Here we are the end of the series. At one point in this volume it looked like it was heading towards an end that I would have enjoyed. However it didn't actually go that way.

The whole point of this story of this series was the future King needed to ask a Witch to have a curse removed from him. Once the curse is removed, he could become a father, and there would be an heir to the throne. The Witch was to help him lift the curse and though she did, ultimately they fell in love. She then was to be his wife and the mother to the future heir. That is what I signed up for, King/Witch relationship issues and how they overcame it. Ultimately that is not what happened.

Some people may like it but in my personal opinion, I just hated that this was the direction the story went.

This is last volume of the series (I know, a light novel series that finished in less than 10 volumes without being dropped or stalled, what will they think of next ?), so I may as well review the whole series instead of just this volume. I think it had good ideas and premises, but the execution itself was not so good.

The series basically had two overall plot lines. One was the story of a powerful witch and an handsome prince meeting and falling in love while having various adventures. That part was OK, but was undermined by the two main characters Oscar and Tinasha being overpowered and winning easily over all obstacles. The romance between them was also very cliched and kind of boring.

The second plot line, lurking in the background of the first one, was a confusing story about time travel and history being constantly overwritten by a magic artefact without the two main characters realising it. The main “bad guy” was actually the only one realising it because he had to constantly relive all the various timelines and wanted to destroy the artefact as a result, even if it meant he would stop existing. It was an interesting story, but it undermined the first plot line because at the end it meant that most the adventures of Oscar and Tinasha never happened because history kept resetting, so it was hard to get invested in them. And since the story focused on the adventures of Oscar and Tinasha to the detriment of the time-travel plot line, it ended up undermining the whole series.

I liked this volume better because it mostly dealt with the time-travel part, but I had a hard time pushing myself through the last two volumes after the first big time reset. For this reason, I give that volume 4 stars out of 5 and but will only give 3 stars to the series itself.

A bittersweet ending to a very engaging series. The plot twists and turns in such satisfying ways, and I couldn’t ask for a better conclusion to all the plot threads - what a thought provoking and fascinating premise! While it still has its side-eye romantic moments, the characters really endear themselves to the reader. I’m excited to relive Tinasha and Oscar’s adventures in the manga and anime adaptations.

Love the ending. Love Oscar and Tinasha. They are meant for each other.
P.s: wonder how the anime will progress to this part...

An unfortunately ho hum ending. I really struggled through the end, which did not, for me, live up to the expectations set up throughout the whole series. The last three books were not as compelling and fun as the first three, which is a pity. The characters are otherwise a lot of fun.
