Anisphia becomes the ruler of Palettia, but her fight with her younger brother, Algard, has caused all sorts of problems. Watching Anisphia slowly become more and more exhausted, Euphyllia finally decides to step in. But that is the last thing Anisphia wants, and she refuses to give up. The reincarnated princess and the genius young lady now have to face each other for their future together.
The main reason it wasn't perfect for me was the amount of repetition. It feels like there were long stretches, especially at the beginning, where they just repeated what happened with previous events. There were also a few times where the author repeated what happened just a few pages before.
That being said, I was completely taken by surprise by the amount of emotion that this story evoked from me, which led me to ugly crying during the entire middle section of the book.
I think that this book concluded in such a nice way, too. I'm really looking forward to the fourth volume, but I also don't feel like I'm completely left hanging, either.
With her brother out of the picture, Anis has to step up as the heir apparent, but it is slowly killing her. Euphie realizes Anis is keeping up appearances and decides that only a big action is going to save both Anis and the kingdom.
Personally I like the style of storytelling, and the personalities of the characters involved. It is certainly not the traditional isekai power fantasy or JRPG setting, even if the magic and world are relatively straightforward and not particularly original. Much like volume 2, things can get overly melodramatic at times. I sincerely doubt people in RL can hold such well reasoned debates in the middle of emotional outbursts in which people come to literal blows. Still, I don't overly mind, and as far as romance go, it is not often one sees progress in light novels to this extent, or where both sides of the couple are on equal standing and equally important to the story.
So yeah, I am sure the series is not for everybody, but I am thoroughly enjoying it.

I wasn't a fan of the 33-page rehashing of all of the political exposition thus far in the very beginning, so it was a huge sigh of relief when the conversation abruptly got interrupted and the story moved on from there. During that conversation, a lot of information was repeated and it seemed like the characters were talking in circles, but there were enough scattered tidbits of new information that it isn't feasible to just skip.
That aside, everything that followed had me either on the edge of my seat, crying, or some combination of the two. The continuous hype that was presented here is going to be a hard act to follow, so I'm really excited to see what happens in the next volume.
So it looks like LN 3 is where we start to see a bit of divergence from the anime. I had to do a double take when Anis ran into Tomas after she found out about Euphie wanting to enter a spirit covenant. In the anime, she ran into Tilty. Other than that, the dialogue and progression of the story remained almost verbatim.
I’m rating this LN 3 stars only because there was quite a bit of repetition and more confusing descriptions of spirits and spirit covenants. Otherwise, I’m excited to finally explore Anis and Euphie’s relationship beyond where the anime explored.

[ #7 • #52B00K ] Not pleased to say I cried a lot with this one lol. A wonderful ending for the story, well earned five star. Both Anis and Euphie build the backbone they desperately needed, and the insight for both of them, specially for Anis’s take on what being a princess “gifted” with the position to try and change something is something I particularly related to, and made it really emotional to see someone reaching out to help her instead of the other way around. A wonderful protagonist, and a very nice end of the story so far.
actually has some backbone and is willing to explore the problems caused by a heteronormative, patriarchal society (its anime adaptation is also pretty good at this)
