Everyone from WEST Protection was attending Modeen and Corrine's wedding, when Landon thought he saw a girl from his past in the crowd. It turned out to be his bestfriend's little sister, Elliot (Ells) Watson. He had not seen her in years, before he knew it she managed to crash into him then have them on the run through the middle of the reception toppling the champagne fountain escaping from a man after her. As they left the ranch, Landon called Ross to let him know what was going on, and he gave him a description of the man. Ells had discovered information at work her employer would have preferred she had never learned. The only person, she knew to turn to was Landon even if he drove her crazy as a kid. She knew she would be able to trust him to help get her out of this mess she had got herself into. They would tease and torment each other for fun as kids which as adults they realized was sexual foreplay. They were on the run for days growing closer everyday. They soon learned, they were no longer kids but grown adults with grown adult feelings. Plus, no matter how hard they tried these guys following them were not going away, and every time they moved some how, they always managed to find them. Lots of exciting action, mystery, intrigue, suspense, and steamy, steamy tear up the sheets sex. You for sure do not want to miss this one.

The ticket to his past and the key to his future?
One look at Ells and not only does the past come roaring back but Trace finds everything he thought he knew about himself and the future he wanted crumbling into dust. She is everything he didn't know he wanted or needed, she brings him to his knees and I loved it! He was the last Wynton standing and was so smug in his bachelor status, I love the chaos and impulsiveness she brings into his well ordered life and that eventually he sees past this to finally acknowledge it is her huge heart and care for others that gets her in trouble...not her impulsiveness.
I look forward to the next book and seeing a softer side to Judd. I read this on Kindle Unlimited.

"Close Range Cowboy" is Book 10 in author Em Petrova's series WEST Protection. Just when I think this series can't get any better, I am left pleasingly shocked. This author never seems to disappoint!

He is a guy that prefers to love 'em and leave 'em, never to form an attachment to a woman as serious as marriage or even long term dating. He is at his cousin Corrine's wedding, minding his own business with a glass of whisky, when a blast from his past comes barreling into him. Elliot "Ells" Watson is his best friend's little sister. Impulsive, beautiful and spirited, Ells is always up to something and despite the years, things have not changed. When Ells stumbles upon something at work that she should never have seen, it will take Landon, WEST protection Agency and the FBI combined to keep her safe. Elliot Watson, what were her parents thinking, a name that got her teased while growing up, Ells never let people call her anything but the shortened version. Until she has to crash a wedding to get the help from her brother's best friend and one of her worst tormentors. Landon only ever saw Ells as the annoying little sister he never had, UT when danger is close on her heels he will do everything to keep her safe. A really exciting read, love how Ells keeps tripping into danger even when trying to blend in. Another great hit.

Sexy Cowboy, you won’t see me coming!!
The West Protection series truly gets better with every book. I love how the characters grow and overlap through the books. There are always new and exciting characters to look forward too.
Landon Trace and Elliot (Ells) Watson were a hoot. They not only brought a lot of comic relief and laughs but great sexual chemistry. The snippets from their shared history growing up gave them a lot of depth. How do you stay safe from people chasing you? Crash a wedding and run over your childhood nemesis. Ells tendency to act before she thinks has hit again. The only person who can help her is the one she never wanted to see again.
This story brings this couple full circle to their roots as a best friends’ little sister become the one to change everything. Close Range Cowboy is full of lots of suspense and just good old fun. Throw in some smoldering cowboys with a savior complex and really who wouldn’t want to find trouble. I couldn’t put their story down and you won’t either.

Close Range Cowboy is the tenth book Em Petrova’s WEST Protection series. It is an amazing romance novel filled with suspense, great chemistry, interesting characters, a fantastic storyline and a happily ever after.

Another fantastic addition to Petrova’s amazing WEST Protection series. Ells’ impulsive choices drove me crazy but I loved how Landon’s protectiveness balanced her out. This is book ten of the WEST Protection series and the main characters are Landon Trace, co-founder of WEST Protection, and Ells (Elliot) Jean Watson, the little sister of his old best friend growing up, Evan, who now works as a receptionist for Marvis Insurance. He hasn’t seen her for some fifteen years, until he suddenly sees her across the room at his cousins wedding, and she is certainly all grown up now! He used to annoy her all the time, making fun of her boyish family name and trying to push her away from whatever he and Evan were up to. She was always impulsive back then and it seems her impulse control has gotten her into a bit of trouble now as well. Someone is after her and they have found her at the wedding, back in her old home town. She asks for Landon’s help and he can’t refuse her. She is now his ward, as he calls clients he needs to protect and he soon finds out that she discovered her employers were still taking Social Security payments for dead customers. She found all this out when left behind when the rest of the company went on a retreat, considered not important enough to the firm to take along! Well, she certainly got back at them! Unfortunately, her discovery was accompanied by blaring warnings sirens and she only just manage to escape the building.
She knew Landon had set up in security and she was supposed to be babysitting her two nieces in town whilst her brother and his wife celebrated their anniversary, so she was already close by. Landon takes them somewhere he thinks they won’t be found, but is sorely mistaken, especially when Ells can’t help but call attention to herself in the casino! How the bad guys actually find them each time is never quite cleared up, which was a bit disappointing. When the number and type of people coming after Ells increases and gets more intense, he soon figures out that she must have stumbled into something much bigger than first expected. They need to get a computer and figure it out, or they will never be safe. The FBI are soon in the mix, but it is WEST Protection that do most of the heavy lifting concerning her security and protection, with Landon soon finding himself forgetting about his assumption that he was single by choice and wasn’t cut out for marriage or relationships, like all the rest of his cousins and family! He and Ells have an explosive chemistry together, which neither of them can resist once they are stuck in a room together for long periods. Watch out for some steamy stuff going on, just when he should be making sure he isn’t distracted, as danger closes in. A pretty predictable incident occurs and the hero is left to save his woman! Lots of action throughout and Landon sticks close to his ward, as he provides close range protection and brings it a new meaning. I look forward to reading more of the series and catching up on all the other characters who make up WEST Protection! Landon Trace grew up teasing his best friends sister Elliot Watson aka Ells who absolutely despised her given name beings it was a boys name and the fact she was just heartlessly and horribly teased her entire life so she insisted when she got older to be called Ells never Elliot. Landon, his best friend Evan and Ells grew up together with Landon and Evan teasing her relentlessly. Now years later Ells enters back into his life, she in trouble and she desperately needs his help. It has been years since they have seen each other, him and Evan aren’t anywhere near as close as they were, still stay in touch occasionally. Doesn’t take long for Landon and Ells to both pick up on the fact that time has been rather kind to the both of them. Ells is all grown up and absolutely beautiful in Landon’s eyes. Ells hasn’t missed a beat discovering just how unbelievably tall and gorgeous her Cowboy is. Once Landon finds out why Ells is on the run from the company she works for and what she did that has them after her at any and all costs to take her out he has decided to protect her with all he has. Will their red hot immediate chemistry get in the way of protecting her? Can Landon and the rest of the West Protection Agency protect her from the danger that seems to be lurking around every corner? Can Landon continue to stay immune to becoming involved with a woman or will he fall for Ells his best friends little sister? From front to back and everything in between there is plenty of action, drama, suspense and more danger than you can imagine. Will they all make it out alive? You will not be able to put this book down. Love this author! Amazing story teller. You will not be disappointed if this is your genre. I am so looking forward to the next book in the series. Danger, suspense and swoons
I enjoyed Ells and Landon’s best friend’s sister, bodyguard, forced proximity with a side of danger romance. The book was well written with witty dialogue, characters with depth, and an engaging storyline. Landon is part owner of WEST Protection. Ells is the little sister of his best childhood friend and they grew up together. While snooping in her work computer, she finds evidence of social security fraud and now she’s being hunted and needs protection. Back in their hometown she immediately asks for Landon’s help. As they spend time together and get to know each other as adults, their feelings for each other grow right into forever. But before they get there they must each deal with the current threat and their pasts because they continue to negatively impact their lives in the present. This book has a little bit of everything you’d expect from romantic suspense - sweet moments, fan your face steam, dangerous action, strong family and friendships, uber protective men, painful pasts, and even a few chuckles. I really liked Landon in this book but I was not as big a fan of Ells. She felt too childish and impulsive continuing to make reckless choices even after she knew she was in danger. This made it harder to connect with her character. Despite Ells’ character, I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series. 3.5 stars.

Fast paced storyline with humor, intrigue and suspense. Elliott/Ella crashes the wedding of Landon’s cousin, Corrine looking help from thugs chasing her. From the beginning this story grabs your attention and keeps you guessing what’s going to happen next.
Landon is quick to step up to protect his childhood best friend’s little sister. He doesn’t feel so brotherly around her anymore though. The attraction sizzles between them after an intense kiss moments after they run into each other.
The romance and suspense is even more exciting due to their past connection. They were each other’s nemesis growing up, but Landon is definitely protective of his best friend’s sister and now that the attraction is simmering he’s even more motivated to protect her.
Several of the characters from previous books in the series are mentioned or make appearances. While the story would be most enjoyable having read the WEST Protection series, it can be read as a standalone - you just will have a number of side characters to wade through.

Where does one go when having witnessed a crime you have thugs chasing you across the country? The only logical solution is to throw herself into the arms of Landon Trace of WEST Protection, her childhood nemesis, and tormentor of her soul. Fortunately, both Landon and Elliot, better known as Ells, have done some growing up and although Landon still delights in teasing Ells, he takes her case seriously, especially when someone starts shooting at them. Ells feels guilty about the many times she has been spontaneous and acted without thinking. In this situation not only is her own life in danger, but that of her brother and his small children too. With the WEST Protection team at his back, Landon does his best to keep Ells hidden, but it seems the thugs are just one step ahead of them all the way. In the meantime, the chemistry between Ells and Landon is off the charts, and keeping their feelings under wraps proves incredibly difficult. Fortunately, this well-written novel does come to a happy conclusion, despite Landon sustaining some war wounds. Elliot was a young woman who grew up in Stone Pass Montana in the shadow of her older brother Evan and his best friend Landon. The guys would pick on Ells as she wanted to be called rather than the familial name Elliot she was "blessed" with, always teasing her and her tomboy ways...but when she crashed into Landon at his cousin Corrine Winton's wedding reception saying she needed his help from guy following her, he rushed to the rescue...and boy had she changed. Now with womanly curves he almost didn't recognize Ells, but then she was never graceful, so them hitting the champaign fountain was par for the course...and when she told him why she was being followed by men hired by her employer, he knew he needed to bring to case to WEST Protection and the authorities...but could he remain cool, calm and collected around a woman who now was driving him crazier than she did as a kid...you will need to read this roller-coaster tale to see what happens...I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Close Range Cowboy the tenth book in the WEST Protection series by Em Petrova, with angst, drama, and an abundance of sexual tension too! Ms Petrova is a talented and insightful author who has a knack for drawing the reader into the plot and holding them captive till the last page is turned, and she continues to be one of my favourite authors (and I always buy her books in print) who continually delivers intense, action-packed, and intriguing storylines, has done it again with this latest endeavour. As with previous books in this series, I liked how she combines suspense, danger, intrigue, and passion to tell a heartfelt and engaging story that captivates her audience from start to finish. Close Range Cowboy is a fabulous addition to this fast-paced, and exciting series and a thoroughly entertaining read.

Once again we are with the guys from WEST Protection and this time we get Landon's story and like all of the preceding books in this series it is a roller coaster ride of suspense and drama with some red hot romance thrown in

Elliot "Ells" Watson has always done what she wants when she wants and damn the consequences but that has got her into trouble this time when she stumbles across something she shouldn't see. Now it will take all of his skills and the help of his team and the FBI to keep her safe and while that is all happening he is very quickly been blindsided and falling in love Can they have a future You will have to read to see

Landon and Ells Have Such a Special Storyline!
Em Petrova’s WEST Protection series just keeps getting better with each new title! In “Close Range Cowboy,” Landon Trace has his past practically fall into his lap at a family wedding when the younger sister of his childhood best friend reaches out to him for help. As with all of the WEST storylines, there’s sizzling chemistry, suspense and action, and I love the dynamic between Landon and Ells. The emotional growth for them individually, combined with the dangerous situation they find themselves in, and the super-steamy sexy bits had me on the edge of my seat and fanning my heated cheeks. And I love how so many of the characters are woven into the story — those who’ve already found their HEAs and the newer characters who will (hopefully) get theirs soon. Love love love this one, Em Petrova!

Absolutely knocked out of the field with this one!!
Talk about action packed, I have nearly no nails left and at times the drama was so intense I stayed sitting on the edge of my seat scrolling and reading as fast as I could to find out what happens. The twists and turns are incredible!! Ms Petrova has such a way of bringing these characters to life and pulling her readers in on their journey as well as making us fall in love with them. Talk about action packed, I have nearly no nails left and at times the drama was so intense I stayed sitting on the edge of my seat scrolling and reading as fast as I could to find out what happens. The twists and turns are incredible!! Ms Petrova has such a way of bringing these characters to life and pulling her readers in on their journey as well as making us fall in love with them. Elliot/Ells childhood's "tormentor" sure has grown into a fine-looking man and that was before she rushed to him for help when she got into some bad trouble. Landon Trace has known Ells for most of his life but only as the young pest of a little sister of his best friend, Evan. When she crashes his cousins wedding because something is after her, his protective nature as a WEST Protection agent kick into high gear. He soon realizes that maybe his years of tormenting her were a pre-curser to something more as he begins to see her as a woman and not his best friend's little sister. His first action is to keep her alive before he can even consider pursuing a future with her. Great action and danger and sizzling sex scenes make this another 5 Star read from one of my "go to" authors.

Upset by but thoro0oughly enjoying her protection, Ells demands to warn and have both her family and a co-worker protector, drawing the attention of her employer’s gunman to her secret location. This reader wasn’t well served by the outing, the very juvenile, very spoiled, over indulged Ells exhausted my taste.

This was so good and full of action from start to finish.
This was about Landon a cousin agent of WEST Protection and long time Best friends sister, Elliot who hate crashes a wedding because she is in trouble and needs his help.
This was a realistic portrayal of the situation they were in. I loved the dynamic between Ells and Landon and how they were with each other, even with the history they had. It was well done.
I also loved the team spirit of the WEST protection team and the guys helping each other out.

Landon never expect Ells to crash the wedding he was at and neither did he expect her to be in the danger she was and needing his help, but here he is helping his childhood friends little sister. I just loved Ells and Landon together as sparks that were there when they were younger turn into more now they are all grown up, but there is danger nipping at their heels after the discovery she made as her work that her work will do anything to stop coming out.
This is an adrenal rush from the get go, but shows when you really need someone they are there for you, add in the chemistry between Landon and Ells while trying to stay ahead of the danger has you turning the page.

I loved Close Range Cowboy: Book 10 of WEST Protection. Ells needed help and she knew the one person who could help her was her arch enemy, Landon. He had bullied her as her brothers best friend growing up but she needs help and he will help her. Ells discovers some illegal things at her work and now people are tying to kill her but Landon won’t let that happen. He never expected to fall for a woman much less ELLs but now that he has her he’ll never let her go, he just needs to keep her alive so they can have a future. Such a a great storyline and lovable characters. I love this series and I would definitely recommend this book. Looking forward to the next installment.

While they are hopscotching around, they bring in the FBI. Can he keep her safe until her pursuers are stopped. Lots of action! I love this series…..

Loved this story so much! Ells found out some information she wasn't supposed to so she goes to find her brother's best friend from their youth. She has a perchance of getting into trouble and it continues throughout the book. Landon immediately takes her under his protection and as you expect fireworks fly!
It's a really good story and I enjoyed it overall. What I wish there was more of was the ending. Everything wrapped up quickly (for Landon and Ells) and I just wanted more. The closure of the actual trouble she was in was great, but it felt rushed through how Landon and Ells officially get together. Overall, though, a great romantic suspense and I look forward to the rest of the WEST boys!.

This is the tenth book in the WEST Protection series. You can enjoy it as a standalone but it is connected to the other books so if you have read this series you'll recognize some of the characters. Ells impulsiveness has her neck deep in trouble so she heads back to Stone Pass to plead with Landon for help. Landon hasn't seen Ells in years but he was her brothers best friend when they were kids. Landon still enjoys tormenting Ells but he's also attracted to her causing him to start rethinking his stance on serious relationships. Steamy and the story is fast paced. Loved their story and can't wait to for book eleven.

An exciting and well written storyline with plenty of danger, suspense, contract killers, chemistry and a chance at forever. Landon has sworn to never enter a relationship of get married, but being around Ells has and realizing what a smart and intelligent woman she has become changes his mind. Love this series and am never disappointed. Awesome read.
