1 FUCKING STAR

I am not sure if I am too old to read books like this or if the new books coming out are just FUCKING SHIT!!!

This guy Teddy treats her like absolute SHIT, and that's ok. She takes it like a dormant that she is!!!

I understand that this supposedly is fiction but coloured me surprised that women's read this, rate it 5 stars, and expect their husbands/boyfriends to respect them.

Where the fuck is this case your value as a woman and be fucking strong????? Not letting a man treat you like a piece of shit????

I am so done with these new authors that write this ass weak woman characters that supposedly has to take any shit a man throws at you. !!!!

Excuse me, debut? Violet baby, you're a PRO!

“𝘏𝘦𝘺 𝘊𝘢𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘳,”
“𝘋𝘪𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘴 𝘮𝘦, 𝘣𝘢𝘣𝘺?”

You will either hate Teddy after the prologue or, like me, know he is going to be everything and more. Let's just say he is!

Can we just appreciate how amazing Fallon is. I love her so much and for how awful her c**t of a mother treats her and barely any love from her father, she is one strong headed female who I admire!

“𝘙𝘶𝘭𝘦 𝘯𝘶𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳 𝘧𝘪𝘷𝘦, 𝘣𝘢𝘣𝘺,”
“𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳-𝘧𝘶𝘤𝘬 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧 𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳, 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘦.”

Teddy throughout the book is an absolute asshole to Fallon and keeps giving her rules. Number 5 is my all time favourite! - yes Teddy, whatever you say,Teddy 🫡 but of course our girl does not stick to these rules and purposely goes against them 😎. So what does Teddy do. He punishes her and my god its HOTTT.

“𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴, 𝘊𝘢𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘳?”
“𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘶𝘴, 𝘛𝘦𝘥𝘥𝘺.”

I loved the guessing game with this story because you knew deep down there must be a reason Teddy is the way he is towards Fallon and when you realise why, you can't help but fall in love with him even more. He's such a baby deep down and I love him so much. What Fallon goes through is awful but of course our baby is there to save and help her🥹🖤.

Violet, your writing is amazing and the flow of your words makes for such a lovely, easy read. Please now get back to Fallon and Teddy because I need more!!

5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
3.5/5 🌶️🌶️🌶️

I was given an arc in exchange for my honest review

Favorite quote:
“𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴, 𝘊𝘢𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘳?”
“𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘶𝘴, 𝘛𝘦𝘥𝘥𝘺.”

Thoughts:
* I’m gonna start with I fell asleep way too many nights trying to stay up forcing myself to read because it was THAT good that I didn’t want to put it down.
* Teddy & Fallon are literally everything, I just don’t even know how to explain it without giving a lot away.
* Teddy is so dominant & protective of Fallon it makes my heart melt.
* Everything all makes sense why Teddy ditched Fallon. & it makes you fall in love with Teddy even more. My heart hurts 😭💔
* Ugh, major plot twist that left me shocked, pissed off & sad.
* This was so beautifully written, I loved every single page of this book, I CANNOT wait for part 2.

3/5 ⭐️
3.25/5 🌶

Tropes:
- he’s 21, she’s 18
- childhood best friends to enemies to lovers
- morally grey hero
- virgin heroine
- academy setting
- dub con

POV: first person - dual

Type: interconnected stand-alone (book one)

I kept getting annoyed.

She believes him to be continuing “entertaining” some other woman yet still lets him have his way with her. The heroine was very much suffering from “body betraying syndrome” and gladly let her lady bits do the talking for her the entire book.

“I want you to make me forget.” I hate this trope beyond belief.

Loved Theo and Fallon so much. The angst, the rules, the sass ugh perfection. I loved the twist too which I didn’t see coming. When Theo gets all protective and possessive I just can’t *melts*

This is such a good debut novel!! A little dark and a whole lot delicious. Theodore & Fallon are a good pairing. I’m be seen reviews saying Fallon was a doormat but I have to disagree. There’s being a doormat and there’s being downtrodden, which is exactly what Fallon is, thanks to her mother. That unloved feeling she feels is something g she has become accustomed to, so when Theodore treats her the way he does she does put up with it. Because she feels it’s what she deserves, it’s all she expects, and that’s the saddest part.

Theo was a cute bully, he wasn’t really horrible, just an arrogant prick at times. I loved his rules and I loved how he made Fallon pay every time she broke one of his rules. I also loved how when the tables turned, he was there every step of the way as Fallon’s world fell apart. He was her hero in every way, and I for one was glad for it!

Gage and Kyle were fab additions to Theodore’s world along with Betty and Noah to Fallon’s. Betty’s crush on Bennett was adorable!!

I will definitely read more of this series, and Violet Paine is definitely an author to keep your eye on this year. I’m excited to what she brings to Eyam Green Academy next.

Wow. Just. Wow.

When I say Play by the Rules is hot, I mean that this book is as hot as Mordor’s fires, the only thing hot enough to destroy The Ring! THAT’s what I mean!

Fwew. I’m sitting here still fanning myself after having finished reading Play by the Rules.

Play by the Rules is a book you never know you needed; but you absolutely DO need it!!

So, to begin with, I absolutely LOVE the cover of Play by the Rules. It stops and makes you think about what kind of book it’s going to be. Is it a murder book? Is it a dark themed book? Sacrifices? Rebirth from death? You’re never gonna know until you open that stunning cover and get sucked into the seductive, dark, thrilling world of Play by the Rules!!

Next, I am so enthralled by the intensity that is building and building and BUILDING between Fallon and Theo!! It starts off right away, and is never ending!! And you’re addicted to it. You want more and more, like a greedy little reader!!

As a fore-warning though, this book does have a content warning, and before you decide to read it, you need to make sure you’re educated about Play by the Rule’s content warnings!! I’m not bothered by any of them, but some can be triggering to certain people, and we don’t want that.

- Alcohol Use, Choking, Drug Use, Explicit Language, Explicit Physical Violence, Explicit Sexual Activity, Implied Sex Trafficking (Adult), Non-Con/Dub Con Implied, Physical Abuse from a Parent, Sexual Assault, Somnophilia. -

In the end, I am in love with this entire book. I wasn’t able to put it down, and didn’t want to even if I could. I’m excited for the next books in the series!!! I hope they’re just as hot and intense as Play by the Rules!!

I HIGHLY suggest this if you’re into some spicy spice!!

Fallon and Theodore

Fallon and Theodore story took me a moment to get into. A friend ship formed within the womb that slowly blossoms into much more. When Teddy takes her virginity one night and then walks away it changes everything for them both. It puts a hiatus on the friendship that they shared.
As Fallon enters her elite status in college three years later her and Teddy are united again. They begin an intense game of push and pull in and Teddy sets the rules.
Teddy refuses to say why he walked away, and Fallon refuses to be the victim. Together, they tell a story of young, love mixed with betrayal, angst and forgiveness.

After much book pressure from my friend Tasha to read this book I decided to cave once it was released. Let's just say I do not regret reading this. I will say this please check the trigger warnings before diving in. Theodore was cocky, beyond arrogant, and honestly just the perfect toxic book boyfriend. Fallon was beautiful inside and out. I truly enjoyed her character. The back and forth with them was perfect for this bully romance. Teddy's rules were on point as the book went on. The twist and turns in this book had me craving more. I can not wait for the couple.

DNF. What absolute shit. This is so wrong on so many levels. I am not a feminist but holy shit have some self respect. I gave up with his comment on not caring if she didn't consent and then proceeded to rape her mouth. This is after she tells him her mom hit her again. This is a piece of shit male and not any alpha that deserves to not be in jail.

Play by the Rules - Theodore & Fallon

SPOILER’S💯⁉️❗️‼️

From constantly seeing tiktok videos about this book I finally went and bought it. From reading the blurb & reviews I thought wow this sounds right up my alley my love for dark college romance is at a high always and my expectations even higher. Unfortunately I was let down a little bit. The blurb made it sound darker than it is. Childhood best friends until one day Theodore does a quick turn around and starts fallon. It’s been 2 years since they’ve seen each other. she’s now in university and he starts to give her rules to follow if she doesn’t follow them he “punishes” her by not letting her orgasm but seriously come on think of a proper punishment!! Even with that plot of the rules it doesn’t last long Theodore does another turn around deciding he wants to be with Fallon. Now their just a happy go lucky couple cmon wow like why say this is a dark romance when it’s NOT!?! The only thing that really surprised me was the ending story my heart just shattered and my jaw literally dropped Caroline marsh never sounded like a nice woman in any sense of the word but what she did when Fallon was only ELEVEN years old i really wanted to go into the book and give her a few good hard hits across her face smack that Botox right outta her 🤬 I’m happy her father eventually apologized for everything he didn’t do while his daughter was being abused. Not just him everyone knew what was happening to her and they all stood back and did absolutely NOTHING!?!

Even with all I’ve complained about i did love Theodore and Fallon together when he sound “I love you” my heart melted tears stained my eyes 🥹🫶🏼♥️ Their ENDGAME. Plus them sex/smut scenes did something to me that I f*cking loved HOT SPICY AF 🥵🌶️

The side characters Noah, Gage & Kyle I liked them even if gage & Kyle just cut Fallon off when Theodore did what shitheads but they grew on me. Betty i liked at the start but I soon found out she’s a pushy bitch who gets into everyone’s business while not wanting people to know hers I’m not sure I’ll be reading her & gage’s story. Bennett i loved him from the start then finding out the truth oh my god I’m still in shock.

Even tho the book didn’t live up to my expectations I’ll still keep an eye out for Violet Paine’s other books.

”Rule number one: Do as you’re told.”

Oh Teddy! You lying bastard. I fucking adore you!
The main character, Teddy, broke my heart on the first pages. How can you do that to a girl you so clearly love? The author left me with questions I needed answers to already in the first chapter and did I get them? Of course not! Puzzle pieces started to come together at the very end. And I loved every minute of trying to piece them together myself. Of course I didn’t succeed but that’s the beauty of it, you know? If you take this journey of self doubt, hate and love, violence and games I can promise you, you’ll love it, too.

”Rule number four, baby: When you finger-f&ck yourself later, think of me.”

Um, yeah!! How can she not, with those killer abs, strong hands and tattoos? I mean, I would but…
Chills…literal chills.

My favourite scene was the one where he…….and she……then he did that thing with the….. . Hahaha, not going to tell you because you need to READ THIS BOOK and find out yourself!!!!!

It ended with a bit of a cliffhanger but I think Teddy’s and Fallon’s story doesn’t end with book one.

As for trigger warnings, you should contact the author to get the list if you need one.

Where has this author and her books been all my life?

Seriously – I cannot get over the fact that this is Violet’s DEBUT NOVEL. HOW? What witchcraft and sorcery has she poured into Play by the Rules to make it so addictive?!

This had all the things I love to see from an enemies to lovers romance. Even though they started as childhood friends, Theo was determined to drive a wedge between the pull between him and Fallon. My heart hurt right alongside hers as she put up with his tormenting, and the loss of her other friends that sided with Theo.

Yes, this is a bully romance, but I think it had the perfect balance of longing and want to counter the bully elements. I loved being inside Theo’s head and seeing just how bad he wanted Fallon, despite his actions to push her away. You just knew there were secrets he was hiding as to why he had to push her away and it had me absolutely scrambling to find out what they were.

Violet also not only gave us a great romance, but she also had so many mysterious twists to the plot that had me in shock and totally blown away. I binge read this in 6hrs and my only regret was that it was over. I can’t wait for more from this world!

Teddy aka Theodore and Fallon 👫

Childhood friends turned enemies but only teddy knows why this is. 😎

Teddy is the perfect alpha through and through: he’s in charge,he knows what he wants and he takes it.

Fallon is chilled for a FMC but I kind of enjoyed it. She’s not your typical FMC I think that’s why I liked her alot (she was a welcomed change from the usual sassy, strong or sly leads I’ve read in other books)

Teddy sets rules for Fal and she must follow them. Teddy has eyes and ears everywhere.

Caroline marsh - 🔪 🤬

Play by the rules is a fast paced book. Found my self sucked in super quick!

Only down side it ended but kind of cliffhanger but not a cliffhanger 😂 yes I know that doesn’t make sense but it’s not your typical ending …. (Just read it and see)

I also loved ITS SET IN THE UK 🇬🇧 😂 it was such a nice change to read a book that’s not based in San Francisco, Boston or New York City 😂

Cannot wait to read more from vee !!

I didnt find out this was a debut until after reading it, and its mind-boggling. From the first page I. Was. Hooked! I love a bully romance and a bad boy. And Teddy - he wanted to be hated! The prologue does a perfect job of showing us Teddy & Fallon, their relationship and setting the tone going forward..

‘Did you miss me baby?’

EYAM Green Academy, Theodore is already a student there & Fallon is starting her first year. Hes cruel, giving her unfair Rules to abide by otherwise she will be punished. (And the punishments - id break all the rules😮‍💨🫠) He claims her as his. No-one can have her. And when he wants something, he will take it. Giving us all the touch her and die vibes.

These two were destined to be together. The tension, the chemistry. Fallon was a bad ass FMC. I ate this up! The side characters were amazing (minus the bitch of a mother) and im excited to read their stories. The pace was good, I was left wanting. No, needing more!

📖: Play By the rules
✍️: @author.violetpaine

I love an enemies to lovers vibe… even though they were childhood friends, Theo/Teddy had pushed Fallon away in the midst of rules he wanted her to follow. At first, we couldn’t understand WHY he pushed her away, but as the story begins to wrap up, we finally get our answers and understand Theo’s intentions.

I enjoyed the mystery in this book alongside the romance, and it was nice there was more to the plot than just romance.

Side note: I wanna ☠️ Caroline Marsh too. (Things like this always saddens me because the harsh reality is that human trafficking is a very real thing.)
I’m glad that Fallon had her two amazing best friends looking out for her as well.

I’m looking forward to the next book coming out later this year.

Oh. My. What a bloody book
Theodore is cocky, arrogant, misunderstood and has no right in being so alpha at his young age 🥵
Fallon is beautiful and all she wants is to be loved, but the old saying cruel to kind was the deciding factor in their relationship.
I absolutely adored these two, their chemistry, their angst, their friendship group and above all, their darkness and the love they felt for each other.
I was lost for words when the explosions happened.... not just 1 but 2! 2 mic drop moments.
I'm excited for the next book in this series.
And I want to talk about how stunningly beautiful the cover is. I'm in love and need it on my shelf.
A massive congratulations to your book baby 💜🖤💜

I really enjoyed this debut book by Violet Paige. Firstly, the cover is absolutely stunning!
Secondly, the story. I loved it! The dynamic between the 2 main characters Fallon and Theodore was great. There chemistry and bond undeniable! 🔥

I liked how Fallon was less alpha but more chilled and easygoing. She's true to herself and did things her way! Theo is just something else but in the best possible way. 🔥 An alpha through and through. Which makes them so good for each other.

Really liked the flow and pacing of the story and how it all unravels. By the end it all falls into place and showed to love they have for each other was unbreakable. It has left me wanting more!

Very excited to see what come next in this series.

This is a university (not college, because we're British) bully romance.
Not only does it have a second chance trope but it also has what I'm going to call frenemies-to-lovers.

Theo is a dark soul; a possessive, controlling alpha hole with a burning passion.

Fallon would be classed as a plus size FMC as she is referenced as being a British size 16; lots of plus size FMC have time focusing on their weight/shape/size but not Fallon - she has gorgeous self-confidence and owns every curve.

I thought I had a good grasp on where the plot was going, but at about 85%, holy plot twist Batman! This book took a massive blind corner on what had previously been just a slightly winding road, brilliant set-up for book 2 but infuriating to be left hanging waiting for the next instalment!

It was a good read. I don’t think the entire reason for the “bullying” (tormenting?) was founded. It was kinda stupid- but then again I don’t know what rich people are into (children apparently- side note: wtf).
Double side note- the fact that he (a 19 y/o) took her virginity (A SIXTEEN YEAR OLD) kinda creeped me out ngl.
There were a few grammatical errors that took me out of the story, but I can forgive that bc I have the grammar of a child.

All in all, if your looking for a quick read, smut, a possessive hero, and a touch of pedophilia- then this is the book for you.

(That was a joke btw, if you are into children then kindly jump off a large bridge)

Play By The Rules by @authorvioletpaine

This was another dark romance and another favourite hitting home run.
I loved the concept of rules and I somewhat hated Theo for treating Fallon the way he did but after knowing his reasons I couldn't help but fall in love with him.
He is such dominant possessive man yet still akid by heart ❤️.
Although Teddy name couldn't be anymore contradictory for Theo.
I loved how Fallan defies every rule and never to back down in front of crazy girls.
I really loved that how for a change FC is standing up to the queen bee and how is handles the case. She is so witty and sassy.

I really couldn't believe that this was debut novel. It was superb and sooooo amazing.
@authorvioletpaine so seriously got some dangerous ideas and I'm gonna have so much fun reading them ☺️

Such an interesting book…. I liked how they had the best friends turned sort of enemies to lovers trope. I loved the storyline. Fallon is a strong female character who I quite enjoyed reading about. Teddy was the alpha anti-hero this book needed. I liked the backstory and sort of understood the main points behind some of the things that took place. I liked that they had growth potential throughout. I enjoyed their friend groups and how close they were to them. It was a bit of an emotional read towards the end. I’m looking forward to knowing more about them and getting some answers. Also looking forward to Betty and Gages story next. Overall it was quite captivating.

“Beam me up, Scotty, because I am f💋cked.”

This book seemed at first like a typical university bully romance, but holy plot-twist Batman. Theodore and Fallon truly are “endgame”. It was a great coming of age read with lots of spice, a deliciously dark, depraved romance, and great characters. Everyone needs a Betty and Noah in their lives.

I cannot wait to continue this story in the rest of the Eyam Green Academy series!

I could not put this book down. I adore the friendships Fallon has and how good they are to her. I also like the friendships Theo has, even if they can be gross teenage boys on several occasions. Their dynamics, while very different, make a lot of sense in the story. The spice is.... just right. The ending blew my mind in the best way possible. I absolutely cannot wait for the 2nd book.

My only critique is to slow down the personality changes. While I love who they become, it would be more believable if it was more over time.

LOVED this book!
Its a fast paced easy read. Its a friends to lovers/bully/dark/spicy/dominant-submissive kind of book all thrown into one. There are some triggering topics, yes the way Theo treats Fallon being one of them and no this book wont be for everyone. But i loved reading how they fell in love and eventually seeing Theo's soft side.
I also loved how this story was based in the UK. Being from the UK myself, i found it somewhat comforting reading this book.
Im excited to read Betty and Gage's story next!

This was a great debut novel. The story pulled me in from the first chapter and I didn't want to stop until I was done. I wish there was more!

I loved Fallon and Theodore's interactions, and the whole love/hate push/pull of their relationship. They were both tough in their own way, and I enjoyed it immensely when Fallon stood up for herself.

The supporting characters were great, also. I'd love more of a glimpse into their lives.

Can't wait to read more from this author!
