A bitter betrayal. An unwilling hostage. An impossible choice.

Kidnapped in the aftermath of the explosion which rocked Bellator, Faith is a prisoner in the rebel community of Eremus. As she plots her next move, she struggles to come to terms with Noah’s betrayal. He proved what she was always taught – men can’t be trusted.

But in this harsh environment, Noah may be her only ally. Bitterly regretting his actions, he does everything he can to regain Faith’s trust. And when he defends her from the ruthless rebel leader, she finds herself falling for him.

Then Faith learns that Bellator wants her back - for all the wrong reasons. Caught in the middle, she doesn’t know where to turn. As the reckless actions of the leaders on both sides endanger someone she loves, Faith realises she has become a pawn in a much bigger game.

Can she save her best friend without playing into the enemy’s hands? And, if she succeeds, will it mean leaving Noah behind?

About the author

Clare Littlemore

22 books183 followers
Clare Littlemore is a young adult dystopian and sci-fi author who thrives on fictionally destroying the world with a cup of tea by her side. The tea will often be cold, because her characters have a way of grabbing hold of her and not letting go until the final page of their story is finished. They regularly have the same effect on her readers.

As well as being a writer, Clare is an avid reader. In other people's books and her own, she enjoys imagining how the world might look in a few decades and considering how ordinary characters might deal with the extraordinary situations the future throws at them. Clare lives in the North West of England with her husband and two children.

I really enjoyed Book 2 of The Bellator Chronicles. I continue to root for Faith and Noah, and I really liked seeing their relationship—and their understanding of each other—grow in this book.

Book 2 takes place almost entirely in Eremus. I think that’s part of the reason I didn’t find it as compelling as Book 1, which had a lot of scenes in Bellator. But it looks like Book 3 will be set more on Bellator than Eremus—back to the fascinating, dystopian, all-female city! I’m looking forward to that.

Littlemore’s writing is excellent, with engaging descriptions, well-drawn characters, and good pacing. For readers who enjoy clean YA dystopian books, this is a wonderful series to check out.

Dependence is the second book in The Bellator Chronicles and was just as great if not better than its predecessor Compliance. Dependence was just as exciting and kept me racing to the end not being able to flip the pages fast enough wanting to know how it all was going to turn out.

Dependence is told from both Noah's and Faith’s points of view. I enjoy seeing the world through more than one pair of eyes as there is usually more than one story to tell or more than one side to a story. Dependence takes place in the rebel community of Eremus. Eremus residents live in caves with many rooms.

Inside one of these rooms is where Faith is being held. Faith is from Bellator. After the explosion at Bellator, Faith and a few other girls were taken, prisoner. Noah knew that taking the girls was a bad idea but he couldn’t resist as he wanted Faith close to him. I do think Noah probably thought he was saving her more or less.

I really loved reading Compliance and getting the Bellator side of the story about the all-female population but I also loved reading Dependence and getting their side of the story and seeing their world. Can you just imagine how all those girls are going to react when or if they ever learn of the existence of men?

I can’t wait to see where Faith and Noah’s story or stories go next in the third book Defiance in The Bellator Chronicles.

I highly recommend Dependence to all dystopian and Sci-Fi fans. Grab your copy of Dependence today!

The author, Clare Littlemore, put me on the edge of my seat reading Dependence, the second book in her series, the Bellator Chronicles. Told from two different points of view, Faith and Noah, the story begins with Faith being held hostage in the hidden community, Eremus. Eremus exists in a network of caves, which provides a unique setting for world building. You experience Noah’s feelings of guilt and distress from a raid gone wrong and Faith’s angst and distrust toward a young man she had started to fall in love with. Both the main characters face two different sides of the same dilemma. The jockeying back and forth between their viewpoints is an engaging writing technique, which allows you to plummet the depths of their feelings and embrace both of their character arcs.

The protagnoists’ dimension, the story pacing and unexpected twists in the plot immersed me throughout the book. The story flows naturally; the writing is excellent and I’m always excited to read a dystopian novel!

The author provides the expected conventions and scenes in the dystopian genre with a romantic subplot that touches your heart.

I’m an ARC reader for Clare and even though I’d read an early version, the story continued to grab my attention and grip my emotions until it reached its final version. I think that’s a lot to say about any story!

Dependence is the second book in the Bellator Chronicles and it doesn't disappoint. I was so excited to read this follow-up book, as the first book in the series had left me wanting more. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint. I loved getting to see how the story of Noah and Faith continued. One of my favorite aspects of the author, Clare Littlemore, writing is that we get dual POV. I love getting to see both viewpoints of the main characters. The fact that Noah and Faith grew up in polar opposite situations, they see things pretty differently a lot of the time. They also find it hard to understand one another so seeing them work those differences out is fun to watch develop. The evolution of Noah, Faith, and their societies is still not over and I can't wait to see how it continues in the third book. Highly recommend picking this series up today.

I received Dependence (The Bellator Chronicles#2) by Clare Littlemore through Bookfunnel and enjoyed reading. In this book in the aftermath of the explosion that rocked Bellator Faith, along with a few of her schoolmates, is a prisoner of the rebel community of Eremus. In this harsh environment Noah may be her only ally. When he defends her from the rebel leader she finds herself falling for him. She then learns Bellator wants her back-for the wrong reasons. Caught in the middle she doesn't know where to turn when the reckless actions of leaders on both sides endanger someone she loves. Can she save her best friend and will that mean leaving Noah behind? I recommend reading This book is available on Amazon

Author Clare Littlemore ups the stakes in Dependence, book 2 of The Bellator Chronicles. It is the kind of book to keep you up for “one more chapter” as it is told strictly in alternating POVs of the two leads, Noah and Faith.

This book includes crucial moments where both characters realize that neither of them come from a perfect society, and paved the way smoothly for the last book of the trilogy with a few unanswered questions. There’s one thing I really want to know, especially since it’s only hinted at!

Regardless, it’s a book that’s even better than its predecessor and I can’t wait to read how this story ends!

This is an ARC review.

I enjoyed this book but not as much as the first one. The entire story happens in Eremus and I would’ve loved it to have some scenes in Bellator too. I’m really curious about their way of life.

I liked the fact that throughout the book, both Faith and Noah realise that they don’t come from the perfect society. I also enjoyed following their relationship.

Ruth and Ella are really the best and I love them so much. Each character has their own way of being and are well written.

Overall I enjoyed this book and look forward to the next one for all the unanswered questions!

I was very happy when I knew this book was released as I was keen to find out more about the characters Noah and Faith. Clare Littlemore didn't disappoint. The story moves at a good pace and draws you completely into the world of Bellator and Eremus. I found myself laughing, crying and hoping along with Faith, Noah and the rest as I read, getting completely lost in the story. Clare is excellent at creating drama and suspense and I cannot wait to read the final part of their journey.

“Dependance” by Clare Littlemore is a dystopian novel set in the future. This book picks up right after the closing events of “Compliance”. The question the characters find themselves asking, leave the reader wondering the same things. I loved reading Noah and Faiths journey throughout this book and can’t wait for the third book in the series. If you like Dystopian stories with a lot of world building, this book is the one for you. I can’t wait to see what the rest of the series will bring.

Another .....

Another great book from Clare Littlemore. The scenery is so well written you feel as if you can smell the forest and caves. Faith shows her strengths and weaknesses all in one. Noah is quiet but for his feelings towards his family and Faith.
