Christy Barritt is an author, freelance writer and speaker who lives in Virginia. She’s married to her Prince Charming, a man who thinks she’s hilarious—but only when she’s not trying to be. Christy’s a self-proclaimed klutz, an avid music lover who’s known for spontaneously bursting into song, and a road trip aficionado. She’s only won one contest in her life—and her prize was kissing a pig (okay, okay… actually she did win the Daphne du Maurier Award for Excellence in Suspense and Mystery also). Her current claim to fame is showing off her mother, who looks just like former First Lady Barbara Bush
When she’s not working or spending time with her family, she enjoys singing, playing the guitar, and exploring small, unsuspecting towns where people have no idea how accident prone she is.

Bound by Disaster is book two in the Beach Bound Books & Beans series by Christy Barritt. Working on her new bookstore, Talitha Robinson was asked by an author to endorse his unfinished suspense novel. He would take Talitha's answer and leave the manuscript with her. Unbeknownst to Talitha Robinson, there are dangers inside the manuscript. When a body turned up on Lantern Beach, Talitha Robinson started investigating. When it began to be too close to home, Mac MacArthur's feelings for Talitha Robinson caused him to become involved in the investigation. The readers of Bound by Disaster will continue to follow Talitha Robinson and Mac MacArthur to discover what happens.

Bound by Disaster is the second book I read in the Beach Bound Books & Beans series by Christy Barritt. I engaged with this cozy mystery from the first page and continued to the end. I enjoyed Christy Barritt's written style and the way she portrays her characters and their interactions with each other through this book. Bound by Disaster is well-written and researched by Christy Barritt. I like Christy Barritt's description of the settings of Bound by Disaster, which complemented the book's plot.

The readers of Bound by Disaster will understand the problems new authors face when publishing their books. Also, the readers of Bound by Disaster will learn about the consequences of real estate fraud.

I recommend this book.

Bound by Disaster by Christy Barritt is a quick, mystery filled with a dead body and a mystery writer who comes under suspicion. The writing is in typical Barritt fashion with plenty of mystery and enough dialogue and description to keep the readers glued to the final scene where the villain is revealed. A budding romance between the heroine and another person in town rounds out the romantic parts of the story. A new book club featuring some returning faces was a nice addition to the book. Overall, Bound by Disaster by Christy Barritt has a beautiful cover with a delightful mystery inside.

I received a complimentary copy of Bound by Disaster by Christy Barritt, but the opinions stated are all my own.

A dead woman washes up on shore; murders in an unfinished book are being copied, and the targets are chillingly familiar. It seems that her new book club members are the stars!

Tali is hiding from the truth in her painful past and now blames Mac (the mayor and former chief of police) despite their growing affection for each other. But the killer has put her neck deep in this murder investigation--how can she keep her distance from Mac?

A heap of danger and a wisp of romance
are both menacing Tali in this second novella, and her bookstore is still a construction zone!

This is a two-pronged mystery because there's also a vacation home rental scam, so there's a little more going on, but we still don't know more about Tali than that she startles easily and is concerned about her friends. Still no substance about the characters!

I'm not sure I like Tali. I'm not judging her reasons for her past choices. She's like a small boat with an inadequate anchor; the waves move her around too much. There's nothing solid except that she's nice.

3.4/5

This was a great continuation of Tali and Mac's story. I love these two characters!

After the shocking revelation of a connection from their pasts, (talk about awkward!) Mac and Tali are doing their best to avoid one another. But when a killer shows up on the island and seems to be taking cues from an unpublished manuscript that Tali just received, they work together to try and stop the murderer from striking again.

The mystery was great and kept me guessing. I had my suspicions about the culprit, but there were plenty of other suspects with just as much motive.

I can't wait for the next book! I'm excited to see what mysteries Mac and Tali encounter next.

My thoughts: BOUND BY DISASTER is book 2 in this cozy mystery series by Christy Barritt. The books can be read alone, but there is an underlying thread. Ms. Barritt is a prolific author who writes stories that are quick reads. Fans will want to pick this book up to find out what trouble finds Tali, her dog, and her friends next. I didn't guess who-dun-it until it was revealed. I was given a copy free and all opinions are my own.

Tali is busy renovating her bookstore when news spreads that a body has washed up on the shore of Lantern Beach. Meanwhile, a strange author has approached Tali, asking her to read and promote his new book. As Tali looks into the manuscript the author left for her, she realizes that the first death in his book parallels the way the woman on the beach died. Mac hasn't spoken to Tali since discovering a link between them in their past that has caused a rift between them. But when the woman on the shore has the cover of the mysterious author's book on her body, Mac begins to worry about Tali. When more chapters in the book start to become reenacted, Mac and Tali put their differences aside to solve the case before they reach the deadly final chapter.

This is the second book in the Beach Bound Books and Beans Mysteries series. This is a continuation of the characters from book one but the mystery is all new. I really enjoyed the mystery in this one because I have always enjoyed the trope of a killer following along with what happens in a book/script. Mac and Tali weren't as close in this one because of their discovered link from the past but they still worked well together to solve the case. Tali still trusted Mac to protect her and Mac trusted her judgement on the case. I also loved the dog, Sugar's moments throughout. Overall, a great follow up in this fun, cozy mystery series.

This is just a fun sweet mystery/suspense series and this book is no exception.

I love the spunk of Tali as she navigates life and mysteries on Lantern Beach.

I especially enjoyed the Erwin character (and not just because that's my husband's name) but the quirkiness of him as an author. It would be fun to see more of him in the future.

Watching the relationship between Tali and Mac was a little heartbreaking but knowing there are more books to come in this series I'm sure everything will work out in the end. But Barritt is giving us the ups and downs of their relationship along the way.

Although this is somewhat of a suspense or mystery it's more laid back that other series by the author. It is just an enjoyable and quick read. I look forward to what's next!

Once again Talitha Robinson is trying to have a new start by opening a book store and coffee shop on the beach. During the beginning of the remodeling she found a body that lead to solving a mystery. The mystery was solved and now Tali is moving on with her plan for the store. However, her luck is about to change. A mysterious author has come to town and has her to read his novel. No big deal until his assistant comes up dead. Now Tali is in the middle of another mystery. Her and her book group wont rest till the mystery is solved. Mac MacArthur will once again be involved in the mystery as well even tho Tali and Mac aren't seeing eye to eye right now. This is book 2 of the series and it picks up right where book one left off. I recommend reading them in order. This is a clean read. I liked it and I am going to read book three next.

Welcome back to Lantern Beach and the renovations on Tali's new bookstore. But alas, Tali's life is anything but what she expected when she moved to the beach to leave her old life behind and start anew. She met a man she is very attracted to but found out that their pasts intersected in a way that she doesn't know if she can forget, she's already faced a couple murders close by, a strange man come to her door and won't take no for an answer, and a body washes up on the beach. So, as Tali tries to solve another murder and ignore Mac, she is finding herself depending on him more that she would like. Can they put the past behind them and move forward before a killer strikes again. Another fun read.

Mac has been keeping his distance from Tali after a surprising connection that involves both of their pasts. When a dead woman's body washes ashore and the cause of her death matches to what is found in a partial manuscript, Mac and Tali have to work together.
Whoever is responsible starts to target the members of the book club Tali is part of. Is it the writer himself or is it someone else recreating scenes from the manuscript?
Bound by Disaster, a quick mystery read, grabbed my attention from the first page and kept me guessing until the end. Looking forward to the third book in this series.

Love this new series!

Ever since I first read one of Ms Barritt's books, I fell in love with them. Her characters have such depth to them that they seem like real people. The places are so real you want to visit them and meet the people.
This second book of this new series set in my favorite fictional place continues the tradition with new characters that blend seamlessly with the old adding more depth to this beautiful island. If it was real, I would love to visit it and eat at the Crazy Chefette and taste Lisa's latest creations and definitely the grilled cheese and peach sandwich!

Christy Barritt expertly engages readers with all five senses in the Lantern Beach and Beach Bound Books and Beans Mysteries series. Yes, even taste is covered with the unique and unusual dishes at Lisa's Crazy Chefette restaurant. Inspired by a previous LB edition, I tried my own version of avocado toast with fresh strawberries and balsamic reduction. It was delicious!

Enjoy the fictional island, realistic characters and all the action and suspense.

I received a complimentary copy of the book without obligation. This review is my opinion.

Talitha Robinson continues to prepare the bookstore of her dreams, but another dead body throws a curve in her plans. She gets involved in trying to solve the crime, and this investigation brings a reconnection with Mayor Mac MacArthur, former police chief of Lantern Beach. This fun cozy mystery includes plenty of suspense and moments of danger in a fast-paced story that continues to ramp up as it progresses. I love these continuing tales from a favorite fictional location. I received a copy from the author. All opinions are my own.

Loved finding good suspense with Mature MCs

Just discovered Christy Barritt's books. I read only Christian fiction-primarily Suspense and don't find many books with mature main characters that are also both mature Christians. Tali and Mac make a great team in unraveling the crimes on their otherwise peaceful island. Each book in the series leads seamlessly into the next and seeing the relatio.nships between the characters develop really creates interest.
Strongly recommend reading all 5 books in order!

I had an ARC for this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. Tali Richardson is renovating the shop that will be her store when a dead body shows up. She was the assistant to an author who had dropped off a manuscript for Tali to read. When her friends start being drawn into the drama, Mac and police chief Cassidy work to solve the mystery. A great second book in this series by Christy Barritt. The plot is full of suspense and keeps you guessing until the very end.

Easy read

On the same line as the Books with Serena, the ice cream truck driver, and her dog. Believe those books are More interesting and cuter. Is a little different than some of christy's books because nobody is Having many Near death experiences all the Time. Always glad when another book is at lantern beach and we have Cassidy and her husband, mac, and Serena in the books.

Only one murder

Well, it's a short book and we were made to anticipate danger for other characters, but only one bit the dust. Figuring out who dunnit was hard with so little information. But Christy Barritt has moved the saga of Mac and Tali a little further along the beach. Wonder what will happen next?

Lantern Beach mystery.

Tali and Mac came together to solve the murder of a tourist and then things got complicated. Friends targeted, all suspects appear innocent and then vacation rental fraud is occurring. Will Mac, Cassidy, Tali and friends be able to figure it all out before more people are hurt? Lots of twists and turns and, for me, a surprise ending.

Tali gets a visit from a stranger to her store. He is an author who wants her to read his unfinished mystery & endorse it. Then there is a murdered woman that washes up on the beach just like what's written in the book. Strange coincidence or something more sinister? This story is not like any other mystery I have read so far & I enjoyed it very much.

This series is turning out to be fun, quick reads that keep you guessing until the end. Tali is still working on renovating her coffee shop and bookstore and has started a book club with some of the other quirky characters we have grown to love in Lantern Beach. Strange events start to occur after Tali is visited by an author asking her to read his new manuscript. About that time, a dead body washes up on the beach and has been killed just like the character in the manuscript Tali has been given. Could this author be behind these events or is someone trying to set him up? It seems like someone is targeting Tali and the other members of the book club, but why? Even though there is the continuing story of how Mac and Tali's pasts connect, they team up again to try to figure out who is after them. This one kept me guessing and I cannot wait until book 3, Bound by Mystery.

Thank you to the author for a copy of this story. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

Bound by Disaster

In this book Tallie is approached by an author with his manuscript asking for her endorsement and soon after the death of his assistant occurs. The woman was killed just like in his book. Did he do it? Tallie along with her book club friends work the puzzle and after completing it discover the killer.

Nice romantic suspense

All of Christy Barritt's novels are good and this is a cute one that finally has a heroine that's an older adult. Fun things still happen after 50! I'm enjoying reading more about Mac, the mayor in this book. its an enjoyable read.
