After thwarting a nascent rebellion and restoring peace to the eastern capital, Allen prepares for some long-overdue rest. His students have returned to their respective homes, leaving the convalescent tutor in his family’s care...but the lazy days of summer are only the calm before the storm. Sinister forces are at work in the east, and they threaten to shake the kingdom to its very core. Shadowy conspiracy erupts into open war, separating Allen from his powerful companions and—worse yet—his trusty partner Lydia. The young sorcerer must turn to his fiercely protective sister Caren, his friend Richard, and a small band of knights in a battle for all he holds dear. But how much can so few accomplish against an army of unexpected foes wielding mysterious and devastating magic?
Last time, Alan and the others defeated Prince Gerald once again. However, this time, Alan suffered severe injuries. Because of that, Alan rested at his hometown while Tina and Lydia went back to their homes respectively. So, Alan and the others leisurely rested for a whole week. Alan and Karen enjoyed the festival together. Tina, Stella, and Eli went shopping in town. Lydia and Rine rested at their household. While everyone did different things, they all enjoyed their individual hobbies during this time. It really might have been for the best if the peace lasted forever. However, unfortunately, war is about to begin. And the battlefield is at Alan's hometown. As a result, Alan and Richard desperately tried to suppress their enemies, but what will happen in the end? Then, to save Alan, what will his students and friends do? In the end, only the wheel of fate knows the answers to these questions.
The book was very wonderful! The first half is their daily lives. There, the author introduced everyone's family and maids respectively. Of course, the dialogue and events were all very interesting. For example, there was a flashback of Alan and Karen's past, which made it clear why they are close together. Tina and Stella's shopping date emphasized their close sister bonds. In the Rinstar scene, it showed that the family and the maids share a warm relationship together. Each event was very unique and fun. However, it completed turned on its head with the latter half of the story. When the war began, Alan helped the citizens evacuate. There, the fight scenes were extremely fierce. Even though it was words only, I could clearly imagine the war in my head. Thanks to that, I was so moved, that I even cried a little bit. As a result, I'm really looking forward to the next development!
Ahhhh what an ending and with this book just being released the next one won't be out for ages!!!! Wow I 😭 during those last chapters because crap just hit the fan and Allen will do all his power/ beyond for his loved one's, friend's, people, innocents, etc. Ugh the council was a deep disappointment. 😭😭😭😭 Need the next book!!!!
I honestly can't believe how good the cliffhanger is. This volume has so much emotion. Too many great details of the past. Allen being named after the great hero. The betrayal of one of the Four Ducal houses.
Reading the volume, I didn't care for the order of the chapters. But after finishing the book and reading the author's afterward, it probably was the best order given the overall course of the series.
The ending however was really well written I think, and worth sticking with the series up until this point. Though I am concerned that it will take a few more volumes for the author to resolve the cliffhanger ending of the volume.
