Meet Hate

Rate this book
If there’s one thing I’m sure of, it's that I’ll do anything to prevent some suit from walking onto my family farm and buying it from us.

Hayes may think he can show up at our home, fling a contract in my face, and I’ll drop to my knees and thank him for saving the day, but he’s got it all wrong.

Even if it means Hayes has to spend more time on the farm, sleeping in the bedroom next to me, and almost getting a limb cut off.

When I learn that Hayes needs his job to care for his nephew, I see a different side to the grumpy businessman and understand his motives. He may be the enemy, but soon I can’t deny the chemistry that sizzles between us.

But his boss gives him an ultimatum to finalize the sale or get fired, and I make the greatest sacrifice of my life and sign the contract so he can raise his nephew right. Even if it means losing the man I love.

Meet Hate is an enemies-to-lovers rom-com with crackling chemistry full of laughs and heart set on a dairy farm. All the tension without the explicit bits. It's the third book in the Meet Cute Series, but it can be read as a standalone.

I could 100% see this book becoming a Hallmark movie!
Big city guy coming to buy a small family farm = enemy #1!
Small town girl who loves the farm with her whole heart = instant hate of enemy #1!

This was probably one of the most “realistic” showings of “hate to love” since Ellie had a valid reason not to really like Hayes. But I feel like it did take her a long time to realize that he was just the middle man doing his job.

I did enjoy the slower burn of their romance since they were complete strangers, as well as the grumpy/grumpy to grumpy/sunshine little bit we had.

I really loved the family and the farm and how welcoming the parents were! They knew that their circumstances were dire and they had to do what was best for their family.

It took me being almost 50% in before I really cared about Ellie & Hayes together though, and even then their chemistry felt a little forced to me until closer to the end.
But I loved that Hayes threw himself in everything on the farm and really came away a changed man. And I loved Ellie’s deep love of the farm and the animals!

Auggie was a sweet kid and a fun addition to the cast! I loved that he lit up when he was on the farm, and how seamlessly he fell into the Bishop clan. Hayes was a great uncle and I loved their relationship.

Overall it was sweet! The dialogue felt a little stilted and forced in some areas, but I’m looking forward to reading other works by Abi!

I received an ARC of this book, and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

When Ellie's parents tell her they've made the difficult decision to sell the family farm, Ellie knows she'll do anything to save it. As she schemes ways to keep the farm, a businessman named Hayes shows up to close the deal for his company. Ellie is determined to hate him and prevent him from getting the contract signed, but Hayes isn't as evil as she thinks he is.

If you enjoy tropes such as city boy x country girl, small town, or enemies-to-lovers, you might want to check this book out! It also has cow puns, sarcastic banter, and mischievous goats.

This was a funny, enjoyable read! Ellie and Hayes truly can't stand each other at the beginning of the book, and Ellie takes great joy in watching the city boy struggle on the farm. Poor Hayes goes through a lot in an attempt to get the contract signed! When they finally stop hating each other, they have some really sweet moments together.

I also really liked the relationship between Hayes and Auggie. These two were my favorite characters in the book! The scenes with Auggie were so wholesome, and they made Hayes a more loveable character.

The reason I didn't rate this higher is because I didn't care for Ellie much. I sympathized with her trying to save the family farm, but she struck me as very immature and irritating. I liked her more in the second half of the book.

Overall, this was a cute closed-door romance! If you like any of the tropes I mentioned above, you might love this book!

Oh, this book was udderly adorable (see what I did there?). The cow puns cracked me up. Although at times I thought Ellie was being a bit immature and insensitive to her parents' needs, I could sympathize with her and understand why she didn't want to sell the family farm. It would be an impossible situation to be in.

The banter between Ellie and Mike Myers, aka Hayes was top-notch. So much fun watching these two go from enemies to more. I honestly felt that this book had the enemies part down pat. Like they were truly enemies. He's trying to make the sale on her farm and she's doing everything to drive him away.

There were a couple of things that were a bit over the top, but overall it was an excellent, sweet and swoony, clean romcom!

I can't wait to go back and read the rest of this series!

Mixed feelings

What kind of blurb gives away things that happen 90% of the way into a book? This author literally spoils her own book by detailing every major plot point in the blurb, and I am genuinely confused by that. So it’s not that I didn’t like this strangers to instant enemies rom com, but the elements I was looking forward to the most didn’t even kick in until the back half - and our heroine was pretty nasty at the start. She’s (understandably) upset that her family’s finances have forced them to consider selling the farm, but she takes that out on a guy who has done nothing wrong. It comes off as childish and unnecessarily mean, so I had trouble connecting with her. The hero, on the other hand, was a total sweetheart. I loved how he was with his nephew, and it was easy to see what a nice guy he was. I struggled with the “enemies” portion of the story, but it simmers into a soft and sweet small town romance somewhere along the way. The back half had me considering a 4-star rating, but there were just too many things that bugged me to get there. I'd definitely try something else by this new-to-me author, because a lot of it was good.

The story follows Ellie, a woman who helps run her family's dairy farm. She loves working on the farm, and she has devoted her life to making it work. So it was a shock to the system to discover that the farm's finances are so bad that her parents have determined that they need to sell - ASAP. A corporate suit is on his way to review the farm's operations and negotiate the sale, and he'll be shadowing Ellie until that happens. Once Ellie realizes how little the guy actually knows about the day-to-day business of running a farm, she takes out her frustrations on him in an effort to send him packing. But Hayes settles into farm life better than Ellie anticipated, and their feuding soon shifts into something else. It's not long before these two instant enemies are finding common ground, but Hayes is still tasked with doing the one thing that is sure to devastate Ellie.

Let's talk about the good for a minute. I liked the overall vibe, which is a small town rom com. It's definitely got a closed door feel, but the romance is such a slow burn that I didn't miss the heat. I also really enjoyed the connection between Ellie and Hayes once she let go of her anger, especially after his nephew enters the picture. There's some humor and plenty of feel good moments, so I have the feeling that I would like other books by this author more. Especially now that I know the blurbs might be a little too descriptive, lol. The main thing I struggled with is the enemies to lovers element, which is usually one of my favorite tropes. It just felt mean-spirited for no good reason, and it definitely does not paint Ellie in a flattering light. I considered DNFing a few times, but I wanted to see what the vibe would be like once that part of the story wrapped up, and I do think it's much stronger in the back half. So this wasn't quite what I was hoping for and certain things disappointed me, but it shifted into a pretty solid read by the end. Mixed feelings, for sure!

A charming and funny small-town enemies-to-lovers romance with plenty of farm puns. This hilarious story is the struggle of a young women, Ellie, losing her family dairy farm and a man, Hayes, who is there to see if his client wants to purchase the farm. Its about how from the moment they meet Ellie has it out for Hayes. And they want to hate each other. But at the same time sparks fly. This story will have readers cracking up as they turn the pages. A sweet Hallmark-style romcom that is the perfect story to lighten any reader's day!

Ellie's family is selling their farm because they can't afford to run it anymore but she's doing everything she can to stop the sale because she knows the big corporation will just ruin it. Even if Hayes, the guy in charge of the sale is really attractive and he needs the bonus money that comes with it.

I really enjoyed this but my biggest problem is that the synopsis tells you everything that happens? I understand if it happens within the first 50% but it was literally the ending exposed? It kinda ruined it for me because I was just waiting for it to happen.

It was still a really cute, wholesome romance. I've enjoyed all the book in the series so far :)

A must read if you enjoy:
⋆Enemies-To-Lovers
⋆Farm Setting

This was a fast-paced read with plenty of witty banter between Ellie and Hayes. The farm related puns were very entertaining! While at times I felt Ellie was being immature, I could empathize with her not wanting to lose her home. Meet Hate is the third book in the Meet Cute Series, but it can be read as a standalone. Title: Meet Hate
Author: Abi Sabina
Hero/Heroine: Hayes & Ellie
Tropes: Small Town, Single Parent, Enemies to Lovers,

TW/CW: Death of a loved one,

THE GOOD 😀

Well wasn’t this just the sweetest bloody book. With the constant quips, the farm related puns and the serious chemistry between Hayes and Ellie, Meet Hate was a perfect example of enemies to lovers.

When a greedy corporation wants to buy up her family farm, Ellie is determined to find a way to stop the sale. So when grumpy Hayes turns up to oversee the signing of the contract, it’s instant dislike at first sight. After Hayes suffers an unimaginable loss, he’s determined to provide his nephew with a safe and stable upbringing. Which is why he’s so determined to get Ellie and her family to sell.

Cow pooh and mischievous goats aside, these two had the sweetest relationship once they got past their initial conflict. Between all the stolen kisses and time spent with Auggie, Hayes nephew, they built a solid foundation for a beautiful relationship and I loved seeing them open up to one another.

A sweet, closed door enemies to lovers romance that had me smiling at my kindle, Meet Hate was a great continuation of the Meet series.

THE BAD ☹️

Mr Howard, Hayes boss, was an absolute jackass.

Thank you to the author for providing me with a copy of this to read. This is my honest review.

This book absolutely needs to be made into a Hallmark movie. I loved it so much. The ridiculous puns, the hilarious nicknames, Mike Myers ugh! I absolutely loved Ellie and Hayes slowly falling for each other (and in cow poo!) I couldn't keep a smile off of my face the entire time I was reading this story. Well except for when I wanted to cry but with the cutest HEA and the hilariously perfect epilogue it was so worth it.

Do you love a sweet romance? Are you a fan of Hallmark movies? If so, I believe that you'll be reading this book with a warm, happy feeling. This story comes complete with a handsome man and cute farm girl. The only problem is that the handsome man works for the company that is buying her family farm.

This is a dairy farm with tons of cows with names, but the main characters are Hayes and Ellie. At the beginning, these two are not fans of each other. As he stays week after week, he can't get the family to sign the sales papers.

After many cow jokes and misunderstandings, Hayes and Ellie start to feel more and more attracted to one another. Hayes tries many ways to save the farm, but is it even possible. Hayes needs the bonus pay for getting this contract signed. He is raising his nephew and can't afford to lose his job now.

Come and check out this easy-to-read romance. Feel good movies are some of my favorites. Read this Hallmark-style story to find out if Hayes can save the day or if opposites really do attract?

With a title like Meet Hate I honestly did not know what to expect but I will say this was an enjoyable fun read. This is definitely an enemies to lovers trope. Hayes and Ellie cannot stand each other and Ellie takes great joy in seeing him suffer as he struggle with farm life. When they get past all the animosity they do have some sweet moments together. Their chemistry took some time to spark up and at times it felt a bit forced but eventually it grew on me.

This book will make you chuckle and sometimes out loud! It is a slow burn so definitely be prepared for that. Overall I thought it was cute story and I will definitely add her other books in the series to my TBR list.

Meet Hate is another super cute romantic comedy from Abi Sabina!

Ellie and Hayes were so much fun! She’s a small town gal and he’s a big city boy and their romance is definitely Hallmark worthy! You will laugh out loud at their banter (and nicknames!).

Ellie is loyal and fiercely protective of her family. At times she can be a little much. Hayes is just trying to do his job, and gets the brunt of Ellie’s frustration. It was a good representation of hate to love, and I liked the addition of Auggie. I felt like he brought a lot to the table in the story.

I enjoyed this book. It was a quick read, with likable characters and a fun, small town setting.

What a fun book! Meet Hate was such a cute and enjoyable read. I loved the farm setting, the sass from Ellie, and the classic enemies to lovers trope between her and Hayes. I really loved Ellie’s family and the honest dynamic. This book was also so funny. There were parts where I literally laughed out loud.

I loved Abi Sabina’s other book, Meet Again, and so it was also so fun to see the little cameo from Lex!

This was a sweet and swoon-worthy read without the spice (just a few kisses). I thoroughly enjoyed Meet Hate and can’t wait to read more of Abi Sabina’s books!

If you like farm puns, witty banter, and enemies-to-lovers swoony romance, you have to check out Meet Hate by Abi Sabina. This story had me laughing out loud in several places.

Ellie might be stuck in her head (or more accurately her heart) often, but it’s in a good place and I could empathize with her not wanting to lose her home. When Hayes Meyers (who Abi refers to as Mike Myers, the mask-wearing Halloween personality, not the actor) descends on the farm, Ellie wants nothing to do with him. And Hayes is a definite fish out of water outside of the city.

As Ellie learns more about Hayes, she realizes there’s more to him than the man come to steal her family home and dairy farm away and sparks are definitely evident from the get-go of their meeting. Add in some good friends, a cute little boy, and some goat and cow hijinks, and Sabina has written a sweet romcom not to be missed.

This was such a cute story! I enjoyed the characters and getting to know them, as they struggle to see things from the other side and learn to work together. I could relate to Ellie struggling to let the farm go, since it's hard to see a dream have to change. The story was adorable and I loved the banter between Hayes and Ellie! Her inner monologue is a fun addition to the story. This is a sweet, fun read to pick up and enjoy!

I enjoyed Meet Hate by Abi Sabina from start to finish. Initially, I thought the title unappealing. However, once I started reading, I was hooked by this enemies-to-lovers romance. The author used this familiar trope to create a feel-good romantic comedy (romcom) that was funny without relying too heavily on pop culture references.

The characters in Meet Hate undergo limited character development as the focus is on Hayes and Ellie’s growing relationship. Unlike some enemies-to-lovers stories, Ellie’s antagonism of Hayes was completely understandable considering her impending loss. The pronounced tension between them led to legitimately funny moments that had me snickering (mostly at Hayes). The author deftly moved Ellie and Hayes from business-related tension to romantic tension. I enjoyed all the stages of their relationship as well as the story’s conclusion.

Meet Hate lands as the third installment in Abi Sabina’s Meet Cute series. The novel works well as a standalone, but it was so delightful that I’ve already added the prior books to my wish list. I recommend this story to readers who enjoy clean romance with fun, humor, and swoony moments. The only thing I would change would be to omit the last paragraph of the book blurb as it’s a bit of a spoiler. 4.5 Stars.

Abi Sabina's Meet Hate: A Sweet Enemies to Lovers Romantic Comedy is a charming, hilarious book about a very unlikely protagonist/antagonist pair! Ellie wants nothing more than saving her family's dairy farm. She's a hard worker who's familiarly and lovingly acquainted with every inch of her family's farm (which grows hay and other grains), and each and every cow and goat who lives there. Sadly, with changes in the economy and clients, the family is in debt--which is growing greater every day.

The only option seems to sell.

But to Ellie? NO WAY. She is absolutely unyielding on this one; she will not sell. Especially after she meets the buyer's middleman, who's there to look over the farm and get Ellie's family to sign the contract. Hayes has clearly never been on the farm; and he's (unknowingly) declared himself her enemy by being the one sent to purchase it (on behalf of the buyer). And Hayes has quite a way of...shall we say...stepping into it.

But as the days pass, Hayes seems just a little less irritating, and less of an enemy. When Ellie discovers that "it's not just business" with him, she warms to him even more. Is it possible that these two former enemies could become more than distant friends--or even closer than that?

Sabina is an exceptional storyteller, and she has such a way with words! (I laughed out loud several times.) This dual-narrator book gives you the marvelously-developed POVs of Hayes and Ellie, as things turn out to be not quite what the two expected. If you love the romantic comedies in the film world, in which enemies fall in love, you'll love Meet Hate: A Sweet Enemies to Lovers Romantic Comedy. It's wonderful!

Reader’s Notes:

– this is part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone

– this is told from Ellie & Hayes points of views

– Hayes & his family recently lost his sister (who was his nephew’s mother)

Review:

I made so many cow-themed jokes to myself after reading this story, I just couldn’t get them out of my head! I loved Ellie’s determination to not allow anyone to take her work and home from her and how that translated when it came to Hayes coming to the farm. I loved their sarcastic banter and how Ellie tried every way she could to convince Hayes to run far away and forget about them…while also honoring her parents’ requests. Some of which included giving him tasks that were gross and pretending that tasks were done one way instead of another. Some of my other favorite scenes/things from this story included: cutting the hay, Hayes meeting Mrs. Nichols, going around the farm with Auggie, lake days, the cows, the goats, and the epilogue.

Summary:

Ellie is not about to let some big company by her farm. She cares about the animals that would have to handed over with the land if her family sells, and that’s just not an option Ellie can get behind. They likely just care about profits and not the wellbeing of her beloved animals. Since convincing her family otherwise isn’t going well, Ellie will have to do the next best thing: run the city boy off the farm without her signature on the contract. But when she begins to see a different side to stubborn Hayes and why he’s still there, can she let him go as easily as she planned?

Hayes is not happy to have been foisted this job. Between taking him away from his nephew and the girl determined to run him off, things are not off to a great start. Hayes doesn’t want to cause the family pain by confirming the sale, but he needs the money to give his nephew a good life that he currently can’t. So for now, he’ll just help where he can until Ellie changes her mind. When this process shows him a less snarky side of Ellie, Hayes is unsure what to do. Should he continue the work that’s wearing him down for the payday at the end of the tunnel? Or should he explore the feelings he’s got from being around Ellie and her family?

If City boy Mike Myers ops I mean Hayes, thinks he can just swoop in and take Ellie’s home, her family’s land right from under her nose without a fight, he has it all wrong. He has something else coming

This is my third book by Abi. I went into this excepting high grade supreme level extraordinary masterpiece, nothing short of her other works.

Well, it was a HIGH GRADE SUPREME LEVEL EXTRAORDINARY MASTERPIECE!!! Were you doubtful? I wasn’t. There for sure is no hate from my side toward this one! What a book to kick start my 2023 reads & set the roadmap for the year.

Meet Hate was the perfect model of enemies to lovers. The push and pull game was written and executed to perfection.

A freaking farm setting! I, for one, never ever in a million years thought that I’ll read about poop & crack up laughing. Yes! Laugh. I kept praying to read about more poop. Who am I?!

I loved how Ellie stood her ground & refused to go down without a fight. Exploring every avenue possible she can think of. One thing for sure, she is not a quitter. Hayes, my grumpy frumpy man. I adored him. He was sweet, caring, & responsible. A good man! But don’t make that fool you, he gave as good as he got.

I loved the goats and cows. Yes the goats & cows. Mootilda, can I have her please?! They were the show stealers with all their sneakiness & mischievousness. And Auggie, the cheek pinching worth adorable nephew.

Their banter was so realistic, childish, and simply fun. Abi brought the banter and sassiness SO HARD! And banter ALL DAY LONG they did. The kind were you need to get l popcorn, sit back and enjoy the back and forth ping pong ongoing action.

You want laughs. Feel good romance. Heartwarmness. Adorableness. Meet Hate delivers in spades!

I will always read and gush about Abi’s work. Trust me, you don’t want to miss on this one.
So a question to the lovely Abi, when is your next book coming?!!

Thanks to the author for the received ARC.

If the first book I finished in 2023 is any indication... it'll be definitely a good year. 😉

Ellie Bishop lives for the family farm. She's a country girl through and through. But the Bishops have to deal with money problems and there's Hayes Myers to get a lucrative deal for his boss...
A city boy wanna get their farm? Not if Ellie can prevent it!
One of the big questions is: can a country girl and a city boy get a HEA?

Starting the new year with Meet Hate by Abi Sabina was the best decision ever!
It's the 3rd book of her Meet Cute Series but totally can be read as a standalone.

The love story of Ellie and Hayes was sooooo funny and heartwarming and charming!
OMG! I LOVED IT! ❤️
Ellie is this sassy country girl. She loves to work with animals and the family farm means the world to me. So of course she does anything to help her family!
Dealing with Hayes, the business guy, is a challenge she definitely can deal with...
But can he deal with it too?
OMG! Hayes... what can I tell you about him?
He's this serious guy from the big city. Not really talkative at first and mostly concentrated on his mission.
Buuuut he turns into sooo much more!!! Awwww! Of course I loved him right from the start of this book! Because talk about opposites attract! Ha!
I absolutely loved the development of their interactions and relationship.
There's so much tension between Ellie and Hayes and... yeah it turns from enemies to much mooooore... be prepared to SWOON a lot!!!

I really really really loved Meet Hate by Abi Sabina and hope for more books in this series! 😍

I live in a Midwestern State with a lot of farms so I enjoy a good novel with a farm setting. Fun fact about me: I milked cows with my husband on a date before we got married. So when I read Meet Hate by Abi Sabina, I had a feel for all that was going on in this rom-com set on a struggling dairy farm.

Hayes is sent from a big corporation to make a deal with Ellie's family to buy their dairy farm that is currently financially operating in the red. While Ellie's folks are reluctant to sell, they have made peace with it. On the other hand, Ellie is stubbornly refusing to sell. When Hayes comes on to the farm, Ellie sees him as the enemy in this enemies to lovers romance.

Meet Hate is a cute story. I enjoyed the banter between Hayes and Ellie. I also could see how they could become more than enemies as the book and the plot went on. While it isn't real fast moving, the pacing is pretty good. The story flows along and is interesting. It took a little while to warm up to Hayes and Ellie but I did enjoy the story more and more as more of each of their character traits were revealed. I also enjoyed the side character family members. It has a happy ending, which is what I expected. Sometimes, you do just need to read a rom com with a happily-ever-after ending.

Meet Hate was a clean read with some kissing and a little romancing but nothing closed door.

I purchased my copy from Amazon for the purpose of reviewing this book for JustRead Tours. I received a digital copy and prefer paper copies.

Romance level: kissing 🔥.

This book was "Udder perfection"😂 It was such a fun enemies-to-lovers.

Ellie was so strong. She riled him up so much😂. Hayes growling response was 🔥.

🐐[“I guess your hearing is solid.”
“Unlike the manure you had me walking on.” I want to laugh at his retort, but I hold it back. I’ll give him points for his sarcasm.]🐄

I loved their flirting & banter! I loved seeing how gradually it became more. You can appreciate the shift. That first kiss🔥😍🙌🏻 & also, that first kiss😂.

The time in the farm & w/the Bishop's were the sweetest. I also loved seeing the main friend group again.

My heart broke w/Hayes' loss. What a tough situation he had to overcome. I was glad to see him healing💚.

Even w/ certain situations which normally I would object, here it just felt right w/the plot. I was so happy w/how it turned out. The scene w/her favorite spot & seeing them interact w/ Auggie were the cutest😍🥺.

Hayes' gesture was so sweet🥺. Loved the final scenes. It was so fun to see the resemblance from beginning to end.

I loved the epilogue😍. I'm so excited to see what's coming next. Definitely count me in for Abi's books!

"All of my attention is on his hand, touching mine. Such an elementary thing, and it feels huge for us. This man I'm supposed to see as my rival is becoming the vision of a man I like. Pigs must be flying because I swore I wouldn't be able to stand the man."
When Ellie discovers her parents plan to sell their farm, she is devastated. When she meets the man from the company buying their farm, Hayes, she can't help but look for ways to thwart their plans. As she and Hayes spend more time on the farm, and getting to know each other, will Ellie see that Hayes may not be the enemy? And will they be able to find a way to save her family's farm together?
This was such a lovely read- one that was a wonderful mix of light and layers of deep as we got to know the characters more and what they were facing. Ellie and Hayes were lovely to get to know, and their banter sparkled! This is my first by this author and I can’t wait to read more!

This was an enjoyable read, especially for the banter and funny t-shirts! I really enjoyed spending some time on the farm and avoiding the cold weather back home. Ellie was a great quirky character who kept saying cliches wrong, wearing funny t-shirts related to the farm and always spoke her mind, even when she didn't mean to! I did end up liking Hayes once we got to know him but he was so uptight at first. It was funny to see him try to help around the farm but not know what he was doing. The banter was pretty amusing and I liked the punny jokes. This was a clean read so some intense kisses but nothing more and no swearing. I'd recommend it if you like romances with some humor.

Read this book if you like: Dual POV, enemies to lovers, closed door romance, family business failing

Ellie wants to save her family farm. Hayes, a grumpy businessman, shows up with a contract. He has been sent to close the deal. Hayes needs his job to care for his nephew.

This was cute. It's an enemies to lovers. That is my favorite trope. I love Hayes. I love his reasons for being there. I love his drive. He was so sweet and caring. Ellie never really grew on me. She honestly acted like a child, in my opinion. Because of not loving her the romance wasn't quite what I hoped. It did have many funny and charming parts. I love Hayes' interations with his nephew. I do recommend it!

Thank you to the author, Abi, for the gifted e-book! ❤️

This was a cute, entertaining read that left me with a smile on my face. Enemies to lovers is probably my favorite trope, and add in a single dad/guardian with a little heartbreak or tragedy, and I'm a goner.

I enjoyed Ellie's awkwardness, and the banter she and Hayes had was great. We can all appreciate the desire for good, healthy, organic, grass-fed dairy products, so I can understand her unwillingness to sell the family farm. However, I didn't see any growth from her. Hayes was fantastic! He saw his need for change, and did so. Ellie doesn't deserve him. 😉

If you want a fun, lighthearted read with great banter, this is one you'll enjoy.

3.5 stars. This was a cute story! I really needed a laugh after my last book, and this one delivered. I did think Ellie was a bit immature sometimes (not realizing how serious the debt was), and sometimes her jokes fell flat (maybe not explained quite well enough?). But mostly she was funny -thinking out loud, getting idioms wrong, etc. Hayes was written well, with a good backstory and realistic internal struggle. I loved how the parts with Auggie enriched the story. I also loved that there was no cliché last-minute miscommunication that derailed the romance, but still a last-minute surprise!

This is the ultimate Enemies to Lovers romcom. I loved the banter! So good!! Ellie is so cute and hilarious! Hayes is also a very fun character. The author definitely caters to my sense of humor, I was cracking up throughout and even laughed out loud at one point it was so funny. So many great scenes. One being Hayes milking the cow. The “Enemies” part goes on for about half the book so it’s great! There was a little too much mentioning of Hayes muscles and the like for my preference but again my preference. I really enjoyed this book. Very entertaining and well written! Clean read and definitely recommend!

Pure Enemies to Lovers!

Abi is a genius! This book has the right amount of spice with these two main characters. The heart of these two and their families and how much they care about them will make them stop at nothing to do what they can to take care of them. But when they take off the blinders for a small second, they realize they aren’t the only ones fighting something to care for the ones they love. I love the way Abi really dove deep into the individual stories and what they are struggling with, but also how they were able to open up with each other so they could really help each other. They ended up sacrificing for each other (if that ain’t love, tell me what is!) and then the final sacrifice and the HEA…absolute swoonworthy! Thank you Abi Sabina!

This book did NOT let up the whole time! Fun-loving "Cow Princess" Ellie stands her ground against big-city businessman Hayes. Both of them have their own reasons for being stubborn about what they want, but will they have a happy ending when he wants to take her family farm and she wants to keep it going?

I loved their fun banter, all the cuteness with Auggie (his nephew) and also all the shenanigans, pranks, and hilarious clashes between them due to their differences. Despite their conflicts, they respected and grew to love each other which I thought was beautiful. Really smiled and laughed so many times during this book!
