Bundilla Novels #3

Snowy Mountains Promise

Rate this book
A town scandal. A kelpie chaperone. A winter ball. The bush telegraph has never had so much to talk about...

A delightfully charming rural story about love and healing from bestselling Australian author Alissa Callen.

Hettie Burbrook is the first to admit she's happiest when flying solo through the outback skies. After her hobby of photographing farmers lands her a book deal, it provides the ideal cover story to visit small-town Bundilla. But every photograph brings her closer to uncovering the answers behind why she is really in the mountains...

Deer farmer Taite Lancaster is as strong as the tempered steel he welds into lifelike animal sculptures. Unlike his father, he will never allow feelings to break him. But when the old school friend of his twin sister lands on the airstrip of their high-country station, he knows he's in trouble. Hettie is the one woman he can't forget.

While determined to keep to themselves, between dog races, a ute muster and a winter ball, Hettie and Taite are forced to face how much they need each other. And when a long-buried scandal erupts into the present, relationships and lives are threatened.

Can a man who locks away his emotions reveal his vulnerability before the mountain snow melts? And can a woman intent on righting a decades-old tragedy listen to her heart before history repeats itself?

Hettie Burbrook is an introvert, she flies her own light plane, she takes amazing photos, and she’s just been offered a deal for her pictures to be published in a coffee table book. She decides to visit her best friend from boarding school Brenna Lancaster, she lives in the Snowy Mountains and near a little town called Bundilla. The iconic countryside and landscape is breath taking and perfect place for Hettie to take rustic photos. Hettie has another reason for visiting Bundilla, she wants to solve a fifty year old mystery and possible crime.

Taite Lancaster is Brenna’s twin brother, the grumpy deer farmer is also a talented artist. Taite uses scrap metal and a welder and he creates incredible animal sculptures. Taite sees showing his feelings and emotions as a weakness, he’s one of Bundilla’s last available bachelors and he's happy being single. Hettie has had a crush on Taite for years, she assumes he’s not interested in her and maybe she’s wrong?

While visiting Glenwood Station, Hettie starts looking for clues into her great-uncle Elliot’s past, she had no idea he grew up in Bundilla and he left town under suspicious circumstances, it doesn’t take long for Hettie to get the message she’s sticking her nose in where it’s not wanted and it could be dangerous.

I received a copy of Snowy Mountains Promise by Alissa Callen from NetGalley and Harlequin Australia in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoyed learning more about Hettie and Taite and both characters have been mentioned in the two previous books in the popular Bundilla series. Hettie and Taite have lost love ones, you can understand why they prefer being on their own, don't like feeling vulnerable and avoid romantic relationships. Bundilla is full of well-meaning match makers, slowly the walls around Hettie and Taite’s hearts start to crumble and it's hard for him to resist her cute combination of red curly hair, fair skin and freckles.

Five stars from me, I devoured Alissa Callen’s latest novel and I like her wonderful descriptive writing style. Fascinating and compelling characters, it's set in the picturesque Australian Snowy Mountains and the narrative is a real page turner by Ms. Callen. I highly recommend reading all three books, Snowy Mountains Daughter, Snowy Mountains Cattleman and Snowy Mountains Promise.

Hettie Burbrook had been devastated at her great-Uncle Elliot's cancer diagnosis and wanted to bring him peace before he died. Heading to the small town of Bundilla in her Cessna and using the cover story of photographs for her new book, Hettie was determined to find the answers for Elliot that he didn't know he needed. Staying with her good friend Brenna in the homestead, with her twin, deer farmer Taite Lancaster nearby in his cottage, Hettie knew once again that her feelings for Taite hadn't changed. But could they work their future out before it was too late?

Hettie's searching, along with Brenna and Taite's help, uncovered long ago events which still hadn't been solved. And when Hettie came too close to resolving the past, danger in the form of revenge, followed her. But would she find the answers for Elliot?

Snowy Mountains Promise is the 3rd in the Bundilla Novels by Aussie author Alissa Callen, and although I was really looking forward to reading this one, I was a little disappointed. With great, endearing characters, Brenna, Hettie and Taite, plus Bundy and Rebel holding stand-out roles, it looked like another 5 star read. But the "on again, off again" "back and forth" relationship angst between the two main characters was overdone in my opinion. I've always enjoyed Ms Callen's writing and look forward to the next in the series. Hopefully the lapse will be in the past. Recommended to fans of Rural Romance.

With thanks to HarperCollins Publishers AU for my uncorrected proof ARC to read in exchange for an honest review.

Unfortunately, this wasn't a hit for me. Dialogue heavy, being told as opposed to a natural unfolding, I was reading soley to see 'what everyone who liked this saw' and somehow thought this may be an interesting ending to a mystery. I wasn't impressed that dialogue between lead character and the token kelpie was used to impart information.

Lots of townsfolk, a touch of name soup, and a watery mystery at best, I heard more about the food the characters were eating than anything else to make this a little meatier. Constant telling of afternoon/morning tea doesn't make for interesting reading for this reader.

There was no substance, and I was left wanting.

I wasn't even sure if the romancey part was any good as this is not my genre, but when the push pull part finally came to fruition, there was not even a love scene. The two main characters were to cool things off because I don't even know why (!), so I'm afraid I didn't even benefit from the romance building.

It looks as though I may not be the target audience for this rural romance, but hopefully I'm fussy and others will embrace it.

I am loving this series, Alissa Callen knows how to pull her readers into the lives of the characters, find their vulnerabilities, their strengths and bring them to life on the pages, to make them friends to the readers, I savour every word in her stories and being back in the beautiful book town of Bundilla with Bundy the dog was fabulous, come along and get to know Taite and Hettie.

Hettie Burbrook is a pilot, chiropractor and a photographer and is happy at this stage, single, she lives in Woodlea but her best friend Brenna lives in Bundilla, her dearest uncle is unwell and Hettie learns a little about his past and is determined to help him and this will mean a trip to visit her friend Brenna, but of course this will bring her close to Taite, someone who holds a special place in her heart.

Taite Lancaster is one of the most eligible bachelors in Bundilla and he steers well clear of matchmakers, he is a deer farmer and fabulous sculptor. With everything that happened to his father Taite will never let his feelings take over, he loves his twin Brenna and has lots of friends but when Hettie arrives in town he knows that she is here for a reason and he will help but will that bring him closer to her and start to break down the walls he has built around his heart?

Bundilla is a busy town in winter, there are the dog races, the ute muster and the upcoming winter ball, a trip in the snow together and the long buried scandal that will put Hettie in danger brings them closer together, can Taite put his vulnerabilities behind him and let his emotions out to find the love that he deserves with Hettie, she truly is the best person for Taite, Hettie has had things to get over from her past as well and now she is ready to love and to share the happiness that they both deserve.

I do highly recommend this book and the series, my visits to Bundilla are always the best this is a beautifully told story and spending time with Bundy, who knows who needs his support is always so good, and catching up with friends from previous books, who will Bundy be with next? I loved this story so very much thank you MS Callen for another keeper.

My thanks Harlequin AU for my copy to read and review.

Snowy Mountains Promise by Aussie author Alissa Callen is the third book in the Bundilla Novels series. I have enjoyed this series although in saying that this book would not be my least favourite in the series, I am still looking forward to seeing what this author writes next.

Snowy Mountains Promise is a sweet rural romance. This is book #3 in the Bundilla series however, I haven't read the first two. I think I would have understood the relationships of the characters of the township more if I had. Hettie returns to the Snowy Mountains to stay at Glenwood Station which belongs to her old friend Brenna and Brenna’s brother, Taite. There is tension and feelings between Hettie and Taite however, things aren’t always straightforward. There’s also a little mystery involving Hettie’s Uncle and a resident of Bundilla, along with some amusing antics by a Kelpie dog named Bundy. Thank you to Better Reading and Harlequin for my preview copy of Alissa Callen’s latest novel. 3.5 stars.

Snowy Mountains Promise by Alissa Callen. (2023).
(A Bundilla novel; #3)

**Thank you to Harlequin Australia for sending me a free copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review; published 1 February 2023**

Hettie is happy flying solo and her hobby of photographing farmers which landed her a book deal means she has the ideal cover story to visit Bundilla. But she's there to discover a secret. Deer farmer Taite is strong and won't allow feelings to break him. But Hettie is the one woman he can't forget. While they're both determined to keep to themselves, they are forced to face how much they need each other. And when a long-buried scandal erupts into the present, relationships and lives are threatened. Can Taite reveal his vulnerability? Can Hettie listen to her heart?

This novel will either be a welcome back or an introduction for readers to the lovely little town of Bundilla which has an infinite amount of matchmakers including the gorgeous doggy Bundy. You can read this as a standalone if you haven't yet read the previous couple of books. It's rural romance at its best with our two leads clearly in love with each other but trying to fight it for their own respective reasons. But the true love story is between two of the older minor characters; I thought that was a bittersweet storyline. Offsetting the romance is an intriguing mystery that has potentially dangerous consequences for those that want to solve the mystery.
Overall: another great Australian rural romance with a bit of drama that will please any fan of that genre.

Snowy Mountains Promise by author Alissa Callen is a slow burn read focussing on multiple characters with divergent story arcs that gel together. Hettie and Tait are likeable personas and Brenna's character is a total stand out. Bundy stole the show at every turn, and Rebel was a notible mention as well. Some tiwsts and turns in the story that, overall, was a slow moving story to reach its conclusion.

I know when I pick up a book by Alissa Callen I am in for a treat and Snowy Mountains Promise was no exception.

I loved being back in the town of Bundilla! Bundy the dog has been shadowing Taite lately and everyone in town knows when Bundy is around change is in the air, and it just so happens Brenna's friend Hettie is also in town. ( For those that haven't read Alissa's books, Bundy is the town's dog he belongs to nobody and everybody. He knows exactly who needs him and is known to do a bit of matchmaking himself).

Taite and Hettie are both introverts and whilst Taite is holding on to deep hurt over his father's death, Hettie is not going to push herself on Taite when he is, obviously, not interested. This makes for a very angsty romance, which isn't usually my thing, but Callen makes it more compelling by adding a crime mystery element and a long held secret that Hettie is determined to uncover.

The books can be read alone but you will get such a thrill when you read them in publication order and characters you've grown to love pop up in subsequent books.
Both the rural setting and characters of Snowy Mountains Promise are delightfully portrayed with everyday snippets of farming and social life along with the matchmaking attempts of the women's quilting club and the humour of the men ribbing each other over this fact.

In Snowy Mountains Promise Alissa Callen picks you up and places you right in the centre of this small-town community enveloping you in the warmth and welcome of her characters.

So far in the Bundilla series, we've had flower farmer Clancy and stonemason Rowan's stories. Now, it's time for the hardened deer farmer Taite to share his.

Taite and his twin Brenna are well known faces due to being featured in previous books. However, Brenna's school friend Hettie is a newcomer. This chiropractor who enjoys flying and photography in her spare time is in town for a visit under the ruse for work. Truthfully, Brenna is seeking answers to a fifty year old mystery involving her dear great-uncle Elliot.

There's shared history between Taite and Hettie. Despite loving each other for years, an accidental kiss some time back caused Taite to block his feelings, effectively friend zoning sweet Hettie. There's little wonder why Hettie spends the majority of the book confused with Taite's mixed signals! She is so patient though as they work together to give Elliot much needed peace, and as Taite slowly pulls down the brick wall between them.

I really adored the star crossed lovers Elliot and Evie. It's absolutely not fair what they went through as teens and will smash your heart. Elliot is dying from kidney cancer so he needs to reacquante with Evie before it's too late. It's not going to be easy though with some trying to stop Hettie in her mission.

Brenna is a real character that's not afraid to tell off her twin when he's being a bit stupid. Hopefully Brenna will find her man to jump on horseback and ride into the sunset with. Please, please PLEASE let our pink obsessed cowgirl get her happy ending next!

It wouldn't be a visit to the Snowy Mountains book town without catching up with our favourite nomad Kelpie, Bundy. How a dog manages to steal every scene, I'm not sure but his presence makes me smile.

Such a heartwarming novel. Thanks Harper Collins Australia for sending me a copy to read and review.

Thank you Harlequin for sending us a copy to read and review.
This is book three in the rural romance with a splash of mystery series, if you enjoyed the other two books then this one is right up your alley and ready to be relished.
Welcome to small town Bundilla.
Where community spirit is on high on the agenda, everyone waves in the street and there’s always help if needed.
Pilot and photographer Hettie Burbrook has arrived to take photos for a book but it’s actually a disguise for the real reason she is here.
Farmer Taite Lancaster loves making his animal sculptures but when his twin sister’s best friend lands on his doorstep, he’s feeling out of sorts, Hettie is someone he hasn’t been able to forget.
Both have decided to stay out of the way of each other but life keeps bringing them together.
When a past wrong-doing makes itself known now, the two band closely to unravel the mysterious history.
It was an absolute delight to return to Bundilla for a reading holiday, I feel like I’m visiting friends and being welcomed back to town.
With great characters, good vibes of friendship, approachable atmosphere, lots of furry friends and a plot that’s hooking and rustic this novel is a winner.
I’m loving the elements of mystery threads through these stories as well.
A heartwarming tale that’s warm, embracing, inspiring and engaging.
I believe Bundilla has more secrets to share, so I look forward to my next trip.

Welcome back to Bundilla, a small town with big secrets.

I really enjoy this series. I moved from the city to a small town some years back, and I tell you, there is no escaping the eyes and ears that see and hear every move you make (I sneezed in my back yard once, and someone the street over called back Bless You lol.)

I liked Hettie and Taite's story, and their quest to solve a 50 year old family mystery. The drama/scandal isn't that bad, but it does take over Hettie's life. She's not good with those pesky things called emotions, but she is great at getting stuck into a mystery.

And let'st not forget the star of the series, Bundy. I smiled every time that pupper was on the page.

It is a real, real slow burn of a story. Even though I liked Hettie and Taite, I think at times I liked the secondary characters more. I looove Brenna and need more of her in the future.

Hettie, a chiropractor, photographer and pilot who services outback New South Wales, has always felt at home in the small, rural town of Bundilla. Over the years, she has regularly flown in to visit lifelong best friend Brenna and her twin brother Taite, and stayed on their family farm.

This time, there is an ulterior motive to her visit. Her beloved great uncle Elliot is in the final stages of his cancer journey and in his sleep, muttered out a desperate plea of forgiveness to a past love. The mystery leads to Bundilla and involves a fire, a suspicious death and a large scale cover up.

As Hettie investigates, she grows ever closer to Taite and wonders if the feelings she has harboured over the years may be reciprocated. The local dog, Bundy, never leaves their side; arousing town superstition that love is blooming.

She's also warned, in increasingly dangerous ways, that someone in town doesn't want the secrets of the past to come to light. Will Hettie solve the mystery and bring Elliot peace? Or will she instead find herself collateral damage?

I was gifted a physical copy of this book by Harlequin Australia and was SO excited when it arrived!
It is the third in the Bundilla Novels series, which follows different members of the Bundilla community as they find love with the help of trusty pup Bundy.
It can be read as a stand alone, but does include the MCs of the last two books and an update on their lives now.

I really enjoyed the mystery aspect and appreciated the twists throughout the book.
It is a closed door romance and focuses on the characters emotional development rather than the physical.
As an Australian myself, I do love an outback romance and author Alissa Callen nailed it!

Thank you again to Harlequin Australia for this free physical book, in exchange for an honest review. I will be following along the rest of the series, which hopefully will see Brenna as the MC in future!!

This was a little hard for me to review - I received a review copy but I have not read the first two in the series (I didn't realise it was part of a series).

However, after reading it I think it can be enjoyed as a stand-alone, though perhaps some people who've read the first two books may feel they gained more from the book than I did as they had more background - I'm not sure.

The book is about characters in the town of Bundilla, an Australian rural area. It involves a rural scandal and a romance. While the romance features heavily in the story, it's not just a romance novel - though it may please romance readers.

The heroine is Hettie and her love interest is Taite who is a country lad of the strong silent type. He's great with working the land and not very good with stuff like feelings. This is a bit of a cliche but I'm sure lots of people will like it. However, one of the downsides of the story is that we hear just a bit too often (and in the same way) how much Taite is the kind of guy who would prefer to be on the land rather than confront his emotions. Yes, I know this goes towards character but we know his character, we don't need to be reminded constantly "He would rather face [insert rural difficulty] than have to [potentially have his emotions laid bare/think about having feelings]".

Taite's bubbly twin sister, Brenna and best friend of Hettie is a nice relief in the story when Hettie and Taite just don't seem to be able to get a hold on how they're really feeling for each other.

The scandal part isn't bad but a little lacking in tension as the author seemed clearly more interested in the unfolding romance than the scandal plotline.

In general the book moves at a fairly slow-ish pace, the feeling is that you are there to soak up atmosphere, rather than be there to be thrilled by the exciting action. It seemed that this might be suitable to the easygoing country life that was portrayed so maybe that was deliberate.

An enjoyable read.

A sweet and light hearted book to read. At times it was very predictable, boring, and a tad cringey, however, I also do not believe that this book was written for someone as young as me (19 years). Bundy the dog was my favourite character in the story; he really put the storyline into place. I found it interesting how Bundy is depicted in a fairy god mother like manner. The mystery aspect of the story was enough to keep me reading but not as eventful as I believe it could have been. Although I enjoyed reading this book, it did not stand out to me. This is most likely because this storyline has been told many times before. Not to mention the overuse of the ‘grumpy hot guy falls for the quirky hot girl whilst learning how to open up about past trauma’ trope. In terms of the writing flow, the words became very repetitive and specific phrases were overused. I believe it could have been a lot more direct. A phrase that was over used for example, was, “Elliott didn’t want to do this, AS this was traumatising”, “Taite couldn’t do this today, AS he already had other stuff to do”. These examples are obviously not word for word, but hopefully you can get the gist of my point. I found multiple sentences phrased with the word ‘as’ to link an explanation.

Back in the small town of Bundilla, Hettie tries to find out the true story behind a scandal that happened years ago. Whilst there, she works on her photography and is trying to get over loving Taite.

I truly love being swept into rural life, adding a bit of drama and lost love, and finding new love.

Hettie our protagonist in this classic romance, has country charm, good looks, humble nature and intelligence. Irresistible to her love interest Taite, who appears to be the equivalent male character. Back and forth emotional tension between the two extends throughout the book as they both try and resist temptation. All the while there is a mystery playing out in the local country community.
The town mystery involves a decades old crime and has the reader following numerous potential criminal culprits. We meet your classic gossip enthusiasts, the town drunk, school and family connections, too many to list. Sometimes difficult to follow the numerous minor characters, with small clues and suspicions tossed in every direction.
The town dog Bundy, aptly named after the town Bundilla, is the four legged version of the town matchmaker. He belongs to the community and goes where he is needed.
Perfect read for some gentle escapism. Callen upholds the mystery and the personal magnetism throughout. Easy to read and as the book draws to a close, everything makes perfect sense and even hints at a secondary character possibly chasing her own romance in the next book.
Even though this is Book #3, I hadn't read 1 & 2 - it works as a standalone book as well. Thanks to the Better Reading team for asking me to review this forward copy.

This took me so long to read only because I keep wanting to set aside time where I could just sit down and devour it (possibly in a single sitting). The reality is that this is no longer possible with young children in the family; much as I love my kids, this saddens me lol. It was a bit stop and start for the first half but I did manage to read the last half in one sitting so I enjoyed the last half a lot more than the first.

One of the things you're really excited about is when the love interests first meet in the book. This happened very quickly in this book, pretty much right at the beginning. However, it took them quite a while to actually sort things through so that was a little bit on the slow side for me. The mystery they were keen to solve was also slow going until suddenly everything just sort of peaked at the end. I guess what I enjoyed about the book was just that it's such a chill read; relaxing and very touching in some parts (yes, I shed some tears too).

I have to admit that I've not been following this series but I'm now keen to read the earlier books. I love the setting and I especially love Bundy, the matchmaking dog! I am hoping to see Brenna in the next instalment though there are a few other potentials.

My thanks to Harlequin Australia for gifting me a copy of this book. Thoughts are mine own.

I loved 'Snowy Mountains Promise' by Alissa Callen. I find her books easy to read and the book comes alive to me and I feel like I could be a character in the book. Both Brenna and Hettie made me want to move to Bundilla and be friends with them, they have an amazing friendship and I could see myself having a friendship with them. I also love the mateship of two small town men that have been friends all their lives, and have a strong bond. In small town rural stories I love getting to meet and know all the characters and decide who I like and don't like, and of course their is always a scandal to keep you guessing and a love story. As I read the descriptions of the scenery and the landscapes I could picture it all so clearly in my mind and when a book takes me there I just don't want to stop reading! If you are an Australian Rural Romance fan this is a must read! #BRPreview @betterreadingau

At this point, Callen’s “Snowy Mountain” books can be considered a series – this is the third – and I have no doubt that readers of the earlier novels will both enjoy this one and look forward to more in the same vein in future.

The Snowy Mountain books are all set in and around the small town of Bundilla, and many characters recur. However, each focuses on the romance of a different couple.

In “Snowy Mountains Promise” we meet Hettie Burbrook, an old school friend of Brenna Lancaster. We know Brenna and her twin brother, Taite, from earlier novels. Although Hettie has spent many a school holiday with Brenna and her family, she’s come to Bundilla for more than a catch up with an old friend.

Her beloved great uncle Elliot is dying. Hettie doesn’t remember him ever having a romantic relationship, but she’s heard him talking in his sleep – begging forgiveness from a mysterious Evie. Hettie wants to take Elliot to Evie’s final resting place, in hope it might bring him some comfort. However, it soon becomes clear that there is much more to this story than Hettie has been told; more, perhaps, than Elliot himself knows.

Hettie’s focus on finding answers – Elliot doesn’t have much time left – is made more difficult by Taite. Hettie has loved him since she was a teen, but Taite made it clear he wasn’t interested. That doesn’t mean Hettie’s feelings have ever subsided.

Meanwhile, Taite does indeed have feelings for Hettie – lots of them. But past hurts and family secrets make him reluctant to succumb.

Like most romances, there aren’t any great surprises in the plotting. A great many readers won’t care about that at all. The characters are strong and empathetic, the story credible, and the setting vivid. These things will satisfy most romance readers.

This is, as I said, the third novel Callen has set in Bundilla. It’s a town bursting with vividly realised characters, quite of a few of whom add a dash of humor to the novel. There are also at least two more recurring characters who seem likely to wind up starring in novels of their own. The fact that many characters recur adds dimension to the novel, especially for continuing readers.

I did find this novel a touch flatter than the earlier two. I think it’s because I found the obstacles between Hettie and Taite somewhat less believable than those between other couples. This made it harder to invest in their story, and made it a little less engaging for me. However, not every reader is going to think this.

My other problem – and I’ve mentioned this in other reviews of Callen’s novels – is that I find it hard to picture the size of Bundilla. There’s supposedly only a couple of eligible bachelors in town, making it sound tiny, but other aspects make it sound quite large.

This is a romance which will please Callen’s fans – particularly those who’ve read the earlier “Snowy Mountain” novels – and suit most romance readers. I didn’t find it quite as engaging as the earlier novels, so perhaps it won’t connect as strongly with new readers.

I love this Alissa's books so much - as someone living in the Monaro region and reading about the little fictitious town of Bundilla, it's occupants, Bundy the red kelpie is always fun as you can forget about everything you're doing, whilst becoming immersed in the town, the characters, and the matchmaking of the quilting club ladies - they mean very well, there always seems to be plenty to do and see - some big event is always happening in Bundilla.
Tait and Hettys story an unrequitted love that traversed the years since teenage years (although neither aware of how each other felt) - along with a mystery in the town of something that happened a very long time ago. I cried reading a chapter towards the end of the book when a family was reunited - I'm getting teary just thinking about those paragraphs.
I've got Book 4 of the Bundilla series (and a few other books of Alissa's - another series) and can't wait to read Brenna's journey. You need to read Alissa's books - living local gives you connection to the area she writes about, even if you don't live local the magic of scenery and intrigue draws you in - how can you not bowled over by the mystic gums, brumbies, snowy mountains, Bundy, Ruby the goat and rugged handsome cattlemen with nosey sisters who want the best for their brothers. Once you finish the first book you will want to read them all till the next book comes out...and then you're champing at the bit - pardon the pun - for the new book to be released.

We're back in Bundilla again in the next novel from Alissa Callen. This time it's the story of Taite and Hettie. If you've read the first two set in Bundilla, Taite is the twin brother of Brenna and Hettie was good friends with Brenna when they were at boarding school. Hettie is also from Woodlea, where Alissa Callen's other books are set.
Both Hettie and Taite have been in love with each other since she visited when she was grieving and they shared a kiss on the riverbank. Since then they've been avoiding each other whenever she was staying with Brenna.
This story has the typical elements of a rural romance-family secrets and local characters. This one does focus a lot less on the farming elements as the main characters aren't traditional farmers (he is a deer farmer/sculptor and she is a flying chiropractor). It is very much a slow burn and the story only includes some brief kisses so don't expect much steamy action.
It is an enjoyable read if you can handle the slow unravelling but it's not my favourite of her books.
Thanks to Netgalley.com and Harlequin Mira for my complimentary eARC copy.

An Australian rural love story set in the small town of Bundilla. Hettie is a chiropractor by trade, and a hobby photographer who love nothing rethink to fly solo across the outback. With a photography book deal in tow, she visits Bundilla to take her photos plus uncover some secrets. Taite, the brother of Hettie’s best friend Brenna, held a flame for Hettie for a long time, and her visit to the town reignited the spark.
This book captured the classic ‘does he” and “does she” feel the same scenario, with a lot of back and forth that seemed more than necessary. There were a lot of ancillary characters that did not seem to add a lot of value to the story lines, and a major story perspective given to a little dog called Bundy.
I was invested in the solving of the mystery surrounding the mystery women who was one in Hettie’s great-uncle’s life (Elliot). The whole idea to discover who this was and possibly reunite him with memories was sweet. The back story was a little more dangerous than I expected it to be, and was a good drama to include to balance the romance.

Thank you HarperCollins Publishers for my ARC.

Alissa Callen has written a third book in the Snowy Mountain series and knows how to give her readers what they have come to love!
We return to Bundilla, Bundy the much loved town dog and the main characters, Taite and Hettie!
I loved the characters, they feel like friends and bring their emotions, experiences and life stories to ‘reality’. Every character has their own part to play within the storyline.
Hettie is a pilot, amongst her other interests, her friend Brenna is Taite’s twin. Brenna needs Hattie’s help, a visit brings her close to Taite as well.
The story is descriptive and beautifully written, I particularly enjoy Bundy’s connections to those that he supports!

Huge thanks to Harlequin AU, NetGalley and the amazing Alissa Callen for the opportunity to read and review this book.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Bundilla Novel series have been really enjoyable books and each one seems to get better and better. Snowy Mountains Promise was full of action and country romance and included all of the characters in the previous two novels and letting you know more about each of them. Of course Bundy, the town kelpie, is back to his match-making tricks.

The three main characters in this story line are Brenna, her twin brother Taite, and her best friend from school days, Hettie.

When Hettie finds out her uncle is dying she wants to reunite him with a long lost love whom lived in Bundilla. She goes back to Bundilla and stays with Brenna on the farm she and Taite run. As she starts digging into the past there is a sordid past she starts to uncover and strange things start happening to people around Hettie that could lead to danger!

Do yourself a favour and read the whole series. You won't be disappointed.
