Fated Hearts #4

Perfect Fit

Rate this book
Two incurable bachelors, one incredible journey…

Jagger Jackson hides behind a sexy playboy veneer. He’d rather people see him as a man who doesn’t believe in love, rather than one who doesn’t deserve it. No matter how hard he works, he still sees himself as the unlovable boy from the wrong side of the tracks.

Miller Brexler doesn’t believe he’ll ever meet a man who could make him want to settle down. He’s perfectly happy with his hit it and quit it lifestyle. Behind his easygoing nature is a man who’s passionately devoted to his career, family, and friends.

JJ and Miller are brought together when their best friends meet and fall in love. Sparks fly from the very beginning and no matter how much they try to fight it, their attraction is unavoidable. What starts out as “just sex” has the potential to become so much more if JJ can come to terms with his painful past, and Miller is willing to admit that love may be the missing piece in his seemingly perfect life.

Will these two stubborn hearts admit that they might’ve been wrong about love or will they allow the chance at true happiness to slip away? This is the tale of two imperfect men that together make a perfect fit.

Perfect Fit is the fourth book in the Fated Hearts series and can be read as a standalone novel or as part of the series. Many of the characters in the book have been introduced in Chasing Mr. Wright, Rhythm of Us, and Surrender Your Heart.

I'm a wife and mother of three teenage kids. I've been married to the same wonderful man for twenty years. I've decided that if I can survive raising three kids then I can survive anything!! I haven't uttered the Mama's curse yet, but it could happen any day now. You know the one..."I hope you have a child just like you someday."

I'm an avid reader and lover of all things romance. I've spent my entire adult life waiting to follow my dreams of becoming a writer. One day this past summer, I decided to just do it. No more wishing and hoping. I haven't quit my day job, but that is my ultimate goal...make a living telling stories of love.

I write contemporary gay fiction. I hope you will love reading my books as much as I enjoy writing them.

Am I ready to throw in the towel on this author? I fear I have hit the same affliction that some of my other GR friends have with Elsborg, Via, and the like. They battle with themselves, and it's easy for me to tell them "Put it down....are you nuts?" I told myself it was the last time....well, last time. But then I wanted to read JJ and Miller's story (<----insert my whiny rationalization here).

So here's the thing with ANW. She sets up a pretty good story line for me. And she makes the first third to half of the book work pretty well, most of the time anyway. And then it's like she doesn't know what to do with the second part of her stories, and she falls into the trap of amateurish writers everywhere and pulls out "the big misunderstanding," followed by the immature sulking of one of the MCs where he ignores the other MC and gives the silent treatment for days on end.

The other ANW issue - the cheese. She's a bit cheesy. It's not in her dialogue (thank God - I'd have dropped her books faster than you can say "honey lumpkins"), but it's in the way her MCs evolve quickly and sharply from their characterization once they meet the other MC. I get that the infamous playboy can change his ways once he meets THE ONE, but you've gotta write that smoothly. And she doesn't quite pull it off. One other point. She has one HEA and one HEA only - marriage and kids. I just can't with this. Todd - are you cringing?? How about ILY with a "Move in with me" epilogue? How about some kind of epilogue where they talk about possibly getting engaged down the road? There are lots of variations to try that we all love, Ms. Walker! Please STOP with the marriage and kids!!!

Ok, I've digressed. Because by now you're like, Renée, why the every-lovin-fuck do you still read this shit? And it's because the story does initially suck you in. And you get great sex! And great banter! And great secondary characters! And an HEA! All of my requirements in m/m romance.

I freakin LOVED JJ and Miller in the other stories! I knew I was reading this book, even with the disaster of book 3. Book 1, Chasing Mr. Wright, was pretty good, "the big misunderstanding" and subsequent immature pouting and silent treatment notwithstanding. So I had to read about JJ and Miller, the two biggest manwhores of the group who had no intentions of settling down with one person - EVER. Of course we could read the writing on the wall and they would be each others' one twu lurve.

And the sex was gonna be off the fuckin charts HAWT! And, fuck, was it! Honestly, this was the best book of the series for me.

But surely ANW wouldn't, couldn't, go there with the marriage and babies.......right?

Riiiiiiiiight.

I don't know, yall. There's so much potential here for her to mature as an author. She needs to just stop it with these contrived dramatics and cookie-cutter HEAs. Because she knows how to set up her MCs and their stories well. The interesting part? This book is #1 on Amazon right now in the genre. I noticed when I bought it. So she probably doesn't need to change a thing, does she?

Maybe a break for a while is what I need. Or maybe reading one more will force me to finally put it on my "stop reading this author" shelf.

**** And the pieces of the puzzle fit together perfectly... ****
I love this series of Fated Hearts. Each book is unique, and so wonderful. Each couple is a different set of issues, and beautifully written with lots of heart.
Miller/Bones, blonde,, blue eyed, Doctor, a PHD in Anthropology,

meets Jagger/JJ/Jag, who is a successful Lawyer.

Neither man wants commitment and begin their friends with benefits (FWB) sexcapades. Wow, are they a hot couple with electricity when they connect. Great - awesome name calling, funny banter, intelligent, witty, and deep conversations. Secure and well off in their careers, these guys relate to each other and are a perfect fit.
Terrific pets, and Maleficent and Ursula the kittens,

Indy the Pug,
who are adorable ! Miller's niece and nephew, totally cute kids.
The men share tragic past stories, heartbreaks, and mistakes, and they have each other's back, no matter what. That devotion came in handy, when facing critical family and friends. We get to see them having fun, dressing up for a party as Indiana Jones and a Pirate, plus the Ugly Sweater Christmas party.
Did I mention the hot sex scenes?? !!

But their steadfast devotion was tested abit here and there, but nothing compared to the shock and devastation Miller faced. Jag was by his side throughout, willing to help. So heartwarming, touching, caring, indispensable to one another, and they're frank, honest, blunt, always.
This beautifully written tale is amazing, with two fabulous people who complete each other. LOVED IT !
I appreciated the pair, their struggles, their fun, the solidness of the final result.
Heartfelt - super sexy - and yummy, you will enjoy this !

Nice storyline about two comminment-fobes getting together. It starts out as just sex but graduatly evolves to so much more.

I really did enjoy this one, but the MC's were not communicating for half of the book, which let to a lot of unnessesary misunderstandings... I hate that shit. Also I think it was a bit too long, it started to drag a bit after the middle. Still the characters were nice. I liked JJ more than Miller, since he got on my nerves the most. The steam was also very nicce, but it went from very descriptive, to rushed and fade to black.

Still it was a nice book and eventhough I haven't read the others in the series, I had no problem following the storyline. Characters from the previous books do play a big part in this one. Grayson really annoyed the shit out of me in this book, so I will not be reading his. I think his and Chase's book is book 1.

3,5 stars from me

Of the 4 books I’ve read in the "Fated Hearts" series this one so far has been my favorite. It was nice seeing their love build, that this wasn’t instalove right off. All have been great stories with sweet, wonderful characters but the plot in this one came across as more realistic. JJ has believed he doesn’t deserve love for the better part of his life. Having endured trauma no one should have to go through his guilt eats away at him to the point where he cuts himself off emotionally from all the people he loves. Miller likes his attachment free bachelorhood. He has no need for relationships being a "love them and leave them" kind of guy. He is in no way prepared for the attraction he feels for his mutual friend, JJ. We get to sit back and watch JJ and Miller give into their crazy attraction and insatiable lust. Believing it’s a one-off they are unprepared for the pull they have for one another. Deciding to try a "friend with benefits" type of relationship both men willing explore their desire for one another. Having two alpha men, who are deathly afraid of commitment come together, you know that there are bound to be snags along the way. JJ and Miller fight to be together and when they get to the point where they admit their feelings amazing things happen. The story is full of drama, angst, trauma, and a lot of sexy time. It was really good to finally hear JJ’s story and to see him find happiness with Miller.

It seems to me that the series has gotten better over time. I think I mentioned this in the review for the previous book. There is still an aspect to Ms. Walker's writing that gets on my nerves, but that's just personal taste. It seems cheesy at times and there is a whole section in the middle of this book that dragged on for me because the MC's couldn't have a conversation like normal people. Overall its a good book with two interesting characters. The thing I love about series books is the dynamic between all of the different characters and these two are an important part of the group so their interactions are interesting and relevant. It was a good read for me with a lot of sexy times.

dnf @50% skimmed to the end

Just like with the first book it was a good read until like 30%. After that it got sappy and boring even if I caught the plot twist later in my skimming.

I guess this author is not for me.

I loved JJ since book one and had been waiting patiently for his book. I couldn't believe I missed release day, but hey, I made it.

The author did more than justice to JJ. He got the best HEA in this series. I wasn't too sure about Miller, but as soon as I read the first interaction between them I was a goner just like JJ. This book was overly sweet, but it was perfect. I didn't expect the plot twist that solidifies their relatiosnhip, but it worked well with the rest of the story,

Time moves fast in this story, and several details happened off pages, but overall, it was a quick read. It was nice to see all the other happy couples. I though this was the last book in the series, but there's another one already available, so I have to check it out.

I THINK I’M IN LOVE with both of them. Nope I don’t want to share, matter of fact I won’t share! Miller and Jagger are two alpha males if you look in the dictionary you would see a picture of the two of them.
Jagger let his past influence his love life. He never thought he was good enough for love. Then a Tragic situation confirms his thoughts. Well at least in his mind it did. JJ wasn’t willing to love or let anybody else love him. But he would give you the best sex he could as long as you didn’t expect anything else.
Miller is scared to love. So he uses men for what they are good for sex….If you believe everything you see and hear. You would believe the word that comes out of Miller mouth. LOVE IS FOR PUSSIES. He doesn’t need nor want to fall in love.
If I didn’t know any better I would say fate brought JJ and Miller together. Why not, they are one in the same. They both claim to not want love. They both claim that love is for pussies, they both say you can’t change their mind about love. They both uses sex as a game and as long as you can get them off and leave without expecting anything you are the one for them, and they both thought they was going to play the same game with each other. JJ thinks its sex he wants from Miller. Miller knows it sex he wants from JJ. What they don’t understand why they can’t get the other off their mind. But, the sad thing is they both secretly want to be loved.
Sooner than later they start make room for one another. They start comforting one another. They realize they need one another. Their life mushed together so easy. Without it happening they realized they are perfect for one another. They fit perfect in each other lives. And without even noticing they became the perfect fit.
I story flowed beautifully, the characters are one in a million. The sex was hot; I loved it from start to finish. Keep them coming Aimee. I gave this book 5 stars.

Wow, WOW!!! If I could I would give 10 stars.
This will now be a new go to book when I need a pick me up.
I have been putting off reading this one because I love Jag. He has been my favorite person since book one. Miller a close third as Xavier is second. I was so afraid what the author would do to my boys.
I loved ever bit of this book. I was so conflicted on whether I wanted to speed my way thorough or take my time. It was as perfect as the name.

“You didn’t ruin anything, Jag.” He dropped a soft kiss on the top of my head. “I wanted to spend it with you and that hasn’t changed.” Miller began to rub his hand up and down my back and I relaxed into him. “I’ve always known that you hid a lot of sadness inside of you and I’m always willing to listen if you want to talk. I promise that what you tell me stays between us, just like Vegas.”

They always stayed true to who they were even when falling in love. I cried when Darrel and Destiny died. The pain for all of them and of course Jag was the true hero as he always has been. I cant even express how much Jag and Miller are perfect. I am going to put them up near the top of my all time m/m couples.

“It was so much more from the very first kiss and we both know it. You breathed life into me with your kiss and I knew I was irrevocably changed.” He gave me a sweet smile before he continued. “We made jokes about love, we had fun with our puzzles and games, but the truth is that I meant every sappy word and gesture I wrote or spoke. The truth is that I’ve always felt like one of those oddly-shaped puzzle pieces that never fit no matter how you turned it or how hard you pushed it. I just didn’t fit. Then I met you and I knew that you were the piece I had been missing all along. You’re my perfect fit." <3 <3

Too many rainbows and unicorns for me. However, if that's what you like, enjoy your sugar induced coma here. If you are more like me and like a well-written, gripping and engaging story, read Kindle Alexander, Lane Hayes, Ann Lister or Riley Hart instead. While there are some slightly tearful moments here, this author notoriously likes to write about sugar plums and fairy tales instead of realistic life challenges and character growth that can only come from life's true struggles. Hence, dull and boring in my opinion.

The best in the series in my opinion. Jag and Miller are amazing characters, and their chemistry is unbelievable. I felt the really were connected and a great couple. The only slight problem I had was maybe the having to hide their relationship for so long, Miller needed to grow up a bit. I know he never intended to hurt Jag but he managed to a few times with his harsh comments in the beginning, flirting with other people etc, where as Jag made it clear to Miller where he stood time and time again. Was a great read however and love this couple.

So I broke my first rule when it comes to books: If a book is part of a series read the prior installments first unless the book is marked as “can be read as a stand alone". But you guyzzzzz! I have a good excuse why I broke my rule. See, day in and day out for months on end all I kept reading about is how everyone else was dying to read this book. How this was going to be an epic match up and how fans seriously can’t wait to read how it all plays out. Well, when you see it put that way all day every day in your feed who can resist wanting to be in on the read too?

I bit the bullet and went in reading this as a stand-alone. Biiiiiig mistake! There were a couple of things that I did miss the deeper significance of because yep, not a stand alone. The second issue I had is regarding the MC’s. I adored them both as individuals but the storyline and plot were pretty predictable, nothing I haven’t come across in Walker’s prior books. Despite this bit of a let down I freakin' ENJOYED the story which is the ultimate goal right? The sexy times were phenomenal. The emotional times were touching and watching the relationship evolve with each turn of the page still made me grin from ear to ear.

I’m curious enough to go back and read the first three books in the series. I liked this story and that’s all that really matters in the end right?
Recommended.

I really liked Chasing Mr. Wright. I loved the whole love at first sight, sweet romance. I loved Rhythm of Us. I have a thing for tormented MCs, especially the ones who have had some kind of trauma. So Xavier and Ben were my favorite couple. But then I read Miller and Jagger's story. I'm not really sure what I was expecting, but Perfect Fit was just....perfect. I've never really been a fan of the whole sex buddies thing. So when they decided to do that and then promptly fell in love, I felt better. I really liked how even though they were just sex buddies, Miller never hid Jag from his family. And I loved how Miller's family accepted Jag into their lives. It really made Jagger happy to finally be a part of a loving family. Even with the tragedy, I felt this book really progressed naturally. I loved it!

2.5 stars!

This started really well.

I enjoyed all the hot sexy times and the chemistry between the MCs despite the annoying lack of simple communication and Miller's outstanding selfish & snarky behavior . Then the story started spinning out of control. J.J's downright unnecessary childish behavior because of something so normal was the catalyst for my waning interest . To make Matters worse, the resulting "resolution " of this was just ... ugh. After that, I just gave up on the book and HEAVILY skimmed the last 40% of the book.

Such a shame though. It had so much potential.

Two men too hot for commitment!

I recommend this book to anyone who is feeling lonely because this book clearly will put you in a better mood. These guys are so far apart at the beginning it was funny to watch them come together. At one point I wanted to throw my kindle against the wall. Sometimes I laughed and once or twice I cried. I do think this book is the best in the series however, I may have said that for everyone. Way to go Nicole it definitely will be a book I will re read again and again.

Definitely a PERFECT Fit!

I was so excited for Miller and JJ's story and it was everything I could have dreamed of. I'm glad that we got a happily-ever-after for all the characters we love in this series. The only thing is that I wish Gram would have made more of an appearance in this book.....it was wonderful how she took everyone under her wing and made them part of their family. I loved it. Perfect ending to the series!!!

2.4 stars. My biggest issue with this book was that it didn't make me feel engaged and I think that was because the author told rather than showed the story. Otherwise, the premise was good and the MCs and their sidekicks were likable. Still, I can imagine that soon enough I won't remember this book at all.

Even with the constant miscommunication and refusals to acknowledge what they jad together, I loved how Jagger and Miller's romance grew. From nothing more than bedmates to everything to each other, with all the bumps along the road stubborn men encounter. And wow, was the sex hawt!!

Well it might not be fair of me to comment since I didn't read the rest of the series, but this was so much contrived HEA bullshit it was actually painful for me to finish it. I had to read it for a challenge and I was completely locked in... but what a bunch of sappy crap.

The only reason I was able to give it 3 stars was because the story was pretty original (though 100% not believable) and the whole thing flowed well.

If you're a fan of this series or you enjoy this author's writing style then I recommend this one. It just definitely 'wasn't for me'.

Okay here we have another winner from Aimee. I have been waiting for JJ's story since the first book in the series . JJ is Chase's best friend and sometimes lover when we meet him in the first book in the series . We learn that JJ has a story and now we get to hear it. We also get to learn more about Gray's best friend Miller . They have been best friends for a long time and now that Gray has Chase, Miller feels alone. Miller has a story as well.
Both of these men are more alike than they think. From the beginning, the chemistry between them is on fire and I couldn't wait to read the heat these 2 would make and I wasn't disappointed. Aimee knows how to write hot scenes. Who can resist two alpha males that switch . What else can you ask for in the story! Miller feels he isn't meant to be in love and JJ feels he doesn't deserve to be loved. They decide on a casual fling to satisfy both their needs but it turns into so much more. They both didn't believe in mushy love but that is exactly what you get with these 2 men. The story itself is great and I loved reading it. The way Miller and JJ come together and stay together is heat warming. Miller breaks down JJ's walls and JJ lets him in. We also get to catch up with all the other great characters in the previous books and see how life has gone all for all of them. All in all this was a really great read for me and I can't wait to read what is next from Aimee. Perfect fit was a perfect read !!!

Outstanding perfection

I'm awful at reviews but Aimee deserves some credit for this epic work of art. All us fans of The Fated Hearts series have been waiting for Miller and JJ. And Aimee did not disappoint. I loved them before this book but now I totally ADORE them. They were arrogant and cocky but sad and a little lost. But as time moves forward so does their love. The sexual tension was off the charts HOT AND SEXY. I couldn't wait until they finally came together. They melted my Kindle. Once they began communicating, many insecurities were solved. But their strong feelings of love, devotion, caring and scorching sex were vital to building a solid relationship. There was sadness that totally surprised me but our boys remained strong and United to help overcome and build a stronger bond. There was amazing humor and joy. I loved seeing all of Aimee's other amazing couples throughout the story. This is, by far, my favorite book by Aimee. But I will re-read each book all over again and again. Aimee Nicole Walker is pure genuis

This one was my favorite of the series so far. Yes, I wanted to thunk JJ and Miller’s heads together numerous times but then they’d do something that would tug at my heart and the moment would pass. JJ’s reason for backing away from commitment makes so much sense after you hear his backstory. Psychologically it’s no wonder why he is the way he is. It would take someone like Miller to wake him up and he does. Miller gives JJ all that he denied himself his entire life. Of course this story has major drama mountains that they need to get over. From a jealous and greedy Senator to incredible loss. They overcome so much together and are rewarded beautifully. Aimee has written such a beautiful series filled with love and revelation. We’ve seen so many men and women in this collection grown and fallen into great adoration. JJ and Miller were Aimee’s latest victims and she did them right. Absolutely lovely!!

I didn't expect this novel to rehash the story of J and Miller right from Chase's and Gray's first meeting, and because the author kind of had to rush through everybody's stories all the while constructing the J-Miller story, the first part of the novel felt rushed and weird. During this introductory section I was a bit apprehensive, but then it picked up.
In the end this is one of my favourite stories from the series. It turned out really great.
At this point I also realised that ANW is one of those authors whose series get better and better with each book. Not the kind of author who peaks with volume 1 then comes a downward slope.
Really loved this novel, there was drama, there were plenty of references to the previous couples - which I always love in series and connected novels, there was love and all the sugar spice and everything nice stuff I look for in these novels.
Really a great read.
