*PART ONE OF A DUET*

No good ever comes from a red-head in a stolen dress with her worldly possessions at her feet.

I should have known she was trouble when smoke and sin followed her into my bar and she challenged me to a game.

She may have won my watch, but she started a war.

As she slipped my Breitling off my wrist and onto her own, she gleefully announced she was the luckiest girl in the world.

Yeah, lucky to everyone but me.

Because the moment her muddy boots stomped down the stairs and up my spine, my empire started to crumble.

My cashmere charm is wrinkling.

My gentlemanly facade is cracking.

My enemies are closing in.

Maybe the gypsy was right:

The Queen of Hearts will drag me down to hell.

At least it’s wonderfully warm among the flames.

DARK MAFIA ROMANCE - ENEMIES TO LOVERS - AGE GAP - SLOW BURN

***

SOMME’S NOTES:

Sinners Condemned is part one of a duet, and because of this, it ends on a cliffhanger. Rafe & Penny’s story continues in Sinners Consumed, which will be out September 7.

For a better reading experience, please read Sinners Anonymous before reading Sinners Condemned.

You should know that I write dark romance, and my stories–including this one–aren’t for the faint of heart. They contain several triggers, so aren’t suitable for everyone.

HOW DOES IT GET BETTER WITH EVERY REREAD?!!!! Forever will be one of the best mafia books EVER. Rafe and Penny own my soul. RAFE VISCONTI THE MAN THAT YOU ARE!!!!! No I’m actually so unwell he has no business being so fine. Fictional mafia men do it better I don’t make the rules. Rafe will always be my favorite Visconti brother. I actually think he makes my brain short circuit, I can’t explain it don’t ask I’m unwell.

———————————-

Nobody talk to me. This was so good to the point where I’m pissed that Rafe Visconti is in fact fictional. Im sat. I am so down bad for this man it’s not even funny. Everything I want from a dark mafia romance and then some. No notes. I feel like this is such an underrated mafia series. Like I’m sorry he literally picks her up in the middle of the night and drives around aimlessly and works from his car so she can sleep safely in the back seat. Don’t talk to me my heart hurts.

There’s just something I love so much about a man who gets so violently angry because she consumes his every thought even though she’s supposed to be his downfall.

Penny is that bitch I’m OBSESSED with her. I think I giggled and kicked my feet the entire time reading this book. Oh my god does Somme Sketcher know how to do a fucking SLOW BURN!!!! I can’t even handle it, we are still burning going into book 2 of this duet.

I surprisingly really enjoyed reading it, despite the fact that I have a felling that The Made series was kind of an inspiration for the author. Let’s be honest here nothing, nothing will beat Made, but this series is heading in the right direction with this book. As the first one was terrible. Comparing the second book to the first book you just have to admit that this one was better. I already can say that, RafePenny> AngeloRory, but also I have a feeling that GabeWren > RafePenny> AngeloRory, if you get it you have a taste.

If you like reading about the hotheaded heroine and the obsessed hero, go and read it. The banter between Rafe and Penny was literally perfect.

"I see Raphael’s irritated gaze fall to the small puddle I’ve created. “These seats are Nappa leather.”
“And my sweater is cotton.”
“What?”
“Thought we were naming fabrics no one gives a shit about.”

I wish there was more of their teasing because it was too good. I love their games, the car scene was freaking hot, like really freaking hot.

"Raphael looks up at me through dark lashes. “Take it off.”
“Costs extra.”
[...]
I realize it’s a Black Amex. My eyes clash with Raphael’s. “Pin is four, eight, four, two,” he says quietly.
He locks his fingers behind his head and leans back against the headrest. His gaze flashes like a warning sign. “Now, take it off.”

The rest is history. Most importantly, Rafe being obsessed with Penny’s thighs was- I can’t even describe it, just

Finally, there was some Gabe and Wren moments which give me more will to live. Can’t wait to read their books. They are getting a duet too.

Somme Sketcher has yet to fail me!! i thought the first book was phenomenal but THIS?!! this exceeded my expectations to an astronomical level. this is what i mean when i say i want a mafia dark romance!! it gave what it was supposed to give and 10x more!

the TEASING!! THE BANTER, THE SLOWWWW BURN! THE FUCKING TENSION y'all!??!!! the book is 430 pages with barely enough spice but yet i was in heat from the tension! i had a 3rd -degree burn on my hand from holding the book 🔥. i was blushing so hard i saw the color red. i need to be locked in a white room 🖐

i CRAVE Rafe in every possible way a woman is allowed to need/want a man. he's mine😫. he's scary but at the same time a mafia cutie wrapped in a pink bow🫠🎀. we love a man that is suffering, desperate, and tortured over his growing feelings for his girl that ISN'T EVEN HIS GIRL YET. the scene where she was stripping for him and he pulled out his amex black card and said '“pin is four, eight, four, two, “now, take it off.”' …literally made me see stars. like this man doesn't know how to function without penny in his orbit while his multi million business is falling apart

and Penny, omg! she knows she's that bitch! we finally have an FMC in the mafia world that has a backbone. smart-ass mouth, stands up for herself, and doesn't take shit. she doesn't even know the extent to which she has Rafe tightly wrapped around her fingers. this bitch was feral, sexy, and it's everything for me.

i'm so glad there is a duet 'cause i'm not ready for them to leave my brain. i had so much fun reading this. i need the next book to take all this built-up passion and slap me across the face with it.😝👌

4.5⭐️ Oh my goodness me this was fantastic. I thought the first book was good but then we move on to this masterpiece😩. The chemistry between these two characters was SOOO GOOD, and the SIDE CHARACTERS OH MY GOSH. The side characters were as amazing as the main characters. All I wanna do is read Gabe’s book and go back to Angelo and Rory’s and reread it. Somme Sketcher knows exactly what she’s doing my gosh.

One thing I would say though is that it was a little slow in some parts and the plot wasn’t as strong as I would like it to be; but other than that it was fantastic!😌

➳ A cartomancer told Rafe that a redheaded girl would bring him to his knees and be his doom card! Nine years later, Rafe met the redheaded little thief, aka Penny! 🤭

⤷ tropes: 🃏
* Enemies to lovers
* Office Romance
* Forced Proximity
* Touch Her & You Die
* Obsessed Hero
* Fiesty Heroine

➳ Their first interaction was hilarious, and I really enjoyed it! The banter between them was highly entertaining! Penny was full of sass, and Rafe never backed down from a challenge. 🤭

Penny (21): She is a thief and on the run for committing arson. She met Rafe at his bar and conned him into giving her his watch! Later, she works for him on his yacht as a bartender, and she believes she's lucky! 🍀

Rafe (34): He is a gentleman! Unlike his violent and impulsive brothers, he is the voice of reason, a devil hidden behind perfect suits and cufflinks! He owns the majority of the casinos and bars and is very successful! He was intrigued by Penny, but his business is going downhill, and he believes it's because of Penny and her bad luck! 😋

— Although this book was enjoyable, and I really liked the banter, what I didn't appreciate was Penny getting jealous of everyone! I understand that money is important (HELL, I understand this a lot 🥹) and that she has traumas and doesn't believe in love. However, it's still not okay to be jealous and petty over others' happiness! She regrets her past actions and is trying hard to live a better life. She's really alone and badly needs someone to confide in and thinks a lot about having friends. I mostly felt bad for her, but she's really strong! The experiences she has faced have shaped her character. Her character reminds me a lot of Georgia from "Ginny & Georgia." And Rafe! 🥹 He's so hot, I don't know 🤷🏻‍♀️ I enjoyed all his smirks and sarcasm in front of Penny! He doesn't act gentlemanly around her and is annoyed by her most of the book, but he can't stay away from her and stop being possessive! The man even punched his soldier for staring at Penny when he has never used his hands because, DUH, HE'S A GENTLEMAN! 🤭

— This book have a lot of banter! It's full of that and also height shaming lmaooooo! Penny is 5'2 and Rafe does not let her live with that fact! 😭

— It's dual POV and doesn't contain explicit sex scenes! If you're expecting a spicy book, it's not. It has a lot of sexual tension and a few bold scenes, but nothing more! 😮‍💨

— This book focused more on showing that THEY ARE ENEMIES and did not show sudden BODY BETRAYING SYNDROME, JUMPING INTO THE BED & the most popular fingerfucking. ☺️

Lastly, this book was kind of long! Not that I didn't enjoy it, but it was a little bit extra, and it's a duet! And honestly, there was no cliffhanger at the end 🙂

A whole lot of nothing happened in this book, I was expecting a lot more. I know that this book is a duet some holding out hope for the second book but when I tell you literally nothing happened in this book, I mean it. I mean, I guess everything that’s somewhat happened is leading up to the second book which I’m hoping well be a saving grace, but I mean, besides establishing a I relationship between rafe and penny, I have no other notes to add in the things this book did

OH. MY. GOD. This book literally SHOCKED me in the best way possible. I wasn’t expecting it to be this good, and honestly? I’m flattered, obsessed, and completely speechless all at once. Like… why didn’t I read this sooner?? I’ve been hunting for the perfect romance for ages, forgetting that dark romance is where the true yearning men live, and this book delivered in every single way.

This is exactly what I mean by slow burn: tension that makes you ache, chemistry that explodes off every page, a gradual, simmering love that grips your chest… but let me tell you, SLOW BURN, but make it EVEN SLOWER because AHHHHH. I was living for every second of this, and not a single crumb was left behind. And whoever said the “made series” is better than THIS? No. Absolutely NOT. I ate this up, savored every line, and I am officially obsessed. But I really wanted to enjoy that series, eventually it was just cringe characters and couldn't bare them.

── .✦

Okay, first of all… I literally don’t even know where to start because this book COMPLETELY wrecked me and left me absolutely shook, but in the best way imaginable. I went in thinking I was getting a spicy, dark, dangerous romance with just a hint of chaos… and oh honey, Somme Sketcher didn’t just give me a hint, she unleashed a full-on hurricane of emotions, tension, and fire that had me screaming internally. I’m completely obsessed. Every nerve in my body was on high alert, my heart racing, palms sweating, and jaw literally on the floor. I couldn’t tear my eyes away for a single second, fangirling so hard that I almost forgot to breathe. This story? It’s a full-throttle, all-consuming ride, and I am here for every second of it.

── .✦

Oh my god, the characters! I won't talk much let's just dive into them!

°˖➴ Penny Price:
"This girl isn’t the Queen of Hearts, but the Devil in disguise.
Unfortunately, I can’t say for sure I wouldn’t follow her into hell."

OH. MY. GOD. Penny Price is literally EVERYTHING!! She’s bold, sassy, and wickedly clever, the kind of heroine who makes you scream “YASS QUEEN!” every single time she outsmarts everyone around her. I was living for her fearless energy and that unstoppable spark she brings to every scene. Sure, she gets herself into trouble sometimes, but honestly? That just makes her even more badass and impossible not to root for. I swear, she’s the kind of girl you’d want as your bestie while lowkey fangirling over her every move. And the BEST part? Beneath that strong, untouchable exterior is this emotional depth that hits you without warning. I literally didn’t blink when she spoke or acted, and that, my friends, is peak FMC love.

°˖➴ Rafe Viscouti:
“Why do you care if I cry?”
“Because last night, I saw you laugh.”

And Rafe Visconti… ohhhhhh, don’t even get me started. Dark, broody, dangerous… but also with these hidden layers that make your heart melt like butter. I love that he’s this gentleman to the world, but with her? Yeah… let’s just say he’s a whole different level.

he’s that gorgeous, powerful, cashmere-charm-wrapping, gentlemanly façade type, whose world completely unravels the moment she shows up. I mean, my empire started crumbling just reading it. His calm, control, and subtle dominance versus her wild, fearless energy? Absolute fire. The tension, the banter, the unspoken threats and desires, every scene felt electric, like I was sitting in a storm and loving every second.

── .✦

The tension between them? OH, IT’S OFF THE CHARTS. Every glance lingers too long, every word drips with unspoken meaning, and every subtle touch feels electric. I was gripping my book, my heart racing, just from the way they moved around each other. Their dynamic is a perfect storm, messy, fiery, and utterly intoxicating. It’s the kind of chemistry that makes you sigh, swoon, and simultaneously panic because you just KNOW the consequences of their feelings are going to be explosive. Every scene together had me internally screaming, fangirling like mad, and craving more. Together, they destroy and rebuild each other in the most addictive, heart-stopping way imaginable, and I am 100% obsessed.

Also… can we talk about the utter chaos she brings? She’s lucky, yes, but the kind of luck that drags him through flames, forces him to face enemies closing in, and still makes me giggle and scream at the same time. Queen of Hearts indeed.

── .✦

The Writing:
And the writing? Absolute perfection. Darkly seductive, sharp, and addictively twisted, it pulls you in from the first line. Every sentence drips with tension, every small power move hits like a thrill, and every quiet moment between them leaves you craving more. It’s intoxicating, messy, and utterly satisfying, like the author knew exactly how to keep your heart racing and your mind hooked.

The Story:
What truly caught me off guard is how rich and layered this story is. It’s not just a romance; it delves into the complexities of two people struggling with their past mistakes, the weight of control over their lives and others, and the sacrifices they make for loyalty and trust. Every interaction carries emotional depth, and the tension isn’t just romantic, it’s woven into their very decisions, their fears, and their sense of responsibility. This adds a whole other level of intensity that keeps you completely hooked, feeling everything alongside them.

>>> ──────── .✦

ִֶָ𓂃 ࣪˖ ִִֶֶָ🥀་༘࿐ So I’ve been out here desperately trying to find the one, that romance book that calls my name, shakes my soul, and steals my sleep, but I think I’ve been looking in the wrong places this whole time. Which is exactly why I’m back… because I MISS the yearning in dark romance. The obsession. The tension. The ache. And who am I to resist when it’s literally what feeds me? Also, let’s be honest, I refuse to fall into a reading slump again because if that happens, I’m disappearing from the face of the earth.

Anyway, this book has been sitting on my radar ever since I finished the first one, and now I’m finally ready. I am already seated, strapped in, vibrating with anticipation, hehe. Maybe just maybe, this will end up being my favorite book in the entire series.

So let’s dive in, shall we? <𝟑 .ᐟ

Wow. Such a good surprise. After reading the first book and being really disappointed with it, I wasn’t expecting this! I am shocked over my current obsession with these two!

If i’m sinking to the bottom, at least her voice will keep me company on the way down.

╰┈➤ 9 years ago a cartomancer told Raphael to choose between the king of diamonds or the king of hearts, and he chose business over love. But his reading foresees a doom card where a red head will bring him down to his knees and crumble his empire. Fast forward to the present when Rafe meets the lucky Penny who swindles him from his watch and later comes to work for him. Amidst wild banter and games the tension between the two rises while Raphael’s empire slowly falls, all because of his doomed Queen of Hearts.

What you’re signing up for:
💋 Mafia romance
🃏 Enemies to lovers vibes
♥️ Boss x Employee
🔪 Touch her and die
♦️ Age gap
🎲 Slowest of burns

You know when you read a book that objectively isn’t the best but then gives you all the butterflies and feels, makes you giggle uncontrollably and gasp over the faintest of touches? Yep, this is that book for me! I don’t think it has the best plot but the romance has me in a chokehold!!

“You sure are persistent for a man that isn’t interested.” His gaze drops to my mouth.
“Oh, I’m interested.”

I don’t think it’s a true enemies to lovers but it gives off those vibes and angsty banter so well! From literally the first scene when Penny swindles Rafe their connection is off the charts! Ughhhh and then all the little games they played and bets they made accompanied by the best banter just to try and one up each other!!! 😩 Intensity done well!! I swear they had the best interactions! And the slow burn is scrumptious!!! The way Somme writes the scenes with the best kind of sexual tension without nothing even happening is gold! I was sweating over a few grazes and heated glances, I can’t even describe it. They are so hot and have the best chemistry ever!!! That car scene IYKYK 🥵🥵

“Bet you’ll kiss me first.”
“Bet you a million dollars my lips would never touch yours first.”
“You don’t have a million dollars.”
“Doesn’t matter, because I’m not going to lose.”

𐙚—♥️ Penny is such a great character. Nothing like annoying Rory from the first book! She has a dark past but is still so strong and striving to do her best and keep her head above water. She’s feisty, bratty, mouthy, sexy and has the best comebacks!

“Why do you care if I cry?”
“Because last night, I saw you laugh.”

𐙚—🎲 RAPHAEL VISCONTI!!!! Oh my gosh, I’m in love! Instantly obsessed! Unlike his brothers he doesn’t get his hands bloodied because he’s a gentleman, unless it comes to her! Because he doesn’t act like a gentleman around her and if someone even looks at her the wrong way he’s not afraid to get blood on his hands!

“Just because I'm a gentleman, Penelope, doesn't always mean I'm a gentle man.”

Ughhh he’s just so hot with all his smirking and sarcasm! He makes the simplest thing look like the hottest thing ever! (talking specifically when he demonstrated very not sexually how to open a champagne bottle! Deceased was my status after reading that! 🫠) AND HIS MOUTH, don’t even!!

“Strip for another man again, and he’ll die crossing the road.”

The plot could be so much better though! Just like with the first book there’s a lot of potential, especially after how things ended but nothing much is done with that. I just wish there was a better balance between plot and romance. If I wasn’t so invested in the characters this would’ve been a miss.

“Or maybe I just want to see you shut your dick in a car door.”
“Or maybe you just want to see my dick.”

And for the part that really grates my nerves: why the hell did the author completely change the plot with Penny and Rafe from the first book to this one? Let me explain. In the last chapter of Sinners anonymous Angelo sees a red head who’s doing a terrible job at being a waitress and approaches her to fire her, she tries to run and in comes Rafe. Even though they don’t say her name it’s made pretty obvious from the interactions between them that it’s Penny. And besides this Angelo says she’s the one who sold him the fortune cookie. And then in the second book this whole plot is erased and swapped. I understand that after writing it maybe the author wanted to write a different first meeting, but she could still’ve done that and still have this scene! Honestly I think it could’ve been even better in some ways. I was so annoyed because I was waiting for it and it never came. And what pissed me off even more was the fact that she and Angelo apparently never met. Ugh it could’ve been such an interesting plot. I was able to look past it and still love the book, but I still wanted to address this massive plot hole because I never see anyone talking about it. I mean, is my book different?

Also, I don’t understand why this is a duet. If there was a plot that needed development or something happened between them I could’ve understood the decision for it. But there isn’t even a cliffhanger!!!

Still, this is such an amazing romance, that’s sure to leave you ultimately yearning for more in the end!

4 Play a Game With Me Stars ⭐

You could say it's an evenly matched game of cat & mouse. She's mouthy and bratty and in so much trouble that Penny no longer recognises the right way up. Everytime she swears it's the last, there's one more temptation. The perfect thief in a pretty package. Until she trys to con the conman. This will be the biggest risk of them all.

This girl isn’t the Queen of Hearts, but the Devil in disguise. Unfortunately, I can’t say for sure I wouldn’t follow her into hell.

Rafe Visconti is a gentleman, well that's the perception. He stopped getting blood on his hands years ago. But only an idiot would mistake his persona for weakness. He's mafia through and through. The king of casinos, gambling and games. Until he meets Lady Luck or is it possibly doom?

The chemistry and instant connection over the first swindle is intense. As they try to one up each other, you know it's the beginning of a tumultuous affair. Every encounter feels inevitable and every interaction is a wager, never knowing who will triumph.

The issue with a duet that ends in a cliffhanger means you either get a flushed out story or a fair bit of waffling, and Sinners Condemned was the latter. It's true that this series is slow burn Mafia romance (and it really is) and there was too much tension, not enough action in my opinion. I could of used more sex! However, I can't epmhasise enough how good the witty dialogue is! It's fucking top notch.

i am OBSESSED with penny and rafe.

this is a major slow burn, like mariana zapata but make it mafia, but my god the TENSIONNNNNN.

penny is one of my favorite heroine’s ever. she’s such a badass and has no qualms about stealing from rich men so we kneel before our queen 🤭

i love that they can’t stay away from each other and i loooove that rafe is trying to be on the straight and narrow but the made man in him is creeping out.

on to book two 🏃🏻‍♀️ and then i need gabe (who ends the book being shirtless and covered in blood so we know i’m obsessed) and wren asap

reread 11/19/22 - amazing. show-stopping. rafe & penny are everything

5/5 ☆

"𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬𝐧'𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝."
𝐇𝐢𝐬 𝐠𝐚𝐳𝐞 𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐲 𝐦𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡. "𝐎𝐡, 𝐈'𝐦 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝."

SO GOOD. I haven't read a mafia series that I liked in a while, but this has just became an all time favorite. Rafe and Penny are everything. If you like The Made Men Series by Danielle Lori, you'll love this. Honestly, it was even better and that's a bold statement since I LOVE The Made Men. If you didn't enjoy book 1, you'll enjoy this one much more.

This book follows Rafe, brother to Angelo, and Penny, a friend of Rory's who returns home to Devil's Cove after an incident in Atlantic City. Penny has been on her own since her parents died, conning rich men and doing whatever it takes to survive. When she runs into Rafe one night in attempt to con him out of his expensive watch, there is no denying the attraction (and fear) she has for him. Eventually, she gets hired at one of his casinos and their relationship develops from there.

This is your typical "MMC denies his attraction towards the FMC, but eventually realizes he's obsessed with her" trope. Rafe acts as if he doesn't want her, but deep down, he knows Penny is his weakness. Their tension throughout this whole book was so, so good and was written incredibly well. I found myself giggling and smiling at how much they flirted with each other. Penny is a strong character and isn't afraid to stand up for herself. Loved her personality and how well she matches Rafe. We also get to see Rory and Angelo in this book (I absolutely adored the little snippets of them) and the relationship that Rory built with the Visconti family. This book also picked up a lot faster than book 1, which I think warrants a second chance if you didn't like book 1.

I cannot wait for Sinners Consumed and to read the rest of Rafe and Penny's story. This had all of my favorite tropes. Seriously - READ THIS SERIES!!

Tropes:
-Age gap (FMC is 21, MMC is 34)
-Mafia romance
-Small town romance
-Slow burn + a touch of enemies to lovers
-So. Much. Tension.

The story was kinda repetitive with nothing much going on, however, I kinda enjoyed it more than the first book. I always love it when a couple has “their thing”, something theirs that turns into a habit. and those two had that.

Like, They’re both into playing games and don’t know how to say no to a bet. Also, The fact that he knew she couldn’t sleep, so he would drive her around in his car till she falls asleep then park somewhere and work on his phone, oh and when she complained that it could’ve been more comfortable he brought her a pillow and a blanket the next time? the fact that she knows that his gentleman act is just a facade. Her wearing his watch around like the perfect prize. And All their talk about luck!

As I said this has no plot and a lot of repetitive things. It took me a while to get into it and I wasn’t sure that I’d end up liking them, but as I said I liked those small things they have together.

💃🏻🧎🏻‍♀️‍➡️🦝

The way Penny walks this man like a Dog. Iconic.
"That wouldn't be very gentlemanly of me Penelope.. Do you want me to be a gentleman to you Penelope?"

SCREAMING ENDLESSLY with you manas has made my whole week actually. Can't wait to do it again with book 3.

I did miss the male narrator from sinners anonymous but it was still fun. Here for the vibes, here for Rafe, here for Penny, here to loose my mind over this pathetic mafia man, basically I am here for the whole goddamn thing.
Thoughts remain the same as below, and some.

Listen, this was so good, I don’t even know what to tell you, I am obsessed with Rafe and Penny. They took tension, mixed it with hot and bothered and sprinted with it.
I actually think I passed away during the lap dance chapter.
“Strip for another man again, and he’ll die crossing the road” NAH I’M DONE.

Rafe Visconti is THE mafia man you need in your life, trust. I will never tire of these mafia guys folding. Anyway, Penny, I actually think I’m also in love with her. Sassy queen!!
Their banter and dynamic is everything.

I say this with my entire being, a good dark mafia romance can fix even the biggest of slumps. It’s fact.

Yet again, me squealing over words on paper.
“Careful calling me boss when you’re half naked, Penelope, I might just get the wrong idea.”

She hates every girl except Laurie, surprisingly the only one who doesn’t want to bang Rafe.
(Guess what, the heroine is bad if not worse than the girls she hates…for the same reasons she hates them for, going for the same guy. )
It’s giving ‘I have only guy friends because it’s way less drama’
What irks me is that the only female/s she gets on with is a Visconti. It’s giving ‘unless a Visconti man deems you’re special enough, I’m not interested in being your frIeNd’
Perfect nose. Perfect face. Perfect thigh to bum to stomach to boobs ratio whilst also “I’m not like other girls. I don’t eat leafy salad” I’m a real woman because I don’t care about how I look to men/others and I have cuRves…yeah, miraculously in all the right places sis! *rolls eyes*
It was trying to give ‘I hate all men’ but instead it was giving, ‘I have one brain cell and it’s fixated on one man.’
Another story with covert/overt pick me ism whilst claiming characters to be so diFfeRent. It’s pick me ism just done in a different way. It baffles me that in 2022, authors can’t write strong female leads without the internalised misogyny/internalised sexism of bashing other women.
The hero?
“I’m no better than my dumb lackey.” You said it!
He’s so childish. So juvenile. Soooo boring. All he’s got going for him, is his money. I can see why the heroine has to be 21.
The whole story was a whole lotta nothing. Seriously.
Nothing happens.

4.75⭐️ This isn’t a review this is me ranting about how much I LOVED THIS. And that’s so unlike me! I always have beef with mafia books because it always turn out cringy but THIS ONE! I enjoyed the first book but this one i fell in love. I wouldn’t know if it’s repetitive because i am new to the genre and i guess i won’t be into it after this series i am attached to only these characters and universe because it could have gone wrong and but here i am kicking in my bed (i am so dramatic)

Here’s how my brain works: his name is Rafe right? So Rafe Cameron? But the attitude was giving Elijah Mikealson. I am a Klaus girly but i ate that trope up (he is the gentleman, wears suits, the big brains and respectful) but when he kills because someone looked at her? i was truly blushing at the small gestures before anything else. I’d say i have read it at the right time for me to enjoy it? (Right time,Right book) and that’s very rare so let me enjoy the high.

What i really like about those books is the tension. They haven’t done the deed yet it’s so spicy? The tension is spicy? Imagine then the smut? I will lose my mind!! And Penelope.. girl is so hot she is everything i want to be. The confidence, the sass and thank god she isn’t the “ i am not like other girls” despite her being really such a different FMC to read about.

Loved the Rory and Angelo cameos, first couple in the book always feel different regardless of how their book is they’re just the OG so i enjoyed seeing them! And Gabe. GABE! Heard his book is him and Wren and that’s giving major good girl x bad bad bad boy vibes, i don’t know how i am going to act when his book is out i am so EXCITED for him!! I have a soft spot for grumpy, big boy and scars!!!

Oh also, this was a workplace romance which is a trope i don’t mind if it’s well written and this was everything i wanted and more! But her calling him “yes sir” and he told her “it’s yes boss”.. you can be the boss daddy you can be the boss!!!!

Baby. This just scooted up into my top favourite mafia romances. The sexual tension was insane and we know I love a baddie—Penny was epic. Let’s see what book two entails, shall we?

This girl isn’t the Queen of Hearts, but the Devil in disguise.
Unfortunately, I can’t say for sure I wouldn’t follow her into hell.

⤿This was honestly so so good, their dynamic is so hot, This had me giggling so much. I can't wait to finish the sequel. 😻😻

💕 Rafe: Raphael Motherfuckin' Visconti. He's so damn hot I can't y'all. If the sequel goes well he might just be at the top of my book bf list.

I love how he was a gentleman to every woman ever, except for Penelope 😭. Like she got the dangerous side which is hotter tbh. Okayyyy but can we talk about how he never hit/killed anyone for NINE YEARS but then someone touches penelope and he kills them. Likeeeeeeee🤭🤭🤭🤭 🫶 🫶

I love the little games they played, like they got to know more about eachother while we simultaneously got to know more about them. They're so competitive ughhh.

I love love loveeee Rafe's dynamic with Rory, it's so cute. And Gabe's dynamic with Rafe ughh they're all perfect 😻

💕 Penny: Ugh I love herrrrr. She's on the run because she burnt down a Casino 😻😻😻😻 Like yesssss divaaaaaaa.
SHE KNOWS HOW TO PICKPOCKET AND SHE'S LIKE MEGA COOL. NO CUZ LIKE SHE'S SO HOT.

But she's also been through so much ☹️
It's always the coolest people with the worst trauma.

I love that her whole thing is that she's lucky, and  she won basically every game they played together.

Their dynamic is honestly so hot, they haven't gotten into like a relationship or anything yet but the tension is tensioning.

I didn't like the ending and how it just...ended. I expected it to be more "mysterious" especially considering it said it's a cliffhanger at the beginning of the book. I don't know I feel like it could have been done differently but that's just me.

I'm gonna binge the sequel in the next 2 days, probably. I really like this series tbh. So much mafia stuff going on. I can't wait for gabe's books aswell. They get released on the 17th of October they're gonna be so good I know it. 😻

5/5 stars. Can't help it, don't want to help it either. Initially i was feeling a little hesitant to rate this 5 stars, but I'm not going to deny a book its proper rating just because of the genre it belongs to.
This book had me bombarding Stephanie with updates the likes of "screaming in my pillow", "UGH these two", "the tension *chef's kiss*" etc. so ... there's that.
I already enjoyed Sinners Annonymous so much, but I felt like i loved Rafe and Penny even more. She's a proper badass, makes him eat his words over and over again, makes him beg, is always up for the challenge that is their banter and I could rarely guess who would walk out of a confrontation having the upper hand. And Rafe? That man is pure fire. He likes to uphold that ice-cold facade, but don't be fooled, there's a devil inside and he's breaking loose.

That being said, this is a slowburn if I've ever read one of the dark mafia genre. If you need story to progress faster, this might not be your favourite read. Also, if you value the fast progression of the plot over the slow developement between two characters. It's not too spicy, but the scenes there are? Ooof!

I'd definitely recommend reading Sinners Anonymous before this.

Can I just say how much I loved this, once more? Thank you. Now I'm done.

Now to wait another two days for the second book in the duet like the amateur I am for not checking the publication date earlier.

NO DLACZEGO TO JEST ROZBITE NA 2 TOMY????
Trzej bracia no to trzy książki nie?

4.5 stars. Can I just say that… this is the most well written mafia themed book? Like the plot is well executed and chemistry isn’t just forced proximity like arranged marriage. I genuinely enjoyed this and the ending left me intrigued enough to jump into next book immediately. I’m glad I read at least more than 3 decent books in October slump madness.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Second read: Gabe somehow knows everything about everyone lmao he was teasing Angelo and now he’s taunting Rafe 😭😭😭😭
