Whispers of the Walker: After breaking the code of secrecy and facing the judgement of the High Council, Jess and Hannah have no choice but to become Trackers, working to take down those who would exploit the spirit world for profit or power. Their first assignment takes them into the deep South, where Jeremiah Campbell, a self-proclaimed spiritual guru, lures wealthy and desperate devotees with promises of a deeper connection with the dead. As the girls go undercover, it soon becomes clear that they, and the spirit world they are sworn to protect, are once again in unimaginable danger. Plague of the Shattered: Something dangerous is stalking the halls of Fairhaven. It lies in wait, striking down victim after victim, undetectable and inescapable. No one knows what it is, or what it wants, but one thing is clear: no one is safe until it is captured. Awakening of the Seer: She can already see the dead . . . but is she starting to see the future? Spurred by the injustices that nearly destroyed their family, Jess and Hannah Ballard are preparing to win back a seat on the powerful Durupinen Council. As Hannah faces the harsh realities of political intrigue, Jess must face a frightening new reality of her own. Will Jess be forced to stand helplessly by, or will she interpret the signs before it's too late?
E.E. Holmes grew up near Boston, Massachusetts, where she spent the majority of her childhood reading books. She read them almost constantly, and as a result, perfected the art of walking and reading at the same time, a skill she can still perform to this day with remarkably few instances of falling on her face. She also wrote many books and poems in blank books and on the backs of legal pads her father brought home from the office. They remain some of her finest work.
She soon learned to love literature of the dramatic persuasion, and earned a B.A. in theater from the College of the Holy Cross. After graduation, she set out to prove that her degree was, in fact, not useless, and worked as a principal actor in a summer Shakespeare festival and as a theater teacher, directing over thirty productions and numerous workshops for youth and high school students. She spent several years as the theater director at Wakefield High School where she also taught English literature and public speaking. It was in her classroom that she discovered the horrible truth: a disturbingly large percentage of high school students hate to read. This revelation devastated and bewildered her. She decided she wanted to do something about it, and thus she started work on her first young adult novel, Spirit Legacy: Book 1 of the Gateway Trilogy, which has gone on to win awards from Chanticleer Book Reviews and Media and The Independent Publisher Book Awards. She is also the author of three one act plays, one of which premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
E.E. Holmes lives in central Massachusetts with her husband, two children, and small, but surprisingly loud dog. When not writing, she enjoys watching unhealthy amounts of British television, procrastinating, and rediscovering her favorite books from her childhood all over again with her kids.
So glad to be finished with this trilogy. I think it could have been condensed in one book. I'll definitely be skipping anything else from this author.
I finished these three books in about a week. I really liked the story and how the characters develop. I do have to admit that there were parts where Jess the main character and her sister Hannah really got on my nerves. I loved how there is a different level of villains in this story, starting with the Durupinen and their close mindedness and fear that drove them to do unspeakable things, then the double "agents" to lastly the utterly cruel and heartless villains. It made me really dislike a bunch of people, even the supposed good guys. This book was spooky in a way that has you looking around in the dark at night, reading it a night by yourself might not be very wise if you are easily spooked like me. I highly recommend this series to anyone that enjoys paranormal sci-fi.
Cracking book gives you a different perspective on afterlife ghost and spiritualist.Story kept me engrossed from start to finish,my only grip is sometimes the author gets very childish I understand why it’s about teenagers, but if you do read this book, you will see what I’m on about Overall I will read more from same author,as they have great vision and built up a great anticipation for the final scenes, just think of Harry Potter books you knew it was building to something same here
Once I started, I couldn’t stop. Up until four in the morning, to finish the book, ready for the next one!
Jess has always been troubled. Her life changes when her mother dies snd she goes yo live with her aunt Karen. She goes away to college and things escalated. She shares a room with Tia and they become great friends. Jess heard snd sees things. She sees spirit! Looking for answers, she signs up to a class about the paranormal. Her life will never be the same again!
Loved the characters, the twists snd turns in the plot, as this fantastic story unfolds.
I bought the set after reading the blurb. And I have to say it was worth the money. I read all 3 in 4 days. It was full of intrigue and playful banter. I love the way the main character Jess was. She was sad but playful. Made friends and helped out her mates even the one who were hostile to her. The friendship with her and tia. And then Evan, I swear I cried at that. I was devastated. And that's just the first book. If you like paranormal but with today in mind then it's worth a read.
An enjoyable take on ghost/spirits/magic. It's an easy read with plenty of action and suspense.. Took a little bit to get into the story but you come to know the characters so well you can't help but become immersed in the story and what will happen next. Loved that the 3 books were together and that the next set are the same as it meant I could really keep up with the story and not have to wait around for the next installment. I look forward to reading more from E.E.Holmes.
Everybody’s reality is individual to themselves and, as I was reading them, these books spoke to me. A gripping enactment of a reality I have been touching the edges of for years. Loved the respect the author gave to the reader with words not used in common. Always believed that anything forbidden just makes us weak in negativity. Hoping the next collection widens this knowledge and gives it more power/comfort.
Although it can be hard to get into, it is worth it. It has a mixture of passion, magic and everything else. A few spelling and grammar mistakes but it doesn’t ruin the read.
It got me out of my reading slump and allowed me to picture what was happening within each chapter.
Love the Gaelic writing and names - very rarely seen in books. Léamh maith
This took me half the first book to really get into it but I’m glad I stuck with it. It seemed a bit young for me at first because although the characters were adults they were treated much like children. I’m excited to start the Trackers series next. But first I have to do some actual work. I haven’t put this book down since I picked it up.
I loved the story and disliked Jessica the main character. I would rather have the story told from Hannah's point of view Jessica's sister. As much as I liked the story I will not read the next series because it's from Jessica's point of view. What a shame I feel Hannah would be a much more likable and interesting character.
This is a well written and excellent series. The characters are interesting and I love every one of them. The story itself grips you immediately and you will want to continue reading until the end. The best part is that the series continues in the Gateway Tracker series. I will eventually read everything E E Holmes has written.
Absolutely loved these books ...I have spent the last four days doing nothing but read. Don't want to give anything away so all I can say is give them ago . I read them for free I'm my kindle subscription so nothing to lose !!!! Think I'll be buying the actual set though and adding them to my book case
This was a great trilogy.. I enjoyed the story and will want to read the next book to find out what is ahead for these girls. I've always liked stories with something supernatural.
This is an amazing story. It is well written. The characters are well developed and come to life on the pages. You can't really bring ghost to life though this author manages to.
I couldn't put this series down I read it in 2 days. It just gets better and better, page after page. If you love an on the edge of your seat story, then you have to read this series.
Loved everything about this trilogy. It gripped me From the first chapter and I found it hard to put down. I can't recommend this series enough. Wonderful characters and plot.
A very enjoyable and captivating trilogy, full of action, suspense and nail biting chapters that kept you on the edge of your seat. Cannot praise it highly enough.
A truly great series all in one book. I loved the plot and the well written characters were a joy to learn about. I will definitely continue with the Tracker series and continue the adventure started in this series.
I loved this, was so easy to read and i loved most of the characters and obviously hated some of the others. I love the supernatural and this book did not disappoint. The storyline kept me hooked from start to finish.
Great story that builds through out the books. The characters come to life the more we read. These books moved me so much I actually laughed and cried! Would tell you more but I don't like to spoil these great reads! Grab yourself a copy and enjoy!
If you are into fantasy….it is a easy, fast read. Love Milo the ghost, as he adds humor in at every twist. By the end of the collection, you have a strong connection to these characters. Highly recommend
Great read. Thrilling, entertaining, funny and inspiring. I love this trilogy. Exciting from first chapter to the last. I now have a new author to read. Good job
One of the best series since Harry Potter. Well written characters you can't help but love or hate. Would love to see this on screen one day. BTW.... this is my second read of all 3 books.
That story was really good it kept me in suspense and I stayed up most of the nite to read it. I had a hard time putting it down. I highly recommend it
