Admitted tech geek, entrepreneur, cyclist and inveterate storyteller, JK Franks’ world was formed by a childhood spent in the rural South growing up during the Space Age. This is when he developed a love for writing. He also became an avid student of history and science, and a regular reader of reference books and biographies. Once he discovered science fiction he never looked back.

His protagonists are human: not superheroes, just normal people with the same problems as everyone else, but who rise to challenges when they come along. The Catalyst series combines his passion for hard science fiction with his outlook on self-reliance.

I love this story!

I really don't have any critique for this. For me, it was just a terrific story with great characters. I had a hard time putting it down.

Well written

Good characters and action. Focused story that keeps you interested. I'm looking forward to the next installment coming in July.

Purely junk food. Lots of spelling and grammar errors, and in one spot it inexplicably changes from third person to first person in the same paragraph.

The main character, Kovach, spends the final third of the book slowly dying and complaining about how hard it is to keep going, but the suit keeps him going with injections (stimulants and pain killers). The “cliffhanger” at the end is no great mystery (it’s more of an annoyance, since a solution to Kovach’s need for medicine is hinted at more than once).

The question of who initiated the attack is never answered, but the arms company that did all the genetic research creating monsters is far from blameless.

great starter in a new series!

Really enjoyed the story. A lot of characters, but they were described so they were easy to keep straight and remember
