Lara has a crush and Reggie is old enough to be her father, so he denies her advances. They both have something inside themselves that they try to hide from the other, but are they that dissimilar?
This story twists and turns, it’s very dark so please check triggers but if you think you can handle it, enjoy the depravity. I never knew I liked it dark until Emmaleigh’s writing came into my life.

What can I say... I am OBSESSED with Emmeleigh Loader and her characters and worlds that she writes! :)
In this book, we follow the absolutely psycho (in a good way) Lara, Her father Dom is the head of the Wyelli family, and she is his only daughter. But what happens when she has a crush on her fathers best friend?
Reggie, however, denies her advances. Well, that is until she is 18, and something in him shifts, and all he wants is for her to be his and for her to be safe. But she has other plans. Plans that involve her seat at the table with her father and brothers.
This book does have some triggers, so please head those warnings, and when I say that she is psycho, I mean it, haha, but then again, darkness calls to darkness when it comes to Lara and Reggie.
And their darkness has always called to each other. But don't worry, she makes Reggie work to be worthy of her after he broke her heart.
The twists and turns in this book are fantastic, and I didn't want to book to end. I kept looking at how many pages I had left, and I was dreading getting to the end. I am not normally into an age gap romance, but I found this one to be written so very well that it wasn't creepy!
I can not wait to see what else this author writes, and I am certainly a big fan! :)

Heed the trigger warnings if you are squeamish!
This book is all the dark and deprived…blood, murder, torture, dad’s best friend, legal age-gap…It’s a doozy but I’m here for it! I was sucked in from the beginning and couldn’t put it down. Emmaleigh soars with amazing detail and a great plot. I’m craving another book with Reggie and Lara!

I am completely in love and obsessed with this story! I was hooked on the moment I started it. I felt like I was actually in the story along with Reggie and Lara. I could not get enough of them because they were just EVERYTHING.

This story is about Reggie and Lara. Lara has had a crush on her dad's best friend ever sinc she was younger. She has always followed him around because she wanted his attention. One night she snunk out of her room and was trying to go down into the dungeon that they had in the basement they had for the guys they took "care of". Before she could even get down there Reggie was there collaring her and pushing her against the wall. One night pushed her over the edge to become the darkness that was inside her. I love how Lara stood her ground and the push and pull between them was just everything.
Ever since the night that Reggie told Lara that he had not feelings when he kissed her. It broke him inside, he could not get what he said to her out of his head. He wanted her ever since she turned 18 because ever since she grew up he did not look at her the same. When Reggie finally told her how he felt and that he would stop at nothing to get her to forgive him. My mouth dropped to the floor when he announced it when he was in front of her father and her brothers.
Holy shit the push and pull between Reggie and Lara was everything. I could not get enough of it because it was just so hot. The spicy scenes were chef's kiss and I never wanted them to end. The spicy scenes were so dark and twisted and that's what made me love them even more. The way Reggie proved to Lara that he actually would do anything no matter what it was to prove to Lara he loved her.

I received an ARC of this book and holy wow. It’s good. A dark mafia Forbidden/Dad’s best friend romance which tons of gore. I love that the h is just as psychotic and violent as the H if not more so. She compares herself Harley Quinn a few times and I have to agree.

Out of the thousands of books I’ve read, this is 1 of 2 I had to return. And I didn’t even feel bad.
Yeah, a DNF.
The prologue was good. I love a dark and strong h. I love them a little twisted.
But 12% I was done.
Every sentence was so dramatic trying to convince me she was so bad*ss. Everyone was overly macho. It was like the guy at work that is overcompensating for everything that talks a lot but doesn’t actually do much. I felt like this was too much tell.

I enjoyed their journey a lot and felt it was well written and interesting. I did wish for a few more spicy scenes, but what we got was sexy and the book overall was very good.

Yo!!! This book is fire. It's dark, but not in the bully way dark. It's mafia dark in all the right ways. Usually with books like this the daughter is a tool to be used for gains. Tossed to the side, broken, and abused, sold to make connections. Not with this family of psychos. I absolutely loved the whole Wyelli family. The way they loved and cared for each as a family is something I'd love to see in other mafia stories. It was a super nice change to have the fmc be as strong, and accepting of the family empire as she was. Willing to get her hands dirty to prove she deserved a seat amongst the men, a very worthy equal, someone to be feared and revered. It was also nice change to have a leader, her father Dom, who didn't sit back and not get in on the action. Lara has 3 brothers who adore her, and her father's right hand man, Reggie. This was an amazing mafia, age gap romance story. Plus if you love a good psychotic character, you will find you fill with this whole family.

Lara is a deranged, violent, bada$$ b, and I loved it. This is a dark mafia book, and this princess is not only crazy, but she is lethal! Lara flies off the handle quickly, but she will do anything to protect her family. She bows to no man, not even the older and forbidden man who breaks her heart. Her love is something that must be earned.
I thought the way he ended her games was hot, but that pool scene! That will live in my head rent free from a long time! Even the violence and how she reacts to her darker side was written so well it was hard not to be turned on. This book has so many great tropes including: mafia, second chance, blood and knife play, age gap (dads best friend), enemies to lovers, and a possessive alphahole MMC. Do yourself a favor and pick this book up! Check your tw first!

As expected with any books by this totally brilliant woman it’s not filled with hearts and flowers. Well it has hearts just the real ones along with other body parts on full view. It’s a tale that is deliciously dark and twisted. Definitely not for the faint of heart! The dynamic between Lara and Bones (Reggie) is mind blowing and is definitely not normal. Twisted is one way to describe it. She knows exactly what and who she wants regardless of the consequences. He is only successful in upsetting her so much she gets even more psycho. Someone really should have warned him about the saying “ A woman scorned “ I loved this book so much I read it in one go. Found myself unable to put it down.

Dark Mafia romance
Action packed and very spicy.
OK so things I liked - I was really down for the darkness and the explicit dark/kinky sex content. The spotify playlist to go alongside this is excellent and I'm still listening to it weeks later.
My problem with this is just that the writing style is not for me at all. It's over poetic and wordy in its narration and dialogue, making it very unbelievable for me, particularly when multiple different characters (including mafia men) are just waxing lyrical all the time. However, if this is the type of thing you like, than you'll probably still very much enjoy it.

Lara is the daughter of the crime boss of Wyelli empire and has had a crush on Reggie, her father's right hand man and best friend, for ages. Their romance is forbidden, and as much as he tries to avoid it, some things you just can get away from.
Once again, Emmaleigh Loader has written another phenomenal book. I'm always blown away with her writing and the stories that she puts out. She has the perfect amount of steam, plot, drama and violence to make a well balanced story. I love Lara and Reggie and their romance is very high steam (which I have no complaints on).

Honestly this age gap dark romance really hits the spot. I was holding my breath, chuckling, being scared, cried and generally felt every emotion possible.
Music playlists is absolutely amazing and so relevant to each chapter (no you don’t have to listen to it while reading, if that’s not something you can do).
Definitely recommend ❤️

Reggie’s character develops well as the plot progress as does her brother and dad. This is a fast paced read so be prepared for a amazing journey.

The Last Time You Break Me by is a hell of a ride. Reggie is Lara’s Dad’s BFF and they are m@fia. He’s way older, they are both a little unhinged, he’s JP and way OTT, she’s a badass who likes to pew pew and unalive and loves some🩸. And the mouth on that man. 🥵🔥What could possibly go wrong? All the right kinds of hot, bad, and dirty. TLTYBM was scorching, deranged and all sorts of entertaining packed into a plot-filled story that I could not put down. EmmaLeigh brings the action and the heat to everything she writes and this is no exception.

I wanted to like this more. 2 psychopaths, an age gap and dad's best friend should have gotten a solid 5 stars. This book probably should have been a little longer, details were tossed into the story randomly and it made the book seem rushed. Lara's personality made this book a lot of fun. I honestly would have liked a little more spice. What can I say? sex in the blood of enemies is hot...

I absolutely devoured this book. Emmaleigh took a mafia age gap story and made it her own. Made it crazy, bloody and psycho 😏. You have to work for and earn what you want in life, even love. Damn Reg and Lara’s crazy story is the true definition of dark romance.

Good age-gap dark romance. It’s really dark and bloody. Heed the warnings if that’s not your thing. Otherwise, this was a good entertaining read. Watch out for the psychos, they really know how to play.

This book is a dark mafia romance/dad's best friend with some gore, so if you're squeamish about blood, this book might not be for you. This book jumps right into the action in the beginning and doesn't let go until the end. This book was so good and I can't wait to read more.

Insanely wicked and dark story that will take you on one helluva ride of your life. Reggie and Lara's story will have chills running up and down your spine and damn if I didn't love every page of it.
