Her Dark Star

Rate this book
The old glass globe was just an innocent bauble, purchased on a whim. But what lives within the witch ball will change her life. Forever.

The local mystic shop wasn’t Nadya’s usual shopping grounds. She only went to humor her cousin's half-baked fascination with Wicca. She never imagined she'd make a purchase of her own, but the unique glass ball would not be left behind. Now, it sits on her dining room table, with her unaware of the eyes watching her from within.

Charming, seductive, and cursed to the witch ball by a vengeful paramour, Finnan Dark Star has spent a millennium trapped within the glass. He’s tried every spell, conjured every trick to break free, but the sphere’s magic is impenetrable. Until…Nadya. With freedom so close, he’ll call on all his powers of persuasion to secure her help in escaping before the sorceress who entombed him alive discovers this break in his chains.

As Nadya becomes ensnared in a world of magic where truth is an illusion and nothing is as it seems, she'll have to rely on the warlock for answers she can't trust him to explain. And Finnan will have to decide if revenge is worth risking a fate more heartbreaking than eternity as a prisoner of the witch ball.

What an outstanding read! I was torn between not wanting to put it down because it was SO engrossing and forcing myself to read it slowly because I was enjoying it so much, I didn't want it to be over! There were so many surprises in the plot that I did NOT see coming! Loved the characters (both good & bad)! The ending was very satisfying but I almost wish there were a sequel. There are some descriptive intimate love-making scenes which, while artfully done, might not be appropriate for all ages.

Although I'm not a big paranormal romance fan, I've read all the Ivancic novels published so far, and they are quite entertaining. I believe readers will enjoy how she develops the characters and immerses you into their minds and spirits. A little magic along with a surprise ending to each story is refreshing and memorable.

A wonderful romantic and paranormal fantasy filled with magic, curses, Romani ancestors, witches and sorcerers that is such a page-turner. A powerful warlock Finnan is trapped in a ball by a centuries ago foe – because of love. Now it’s modern times and a young woman curious about the occult purchases the ball (given to her by mistake). Finnan realizes she can hear him. It’s not supposed to be possible.
At that point Ms. Ivancic’s story takes off and has quite a few twists and turns, some you see and others that catch you by surprise.
Great and well-written fun!
