She has held onto her dream and decides now is the perfect time to go for it. Newly divorced and determined to have her dream come to life. She applies to her dream school and sets the goal to write her very first novel. The only dilemma is the familiar face that is now her college professor. This potential love interest has ignited a long history of feelings slowly starting to surface. Can she still pursue her dream while also getting sidetracked by love?
Definitely 3.5! A student and professor romance? Woah woah. I loved how he was her teacher in hs then college .. this is so full of a great story line and characters!
Allison and her college professor embark on a journey of confusion, doubts, and lust all to find love. Will they end up happily ever after or will doubts get between them? I really enjoyed this book because while things worked out it gives us a sense of reality. Rarely does love always end perfectly. I especially enjoyed that Allison pursued her dreams to become a full time author. I liked that we heard some of her thought but not too many. There is definitely a few sex scenes but it only added to the story. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a happily ever after story.
WOW, I was not prepared for the level of depth and emotion I was about to experience.
I felt like this book had two halves. Before Dex and after Dex. I actually had my heartbroken in the entire first half of the book. The flashbacks of Dex were sparing, and left me hooked and wanting more. But the ones of Andrew were so deep and beautiful at times I was rooting for them… until I wasn’t. God he went from the most perfect man, to someone you could never trust again. And that broke my heart after seeing the way he once was. I felt like Allison’s memories of him were my own, so it hurt. But then we meet Dex in real time about half way into the book and wow. I immediately understood the book’s namesake, because HE was the reason for nothing else working out before hand. Dex was it. He was everything. I was fucking obsessed with him. In fact, I wrote that in my kindle notes over and over. And the final bonus epilogue from his POV? Favourite part of the entire book hands down. Ugh, he’s my favourite book man now, I swear! And okay, the spice in this book was fucking fantastic! It was the perfect level. It didn’t take away from the plot but it was so well worked into. The difference between the two men.. ooft! Andrew was hot, but Dex… soulmate shit 🔥👏🏼
An inspiring blend of romance and personal growth. This story pulled me in from the very first chapter. Allison’s journey from self-doubt to self-belief is powerful and relatable. The romance is slow-burning, emotional, and filled with tension in all the right ways. I couldn’t put it down.
The storyline was good. A student hopelessly in love with her teacher, who then gets to meet him again years later & finally fall madly in love. Who wouldn’t love that.
The thing keeping me from rating this as a 4 star is the writing. There was a ridiculous overuse of exclamation points and a lot of typos and spelling errors. Additionally there were some discrepancies in the storyline that just made it hard to get past.
I do think with a little more editing the book would be perfect.
I really liked the plot and I’m always a fan of flashback scenes (I know that isn’t always everyone’s cup of tea). The spicy scenes were good, especially the dreams.
I think overall, it needs a little more fine tuning. It was very repetitive, I noticed some spelling and grammatical errors and a few inconsistencies as well.

My lanta! After reading the prologue, I was sucked in. I never had a hot teacher to fantasize about, so reading this story put in a different spin for me. ohhh, her dreams were 🔥🔥🌶🌶 I would have loved to have more of Dexter's point of view, and I'm glad Ally was able to finally put herself first and go after her dreams, of not just becoming a writer but for going after the man she's always known was her soulmate!!

I read this book as an ARC and am so grateful! But… this book gets 2.5 stars from me because it was incredibly difficult for me to get through. What should have taken me maybe a day took me 2 weeks to read. The punctuation drove me insane and the book was repetitive from start to end. The book had great spice and still has the potential to be amazing if the writing is adjusted and corrected. I know the author is just starting out and I would love to remain a part of the ARC team to see how the author continues to grow through her writing.
Allison Pierce has divorced her cheating husband and now she’s doing what she’s wanted since highschool, become a published writer. So she’s headed back to school in Baltimore to get her masters degree. Hoping to also see the one person who has always believed in her, her dreamy English teacher from twelfth grade Dexter “Dex” Laclaire. He has fallen off the grid, even after all the times she’s looked him up on social media..
Now Allison has left her New York life and is moved into her apartment before school starts. She knows the names of all her teachers, except one it’s still listed TBD. Until she shows up the class of the mysterious teacher and hears his voice…. Can it be true?
Is Allison’s fantasies finally going to come true? What about the code of professors and students dating? & Will she publish her book?
📚 Student x Teacher Romance 📚 Second Chance 📚 Age Gap 📚 Secretly Dating 📚 Forced Proximity 📚 1st Book in Series 📚 Single POV
This was my first Alycia Carosella book & im hooked the spice was so gooood. The flash backs & fantasies had me on the edge of my seat, I LOVED it!! I’m so excited to meet her in September @ Authors in the Steel City & keep reading the series 🤩
Looking for a book with Hallmark vibes but with spice? Also with a teacher and student romance, than this is it! I loved this book. While it is a steamy romance book there is also an amazing plot. The FMC Allison is going through some major life changes. After dropping out of law school and getting a divorce Allison decides to follow some of her own dreams. Yes some of those dreams may include a sexy teacher. The story deals a lot with following your dreams verses doing what is expected of you. Throughout the story you learn about Allisons past through her memories. I love how natural the memories that shaped Allison life where added into the story line. This allows you to experience the emotions with Allison instead of them just being background information. While the relationship between Allison and Dexter moves along a little fast it still feels natural because of the established past they have. My favorite relationships in books are always ones where the couple have a deeper understanding of each other, this book definitely has this. Plus they have amazing chemistry. Overall Reason by Alycia Carosella is a great book that I recommend to all the romance book lovers out there.
I loved the overall message of this story. Sometimes when you "have it all" you are still not truly happy.
This story takes you through Allison's life. From her desires to be a writer. To her putting herself aside to please her parents. For settling on a relationship she thought made sense. Through her miscarriage, cheating, and divorce. Then finally choosing herself and going after what she wants. Then watching her truest desire manifest in front of her.
This book is so real and will resonate with so many people. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because I felt like the book started off really choppy and repetitive. Some of the flashbacks I felt were thrown in abruptly. About 40% in though I felt like the writing most definitely smoothed out and I loved the progression of it. I can't wait to read the next in series to see how Alycia's writing progresses!
This is a cute teacher/student forbidden romance. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the flashbacks although they obviously were needed in the story, the way they were put into the chapters though was at times confusing. The last chapter I was mildly frustrated as the entire story built up to the ending and it felt like it was crammed and didn’t flow the rest of the story did. But the bonus chapter kind of made up for it because getting a tease of Dex’s perspective is amazing! It’s everything you predicted, but gives you the feels since it comes from his character’s POV. Overall I really liked this book, just personal preference on the flashbacks and quick ending. Although, technically you shouldn’t want to end, so that also somewhat puts it on the plus category as well (:
This felt like it was written by a young teenager on Wattpad which made it incredibly difficult to get through.
The editing drove me insane (capital letters in the middle of the sentence, spelling mistakes, etc).
The terminology used felt immature (Niagara Falls? Really?)
The fact that I got half way through before anything actually happened was incredibly disappointing and laborious.
The “drama” of Dexter not telling Ally about them being allowed to be together felt forced.
The story line could be brilliant; teacher and student fell in love but couldn’t be together. Met 7 years later and picked up where they left off. But instead it just felt bland and washed out.

“It’s crazy to look back on my life and how much can change in such a short amount of time when you surround yourself with people who support your dreams”
I hate to say that this book was not a favorite of mine. It took me a couple of months to get through it. The beginning was very slow and then the middle was VERY fast. I felt like I missed a lot of events or details. It felt rushed and very repetitive.
I did enjoy the flashbacks in the beginning of the story. I just don't know. I felt like she was going to get back with her ex the whole time. I thought the relationship with Dex was a little immature and really something Ally was NOT ready for… yet.
I will be honest I wasn't a huge fan of the beginning of this work. I'm usually a trooper and power through though, and eventually after about 2/3rds the content I did begin to enjoy it. A few grammatical errors were missed in editing. It was a little more p*rn than plot in my opinion but I did find myself ultimately content with the conclusion.
I feel like there was a lot of grooming behavior due to him being her high school teacher, that was sort of an "ick" for me. But the college romance portion was nice, and they had good chemistry throughout the story. We all love a nice cinnamon bun man who is obsessed with his lady.
A cute spicy read, I've seen someone review her book as a spicy Hallmark and I totally agree, it's got the perfect vibe with heat.
Allison has everything she could ever want or so she thinks, when life turns upside down and everything that could go wrong does but she is strong and finds stable ground. Her loving friends are there to help along with the one person she thought she would never see again, as she juggles school and works and hopes the love she has for the one who holds her heart is returned and never stomped on.
The story line seemed really promising but I was immediately turned off when it was a high school student and a teacher but realizing that was a fantasy made it seem a little better. The plot was a good one and the troupes were spot on I just felt like the story needed some more development.
This book also needed a pretty decent grammar check, which almost caused me to DNF.
I’d like to read the second book from this author though I feel like there’s a lot of potential in her stories.

I was sent this arc and then underwent a semi major surgery and begun working 10 hour days 7 days a week and have found little time to read but what I have read was intriguing, the first chapter alone had my jaw unhinged. I cannot wait to find the time to finish this book but I am already going to give it a 4 star review.
I absolutely loved this romance! It was so cute and made my heart happy. For a person that believes “everything happens for a reason” it was nice seeing it play out in a book! This is one I definitely would recommend a very cute, steamy 🌶️ love story that makes your heart happy!
It was a super nice book, and I loved it so much. I just couldn't do all the constant flashbacks in the beginning it was almost every page. It was a very catchy story and I will definitely recommend it.
i give it a solid 4.5. i really enjoyed this book! there was some grammatical errors, but those were easy to look past. i wish the ending had a little more detail, but other than that, it was really good! also, i hate andrew 😂
This was my first book by this author. She did a wonderful job. The ending was by far my favorite along with the bonus scene. This book has lots of spicy scenes in it.
Definitely three stars! A student and professor romance? sure, why not? I didn't expect this at all. I loved how he was her teacher in hs then college .. this is so full of a great storyline and characters! I think it is too repetitive, but overall, everything is good! I do enjoy it
LOVED THIS BOOK! I read it as an arc reader and it is one of my favorites this year. If you like second chance and/or teacher student romance you will love this book!
Absolutely loved it and the couple!! I always love a good couple that you root for, read it cover to cover and can’t wait for the next book!! Definitely worth the read!💕
