Where Do You Spend Your Heartbeats?: Design the Life You Desire, One Heartbeat at a Time

Rate this book
Part prescriptive book and part memoir, "Where Do You Spend Your Heartbeats?" is an inspirational guide on how to start living a life of joy without waiting for catastrophe. This book is a gentle wake-up call to see our heartbeats as currency that should be spent wisely and purposefully in the pursuit of happiness. Using a tone that one would expect to encounter in a fireside chat with a good friend or mentor, the author speaks to the reader about serious life challenges ― including divorce and cancer ― with genuine compassion and levity. Written by a two-time cancer survivor who found the strength to leave a toxic marriage, the author delivers core messages on controlling obsessive thoughts, deconstructing fear, the power of words, and the magic of manifesting. In addition, she offers actionable tools and exercises for the reader. At the back of the book, there is a summary of the tools described in the book for easy reference.

This book made me think about how I am living my life, what I need to change, and how I want to spend the rest of my time on Earth. Don't read this book unless you're ready to face the truth - it's easy to waste our one precious life, but it's not that hard to get back on track with creating the life you desire. Thanks to the author for sharing her life story with us!

Where Do You Spend Your Heartbeats? certainly can be in the self-help category, but it is so much more than that. I appreciated how the author shared her own experiences throughout the book to bring to light many lessons learned and, in turn, help others. In this way, it had the characteristics of a memoir.

The way author Stacey Arron Domanico explains her history, from an unhealthy marriage to cancer diagnoses, in a way much like a friend would talk to me. It is a genuine voice with details that tug at the heartstrings. She gives intimate details and admits when she struggled to find answers and guidance in different life situations.

How great is the book title?! It is both fantastic and scary as it brings to mind the shortness and preciousness of life. Each heartbeat is another moment of life done.

Are you spending your life doing what you want to do? The author asked herself this question, and as a result of her answer, she left her corporate job to become a life coach and write this book.

I had to take a good look at where I spent my heartbeats. This book gently encourages it, and I wanted the full experience.

If you want to change something about your life, to create a road ahead that brings you more satisfaction, then this book might be the right one for you. While change can be scary, it can also be amazing, as author Domanico demonstrates in her personal life by comparing her life now to her days past.

Note: I was gifted this book in return for an honest review.
