For a condensed history they covered a lot of ground. It is probably as fine a short history as you'll ever read. There were a few small things that I didn't like but the overall work is such they are immaterial. I particularly would point out the conclusion section, a touch "preachy " but the hard numbers about the cost of the war was impressive. I also was impressed with the sections on Russia, Stalin was not a good guy and his actions are at least compatible with Hitler's in many ways and the book doesn't sugar coat it. Good read.
World War II does a great job of laying the complexities of the Second World War out in a clear and concise manner. I appreciated the fact that they broke the war up into topics in order give more focus on various aspects, without trying to cram everything together in one narrative. By approaching it this way, it makes the subject matter less daunting.
World War 2: An Enthralling Guide to the Second World War was excellently written. It gives much information and whets one’s appetite to want to learn more about the subject.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. It was an information overview of World War II. While all wars are horrific, this war contains several particular horrors that I personally hope are never repeated. One can only hope that we learn from history.
