The Sword of Sorenth: The Jewels of Fate Series
Chuck is torn between two worlds. It’s been four months since returning from Acanesia, and he desperately wants to go back to where he belongs. But when Chuck runs into an ordinary New Yorker with some strange powers, he realizes the war has moved to his hometown now, and it’s not just Acanesia in trouble anymore.

Kimi joins the castle guards to learn what it takes to be a warrior but discovers it’s much more than how well you can fight. Kimi questions whether she’s strong enough to protect the royal family, and an ancient monster is about to put that theory to the test.
As these teenagers come across friends and enemies – both old and new – Chuck, Caylene, Kimi, Ryan, and Daqua must find a way to stop a deadly creature, even if they’re miles apart!

Once I got started, I didn't want to put this book down! From the first chapter, the words whisked me into the adventure.
It was fun to revisit familiar characters from the first book, Jewels of Fate, and I also enjoyed getting to know new characters and could feel the tension between some of them.
Instead of working together as in the first book, this adventure disperses the characters into different missions. It fascinated me to watch Chuck navigate a world of magic going awry back home in New York City, and I loved travelling to remote regions of Acanesia with some of the others. With twists and turns and not knowing who to trust, this story kept me guessing till the end.
