From seaside to countryside and from villages to towns, Somerset is a county where it’s difficult to separate history and mystery. This intriguing, fast-paced, fact-packed compendium of places, people and trivia reveals all sorts of answers to questions you might have wondered about, and the facts, stats and anecdotes will surprise even those Somersetians who thought they really knew their county.
Simply written and poorly edited. Little colour added to interesting stories - it felt like I was reading a Wikipedia page rather than what should have been a charming local interest book. Errors in text such as spellings and spaces/punctuation. Some interesting facts and stories.
I think I'll likely read a few more of this "little book..." series as they're a great way to dip into a variety of subjects. Like the "Little History" this doesn't go into heaps of detail, but it does offer a great place to start researching on various topics, and to give me ideas on places to visit in Somerset!
A must-read for those staying or liking Somerset, containing tons of interesting information and history regarding the county. Should have read earlier to really visit the places around...
