A literary ballet, an intricate dance, a beautiful mess of a wartime story. Sometimes the plot takes a detour, but who cares man, when the characters are so darn real? Doerr's words are like a painting, making you feel everything. The story might trip a bit, but you forgive it because it's got heart – the kind that lingers, making you think about life, war, and what it means to be human, way after you close the book. It's flawed, yet oddly perfect.
Absolutely love this book! There are so many characters and they are so well developed by the author! You will love some and you will hate some... I really liked how this book did such an amazing job for portraying the tragedy of war and the different ways that can affect people's lives.
Too much detail. If you have ADHD don’t even try. Felt like a book that won’t let you have your own imagination. It’ll describe every tiny thing for you! No imagination needed! 😑
Good book that highlights the hardships that were faced in WW2. The book was a bit chaotic because it would fast forward and then rewind and jump between characters. Definitely worth reading though!
