It took me a bit to get into the story because Omar must be the most accepting and patient character I have ever read about. (Time travel's a thing? Sure! I don't need any proof to believe you.) But once his mission commenced I was pleasantly dragged into his story and laughed and cried along with him. I also appreciated the societal analyses throughout the story that not only enlightened the atmosphere of the book, but also paralleled with the mindset and destiny of the characters. At times I wished for more showing over telling, but that is more of a personal preference. As is the wish for a slightly different ending, haha In some ways this book reminded me of the Prince of Persia (movie). If you enjoy survivalist time travel tales, with extremely capable MCs and a bleak reimagined what if future resulting from present day social, heath and political dilemmas, then look no further. This is the book for you!
A book with multiple themes and genres is here for you. “309 Years Later” by Tarik Bouchanyaf is consistent with dystopia, time traveling, all fiction of course. The first chapter of the book talks about the pros and cons of technology and it is utterly beautiful to see how the author keeps on the point throughout the story. The story is of Omar, a gifted brain. He is selected for her dream job. He is to calculate logistically the population count of the planet three hundred years from now. Happily jumping up and down on the offer Omar had no idea what he was thinking of being a dream come true was going to become the weirdest and most dangerous cause that he will ever take upon himself. The story unfolds in the most unexpected ways. It will take Omar to a completely different world, he is faced with a dystopian world where his life is in danger. Will he be able to save himself?
260 pages long, this book is completely out of the world. I am a fan of the author and to be honest it is one of the best thrillers that I have come across this year. Reading this book was one heck of a ride and was worth every second. The writing style is fast, clear, easy, and engaging. I would rate it complete five stars. The characters, dialogue delivery, plot implementation, the actualization of facts from real life, and properly expressed emotions make this book a ‘must-have’. I found the character of Omar brave and challenging. The reader can see him courageously fight the circumstances. His character will leave a positive impact on you.
This book is perfect for thriller lovers and beginners because of its medium length and easy language. The plot will keep them on their feet and will be entertaining beyond expectations. Happy reading!
One of my favorite for 2022 ! I had the chance to read "309 years later" even Im not a big fan of dystopian fiction (Im more into Autobiography) but..this changed my mind completly. Once you start the book (specifically after chapter 1 and 2) you want to discover what will happen in the next chapter. You live with 'Omar' like a friend or e relative and you want him to survive and succeed! I loved the Moroccan touch in the book which reminds me some of my favorite food and places. Going through the chapters makes feel you are watching a movie that you don't want it to finish ! The author did great in describing scenes and you start imagine and build pictures of personalities . This is a great book and wonderful discovery for me. Waiting for more from the author! Thank you for this masterpiece!
I feel very honored and proud to be the first one who read his book that I loved so much. The events are very exciting and catched my attention from the first paragraph. The book talks about Omar who is a young physician living in Casablanca and lost between his spiritual beliefs and what he thinks is logical and fair in his life. Omar was lucky to participate in an experiment to travel by time or more precisely to get back to future 309 years forward. A bit confusing but very interesting to know that the future is a long past 😊
This book was unique and intriguing. Omar struggles with finding his place in this world. When he is recruited to travel through time to save the world, he discovers his true purpose in more ways than he can imagine. I highly recommend this book to scifi, and even fantasy, enthusiasts.
Great first novel from Tarik! The storyline is really thrilling and it lays a great foundation for more books in this series.
What I missed (imo) were passages describing the scenery around the characters. If this is added into a next book, I’m sure Tarik will hit a home run 😇
H.G Wells’ The Time Machine updated for the 21st century. However, the writing was poor and the author could have done a much better job narrating the story.
I truly loved the book! Omar’s character is a perfect example of going from zero to hero. The way the events unfold throughout the book is just mesmerizing. The author successfully described what most of youth feel and go through, especially when they have ambitions and aspirations. I could relate a lot to what Omar was feeling, not only because I am Moroccan too, but also because we’re both the exact same age — 27! There are many life lessons inked in this book about leadership, family and values. My favourite one is that when you’re kind enough to do the right thing, the future’s got your back — literally! Highly recommend this great book.
Book review: the story had me in all kinds of feelings, more than 5 stars! Out of everybody in the whole world Omar is the only human that can be transported 309 years into the further future in a village called Ariha, to see if humanity can still survive Even though he's never been there, he seems a part of them from the very beginning. He is challenged physically and mentally but he's smarter and stronger than anyone in the future has ever seen. His mind and his love wins the hearts of so many people , which help him to decide what life he wants to stay in and enjoy it as it should be. This had surprising twist and turns I didn't see coming and bought happy tears to my eyes!

I got the chance to read “309 years later”, and it is one of the best novels i’ve ever read. I like how the author is direct , he goes straight to the point, I love even more the twists in the story. The way it’s written makes it feel like you are watching a movie! I can totally see it as one someday! Love how the light was shed about overpopulation, slavery and the use of power. I absolutely recommend this masterpiece!
A captivating and fascinating story with plenty of suspense and emotions. It's a dystopia, but deeply real. The author confronts the reader with several dilemmas and existential questions and lets him draw the conclusions.
Not sure what the age rating was on this. I found it a tad childlike, aimed at maybe 14-16yo? Not sure. But was certainly readable, and I finished it!!
