Raised in Colorado, LeAnna Shields learned from an early age to create characters. It wasn't until she reached her teen years that she learned how much fun it was to bring these characters to life on paper.
Third in the series and again a great read. Setting, characters, plot and traditions, the mix of myths and reality, the fantastical and the real. Recommended read.
This book is such a great addition to this series. The storyline draws the reader in with a mystery that is well plotted and engaging. The characters are magical individuals with their own species traditions and in some cases prejudices. How they work through the issues to come together for the wedding of the main characters is the backbone of this wonderful read!
I received an arc of this book and voluntarily provided a review.
When a five-hundred-year-old curse and a murder threaten to ruin a much-anticipated wedding that will join two families with a checkered history, the bride and groom take action to save the day. A murder mystery that is part romance, and part fantasy, Curses and Vows, the third book in the Mystic Ranch Cozy Mysteries Series, does not disappoint. The story moves at a comfortable pace that gives readers a chance to invest in the characters. Curses and Vows will capture the imagination of readers who enjoy a love story fueled by a mixture of fantasy and reality and believe that things are not always what they appear to be. LeAnna Shields has written a cleverly plotted tale that deftly weaves ribbons of fantasy into a taut plot driven by love, loss, trust, family ties, and the inner strength one must summon to face adversity created by both human fallibility and fate. Shield’s detailed descriptions of local geography, food, animals, flora and fauna, folklore, and family traditions add to the authenticity of the tale. The imaginative story is filled with a mixed cast of flawed humans and fantasy, yet believable characters who drive the plot. Readers find themselves rooting for the protagonists from the beginning to the end of the tale. The characters evoke strong emotions in readers right from page one. This reader found herself wanting to hug the protagonists on one page and throttle them on the next. Shields creates enough conflict with a backstory to keep readers turning the pages to see how it all turns out. This terrific book has more than earned the five-star rating this reader has given it.
Sabiya wedding seems to be going too smoothly until an uninvited guest from the past is murdered which sets off a five hundred old curse. She and Bridger will end up investigate the case to save their perfect day.
