. What will become of them, read to find out.
I love that our sturdy, background character through this whole series is getting a book! I enjoyed the hard work these characters had to do to get through to the end. I liked the teenage boys and their addition to this book. I’m looking forward to more billionaires.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
The issues Gina and Owen had to deal with from their past would be difficult to overcome for anyone! Owen asked so many questions and Gina wanted to control everything in her life since she grew up without that. And Owen's boys are incredible, i must add! Loved this book and this whole series! On to the next one!
I really enjoyed this story, I loved the characters, Owen and Gina meet at work. He has been divorced for 10 years and she was deceived and finds it hard to trust anyone having grown up in foster care. I loved what Owen’s teenagers brought to the story. This book felt so heartwarming and real to me. I am loving this series.
I'm enjoying these books, obviously, since I'm going through them like water.
However, I do want to say they might benefit from a tiny bit more editing. I've caught misspellings and, in this book, there was a contradiction in a matter of paragraphs.
I love the stories in this series. They are clean and sweet, but deal with large problems and issues that don’t just go away without time and work. The relationships between the characters are fully developed and I feel like I’m visiting with friends when I read these books.
He's a single parent and isn't a Billionaire. She's a single Billionaire with trust issues. Even though there is definitely chemistry between them can she learn to trust after one man stole everything from her. Excellent book.
This a nice beachy read about second chances. I love the storyline, the characters and the awesome setting. This book is recommended for those that love a quick clean beach read.
This story was so fun. I loved the relationship between these two and the chemistry was great. I especially loved the relationship between Owen and his sons. This was a super sweet, clean romance.
