I've read a lot of books written by Em Petrova; she is one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read more of her books.

Ana and Conner two people who have devoted their lives in ferreting out the lies and deception to keep civilians safe. They have one goal but when feelings start to come into play will it help or hinder the end game. Love the characters and the consistent edge of your seat action. The fact that Lach and Anastasy are matched in every way besides size, makes this story so fun to read. No backing down for anyone or anything, even if that means jumping out of a plane.

I loved Anastasy and Conner’s story. The characters are easy to love and you can’t help but find yourself hoping that they can make it work. The story was interesting anf full of action, I didn’t want to set the book down.

“Wicked Instinct” is the 5th book in the ‘SEAL Team Blackout’ series by Em Petrova. In this action-packed, romantic suspense novel, a member of the untraceable special ops team known as Blackout meets his match in a tough-as-nails female spy who you might remember if you read other books in this series.
Lachlan is a survivor; he even survived being infected during a bioterrorist attack in the previous story. He and his team are still relentlessly pursuing a terrorist who is constantly plotting and wreaking death and destruction upon people for his own purposes. Blackout unintentionally interrupts a sting Anastasy has been working on for more than a year. When their superiors assign her to temporarily work with Blackout, the tension that’s always existed between Lachlan and Anastasy soon erupts into something neither of them expected.
I enjoyed what a strong character Anastasy was, and how she and Lachlan both had to learn to become emotionally vulnerable and take different types of chances than either had risked before. There was one scene that was just over the top for me, but aside from that I thought this was a terrific romantic suspense story. The overarching story will continue into the next book, but the lead characters got there satisfying conclusion within this one. The secondary characters continue to be consistently excellent, as they have been throughout this series. We also get a solid lead into the next story, which I am already eagerly looking forward to.

Blackout Seal Team member Connor Lochlan has intrigued me since we were first introduced to him in previous books. I was thrilled to see that "Wicked Instincts" was the readers' opportunity to get to know him better and for home to find love. His over the top strong, protective personality was exactly what I was expecting. However, I loved when it was revealed that he's similar to a mollusk-- hard external shell visible to the world yet possessing a soft tender inside only a blessed few are privy to meeting. All it takes is an unexpected hand to hand combat session with undercover agent Anastasy Kria to bring Loch to his knees. Her mental and physical strength impresses him. Her beauty captivates him. Her intelligence intrigues him. Anastasy joins forces with the Blackout team to help uncover who is smuggling American military guns into the US and selling them to street gangs. The more he gets to know her, the more he falls under her spell and his desire to protect her becomes his main mission. Will she fall under his spell as well? How could 2 people who live their lives protecting their country through different teams ever be able to build a life together and fall in love? Is it worth trying to achieve, or is it better to just walk away before anyone's heart is at risk of getting hurt?
Another fast paced, wildly entertaining romantic suspense book by author Em Petrova. Definitely a favorite book and well worth the read. Lochlan has definitely been added to my list of book boyfriends.

Part of a series, this suspenseful novel does rely on previous books to some extent, but it is nevertheless a standalone, is well-written, and passions are aroused. Tracking deadly weapons that have made their way onto the streets of American cities, distributed by an old enemy, Team Blackout is tasked with following a lead, which takes them to a park in Baltimore. When it would appear that an exchange is being made Team Blackout moves in. Bringing down the youth is no easy task, and to Lachlan's surprise, he discovers a female in disguise. Anastasy has had to fight her way to earn the respect of her colleagues as an operative, but being paired up with the arrogant Lachlan is enough to put her off her feed, especially as she is sporting the bruises from her encounter with him. Anastasy quickly wins the respect of the team with her knowledge and intel and she proves more than capable of keeping up with them, although she is still annoyed at Lachlan for sticking close to her. The novel is fast-paced and exciting and ultimately Anastasy and Lachlan succumb to their passions after a particularly difficult chase, and she quickly discovers that not only has Lachlan become possessive, but that he does not share. The novel accelerates to a heart-stopping climax but ultimately comes to a good conclusion. I received a copy of this military romance as a gift through BookSprout and this is my honest and voluntary review.

This is an awesome action-packed story. I couldn’t put the book down. SEAL Team Blackout is on call 24/7 and travels all over the world for their secret missions. They do the unthinkable to save lives.
Special operator Connor Lachlan believes his work leaves room for nothing but fighting until he meets a secret agent who goes hand-to-hand-in combat against him. Anastasy Kria is about to finish a seventeen-month undercover mission when the Blackout team breaks it up, arrests her, and lets the criminals escape. She is livid. Soon Connor and Anastasy find out they work for the same side and then in horror find they’ll be working together…closely…on a mission. Anastasy is a smart agent who prefers working undercover, in disguise. She acts as a lone wolf and likes it that way while Connor doesn’t want her involved in this “dangerous mission”. They butt heads on everything…until they don’t. Feelings for each other creep up on them and they are shocked at how strong their connection is. Connor never thought he’d have someone to love and he has fallen hard for Anastasy. All of the Blackout team is tough diehard warriors but they are a family and they accept Anastasy as one of them. In “Wicked Instinct” they almost catch the illusive terrorist Mashala Abubakar. Looks like another story is peculating! This series kicks butt in more ways than one. Each book is fast paced and pulls me in. I love that. Conner, or Lach appeared to be a butt a times and Anastasy just as pigheaded. That of course made them excellent at butting heads :) Anastasy had the smarts big time! Kudos to smart kick ass women. The plot is a page turner. I loved the little tidbits dropped here and there. I think the world is underestimating Anastasy! Kudos to Lach and opening his heart and his Christmas pull off! IMHO these should be labeled erotica, though if they were I wouldn't solicit to read them and then I would miss out on the awesome plots that Em Petrova weaves. I would appreciate more of her great plot and less of the pages and pages of detailed sex. Let me be clear these books are *not* downgraded because of the sex. Each book I have read in this series can be read as a stand alone. For some reason this one left me feeling like I missed something. I have not read every book in this series, but close. I am guessing I missed the one where Anastasy was introduced and I kept feeling I was missing something. That has never happened in this series to me so I am a little flummoxed. Simply enjoy! What a strong story this was with a spy who is hindered in her mission by Blackout.
Anastasy has been working for months to find out how military weapons are sold on the street and used by street gangs. She's got an entrance to one of those gangs and she's in Baltimore to get the gang.
Blackout has the same information and when they all gather in a park in Baltimore they think Anastasia is one of the terrorists and Lachlan tries to catch her. But Anastasie is not that easy to get and deals, and takes, blows.
How is it possible that she continues the assignment with Blackout, with Lachlan as a contact person?
Strong story with strong characters. I loved Anastasia! A badass who stands her ground and has skills that allow her to read body language but is also good at disguise with which she surprises people every time.
And Lachlan, he seems so confident but inside him is a man who knows what loneliness is and with the arrival of Anastasia learns what love is.
You can read how they treat each other when they meet for the first time, but also how both, no matter how difficult it will be, open themselves up to each other.
A wonderful story with exciting moments interspersed with moments full of lust and spicy scenes.

Connor Lachlan of the Blackout Team met his match, when the team was called to a gang infiltrated area being flooded with stolen military weapons. Lachlan interrupted the sale between two men and what turned out to be another government agent. Anastasy Kria worked for a government agency where she could move freely to any agency that needed extra help. She had even worked with Blackout before, but she was in disguise which she was known to be a master of changing identity. After Sparrow discovered her identity, and how much information, she knew about their current case. He requested she be assigned to their unit. Lachlan and her were assigned as partners for the duration of the investigation. There was an attraction between the two of them, but they could not seem to help themselves from making snide remarks back and forth between them. He took his protection detail serious. She was use to working undercover by herself. The team continues to fly the world in search of clues for the terrorist Abubakar. There was plenty of suspense, action, angst, romance, and steamy scenes to capture your attention to the very end.

Let me start off by saying that I could honestly not look away from the cover. Like, you won't believe how many times I closed the book and went back to gazing adoringly (and quite hungrily) at the cover. I am not even ashamed of this anymore. I was at first, but then I thought, "Nah, this book is for the reader's pleasure, right? So, this is very pleasurable."

I really liked Lachlan and Ana's banter, sexual tension, and subsequent romance/action scenes. My favourite part was when Ana overcame her fear of flying by leaping out of a goddamn plane to save Lach. That was just epic! My heart was pounding.
The parts about Mustang hint at the next book in the series, and I, for one, can't wait to read it. I haven't read the previous books yet, but this book made me very interested in the other couples' love lives (though they can't be as good as Lach and Ana's, right?)
This had just the right amount of suspense and drama to keep the reader interested - though the main plot of capturing the terrorist wasn't fulfilled yet. We'll see what happens in the next standalone book.

The was so good!!! I just loved the entire story! The plot was entertaining and these characters have so much amazing chemistry! Both of them are strong leads and they are not ones to back down. They each had their own missions and having them cross wasn't ideal...until it was. Spending that time together just was so heated and yummy!
He had intruded on her mission and his caused hers to have more hardship. Now having no choice but to team up together, they find that their attraction is far too great to ignore. He believes this is real and hopes she feels the very same.
And it's a good thing that she does!! The heat level between these two is very high and there is so much chemistry. They are so attracted to one another and show it as much as they can! The writing is great and there are no dull moments here! I felt for one member of the team, I am hoping he is getting back with a certain someone and there is a reason for everything...A great read and I can't wait for more!.

A great book and a great addition to the series. The story of Connor Lachlan and Anastasy Kria both working to stop illegal guns coming into the hands of illegals who want to cause death and destruction in the USA. They come against each other by mistake on an operation that goes wrong and the sparks fly between them. There is lots of drama, suspense and romance in this book. It is realistic and raw and pulls your heartstrings as well as keep you on the edge of your seat. They all but burst into flames when they are skin to skin. The scene when they are on the airplane and Kria forces herself to go against her fears and try to save Connor instead is epic. Completely a surprise! This book is a captivating, emotional and sizzling hot read that flows effortlessly. We wait for the next book in the series that brings us to Mustang’s story and hopefully a great ending as all our thoughts are going here. This is an intensely captivating book that is molten hot and messy. When will they capture the terrorists! I could not read this book fast enough. Special Operator Connor Lachlan is part of SEAL Team Blackout. They are a specialized team that basically are so undercover that to the real world, they are dead. The team is on a mission to stop a terrorist from distributing a new dangerous military weapon to civilians. They have a lead in a park and Lachlan fights with a woman that he thinks is one of the civilians buying the weapon. It turns out she is Anastasy Kria who has been undercover for almost 18 months and now Team Blackout or mainly Lachlan, blew her cover.
There is another lead on the case and Anastasy is told to work with Team Blackout to secure the weapon. Lachlan is told to basically protect Anastasy while she is with Team Blackout.
What happens when Anastasy and Lachlan can’t ignore the sexual tension between them? What happens when the mission makes them pretend to be a couple in Paris? Will they complete their mission and go their separate ways?
I was excited to read another story about Team Blackout and Em Petrova did not disappoint. I can’t wait for the next book.

This was a good quick read, but I would definitely recommend reading the series in order as there is an underlying storyline that runs throughout. It was a military, romantic suspense with some enemies to lovers and fake dating themes. This time Blackout was tracking guns that were being sold by Abubakar and trying to stop his next shipment.
Anastasy had worked alone for most of her career. She wasn’t officially affiliated with any agency and was a master of disguise. Blackout ruined the deal she’d spent seventeen months working on and she is ordered to work with them on the guns deal. Anastasy and Lachlan are forced to work together during the op and their fighting quickly changes from antagonistic to foreplay. But how can these two operatives have anything more than a fling? Their jobs take them to different corner of the world, not to mention Lachlan is technically dead.
This was a good addition to this series. It spent a lot of time setting up the next book, but that added to the intrigue of the story. The final showdown between Abubakar and Blackout is definitely going to be explosive.

Merging Missions . . .
The author’s Seal Team Blackout Series presents awesome military stories that are action-packed and full of suspense. In Book 7, we see operative Anastasy Kria who has put in many painstaking months of undercover work to find the terrorist link explaining how military grade weapons have shown up in the possession of civilian. The Newest Blackout Novel is Complete Fire!
I’ve just read my all-time favorite Em Petrova book…again. Each time I read a new one from the fabulous Ms. P, I think this is The One. Sigh…proven wrong yet again. So far, SEAL Team Blackout is my favorite of her series. Hands down. Full stop! “Wicked Instinct,” Book 6 in the lineup, is the best of the best in my opinion. I have been waiting for Connor Lachlan to get his HEA for a while now, and I’m so happy that he met his match in Anastasy Kria (a bada$$ in her own right). This story had all the hallmarks of an amazing Em Petrova book: suspense, action, panty-melting chemistry, fantastic characters, heart-tugging feels, and the sense of family that the author has created within the Blackout Team and their spouses. So, I guess since I absolutely adore Petrova’s books, I should just say this one is my all-time favorite Em Petrova title…for now?

This was an enemies to lovers romantic suspense.
I love every book by this author. The stories are action packed, suspenseful and steamy. Highly recommend!

December 21, 2022This is the sixth book in SEAL Team Blackout series. All the books are connected so you will see most of the characters from books 1-5 and have a few spoilers if you haven’t read them yet. Lachlan and Anastasy's story is packed full of suspense, action and hot and steamy enemies to lovers romance. There is a lot of tension between them from the get go and they fight quite a bit at first but their attraction is strong. Is there a future between a man who to the outside world is dead and is part of SEAL team Blackout and a spy who is use to being on her own all the time? Excellent addition to the series. I can’t wait for book seven.

Another scorching, action packed story from Ms Petrova.
Anastasy is an extremely strong, capable young woman who has worked hard to be treated as an equal amongst predominantly service male groups. She has a well honed ability to read people, which comes in very useful in her line of work.
Lachlan is at the top of his game in a black ops group and whilst he has no problem accepting women into the group he finds it unexpectedly difficult to extend the same courtesy to Ana. From the start he feels a strong urge to protect her and keep her from harms way.
This is a fantastic thriller with an at times breathtaking heat between the two main characters. A gripping page turner from the start.

Anastasy is a mistress of disguise and working under cover, is non too pleased that her set up to buy arms is interrupted by Blackout team. Lachlan and his team are chasing the trail of stolen military weapons being out on the streets.
When the two have to work together there are sparks and drama, love and hate, attraction and distance, sexy times, passion, drama, danger...its all there.
They are a well matched couple. Neither are willing to fail, focused on the job, but also on each other. He is protective, she is fiery.

December 29, 2022Loved this book! Anastasy doesn't lack in the confidence area...in her own words :"she kicked Lach's ass" even though Lach called it a tie! How these two danced around each other to Ana choosing her career over Lach and as the seal Lach is he didn't just leave it at that. For someone that likes to work on her own, she respected the camaraderie between Lach and his team, perhaps felt a teeny bit envious that she isn't really a part of a team. Let's not forget about the reason they eventually teamed up...to catch the bad guy. The journey is far from over, but I can't wait for the next book in this series.Em Petrova

I enjoyed this romance story with all of the characters. The two main characters were Anastasy Kria and Connor Lachlan.
Anastasy Kria has been on an undercover mission for awhile but when another team blew her cover she not happy. Now that the other team knows what happened with her they want her to join with them to get something that there looking for.
Connor Lachlan is a special operator. His team are look for something that has been killing people. When a mission doesn't go so will and instead they get a woman the is all so looking for the thing they are.
This was a fun story to read. It had action, suspense, adventure and a little drama throughout. It had a few giggles within to.

This book was extraordinary in that the main female character Anastasy Kria is one bada$$ woman. She's the master of disguise, has seemingly limitless and important connections up into the higher government levels and moves in the shadowy spy world with ease. We met her briefly in Merciless Survival when she moved Farah to the safehouse. Connor Lachlan is equally bada$$. He's cool and calculating under pressure, deadly when it's called for and a protector through and through. But why is it that this woman has gotten under his skin like no other? Teamed together in an effort to ferret out Abubakur while the Blackout Team tries to figure out the terrorists latest plans. These two are incendiary together but can it of will it last? Or our their worlds too different?

Wow, so good and full of feelings.
This was about Anastasy, an agent who gets swept up with the Blackout team especially Connor Lachlan, when his team botches up her undercover assignment.
Connor and Anastasy were just explosive, both in personality clashing and physically together. The steam was impressive but the romance certainly was wonderful. Lachlan was so protective but she had to learn to put up with him also.
Well written as always, amazing team of characters and globe trotting action. Definitely one I'll revisit again. So good!!.

Loved Lachlan and Ana from the start both are out to save the world there story takes them all over the world as they work together with the rest of the blackout team to take down the bad guy. Their attraction to one another is a level 10 heat that soon turns to a lasting love and the family becomes a little bit bigger. This series has the same bad guy throughout and a few more of pieces will fall into place. This is a very well written fast paced action packed book from page one. Can't wait for Mustangs story. I received a ARC from Booksprout and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
