Victoria

Rate this book
Victoria is the symbol of the intelligent, resourceful and independent woman who starts a family with an ordinary man, because that is the way it is done in the village and because that is what she is suggested to do, once she reaches the age of adulthood. People also marry for the reason of associating with someone to help each other in their labors, to be able to work all the land they would otherwise have to alienate. If there are no other sparks between the two to bind them, or when these, even if they once existed, disappear, the marriage will be a common one, without ups and downs, until the indifference turns into almost hatred in tense moments. This is the model of the traditional Romanian family, in which Victoria fit for many years of her life.
When her heart flutters and she discovers the beauty of life, she doesn't have the courage to follow her instincts. Her obstacles are, perhaps, the fear of the new, the children, the old father and everything that she can raise as an obstacle on the way to happiness.
Only the approach of death, the realization that life is as fragile as porcelain and hangs by a thread, gives her the strength to be how she feels like, to take hold of her life and direct it to the desired path, to fight for the woman she loves. Because, sometimes, it turns out to be too late.
