One Pucked Up Pack

Rate this book
Winter break wasn’t supposed to turn into a whirlwind romance for Charlotte Hodges. She finds her dream pack landing in her lap, just a year before she’s due to graduate.

But life is never that easy, especially when the men she falls in love with are all getting drafted to different hockey teams. Long distance is hard. It’s even harder when the people you trusted the most aren’t there for you in your worst moment.

Charlotte thought she could move on. They would never put her over hockey and Charlotte knows her worth. Unfortunately, she can’t seem to forget about the three men she fell in love with on the ice. Especially when they'll do whatever it takes to make this pack work and prove they are the right Alphas for her.

I feel like I can’t say I didn’t like the book due to the fact that the h deals with some depression, abandonment issues, and grief but y’all….I didn’t like this book!

I immediately didn’t like the heroine from page one. In her opinion she’s lived the hardest life. What’s made her life so hard? Well, thank you for asking!

1 - she was born 8 weeks early BUT has no residual affects - no medical issues, etc. “Timing” just wasn’t on her side whatsoever that means…

2 - she displayed as an Omega early and now she has anxiety….

3 - she got a full ride scholarship to an excellent school that pushes for Omega equality and hates it. Why? It’s a few states away from home AND she misses her dog

4 - she full out admits she “uses” Alphas for their knots.

5 - she’s the requisite “woe is me” girl

All of that in the first chapter. She wore me out in less than 20 pages! Mentally I was done with her.

The angst in the first chapter surrounds the fact that the Alpha she hooked up with 2 weeks ago didn’t put effort into their hook up but is exerting a lot of effort into banging up her roommate on their table….oh and he wants to date the roommate (no, the Alpha did not hook up with the h to get close to the roommate). To our lovely heroine who’s had such a hard hard life that means that she’s not good enough for anyone! Oooorrrr, maybe your just shallow and only used him for his knot anyways so why would he put any effort in 🤷‍♀️

I scanned ahead to see what the issue causing the breakup was and while it’s wasn’t solidly on her part and the guys did mess up she went 0-100 way to damn quickly. She blew the issue way out of hand and quite frankly became a mega bitch with the move.

I don’t know what the hell the Hs saw in her but they must be saints because anyone else would have walked away and been better for it. It means something with the h has exactly one friend…not because she’s antisocial or weird, but because (from what I gathered) no one wanted to be around her.

I just eat up everything this author puts out. This is my favorite story of hers so far! I did feel like it was a bit long, it started to drag around the 70% mark but I was more than happy to keep reading to see this pack’s happy ending. They deserved it!!! I did have a favorite pack member (Mikael) there’s just something about a man who’s got a bit of self loathing/doesn’t think he deserves love that really does it for me 😅

Good but MC was kind of annoying towards the end. Her anger, while understandable, didn’t really feel fair in the way she handled Mikael. In the same way she was allowed to feel her feelings, he should have been allowed to feel his. It also seemed like a one sided apology and a round of trauma Olympics. I feel like Mikael deserved a bit better than he got. Regardless, the ending was good and the author definitely wrapped up nicely despite what happened before.

Another great omegaverse by this author! Charlotte was adorable and strong, and held her ground when she need to. Anders and Eli were so sweet and just wanted to take care of her, and Mikael was the perfect little splash of angst. I felt for him and his hang ups on their relationship and I wish him and Charlotte talked about it more. I would say this was on the lighter side meaning things never went too deep, which isn’t a bad thing, it was a very fun read. The characters were very well developed individually but with the insta-connection and some time jumps their relationship isn’t as well developed. I loved reading the three alphas tripping over themselves to do whatever Charlotte asked of them though.

Although this book felt long at times, I really enjoyed it. It was a fun, hockey omegaverse with a lot of spice and knotting, and so many sweet moments too. I know when I pick up one of Sarah Blue’s books, I will not be disappointed.

DNF- FMC was very immature & selfish.

I’m sorry but I do not like Charlotte and totally agree with Mikael. Spoilers

So I liked the first half of the book and I understood how difficult their relationship would be but I was rooting for them. I’m sorry but Charlotte went through something sad and traumatic yet her first reaction was let me block the numbers of the 3 people I basically fought to get to with. Why was her first thought to get on Instagram after not hearing from them and find their agents page to see what they were doing. Okay cool. I can even get that if you overlook that her mother just died but yes let’s get on IG. But for her response to be let me block them on ig that is very immature. To be fair she did a lot of immature things prior but come on this just seems childish. Knowing the damage that Mikael went through and then for her to read his journal and be like she deserves better it’s not just about you. Girl stop. People cannot fix what they do not know. They (Anders/Eli) tried to reach out to you and check on you, ran back when you decided you were ready (which let’s remember was orchestrated only because they made a way to get on the same team), and then you are still acting like they just understand. I am not belittling her loss but I am just pointing out that she was very selfish, did nothing to get her men back, and then had the nerve to be upset that one of them wasn’t ecstatic that she was ready to give it another chance. Thee people rearranged their life for you! Sorry not sorry I wish Mikael cut his losses because his so called pack was not very empathetic to his feelings. He has enough childhood issues to work through to be with someone who would be nothing but a trigger and gaslight him after stealing his personal journal. If Anders/Eli wanted to be gaslit and chase after someone at least let it be someone who would give the same energy. No chemistry, steam was low, and maturity was lacking. Unrelated to the pack but Charlotte also was a terrible friend to Piper for all 400+ pages. I don’t understand people’s like for this FMC.

This was super cute and fun, yet fairly spicy. I really loved Charlotte, and all of the guys. I’m notorious for usually having one guy that I don’t really love when it comes to RH but that wasn’t the case for this. Anders though…I hate to say it but he’s my favorite. This is technically my second dip into omegaverse, but I’ve been intrigued after reading the Forbidden duet. I’m happy to say that once again I was surprisingly pleased by this genre, and now I’m probably going to have to read more.

My only complaint is that I really, really hate time jumps in books. It’s one thing if it happens once, and it’s to catch us up to present day, but this had so many. There were “2 Months Later” “3 Months Later” and even a “4 Months Later”. It made things feel rushed and kind of zoned me out, which is why I didn’t give this a four star. The rest of the book made up for that though, for the most part. My favorite part specifically was Mikael’s rant and him saying:

How do we make this all work when the three of us get drafted to different teams? Huh? Pass you around like the fucking brotherhood of the traveling Omega?

I audibly laughed SO hard.

I don’t know what the fuck I just read. I went in with a thought but I- I don’t even know. It was kind of stupid. Charlotte was a shitty character she just rubbed me the wrong way. The whole books she’s like I’m not a “crying person” but bitch you cried the whole book. And I can over look the plot, writing, and etc if the book has good smut. But it wasn’t that good. I’ve read so much better. Some people would be like “omg it’s so spicy” but it’s not. Would I recommend? No. It was a waste of time.

I'd like to thank Sarah Blue for the ARC of this book that I got in exchange for an honest review.

"Bad things have to happen to make us who we are. In the wake of tragedy is where beauty thrives."

I was introduced to the Omegaverse subgenre by the Heat Haven Omegaverse series and I fell head over heels for it. When I learned that Sarah was writing another Omegaverse book I just couldn't wait to read it! Now I'm sad that I read it too fast, but it was utterly impossible to put this book down.

Charlotte 🥞 is our sweet omega with lots of abandonment issues and problems to fit in. She found herself basically alone, with just her mom, her best friend, and her lovely, gigantic dog. In her hometown during winter break, she was hit by destiny (literally, IYKYK) and met her three scent matches. And scent matches are very rare and cherished.

Eli, Anders, and Mikael are alphas, best friends, hockey players, and teammates. They all had different upbringings, making them envision the pack life and their future differently. Eli 🌲 is a leader and very much pragmatic. He was raised with money and with little to nothing knowledge about Alpha/Omega dynamics or pack life. Anders 🌰, on the other hand, was born within a loving pack in Finland, and he's the one who knows best about the dynamic. Hence, he's the most caring and sensitive over Charlie. And we got Mikael 🔥, our favorite hotheaded, French Canadian, asshole. For him, the hockey career means a lot more than it does to Eli and Anders, and that can be a problem.

But, hey, they're scent matches, everything is perfect, right? Oh my sweet summer child, not even close. Something happens and Charlie sees herself alone once again and with her abandonment issues screaming at the top of her lungs. This story isn't a straight line with a little bump toward the end. No. It's a black hole in the middle of the book that'll rip your heart to shreds - but, god, if I didn't find it very refreshing! We got a very beautiful, real, and heartbreaking depiction of depression. It made me feel all the feels.

"Whatever tomorrow, or ten years, or fifty years for now holds, all I can think about is how fate brought us together on a frozen lake, but how love and determination will always keep us together."

This pack has my heart - I love each and every one of them. It's always good to see the characters growing as individuals as well as pack, and we got that in this book. Also, seeing them all being held accountable for their actions was nice and mature of them.

This book was very different from the Heat Haven series, it was waaay more angsty, and I absolutely loved that. It was good to see Sarah's Omegaverse from another perspective, with more drama, groveling, feelings. The smut was a given. The heat scenes are always my favorites and Sarah didn't disappoint!

I'm so glad that I got to read this book early and I'm sure it's gonna be one of those that'll stay with me for a long time. And I'm already digging the next one, I'm dying to know what will happen to Piper.

Omegaverse RH Hockey Adult Romance with spice.

I wish I could rate this book in two parts because to me it almost felt like two completely separate books.

I loved the first half. honestly thought it could be my first 5 star of the year. omegaverse, hockey, scent matches, what's not to love.

I really started enjoying the characters, especially Eli and Anders. Charlotte started getting on my nerves before she met the boys with her lack of confidence and unsureness of herself. On one hand she seemed confident in her self, would hook up with Alphas etc, but then in the next moment be thinking 'ugh I'm not like other girls, am I a good omega??' so that was a tad annoying.

I enjoyed the scene of how they met, how they began building their relationship, the nerves of realizing they were scent matches. I also liked that Eli, the leader, wasn't super familiar with omegas so that brought in Anders a bit more to the story. The tension building between omega and Mikael was also fun to read. I didn't love how their tension just all of sudden disappear. It was 'total avoidance' all the sudden to 'lets not fight this' BAM LEVEL 100. so that seemed a bit strange for me.

thennnnn we all went downhill from there.

The tragedy with her mom while they were being drafted came out of the blue and was such a shock. I enjoyed being surprised by it since I was really hoping the conflict wouldn't be 'I couldn't reach my men in vegas' or 'one of them cheated' so that was awesome..

I didn't love who she then became in her grief. it was too hard for me to believe that she fully cut them off with no explanation and blocked everything. I understand that they were working to change their contracts but it also seemed unlikely that they wouldn't hire a PI to track her down, go to Kathy's house, ask the neighbors etc to find out what happened/where Charlotte was.

I understand that Charlotte was grieving and depressed on her meds but she just seemed so selfish to cut everybody off because 'nobody answered her calls for 36 hours'. when they truly didn't have their phones.

That also lead to the typical skeezy agent to plotted against their relationships. I feel like that's the standard so I didn't like that it was the main conflict around the 80% mark. I also didn't love the tension and toxicity in charlotte and Mikael's relationship the second go round. even with the letters (especially with his journal) I just don't see how you'd come back from it. they seemed like they truly hated each other so I don't understand how they just bounced back from that like nothing was wrong. also when she was thinking 'I don't know why I like torturing Mikael. Getting under his skin just gives me a high', all I could think was 'girl you better call up Janet because you need a lot more therapy and should not pursue this relationship...'.

I feel like I'd give the first 55% of the book a 4.5 and then the last 45% of the book a 2.....

Sarah Blue, coming through with a combo I didn't know I needed in my life. Hockey and omegaverse is a match dreams are made of.

Anders, the omega-whisperer, was so freaking darling. I adored him so much! And the way Eli was so new to omegas but so willing to ask for advice? My heart. <3 Mikael, I love, just wanted him to be treated better...

I really enjoyed this overall, but I just have to say I HATED the way Charlotte disregarded Mikael's feelings in the third act. LET PEOPLE FEEL THEIR FEELINGS WITHOUT TELLING THEM YOU SUFFERED MORE. IT'S NOT A COMPETITION.

Also love that I, a miscommunication hater, was also itching for MORE drama and angst. Mikael was really riding that hate train for good reason, there were some serious topics touched on, the potential was there.

While scent matches and undeniable pulls between an omega and alpha makes me SO HAPPY, I do wish the characters did go through courting and what not. The scent matching gives them reason to just fall into the nest and establish a pack, but I wanted to see the relationship develop on a deeper level.

This wasn't perfect, but I had a fun time! This was also my 100th read this year :3

I'm excited to see Piper's story in Don't Puck With My Heart! (love me a female alpha <3)

Mikael pissed me off so much. I'm going to blatant about my expectations for men in omegaverses: they need to have no other need, want or desire except to provide comfort and orgasms for their omega. That's it. When you don't give me those things I start to throw tantrums. So this review is exactly that. This is my foot stomping, cereal throwing sobbing in my giant blankie tantrum.

A train wreck but like….not in a fun way.

Buckle up, y’all.

Never, in all of my book reading, have I ever had such a visceral, negative reaction to a female main character. She was seriously awful. She should be grateful she even had scent matches because she ain’t winning anyone over with her sparkling personality. She’s crappy to her mates AND her friend. Mikael, the only alpha that had any sort of personality, deserved better from her AND from his pack. It’s unacceptable that he didn’t even get a proper apology even though he bent over backwards to try and apologize to her (after her own betrayal!!!!!!) for something that WAS NOT THEIR FAULT IN THE FIRST PLACE!!! SHE BROUGHT IT ON HER SELF THEN GASLIT EVERYONE AND PLAYED THE VICTIM!!!!!

“Making him suffer” ???????? Oh my god this girl is the worst. She’s even terrible to her own best friend.

Maybe I’m the red flag but I can’t believe there are so many reviews that think that what Charlotte did was completely ok and that the guys were in the wrong.

Other than the godawful characters, I think this book lacks the feral-ness that I’ve come to love about omegaverse stories.

This is an arc review but all opinions are my own.

It’s so nice to see Sarah branching out and writing a hockey romance while still making it an omegaverse because she’s so amazing at writing them but this being a hockey romance makes it just abit different and fresh which is really enjoyable!
When it comes to the men I will have to agree with pipers list of her favourites(fmc bestfriend). I’m such an Anders girl through and through. He’s such a sweetheart but also turns the heat up in the bedroom. I loved how intune he was with what an omegas needs were. Saying this I also found it super cute how Eli didn’t really know much but was super eager to learn and got all flustered. The back and forth with Mikeal did get abit tedious at times for me and I think a lot of it came from ignorances and pettiness from both him and Charlotte.
HOWEVER the star of the book for me was Hank.

A decent read in terms of writing quality but full of miscommunication and unnecessary drama. Plus, very limited character development. If it wasn't leaning heavily on the fated mates/scent mates aspect I would have had no clue whatsoever why any of these people genuinely enjoyed each other's company. Author definitely had potential but needs a good editor to help them expand on some aspects and limit others.

This was my first Omegaverse book, and WOW, did it blow my mind.

Charlotte is an omega who wants to find her pack. She attends a university that is full of Omegas and Alpha's. She has no problem finding an Alpha that can help her during her heat, but none of her hookups seem to want to stay longer than that.

Her pack barges into her life when she returns home for Christmas break. She finds three hockey players in a secluded area, and she cannot believe that she has three men who are meant to be hers forever.

This journey, far from being a simple romance, is a rollercoaster of emotions and trauma. It delves into depths I never anticipated, adding a profound substance to the story that will leave you wanting more. One Pucked Up pack is extremely spicy, as one would expect, with a why-choice. I would recommend this to others looking to read an Omegaverse with a great plot.

This was my first omegaverse and will not be my last.
Not as much hockey involved as I hoped, but the plot is still firmly in place.
Charlotte is an okay character, but the fellers are the best part of this, especially Maikael,
Will definitely be reading the next book about Piper and Alexi, they were both fun side characters in this book.

The FMC got on my whole entire nerve. She got off way too easy and she was insufferable. She gives “I’m sorry, but”

Loved the boys but the plot lost me with the miscommunication that WAS ON HER and then she made them work for forgiveness? Nah.

This book had so much potential and I was really excited to see omegaverse mixed with my favorite sports romance. Unfortunately, this did not work for me and it was mostly due to the structure of the story.

I love angsty romance so I found it really disappointing that instead of taking the time to build the connection with these characters and work on the development within the pack, there were so many time jumps in the story. It felt like it was skipping all the parts that would make me feel something about this relationship.

There were a lot of missed opportunities for some real angst in this one and some deep-dives into the feels. The entire story felt rushed to the cuteness and spice even though it touched on serious topics such as fear of abandonment, depression, and grief. It just all felt very surface-level and I was hoping for something more.

I do plan to read Sarah’s books in the future because I do love a lot of her omegaverse stories. Sometimes, I just wish they gave me a little bit more of the feels.

Thank you to the author for sending me this ARC for an honest review.

I was really excited to read this book, and picked up One Pucked Up Pack immediately upon its release.

I’ll be honest and admit I was more than a little disappointed.

This book is cute, for sure. That much I can definitely and comfortably say. It’s overall a very sweet story and a cute read.

But, there was a lot in this book that just didn’t work for me.

1. Our main characters are scent matches. Luv that for them, and for me as the reader tbh. BUT, just because they’re biologically meant to be together, doesn’t mean I don’t want to see actual relationship development. I felt that we were really lacking in that department. What is it about these characters that has them fall for each other? Other than their scents? It’s really not clear because we don’t have a lot of insight into them as characters, and then them as couples.

2. The first half of this book is them getting together and the second half is them coming together again after a split. I feel like neither side is well developed enough, and would probably have been more successful had it been split into two books. We’d have a deeper connection to the characters and more story over this long timeline.

3. Our FMC’s trauma is sort of a point of contention for me, and that’s for two main reasons.
a.) the first reason is that we don’t really see our FMC having detailed conversations about what happened that night with the guys, and we don’t see detailed conversations about her depression afterwards. This means we sort of know what’s happened. We know that the guys know what happened. But we don’t get to see them understand how badly they hurt her and why, and we don’t get to see our FMC deal with them.
b.) the second reason is that, like I mentioned, we know our FMC went into a major depression due to a combination of the medication, the traumatic way she lost her mother, and the grief over losing her pack. But we don’t see that. We see her lose her mom and pack, and then we see her months later after she runs into her pack again and is off the suppressants. But we’re literally missing MONTHS of her pain and grief, and therefore we’re missing her growth and seeing her overcome so much of what’s made her life hell.

Anyway, this book would get less than 3⭐️ if it wasn’t cute. But it was, and I didn’t hate it. I just think it could have been a lot better.

This was my first Sarah Blue book. IDK what I was expecting when I started this book, but it was nothing like what I read. And I am not even mad about it. I loved it.

Charlotte is a sweet omega with lots of abandonment issues and problems to fit in. She found herself basically alone, with just her mom, her best friend, and her lovely, gigantic dog. While in her hometown during winter break, she was hit by destiny and met her three scent matches, scent matches are very rare and cherished.

Eli, Anders, and Mikael are alphas, best friends, hockey players, and teammates. They all had different upbringings, making them envision the pack life and their future differently. Eli is a leader and very much pragmatic. He was raised with money and with little to nothing knowledge about Alpha/Omega dynamics or pack life. Anders on the other hand, was born within a loving pack in Finland, and he's the one who knows best about the dynamic. Anders is the most caring and sensitive over Charlie. And we got Mikael, our favorite hotheaded, French Canadian, asshole. For him, the hockey career means a lot more than it does to Eli and Anders, and that can be a problem.

It was a fun, easy read despite the absolutely bonkers and traumatic events that they all went through. Lots of really sweet moments. Lots of really hot ones.

I loved each of the characters so much, Mikael really knew how to piss me off. He is still my favorite Alpha though. Also, I am a sucker for terms of endearment in other languages and the ones from Anders and Mikael were so freaking swoony. I loved Piper and I am so excited for her book!

This is a sweet omegaverse book (I don't, personally, do well with the dark ones), and it was mostly a really great read. I had a hard time putting it down, and stayed up waaaaaaay too late last night.

The only thing that I struggled with is Mikael. Look, most reverse harems have that one guy who is a jackass. That's Mikael. And I've gotta say, he was right on the edge of needing castration, imo. Not because of assault or anything - again, sweet omegaverse - but because he was just such a self-absorbed dickhead. I think we needed more of his backstory, his home life, to really accept what a complete bag of shit he was being, honestly.

But I liked how Charlotte handled him, with the journal. I liked it a lot. So it worked out for me.
