even though this book was a collection of different voices and stories rather than a story by a single author, and thus harder to rate, i still feel that this was a 5/5 read for me
having the possibility to read 22 different stories and insights, each with distinct writing styles, lengths and plots, made me feel even more connected to lesbianism
while i didn’t love all of the stories and there could’ve been more poc voices, i still loved that they all centered around lesbian experiences

I really, really liked this anthology. Honest, varied, moving. It's super nice to read lesbians written by lesbians!

some stories were wayyy better than others, and could always be more diverse (intro letter) but overall, esp for the 80s, was a rlly good collection n enjoyed reading it to overcome office work boredom :)

It was so cool to read works by different lesbian authors. I loved the variety and how their voices came out in their pieces.
My favourite entry was Jean Roberta's The Ballad of the Deep Blue Sea, which is a gorgeous piece of writing.

Some stories were better than others. I loved the Lesbians of Color Caucus Statement.
There's one story in here that touched on domestic violence. I think it is very well done and probably one of my favorite pieces from this collection.

Being a lesbian seems like it was such a declarative thing back then. The exhaustion is really felt in a lot of these stories. The love, too.

this book was fantastic. I rate it 4 stars, because of how drastic the quality of writing differs from story to story. I really enjoyed myself, and felt very seen. ill be recommending this book to many of my friends, and hoping they ignore the massive amounts of underlining I did. :-)

I have a difficult time reviewing collections of works by multiple authors. I'm having extra trouble with this once since it's been so long since I started reading it.
I'm pretty positive this is the book I picked up in July 2011, when I was nearing the end of my time in England. I was off to see a play in London (The Cherry Orchard) and there was a stand for someone selling books. I can't resist that sort of thing!
I also seem to have a sixth sense for lesbianism, so if it's mentioned of there's a book or anything to be found, I tend to find it. In a huge collection of books, I managed to find by skimming one that had "lesbian" in the title. I've been reading it on and off, whenever I found it, since.
I enjoyed some of the stories immensely and I can tell that I liked the book by how many of the stories I dog-eared. (Yes, I'm terrible like that when I own a book.)
Sometimes it's fun to just have some lesbian fiction to read!
