The King of Afterworld. The Chief of Freya's Army. An evil queen they need to stop from rising.

Tharion

Nothing felt worse than getting betrayed by the person you trusted the most. Finding out I'd been around my mate for decades without recognizing him hurt.

But with an evil queen intent on usurping the throne of Otherworld, and all of the demon realm under threat, we hardly had time for romance. Not that I'd let that stop me, no matter how reluctant Lionel was to accept me as his mate.

Could I balance love and war, and win them both?

Lionel

I should've been over the moon when I found out the man I'd been pining over for decades was my mate, but I wasn't. Until now, I'd barely been a blip on Tharion's radar, and I couldn't help wondering if he actually wanted me for me or because I was his mate.

Not that I had much time to think about it between trying to keep the dark souls from escaping the Chasm and helping my king keep our realm safe.

Could I keep my heart and my realm safe?

Lionel, the final book in the Lords of Otherworld series, features a soul collector who doesn't quite know what to do when his pining bears fruits, a king who is determined to win his love, and a final fight to protect all of the realms from the rule of an evil queen.

Each book in the Lords of Otherworld series features a different couple with an overarching plotline. It is recommended to read the books in order for the most enjoyment.

The good
+ Tharion insisting on courting Lionel
+ Lionel using Tharion as his weighted blanket
+ Tharion sharing his vulnerable side with Lionel
+ Dates
+ Found family

The neutral
o I have not read all of Rainbow's books, because frankly, there are too many interconnected series. However, I thought I'd read enough to understand what was going on. I was still a little lost sometimes, and I don't know if that's because the plot was vague, or I was just missing information from other books
o Tharion decided he'd figure out a way for both of them to keep their wings out comfortably during sex,

The bad
- The blurb hinted that Tharion only noticed Lionel now that he was his fated mate, and Lionel had been harboring an unrequited crush for ages. In truth,
- Betty had this giant form like Ro'shassz, but she never used it
- Lionel said he didn't really like children, because he didn't know how to behave around them.
- The reason why their bond was reveiled now and not earlier was
- There was no reason for Lionel to
- When and how did the bonding happen? At first, they talked in the future tense about bonding and Lionel wondered if after they bonded he'd become consort. And then suddenly they were bonded, but I have no idea what event triggered that bond

This book did not live up to my expectations. It was nice and cute, but it was not what I thought it would be. I feel cheated by the blurb, and I feel like the hurt inflicted on characters because of all this stuff with revealing fated mates at "just the right moment" is trivialized for plot reasons, which I don't like. I also had a lot of problems understanding what was going on and why some things happened in a certain way. This book was the one I enjoyed the least in this series. Also, there is going to be another series in this universe. With so many interconnected series and books, it's impossible to follow along for casual readers.

**********Contains Spoilers**********

I really enjoyed this book. It has all the sweetness that I’ve come to expect from one of Stella Rainbow’s stories. I thought it was a good ending to the Lords of Otherworld Series. I also liked that Tharion and Lionel’s mating was a bit different than all the previous couples. They’ve known each other for years but never recognised what they are to each other, Tharion hid his attraction to Lionel very well as he knew after his last failed relationship that even though he finds Lionel very attractive, and knows that Lionel feels something for him that he wouldn’t act on their feelings unless they’re mates. Everyone else knew that they’ve had feelings for each other for years. There’s an explanation on why Tharion’s sibling Celeste aka Fate never even hinted that they were mates.

Lionel isn’t very happy when Tharion realises that they’re mates. Even though he should be happy as he’s had a crush on him for years. Lionel believes that Tharion’s only interested in him because of their bond, and that he only wants Lionel now that they’re mates. It doesn’t take them long to work out that they’ve had feeling for the other for years, but Tharion was just really good at hiding it. Tharion, Lionel and the rest of their Otherworld family are trying to find a way to stop the evil queen from usurping Otherworld’s throne. I thought Tharion and Lionel were great together, and fate sure knew what they were doing when matching these two. I’m really looking forward to reading more books from this universe. I’ve already pre-ordered Salvation (Innocent Monsters Series) Book 1 and The Elusive Griffin (Mystics of Mistvale Series) Book 1 and I’m looking forward to reading them when they’re released. I’d definitely recommend this book, series, universe and author to everyone.

n The King of Afterworld, Tharion, a powerful leader, faces the betrayal of someone he trusted while discovering that his long-time acquaintance Lionel is actually his fated mate. As an evil queen threatens to seize control of Otherworld, Tharion is torn between the war that demands his attention and the love he refuses to ignore, though Lionel is hesitant to accept their bond. Meanwhile, Lionel wrestles with his own doubts, questioning whether Tharion desires him for who he is or simply because fate has tied them together. As both struggle with their feelings, they must also defend their realm from dark forces and prevent chaos from consuming the demon world. Love and war collide in this tale of destiny, trust, and survival.

I loved this story, which had emotional depth and complex relationships—loyalty, personal transformation, and overcoming betrayal. So many emotions and feelings as the otherworld faced the conclusion of their fight against evil. Lots of danger and drama as there were plenty of twists and turns, are everything was developed. I'm sad that the series has ended. This was an MM story with mature content.

I expected more from the general story, from the plot that unfolded in almost all the books in this universe created by the author. Maybe Damien's point of view, since he's the king of the Otherworld.

I don't know if this book ends the stories in these two worlds, or if we will have more. But if this was the last one, then I expected the closure to be more detailed for the general aspects and the existing couples, since we won't see them with so much focus on them anymore. But if not, ok then.

As for the story of the pair, Tharion and Lionel, I didn't expect much. Since their first appearance in previous books, I realized that they would be a dull couple, with shallow stories. It didn't disappoint.

But it was ok. I didn't like it so much. However, it wasn't the worst. Fate's was much, much worse, painful. For what was presented here, it could have been a shorter book. He rambled on, repeated lines and information, both from this book and the previous ones. Unnecessary. In doubt about the grade.

what a fabulous ending to these four books!

This is a paranormal romance, the fourth (& final ) in the “Lords of the Otherworld” series which should be read in order. This book picks up from the ending of book three where Lionel finds out that the person he’s been pining for is his mate! But they are all focused on the breaking chasm and the evil souls within, will they ever get time to forge their bond??? Such a great ending to the series! I can’t wait to read the next series about the monsters they all saved!

Lionel is the fourth and final book in the Lords of Otherworld series, a Fate's Gamble series spin-off. The book follows the story of Lionel and Tharion. The book was really well written and is somewhat heavier in tone than Mistvale or Fate's Gamble but still full of the signature Stella sweetness. The story is emotional and full of action and adventure—overall delightful story and a great conclusion to the series.

The last in the series

No black soul should have been able to go into the Chasm with their magic intact. At least they finally figured that part out but still some were able to get away which makes absolutely no sense. The Chasm didn't weaken but was made stronger so really they would not have been able to pull off a great escape. Lionel has settled into his new life with the love of his life.

Dad but excited..

I am sad this series is finished but excited that a new one is on the way. I do hope that we will get Walker's story sometime in the not too distant future. Highly recommended.

Well, this ends this portion of the overall plot, but sets up a possible continuing story.
I’ve grown to really enjoy the continuing series (starting with Mistvale). Now onto the side-stories with the Innocent Monsters introduced in LIONEL.

Audio review
I read this author for the fluffy goodness writing style. This one was a bit of a miss for me. The term "crush" was used in great abundance, making it read more like YA.
