This is a very interesting book which tells the true story of the first complete traverse of the Himalaya on foot.
It is not what I would call a "gripping tale" but it is certainly very interesting and definitely awe-inspiring. I read it gradually in between novels!!!
Between June 1990 and November 1991, Sorrel and her husband Chris trekked 6,500 kilometers across the Himalaya Mountains.
The book tells of their joys and frustrations, their physical challenges and their brushes with death.
Some sections are funny and others heart-breaking. ... but overall, very impressive!!!!

I am really surprised this is so little known. Although I was given this by an enthusiastic colleague and wouldn't have otherwise heard of Wilby. I'll be looking out some more though, she's a great voice for women travellers.

I love this book. I read it to dream, and to wish it was me. Sorrel Wilby and Chris Ciantar became the first people to traverse the Himalaya on foot, walking 6,500 klm.
The author is Sorrel Wilby. Don't know why it's not recognized, perhaps it's out of print
