She's a by-the-book park ranger. He's more of a cowboy. Will they ever see eye-to-eye?
Newly decommissioned soldier, Sam Hackett has his new life planned out — buy a tour boat, move to Retribution Bay, help his best friend. But his plans are beached when an overzealous park ranger suspends his tour licence on his first day.
Penelope Fraser plays by the rules, because if she bends them, they may break. She’s definitely not going to be swayed by a sexy ex-soldier who tries to convince her otherwise. But her concerns over Sam are forgotten when she catches poachers on the reef, and masses of dead fish wash up on the shore.
The unlikely pair are thrown together and find themselves embroiled in a crime ring which goes far deeper than dead fish.
Can they catch the criminals in time, or will they become the prey?
Beached in Retribution Bay is the fifth book in the Aussie Heroes: Retribution Bay series. If you like outback small towns, opposites attract romances, and intrigue, then you’ll love Sam and Penelope’s story.
Claire Boston fell in love with romance and romantic suspense at eleven when she discovered her mother’s stash of Nora Roberts novels. Like Nora, she writes series set around families or groups of friends with a guaranteed happy ending.
She loves travelling and learning about new cultures and interesting vocations which she then weaves into her writing.
When Claire’s not at the computer typing her stories she can be found creating her own handmade journals, swinging on a sidecar, or in the garden attempting to grow something other than weeds.
Claire lives in Western Australia with her husband, who loves even her most annoying quirks and is currently learning how to knit.
One of Brandon's buddies from the Army, Sam bought a local tour boat business to be closer to his bestfriend, but on his first day, he got his license pulled for a week as a result of the previous owner demanding an immediate answer from an over zealous Park Ranger, Penelope. She had recently lost a close friend and work associate by not following the rules so she was not cutting any corners for anyone, but it seemed like everytime, she turned around Sam was saving her from some scrap or another. Some poachers got the drop on her, but Sam luckily was in the area, and he was able to rescue her. The same poachers tried to kidnap her, but Sam got to her first. Meanwhile back at Retribution Ridge the search was still going on for treasure, with the only things being found were a cache of guns. Sam and Penelope have been added to the treasure group and are trying to find clues in the diary with no luck. Sam remains worried about Sherlock and Sam knows they could use his help on their problems Retribution, if Sherlock would just quit being so stubborn. Gripping suspense from the beginning keeping you on the edge of your chair guessing what might happen next. Beautifully written and wonderful romance to go with the mystery so do not miss this installment of the Retribution Bay Saga.

This is the fifth book in the Aussie Heroes: Retribution Bay series. It can be read as a standalone but I think the series is more enjoyable when read in order. There is a secondary story arc that spans the series. The first four books were about some of the Stokes siblings. Sam is friends with Brandon Stokes (book 1), they served together in the Army. Sam decides to make Retribution Bay his new home after leaving the military becoming the new owner of one of the boat tour companies, he's a friendly and laid back. Penny works for Parks and Wildlife and is a by the books card carrying rule follower, there's no gray areas for her, when rules aren't followed people get hurt or worse. You wouldn’t think they'd work as a couple but they seem to balance each other out. Well written, fast paced and steamy. Another excellent addition to the series. Can't wait to see what book six brings.

Claire Boston is a new author for me and one I really enjoyed reading. This set of books is set in Australia at a place called Redemption Bay. Sam Hackett has recently left the military and has moved to Redemption Bay. This will get him close to a fellow military friend and a new opportunity of running a tourist boat. On his first day on the boat he has a run in with Penelope Fraser, who is with the agency who governs the tourist boats. Penny is also new to Redemption Bay and is a rule follower. Things quickly heat up between the two but an old problem rears its head. Can Sam and Penny work with the Stokes family to solve this mystery or will it effect their growing closer. I definitely encourage the reading of this series. I plan on getting the rest of the series.
Park ranger Penny Fraser and ex-soldier Sam Hackett keep things moving in this action-packed series. He buys a tour boat and is immediately shut down when she suspends his license on his first day of business. But she has “bigger fish to fry” when poachers show up on the reef and a huge number of dead fish wash up on the shore. Sam and Penny partner up to take down the criminals. Will they succeed, or will they be the ones who are outnumbered and brought down instead?
Great writing and fast-action will keep the reader on the edge of the seat to see what happens next. Grab your copy and join in the excitement.
I am thoroughly enjoying the Retribution Bay series written by Claire Boston and Beached in Retribution Bay is no exception. Sam is my type of hero – kind and lots of fun. He has just moved to Retribution Bay to start a new path in his life. Penelope has been in Retribution Bay for a short time and is still finding her way after a traumatic experience. This story is full of drama, friendship & family. A great read with lots of excitement and adventure. I am also enjoying meeting up with people who have appeared in previous books
Sam is just out of the military, and has purchased a tour boat company. Penelope is his nemesis. She works for Parks and Wildlife Services, and shuts his boat down on the first day. Stonefish is still operating in the area, causing more crime issues, but still no idea who's behind the activities. This is a fast-moving story, with a slow-burn romance. I loved every minute spent reading. It's a great addition to the series, and has me ready for the next installment. Well, this book kept me in the edge of my seat. The latest instalment of the Retribution Bay series, it was so good. I could not put it down or turn the pages quickly enough. Sam saves Penny, Penny saves Sam, the bad guys are so bad. Stonefish continue with nefarious deeds. And a cliffhanger. This book has it all OMG I cannot wait for the next story.

This was a great edge-of-your-seat suspense book. This book doesn't disappoint. It’s a fast-paced story filled with intrigue, suspense, action, small town drama and let’s not forget, romance. What else can you want? This is the first book I’ve read in this series but definitely won’t be the last. I’m going to go and pick up the other 4 books in this series today. Happy reading everyone 4 1/2 stars ⭐️
This is a well written book with strong characters in Penny and Sam. The author does a great job pulling you in and keeping you glued to the pages. She moves the story fluidly with her descriptive writing and delivers another great book to the series.
