As a single mom and business owner, dating is the last thing on my mind. Then Nate walks into my bar. There’s something about him that intrigues me, and I can’t deny my attraction to him. I’ve never felt this way about a man before, so when he asks me out on a date, of course I say yes. But Nate’s only in town for a short time. How far can our relationship really go? I have one job to do––find the domestic terrorist Cole Security sent me to find. But when I meet Shawna, I can’t help the way I feel about her. We have incredible chemistry, and I find myself falling for her––hard. There’s just one problem––she doesn’t know who I really am, or the real reason I’m here. When she finds out the truth, she may never talk to me again.
C.L. Collier is a USA Today Bestselling Author who lives in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. She was raised in the Seattle area, and although she lives closer to Portland, Oregon now, she frequently visits the hometown she loves. When she’s not writing, you can find her reading, watching her favorite sports teams, spending time with her family, or going to concerts. She likes her music loud, wine and coffee sweet, and her books steamy.
This is the first book I have read by this author and I totally loved her writing style and characters. Shawna is a young mother whose parents were so supportive of her and helped her raise her son. She is strong-willed and wants to always do what's best. She owns and runs the bar that her dad did and she enjoys it and the patrons. Never a dull moment. When two strangers walk in and take a seat she feels an instant connection with one of them. Nate is in town to do a job for Cole Security. What he doesn't expect is the one person he needs to question to have such a connection. They can't stay away their chemistry is that good. What happens though when the ghost comes out to haunt them? Will they be able to fall in love will the reason for Nate being there destroy it all? Totally loved these two.
Shawna’s life is focused on being a single mother to son Noah and managing the family bar after her father passed away. When Nate comes into town on a business trip she is drawn to him in a way she never expected but will the secrets he holds destroy what they could have together before it ever begins?
Nate has transitioned from his career as a Navy SEAL and is now working at Cole Security. He has come to town to track down a dangerous man so getting involved in a personal relationship with Shawna and her son is a complication he should avoid but that is proving to be easier said than done.
Suspense, secrets and steam as all is not as it appears both when it comes to Shawna’s present and her past.
Another addition to the Salvation Society. I am new to the author so wasn’t sure what to expect. I do enjoy reading and finding new authors. So far I have enjoyed every book I have read in addition to the series. This is Shawna and Nate’s story and it certainly was a good addition. It has a bit of everything and will grab you in. It has a bit of suspense and a dash of intrigue which will have you reading page after page. It has some hot chemistry and some heartbreak which will give you the emotions you may want in a book. It’s a great combination of what you want in a romance book. Highly recommend you read.
This was the first book I've read by this author but wow. It kept me on my toes and wanting to know what was going to happen next. The twists and turns kept me turning pages. The chemistry between the main characters was on fire, add in a side of a 7yo cuteness and it was all around fantastic. I'm so glad this book was recommended to me and I can't wait to read more by this author.
This was a sweet slow burn and my first book by author C.L. Collier. I really enjoyed it. I would love to get an extended epilogue and see how life turned out for Hate and Shawna.
I am a sucker for a single mom romance. Add in chemistry and I am hooked. Shawna and Nate had amazing chemistry and I loved him with him and her son. There is suspense and danger thrown in which balances out the story.
I stayed up way too late to finish it. I loved it! Good chemistry between characters and plot development. Enough scene descriptions that I could 'see' it but not so much that it felt clunky. I am a dialogue reader and need good dialogue and banter.
This relationship between Shawna and Nate was such a good one- but I do feel like it did come from nowhere. It wasn’t as believable in the beginning when the romance was starting to brew- but once they had their first date, I did feel more like this was a good relationship. I loved the plot and the character developments from Shawna and Nate with their dating history and how Shawna had to protect her child from danger. She was such a wonderful mother throughout this novel.
The part I really didn’t enjoy was the ending. If you’ve read it- you probably know what I mean. I didn’t like how the whole thing with his dad and him happened. I didn’t like how Nate’s job was only seemed like it was 1/2 of the story when it was a HUGE chunk.
